Mom and I enjoyed our time at Boca Bistro. The folks here are welcoming and kind. I think because it was not too busy, they had a couple moments to talk to us about our travels which was really nice. We sampled several things (most of the menu is set up to be shared) where our favorites were the cauliflower dish and the churros. The churros are so very light and airy. I'm pretty sure they suck the calories out because they are so light. Definitely a nice little sweet treat to end a meal. read more

Unfortunately, our dining experience was very disappointing. We ordered the ham croquettes, and they were terrible. They tasted mostly like raw flour and had virtually no ham flavor at all. We also ordered the seafood paella, but it contained more cauliflower and peas than actual seafood. On top of that, there were many empty shells, which made the dish seem more substantial than it really was. The service was very good, and the staff was friendly throughout our visit. It's a shame that the same level of care is not reflected in the food. Compared to authentic Spanish cuisine, the quality and execution of the dishes fall far short. I hope they improve because the service has potential, but the food needs significant improvement. read more

This is one of the restaurants that open to later hours on Broadway in Saratoga Springs. They have multiple long tables suitable for group gatherings. The menu has traditional Spanish tapas and dishes, but the flavor is slightly subpar. The rice in the paella is too thick and not forming a crusty texture. The shishito peppers could be more blistered/wrinkled for the flavors. But the sautéed mussels was a great combination with chorizo, definitely recommend to try Overall, we enjoyed spending time here. I ordered the flights and bites special; while I was slightly disappointed that most cocktails contained wine, I managed to find two options that suited my taste. For my bites, I chose the stuffed peppers, ham croquettes, and sautéed mushrooms. The mushrooms were wonderfully garlicky, and their aroma was incredibly enticing. This is a very casual Tapa's spot with some pretty authentic Spanish dishes. We stayed with the traditional Tapa menu and it did not disappoint. The pork belly is amazing , the clams were perfectly seasoned and cooked. The shrimp in garlic while not as authentic still very good. The manchengo and ham platter paired well with the compote it is severed with. Sangria was good not too sweet and the dessert was outstanding. The Paella de Marisco was a hit; my colleague said it was perfectly cooked. I went with the special salad they had, which was filled with avocado, pecans and apples--such a nice, refreshing surprise! So good! We shared a few sides: the Fried Potatoes with Chorizo & Tomato were crispy and super flavorful, and the Garlic Shrimp was simple but packed with flavor. Cozy spot on Broadway with the warm, eclectic decor typical of Spanish tapas spots. The aesthetic is somewhere between casual and the more fancy spots. It's super versatile and I'd go here for just drinks, a big group dinner, or as a couple. The menu was very large so you could go here for light apps or a full meal. There are tons of healthier options as well as hearty meat dishes. Great value for the presentation and upscale food options. Having free bread and olives at the start was a nice touch that not a lot of non-chain restaurants have. The happy hour deals are great for food, drafts, and cocktails. Octopus was charred but not tough and the shishitos weren't overly salty. Even the olives were above average. I'm definitely going to come back to try more of the menu because there were so many options I was interested in. Staff was friendly and fast. read more

A friend chose this spot for dinner. There are lots of options and it being tapas you can share if you wish to. The restaurant itself is very pretty, a good spot if you're looking to impress someone. I had the specialty salad that was not on the menu, the clams, and the fried artichokes. Loved the salad. The clams were cooked ok, but they put some kind of green sauce on top that tasted bitter and threw off the dish in my opinion. Also, it was too salty. I really wanted to try to enjoy that clam broth but the salt wouldn't let me take more than a few spoonfuls. The artichokes were great and even reheated nicely in the air fryer the next day. Had a mocktail that consisted of Limeade, soda water and mashed up mint, at least that's what the menu said but there was only a sprig of mint so really it was like drinking a limeade that was slightly bubbly. Couldn't taste the mint at all. Our server though, I don't remember his name, but he went above and beyond. He really couldn't do more to make our time there more enjoyable. Maybe it was just the things I ordered that weren't remarkable? I wouldn't be against going back if ever I were in the area though. read more

