What a place! If you need Knick Knacks, gift wrap, cards, just about anything, this is your place! This inexpensive mom-and-pop shop is so retro and the selection can't be beat. More bang for your buck type of place. Debbie, at the cashier, went above and beyond in gracious customer service. The store is a little messy, but you'll be able to find anything, including souvenirs, like t-shirts, magnets, mugs, and other fun gifts for friends and family. Bob's has a large collection of greeting cards and fabric. There is Post Office conveniently located inside the store. The craft and fabrics are priced high. It seems it's been sitting on the shelves for a while. But the outside is where they displayed the discounted items. Such as, AZ shirts, calendars and puzzles. read more

I came in looking at fabric only, so I can't speak for the rest of the store. They have a nice variety of different textured fabric and fabrics I don't see at other stores. Moderately priced, because it is harder to find I think. Would come if I needed to sew something specific. read more

Whoops I got Bob's Variety store name mixed up with the local hardware store my last review. Today was the first time I actually visited Bob's. It is like a dollar store, but not everything is a dollar. The name hits the nail on the head when it says variety. They have fabric, clothing, a Arizona Lottery counter, Postal office, office supplies, clothing, toys, seasonal, tons of cards for special occasions and so much more. Nothing super fancy, but it is fun to go in and check out what they have. We loaded up in the seasonal section with patriotic supplies. With the 4th coming up and having so many military and policemen in the family it was a perfect find. The girls and I have a tradition where we stick holiday decals on the patio door all year around changing them for every occasion. We found some cute ones here today along with some cards for birthdays and lottery tickets to stick inside them. I love giving scratcher tickets for gifts. read more

Been living here for 10 years and I must admit this is the worst experience we've ever had at Bob's. We enjoy the variety of products they carry along with the convenience. But, this time very unhappy.. Needed to return a few items after spending over $300 there a few days ago. The older lady that we dealt with was rude and wouldn't return our original sales slip! Who does that? Thank God my wife took a picture of it. I better see some refund real soon on my credit card. I guess good help is getting harder to find. read more

I purchased a solar powered patio umbrella. The solar disc was missing. My wife went back to get the missing part. Two employees gave my wife a hard time. The younger man insisted all discs were in place earlier in the day. He then found two on the ground but wouldn't give one to my wife. He insisted we file a claim with the provider. My client and I went to bobs variety, and we both bought some chocolate that they had on sale. After I paid opne two bags to taste and the chocolate was disgusting i happened to look at the expiration date and it had expired told the register she refused to refund me back, I'm point this to everyone that shops here be careful they sell the elderly people old expired stuff. The cashier was very rude to me and my elderly lady I wouldn't recommend this place makes me sick they are selling expired items to the most vulnerable elderly people that don't look at expiration dates like I do. I love Bob's. I agree with other reviews, I can find things I need that no one carries any more. When you get old, what's important to us may not be so important to others. Bob's also carries some really nice cotton fabric for many uses, but especially for quilting. His prices are better than most other quilting fabric shops and he carries a lot. This place is really special. It is secretly a Five and Dime Store. Ask your parents. You never know what you might find here and they have their own post office, making it the greatest secret in Sun City West. Whether it is party supplies or deck shoes, Bob's has it. This is not a rating of Bob's merchandise or site appearance, but only of the service I received by his employees at the Post Office window today at 2:09. pm. The employees working at the windows need training in how to address customers. Attitude is everything, and today, they gave the appearance that they didn't like their jobs, and preferred to be somewhere else. the store part and cashiers there are great very helpful and courteous, my concer is with the two rude and not at all helpful people in the post office section. Four times I have been there including today, one time I was told my return address was to close to the much larger shipping address, it was written smaller and 6" away. so I thought I'd check with the post office main office to see if there was a criteria and showed them a picture of the box I shipped from bobs, I was told it was fine. On another occasion the same lady at bobs stated that the tape on my box , it was Amazon tape would not hold, not the first time I have used this never having a comment or problem prior. Yet today I went to get information from a package I had shipped four days prior, very abruptly the short heavy lady said they did not have a computer and to go to the main office and walked off. Was in this retail store in 3/2020 to pick up some Easter supplies. When the doors opened, an older female clerk greeted people by say, why aren't you home and you shouldn't be here because of the virus. Does this employee understand, if no one visited the store, she may be out of a job? The store manager/owner should correct this with their employees. read more

