They have a large seating area with a variety of table tops. It's intimate and trendy. There's also a huge outside area (heated), that people were thriving in even though it was only 10 degrees out. The menu is broad and not your usual chain supply. If you are a picky eater you might have a hard time. Most of the food is in large enough portions you can split and trade with friends or just make it a charcuterie feast for all. Drinks were mint and I mean that in the old cool sense of the word not actually mint, although you could ask for some and they would accommodate. Friday night are for the girls. We had to decide a few weeks in advance on this place, since the reservation appears to fill up pretty fast. They also ask you put a credit card on file with them while booking a party for 5 which was incase of cancellation or not showing up with your whole party their policy says they might charge you.. a little excessive in my opinion. Drinks were tasty, rainbow cookie martini for the win. Pizza was small, steak skewers delicious but a little pricey for an app. Ricotta whip was bland and more like a yogurt. Cobb salad was huge and delicious. Mostly paying for the atmosphere. They have a wide variety of options for seating whether you're going for a casual drinks, sit down dinner or an app. They don't spilt checks and they automatically add 20% gratuity on a party of 5. I really wanted to love this because the ambiance for a romantic date was definitely there. I made a reservation for my husband and I at seven and we arrived on time. We were sat right away. There must've been some miscommunication at the front desk because we did sit for a while before someone even came over. My husband's cocktail took longer than we were expecting, but it was delicious so not the end of the world. The woman at the counter was very kind and showed us how to use the card system to taste wine. There wasn't much of a difference between the middle selection and the biggest selection for the size of the pour, but it was about twice the price. The selection was ok. The hummus charcuterie board for two was delicious and had a great selection. Our server was slow to get to us to check on us to take our food order. Our biggest issue is that the menu for sandwiches and flatbread didn't really match the ambiance. I had the turkey pesto sandwich, which was just OK. My husband had the Nashville hot chicken flatbread, which wasn't big enough to satisfy my five year-old so I felt bad because he was definitely still hungry. The staff kept messing with the awnings and the shade that blocks the sun which really wasn't necessary because it was actually cold on the patio. When it says the patio is heated, they mean the fireside table? I made this reservation as a surprise so mom and dad could have a night out, but it really wasn't that great. I just want to hop in to refresh my review. This place is a great spot. You can go in casual clothes but still feel like you're having a slightly elevated experience bc of the setting. It's a nicely designed space, bathrooms are so clean, and the patio is so fun. The most important part is that the food is excellent. Went to Shaker & Vine for my birthday this past fall. I've heard good things about their menu items and the overall atmosphere. I booked one of the fireplaces for a group of around 9 of us. Service throughout the night was phenomenal. Servers were kind and attentative. Everything we ordered tasted great and the prices were reasonable. I don't drink so I got a mocktail which was made very well. My friends all enjoyed their drinks of choice. I also brought in my birthday cake and they cut and served it to us at the end of the night. My fiance and I came on a Wednesday evening and it was still so busy! (Good for them) Make sure you make a reservation to ensure the best experience as we did. I noted in our reservation that we were celebrating our anniversary and upon sitting at our table we were gifted a glass of rose. Served us quickly and accurately. Very friendly with recommendations. We had 3 mixed drinks, Bacon wrapped dates, and the California flatbread. All the food came out quick. One item, small item, 5 dates for 2 people, 5 slices of flatbread for 2 people. That's the only thing that was remotely a small critique. The location is beautiful. It's a bit trendy here, and it can be difficult to get in at busy times without a reservation, but this is someplace I enjoyed on my first visit, and I expect to come here with friends when possible. It's nice that parking is free too. I've been to wine bars using this style of dispensing before, and I'm fine with the process as long as I'm fine with the selection. A