Poor quality. Uses low quality materials and workmanship was poor. Wasted over $2k on them to do bad work.

Bob's Upholstery has been my go-to place for fabric, fringe and upholstery services for over a decade, and not once have I ever been disappointed. I can be pretty picky, and since sewing and upholstery have been a hobby for decades, I know the difference in excellent quality materials and workmanship versus so-so. (Do not confuse them with Bob's Furniture, as they are a complete different business with no connection to Bob's Upholstery.) This is a three generation business, which was started in Marietta in 1960, and their experience and dedication to their customers is evident. Shawna and her sister and daughter have always been delightful and helpful, and kind enough to fix some things that I goofed up (or purchased poor quality at a place a few doors down from their location). They never cut corners on quality, zippers on cushions and pillows are perfectly completed, and they never over or under stuff. You will definitely see the quality here. I've seen them be extremely patient and courteous with less than delightful customers, so that makes my shopping experience more pleasant. I have recommended them to at least six friends who are also happy with their services and products, and one friend drives over from Alpharetta every time she needs something. Bob's Upholstery is moving in a few months so they need to reduce inventory, so now is the time to snag some great bargains! read more

TERRIBLE business. Terrible. We picked this place because we needed a chair recovered, and this place got good reviews. When we arrived, there were a lot of fabric options, which was nice. The ladies in the store were friendly. We chose our fabric and made the down payment with limited hassle. I thought it was overpriced, but with the good reviews I thought it'd be worth it. It's not. TWO MONTHS LATER. They call us because they've forgotten what the fabric is. They want us to come in and pick it out again. This is ridiculous. I send them a picture of the swatch I took the day we bought it. Still they struggled to locate the fabric. At this point I just wanted to take our chair back, but they had already destroyed it. ANOTHER MONTH goes by and they finally call that it's done. Three months for one chair to be recovered. The chair looks fine. But it wasn't worth the money or the hassle. Oh and the chair smells. I'm sure that'll go away with time, but it's just another part of the bad experience. I've had lots of furniture recovered and NEVER had this type of experience. I've certainly never had furniture returned to me with a smell. To top it all off they refused to give us a break on the cost for all the hassle. The best I can do is warn others. We will never ever be back, and I encourage everyone reading this to avoid this store, as well. read more

We had our leather cushions redone. They did a good job, but it took forever. I had to call them 3x's and they did not apologized. 6 weeks!! I found them to be way over priced and not so nice. I would check around if I were you. read more

I have a sickness. I am addicted to fabric shopping but I can't sew a stitch or afford someone else to sew them for me. Despite this malfeasance, I have managed to log quite a few hours at area fabric warehouses and actually get some help (thanks mom!) on completing a few projects. Bob's is one place I have never been before today. But if Bob's was a church, I would have asked to join today! First, a little history. Bob's used to be located between the Marietta Square and the Big Chicken, which is close to where I work. I saw the place at least once a week with its ultra-modern dining room chairs out front covered in zebra print. Tacky! I never went in. Now, their new location is in Kennesaw, just a few moments from my house. Their fabrics range from zany (red leopard print and purple snake skin) to sophisticated. Even their over the top fabrics are of high quality, a quality that you know will wear well. Usually the crazier looking they are (the ones I'm often drawn to), the crappier the quality is. Not at Bob's. I received the best service. The store is family owned and operated. I started getting ideas from their beautiful showroom and completely changed my vision for the current project. I collected samples and then the sweetheart upfront asked what I was thinking and she collected several more samples and put some things together I never would have dreamed of. This is the service I used to get at other stores I will not name, but they have had management change and I just haven't been getting that in the past years. Another thing I appreciated was their on the spot ability to quote an upholstery job. However, I did think it was high compared to other quotes I received. Their upholstery is flawless though. I first got to know Bob's as the company that did all the work for a friend's high end designer clients. I picked up fabric, finished pieces, etc. for her. I also love to shop there for fabric and get ideas for projects. You get what you pay for -- this is really an art and not something you learn in two weeks. I figure that buying better furniture and re-upholstering it is wiser than buying cheap pieces that won't hold up long term. I have a lot of antiques so that's my strategy! read more