Was the perfect size to share with my husband; I don't think I would have wanted the whole bowl myself. Servers are SO friendly and helpful. The only negative: hardwood chairs without padding. Just finished a meal that I can only describe as "meh". Very friendly server, but that's probably the best thing I can say. We started with calamari that was barely battered and chewed like shoe leather. Very disappointing the chicken large plate had some high points with the arugula salad, corn, purée, and roasted potatoes, but the chicken itself was dry. The Fideo was ok. Pretty good Spanish tapas in the Saratoga area, but was difficult to split things with this massive group. Some of the tapas dishes I was able to grab a bite that I would recommend: Cauliflower ($16) Fried Artichokes ($14) Pork Belly ($18) For entree, I split a Paella Mixta ($68) with three others. This consisted of calasparra rice, chicken, Chorizo Bilboa, clams, calamari, mussels, shrimp, scallops, cauliflower, red & green bell peppers, peas, tomato, saffron, and paprika. We didn't have a reservation so we were seated at a high top table that felt like we were in the middle of where people walk. I am someone who truly appreciates great service, and I received that this past weekend at Boca Bistro. We had an 11am Sunday brunch reservation, and from start to finish we were well taken care of. The hostess promptly seated us, and even accommodated my small kids requests to sit in a window table. Our server, Thomas, was fantastic. He was so attentive and personable. He made the experience such a nice one. With 2 small toddlers, meals out can be stressful, especially as my 3 year old managed to drop a glass and break it. In the hustle of Sunday brunch, Thomas was at our table in 30 seconds to clean the glass and reassure our son that accidents happen. We truly had such a nice meal, and after going through some rough times, we really appreciated the time out. I'll recommend Boca Bistro to anyone! read more

On Saturday 6/29/24 we attended the wonderful Saratoga Jazz Festival. We stayed the night then decided to walk around the center of Saratoga Springs before heading back to Boston. We walked by Boca Bistro and the brunch menu intrigued us so we decided to give it a try. Boca is a beautiful place with great ambience. Service was very good. Found on a few lists for our weekend getaway to Saratoga, we should have thought a bit harder about what quality Spanish food we would find in Saratoga. I wish I could say the wait staff made up for the subpar food, but when asked what was a recommended dish our server responded with, "well the tapas are popular, the large plates are good, and yeah the paella...." Cool, thanks. Really appreciate you listing out the groups of food available on your menu. Very insightful recommendations. But perhaps it wasn't a lack of knowledge on the food, but rather knowing full well that the best thing they serve is the extra virgin olive oil the olives came in, not the oil served on the table. We tried the kale salad, sweet potato quinoa cakes, octopus, and chicken plate. The kale salad looked promising, but somehow lacked flavor even though the dressing was creamy. The sweet potato cakes could have used more avocado crema, because it would add to the flavor profile of an otherwise dull dish, the octopus was burned, served without lemon and had hummus on the side. And lastly, the chicken may have been our fault as we didn't realize it was fried chicken, aka chicken Milanese. I've been to Spain a few times and have never seen fried chicken outside of a McDonald's, so not sure where the Spanish style came from on that one. I know we're not in the city, but anyplace where I'm paying for my food should know how to season to taste and serve at least one remotely decent good dish. I'd skip it unless your a glutton for punishment. read more

Have been fans for many years but following our dinner tonight we are no longer certain that the food quality is there. We ordered a carafe of white sangria which arrived at our table half full of ice and no fruit. The wine glasses each had one slice of orange. The 4 stuffed figs were dry and the bacon wrap black. They seemed like they had been sitting in a warming dish all day. The shrimp and chorizo in polenta tasted like it was missing some seasoning. On the bland side. We were celebrating a birthday and decided to splurge with dessert, but after waiting 25 minutes we told our waiter to skip it. Perhaps it was an off night for the restaurant, or maybe short staffed, but after this experience we will rethink recommending Boca to others. read more

I came for Sunday brunch at about 1 pm and there were only a few people sitting down (more arrived later). We sat in a little nook by the front door. As always, the service here is excellent and our waiter was very attentive. I have to say, I have never been the greatest fan of their dinner but their brunch was excellent. My friend and I split four dishes: the churro waffle, the Madrid waffle, the fries, and a side of bacon. The churro waffle comes with maple syrup and butter and had a lot of cinnamon flavor. The Madrid waffle came with a berry compote and cream. I am a Vermonter and yet I wasn't missing maple syrup with the Madrid waffle. They really piled on the berries and cream so each bite of the waffle could have both components layered on top. The seasoned fries were very well seasoned and crisp. The bacon was the melt-in-your-mouth consistency that good bacon should be and was still crispy. Additionally, our brunch was actually pretty cost-effective; not what I've come to expect from Saratoga food. This is a great option for a Sunday brunch and I will definitely be coming here again in the near future. read more