lot of the wines were new to me. You'll also notice that the wines in the self-pour area are just a subset of their total wine selection. For the others, you have to visit the person at the stand where you obtained your chip-card, and that person can give you pours of the other wines. While our group didn't try any of the cocktails or liquor pours last night, those are also something I intend to try. I assume the liquor pours are 1 oz., and the prices seem reasonable. I'll find out more later, as I try them. The food options are fun too. It doesn't feel like it's a place you'd come for a sit-down dinner, but you can certainly create a satisfactory meal from the varied offerings. We all got flatbreads last night, all well prepared, and they were all delivered promptly. I feel the entrees are reasonably priced but the desserts are overpriced... besides if I'm here, I'd rather hunt for a pour of a dessert wine (if available), or perhaps an after-dinner cordial. My wife and I, along with another couple, made a reservation on our way to a Proctor's show. We arrived early and headed to the bar, where we encountered an unusual setup: one person behind the bar used a tablet to take our orders, which were then sent to different stations. Our four drinks were made by four different bartenders, which seemed inefficient despite its novelty. The ambiance of the place is clearly geared toward conversation. Inside, there are several cozy, coffee-table-style setups with laid-back seating, which seemed more suited for casual chatting than dining, though some people were eating. Around the edges, there were a few standard dining tables and high-tops. The open-air patio, with an option for a covered area, offered a more traditional dining setup with square tables and regular chairs. We were soon greeted by the hostess and then our waiter, whose name escapes me but who provided excellent service. We ordered the following: - The **Charcuterie Board**, designed for two but sufficient for our group of four, included Manchego, smoked Gouda, sharp provolone, cheddar, fresh mozzarella, salami, prosciutto, pepperoni, fig jam, blackberry jam, mustard, olives, pickles, everything crackers, and crostini. It was a well-rounded and satisfying spread. - The **"Getting Figgy With It" Pizza**, topped with roasted figs, arugula, fig jam, mozzarella, ricotta, and a honey glaze, was delicious but felt more like a sweet-savory dessert rather than a main course. - The **Bacon-Wrapped Dates Stuffed with Blue Cheese** were simply divine--so good that it was almost a shame we were sharing them. - The **Meatball Flight** was a letdown. I heard fabulous things about the location.... being on the river, the food, the drinks and the ambiance, so I was quite excited to come. There's some street parking along the side of the restaurant and buildings and there's also garage parking and there's the big parking lot in front of the casino. I was able to park in the garage and simply walk across the street to shaker and vine . Upon entering you're immediately taken by a really nice ambience it's got dark features but it's very open and airy there's private room space, there's a bar, as well as wine-tasting areas and beer tasting areas and then seating to eat. In warmer weather there is outdoor seating on the river. I started with a drink I heard the Pear Pressure was good and it didn't disappoint it was fantabulous Breckenridge Pear Vodka, St. George Spiced Pear Liqueur, Pear Puree, Lemon Juice, and Rosemary Syrup. I also had the Spiced Blood Orange Margarita which has Lunazul Blanco Tequila, Pür Spirits Spice Blood Orange Liqueur, Fresh Blood Orange Juice, Fresh Lime Juice, Agave Syrup,Black Salt & Cinnamon Sugar Rim. It had a bit of a Smokey flavor with with a sweet/salty edge because of the Black Salt & Cinnamon Sugar Rim. It was simply delicious and I had two. We then had the Charcuterie board which included Manchego, smoked gouda, sharp provolone, cheddar, fresh mozzarella, salami, prosciutto, pepperoni, fig jam, blackberry jam, mustard, olives, pickles, melba toast, crostini. Was in town to visit friends for the weekend and this was the first spot they brought us to. No reservations, but we were able to get a seat for 4 within 15 minutes. I don't think there's any place like this in the area, making this such a unique destination and great for dates. The self serve wine tasting machines are one of a kind. I've only been to one wine shop in NYC that has these kind of wine serving machines, but only for sampling. This with the store setup makes it an experience. We came here for dinner rather than for wine tasting and the food is quite good as well. I personally got