Not only did they finish the job quickly, they decided to only charge me $75 because it didn't take as long as they expected. And honestly I think I would rather have a giant burn in my seat then have anyone from here touch my truck ever again. Going here was a big mistake. They have been in business for over 50 years doing upholstery work and it shows!! So friendly and helpful In my opinion, the best in the business, at least in the Atlanta area anyway. NO STARS!!! I would not recomend this business to anyone! This is a long story but well worth the read if you are considering using them for a repair. About 2 weeks ago went into the store to get a price on fixing the drivers seat of our truck, everything went good thus far they even beat the price of the shop next door to them. Well it was a different story after they received some money from us. They ask for a deposit to order the fabric...no problem we even went ahead and paid for half of the repair in advance. We were told the fabric would in by the following Monday, Tuesday at the latest.(this was on Thursday) well Tuesday came around and no one had called us so we called them. Sorry the fabric has not come in yet...well we heard this for 1 Week. I called back on Friday to check again. The lady who answered the phone was RUDE and gave me some story about how because of the economy no one has any money and their vendor is not stocking the fabric. As a company they should have called us to let us know about this issue instead of telling us the same thing day after day.. that the fabric will be in tomorrow. While on the phone with the lady I asked if we could just get our money back and we would find someone else to make the repairs since we had already had to put the sale of our truck on hold until the seat was fixed. Her response....no we don't do refunds but you can have a store credit. REALLY??? after this experience!!! ..She said they are at the mercey of their vendor and there is nothing she can do, my response Well I am the one out the money and my time so really I guess I am at your mercey. Her response....now get this...have a great day and hung up the phone. I was shocked needless to say. I was going to take a minute, calm down and call the store back but before I could do this she had called my son and said please tell the young lady who just called that I was not being rude but I had a customer walk in, and by the way how much do you want for the truck? I guess I am not a customer, and I could not believe she inquired on the truck. Well at this point I am beyond upset, so I deceided to give it the weekend and call on Monday. Monday comes we call and get to different answers 1) the fabric is in and 2) the fabric has been discontinued. I own a small business myself and I would never allow this kind of treatment to any customer. Word of mouth can make or break a business. Please think twice before you use this company!! Oh and by the way the place next door is fixing it ,and the fabric is not discontinued. read more

Wrote a review earlier in August but for some reason it never got posted. These ladies (sisters so they claim) are very nice but have absolutely NO CLUE OF design, installation (curtains) nor customer service. Measured 3 times, took pictures & still managed to sabotage the entire decorating experience. Had to hang my own curtains and they are so wrinkled and horrible, also had two chairs & sofa recovered at the same time, chairs were covered in the WRONG fabric, sofa delivered by two nephews with dirty shoes (all over my brand new carpet) & they don't know what a decorator curtain rod is? She tried to install it and it fell in half in the middle. BUYER BEWARE. Spent 9K in good faith, and oh, bye the way, Vickie & Shana, have a blessed day! read more

I had 2 reclining chairs reupholstered at Bob's using his fabric. Took the chairs in Feb,,got them back 2 months later. By Nov, the seat fabric was pilling. I took the cushion back to show them Dec 4th. They said it would take 6 weeks to hear back from the factory. They didn't call, I called them and Vickie told me it was our fault the fabric is bad. It was our dogs that did it. We had these same chairs for 9 years and they were fine except for the arms starting to wear. Said they upholstered a chair in the same fabric and have sat on it for 6 weeks and it is fine. Ours was fine also for 6 months. They refuse to do anything about this. We paid $1317.00 for this work. When I told them I was going to write this, Vickie got so mean,,said I threatened her. They did a fine job of upholstering but the fabric was bad and they won't stand behind the products they sell. read more

They blackmailed me!!!! Alicia J is my boyfriends mother. please read her review first. After being lied to about the fabric I got very ticked off. I went in and asked for a refund stated id be the one paying for the repair. They gave me my refund but refused to put it in my hands, she said to my boyfriend im going to give this to you because you because you are the one that handed the money to us. Which is understandable but then she proceeded to act as if I was not standing there. We lefted their business and went else where. We got the fabric in a day and had the seat fixed the following day. The fabric was not discontinued upset that we had been lied to, my boyfriend and I went back into Bobs. We stated that the seat was fixed the fabric had not been discontinued and we had left a review and would not be sending anyone to them in the future. They followed us outside yelling at us. She said to my boyfriend that he should have been man enough to step up and not have his girlfriend handle it for him. At this point I was livid. I cused her as I got into my car and she threated me with "you come back in here and talk to me like that and she what I do to you" I left and headed home. On my way home I recieved a phone call from them asking for my boyfriend, they told him that (heres the blackmail) they would put out a warrent for my arrest if the bad review was not taken down but as long as the review was taken down they would be "mature adults" and let it go. The warrent was for me cussing them. The review was not mine to take down nor can you arrest someone for being rude. I hope that no one has to go threw what we went threw with these people who came to christian and nice when all they do is lie and from what I hear horrible work. We went next door and spent a little more and they did an excellent job that is guarenteed and in no time. I will definatly go back to see them. read more