My go-to place when I need things that are sometimes hard to find in a local store today: place cards, candles, spools of thread, a great selection of greeting cards, holiday candy, large-size containers of spices/seasonings, and more. Best of all is the Post Office that seldom has a line--except in December and even then it's much faster moving than the one at the nearby full-service Sun City West PO--and ten times faster than the Surprise PO. This place sucks. It needs a huge remodel. The flooring is a total disgrace. The isles are so narrow you can barely walk down then let alone someone come from the other direction. It's dirt cheap for a reason. A dollar store is a better bet, cleaner and safer. I'd rate it lower if I could. read more

This Post Office has the worst customer service I have ever witnessed! A little help and consideration goes a very long ways, instead of being rude to customers that may of not known the "rules" of the this post office. For a 2 inch piece of tape to secure an item they are making people buy a whole roll of packing tape. Really? A tiny piece of tape is going to make or break the bank? NO!! It is about doing your job with a smile and a helpful attitude especially in this community where more time and help is needed. I love the store itself and the staff are friendly and always helpful....but the post office needs to work on being a little more kind with how they explain the "rules" to people that may not understand or didn't get the memo. read more

This is a review of the Post Office inside Bob's, if you have a package go to the real Post Office. One of there Post Office clerk is inept and enters the wrong bar code on the package . I had one package going from SCW,AZ. to Yuma ,AZ. end up in Oklahoma still not found. Another going to Florida end up in Georgia . Tracking number don't help , bar code is all that counts with the Post Office. These two lost packages cost me almost $200 in lost items , that were never delivered. Do yourself a favor if you have a package go to the real Post Office unless you want to spend weeks trying to track down your lost packages. read more

Just like the name says, Bob has a variety of useful and much needed products. He has so much variety that the name is well suited. The prices are a little high for my likes but that's what you pay for convenience since it's supporting an active senior community where people can drive their golf carts rather than full size vehicles. They have a post office drop off and that's really convenient too. Their hours are decent. read more

Bob's opened/extended the fabric area now called Quilts Plus so I went to visit...never again! No other customers were in the fabric section only a service person who was stocking yarn, I was never greeted, I looked around found what I wanted and took two bolts to be cut to the cutting table and waited about 5 minutes...service person just keep stocking yarn (she could clearly see me at the cutting table) so I ask if she could cut the fabric and the woman tisked me, then walked over slammed one bolt down and scissors in hand and asked how much...she tisked me -- you either want to work or NOT -- get better service people lots of people out there who might actually be happy! read more

I am always looking for a new fabric shop and this one fit the bill. Though the fabric department is only a small section of this fabulous old time '5 & 10 cent' store it carries the name brands. I have picked up Eleanor Burns, Moda, Thimbleberries and other name brand fabric here for a fraction of local quilt shop prices. They carry wide backings, battings, threads, felt, flannel, and yarn just to name a few things in that department. If you are looking for odd things and are in the area this is the shop to visit. Today I had a real bad experience at Bob's variety. There was no one in line behind me when I went up to the post employe and said in a cheering way , after all it's the holidays, " good morning, how are you this morning?' She didn't look at me and replied in a VERY rude way " I am just finishing up this here". I said " I was only asking you how you are doing and she fired at me saying " I just don't liked to be pushed". I said " I am not pushing you at all, I have all the time. When she was finished with me she said in a sarcastic way " sorry for the waiting time. I said " there was no waiting at all, you must be in a very bad mood". There was still not one soul behind me. Anyway I talked to the manager and she said " well they have been very busy this morning since 7:00 am"... it was 9:30 am when I was there. That's 2 1/2 hours of work. I said that's not a reason to be nasty with the customers. And would you believe the manager said " well, I am nasty as well, I have been working 12 hour shifts. It looks like the employees at Bob's variety are not very happy with their job. Too bad because I have been going to that store on R.H. Johnson in Sun City West AZ for 10 years. I guess I have to find another place to do my shopping. read more