the Chipotle Chicken Panini ($14), which consisted of chicken, crispy bacon, plum tomato, provolone, and house-made chipotle ranch on ciabatta. It came with a side of chips, appears to be opened from a bag of chips, and a pickle. The sandwich was great, with good flavoring and a slight spicy kick that is not too strong. Among the table we shared a Three Cheese Spinach Pesto Flatbread ($12), consisting of creamy Alfredo brushed flatbread, topped with garlic spinach, mozzarella, tomato, parmesan and feta cheese. Pesto drizzle. We also shared an order of the Ravioli Flight ($23), which we had four choices to make. We choose 2 braised short rib, 1 lobster, and 1 spinach. I wasn't a fan of the braised short rib and enjoyed the lobster one the most as well as the spinach ravioli. My friends got the small order of the Chocolate Fondue Flight ($16). I didn't have any as I was already stuffed, but it looked like an amazing dessert to finish off dinner. Overall, it was a great experience. Service was great for the most part. This is about my 10th time coming to The Shaker & Vine and I had to finally write my review to convince you to come! Not only is the food fantastic, but the atmosphere is amazing. You can tell someone paid a lot of money to make this place Instagrammable. Personally- my favorite is the self serve wine (during happy hour paid about 6 dollars for a glass, what a steal) and the cheese board (which can easily feed 5 people). This is the number one place I take any friends visiting me to. Make sure to make a reservation if you want a seat outside during happy hour time. I mean, I know the traffic / travel time from Albany to Schenectady can be a pain, but did I just travel to a beach front wine bar in Miami? Hard to believe, but I was just in Schenectady, on the Rivers Casino grounds, living my best life at this wine + tapas bar, at a gorgeous location on the Mohawk River. Booking the night before, the reservations were extremely limited, so I booked a table inside for 5:15 pm, shortly after they opened. I really wanted to sit on the patio, and to my surprise, they offered us a table outside. I sprung on the offer. The entire place was beautiful, but outside you are transported to a beach front bar somewhere vacation worthy. It was a great spot to settle in and chat with your close friends, relax, drink wine and order some snacks through your visit. Drink wine and eat snacks we did. First off, our service was impeccable. Our server (didn't catch their name) was so kind during every interaction we had, everything came out surprising fast and accurate. We ordered several wines during our visit. They were not on the cheap side, but it was a great selection and solid pours. I had three different red wines, and I found one I definitely need to search for in the liquor stores, Three Finger Jack Cabernet Sauvignon. The shareable plates we got were all great, light and didn't leave us feeling heavy and overly full. We both left completely satisfied without any regrets. We started with the Caprese appetizer. The flavors were great and fresh, the bread was very flavorful. The tomato to mozzarella was a little heavy on the tomato side, but still a great snack overall. The figgy flat bread had a great flavor profile. It was a bit on the sweet side for me, but I really enjoyed it as the flavors melded really well together. My favorite plate of the night was the cheese fondue. The pairing were all perfect for the melty, decadent Brie cheese fondue dip. The apples, pretzels, pita and fresh veggies all made the plate very enjoyable and balanced. I really enjoyed the vegetable forward options we chose (I was with my veggie friend, mentioned many times previously in my reviews). Although they don't present vegetarian options, a lot of the choices were pretty veg friendly. I can see myself coming back here soon, in the next two weeks maybe. I have now been to this restaurant twice and I'll be back again. It's such a nice space to gather with a group of friends or chill with your significant other. The cocktails are great, and the self service wine wall is so awesome. There are many different wines and you can serve yourself different sizes at the appropriate price points. The shareable plates are delicious. Charcuterie boards were fresh and they included housemade jams. The Buffalo chicken dip had the right amount of heat (spice) and a great chicken to cheese ratio. Their salads are large and freshly prepared. My friend had more than enough to take home for another meal. For personal plates, the lobster ravioli and butternut quash ravioli are tied for my number one fav item on the menu. The flatbreads are also pretty great as well.