They helped me finish covering a twin bed headboard that is very special to me (from my grandmothers house) and put on the buttons because I clearly didn't know what I was doing!! This place is a must if you are in the market for upholstery or any other type of fabric. Today was my first time visiting the store and I was pleasantly surprised. My spouse and I were looking for the perfect, inexpensive fabric to make couch and chair covers for our new RV. I've been to many other fabric stores and know upholstery fabric can be pricey, even the faux fabrics. Yet, I was ecstatic when I found embossed faux leather in neutral tones for just $12/yard. The prices at Bob's seem to be significantly lower than the chain fabric stores or most of the local warehouses. I will definitely be back to Bob's for my fabric needs! read more

Bait and Switch Operation and Poor Customer Service!! Bob's Upholstery recently did a furniture re-upholstery job for me and I was extremely upset with their customer service and lack of pricing ethics. When I initially inquired about the cost of reupholstering a sofa, chair and ottoman I was given a price of $1200... which was higher than other similar businesses nearby, but the quality in the store seemed good and I feel very strongly about supporting local family businesses. I was willing to pay a little extra. A few weeks later, after finding fabric at another store, I came back in to handle the paperwork. I was then given a price of X... which was slightly higher, but again, I was willing to give them the benefit of the doubt. I paid a deposit fee of half and made arrangements for them to pick up the furniture. On the day of the scheduled pick-up, I received a phone call 3 hours prior to their scheduled time and I was told that because of forecasted rain, that they wanted to come and pick up the furniture "NOW"... since I wasn't at home at the time of the call, I offered to meet them in 30 minutes at my home. The woman on the phone was very rude basically threatening that they wouldn't pick up at all if I wasn't going to jump at that very moment to accommodate them. (It never even rained that day) When they arrived at my home, the crew was very careful with my furniture and promptly loaded it into their van. AFTER they had my furniture in their possession, she changed the price to $2100. At that point, what is a person to do? They have my deposit of $700 AND my furniture. When I questioned one of the charges, she said that she would "get back to me". The chair had some damage to one of the arms, that was easily repaired, the couch and ottoman were in very good condition. Their paperwork clearly states that "All Charges are subject to change without notice"... CUSTOMER BEWARE!!! I showed the charges to a friend of mine who works in the fabric and upholstery business. She was stunned at the fees that they were charging for the materials that they were using. The mark-up was ENORMOUS!! She told me that these charges were NOT customary in this business. After 4 weeks time, I then received a phone call saying that they had to replace a piece of wood in the furniture frame and another $85 charge (for a piece of wood that probably cost them less than $10). When I inquired about the charges being so much more than I was initially told, they were extremely rude to me. When I inquired as to when the furniture would be completed, I was told that it should be soon and that they would call me when it was completed. I waited another week and received no call. When I finally called the store a week later, I was told that they "thought' the furniture was ready and that they would "call me right back" .... 4 hours later when they did call, I tried to arrange delivery. Because I work full time, I requested a 4 o'clock delivery or a Saturday delivery, which are both within the posted store hours. I was told that there was NO WAY possible to make that delivery and that I was going to have to make other arrangements. (Let me say, that they were already charging me $125 for delivery that was less than a 15 minute drive from their store). When I asked to speak to the manager, I was told that someone might get back to me on Monday, but that it would be unlikely that any arrangements for delivery could be made. When I expressed my frustration, I was given a million excuses as to why they couldn't help out their customer. Never once did they apologize or offer to help make the situation correct. We ended up picking up the furniture ourselves. When we got it home, we found that two of the legs had been "stripped" and will need to be repaired. At the end of the day, they did a fair job on the furniture, but they charged me more to reupholster the furniture than I actually paid for the furniture, and I felt that I was treated poorly and unethically. read more

Buyer beware! They kept my chair for 7 months, put me off every time I called (in all those many times of their promising "we'll have it next week/next month," and saying they'd call back, they actually called back only once). When it was finally done, I told them I was coming in the next day for it. When I arrived they couldn't even find it. When they did locate it after 15 minutes, it was all wrapped up and missing the base. Another 20 minutes while they found the base and attached it. For all this, they deducted a measly 5% off the fee, and never offered an actual apology, just excuses. When I got it home and took off the packing materials, I found that the fabric was not glued down under one arm, and there were splotches of glue everywhere. They had not even covered it in the way that I asked (they added extra seams), and my chair was filthy. And they had mounted the base over a packing rope, which meant I had to completely remove the base again. While the staff is warm and friendly, I'm sorry to say they are incompetent. I think this chair was beyond their capabilities, but they refused to acknowledge that and took it on anyhow. I have no idea how this place has achieved its positive reputation. read more
