For 50 years various dentists and oral surgeons told me to leave my remaining wisdom tooth alone as it was on the nerve and could likely leave nerve damage. At the age of 77 it finally erupted and needed extraction. I was afraid of the pain and possible consequences of surgery but it had to be done. I can't recommend Dr Katz highly enough. Virtually no operative nor post op pain. I had taken pain meds prophylactic for a few days then realized I didn't need. No nerve damage. Excellent work! read more

Dr. Katz is by far one of the best oral surgeons I have used. (Unfortunately I have had to use three). I went in for an extraction due to my cracking a tooth from biting on something hard. His staff was kind and the procedure was actually painless. He gave me nitrous oxide (laughing gas) and numbed me up very well. One thing that impressed me was how fast he worked. Before I had a chance to get nervous or think about it, the tooth was out. Had some mild discomfort for a couple of days, but nothing major. His office followed up by phone that afternoon and the next day. I had a follow up visit a week later and all was well. I cannot recommend his office enough. If you are reading this, I wish you well as no one likes to have work done on their teeth, but if you have to, this office takes good care of you. read more

I am not a patient or a client, i was there to drive my boyfriend home after extraction but instead had to endure the receptionists (Dr. Katz wife) attitude towards my boyfriend and other clients in lobby for 3 hours while they pulled his tooth. It's absolutely apauling how dentist Katz lets his wife treat their clients Their customer service is disgusting. Normally after a procedure antibiotics are prescribed with ibuprofen. I guess dentist Katz doesn't know of this even though he prescribed it to another patient that was in and out for 10 minutes. DR.Ronald Katz and his office Boca Jaws are unprofessional. I am a former dental office manager for my late husband, who practiced dentistry and orthodontics. I made an appointment for my fiancé who is 78 years old and a disabled American veteran. He was in a lot of pain and the office receptionist told me I would have to pay a $200 deposit before he could see the doctor. I agreed to do that the next day when we went to see the doctor, I was told he would do a complete exam. The doctor did not know which tooth to pull when I explain to him that he could perhaps use a tool to tap the tooth to determine which of the teeth was hurting. He didn't want to do that he left the room And the next thing his office manager came in and asked for another $467 to extract a tooth which I paid My fiancé kept saying, he had some questions for the doctor who had run from one room to the next to see other patients. we were told "the doctor will answer your questions" after waiting another 40 minutes, an assistant came in and told my fiancé to come with her dad to have the tooth extracted. I asked if I could please accompany him, and was denied. I explained at that time that he was a very anxious dental. Patient and really wanted to have me with him, and again they refused. A few minutes later, the patient asked the assistant." how much longer do you think it will be before the doctor will get to me? I do know that I am an emergency and he is squeezing me in, but how long away do you think there will be" and he was told another hour. At that point he said I would like to reschedule. May I come back tomorrow and all of a sudden the doctor rushes in and says leave my office and tells the desk in a very rude voice. "do not reschedule him" at that point the doctor went into his office and slammed the door. I asked the receptionist since the service was not provided. Would she please refund the fee and she refused. She said she would only return $200 and that she would send the x-rays to us and we have not received either. I will be filing a complaint with the board of dental examiners, and I strongly advise anyone not to go to this doctor. read more

I am really baffled about all the 5 star reviews. Yes the office was clean, yes it was state of the art, yes the front desk staff was pleasant. I am a health care professional, Those things don't really matter . My tooth was removed without incident. The problem I have is I really want an oral surgeon or any surgeon or Doctor to be personable, calming and caring. Dr. Katz did not introduce himself, he did not say anything to make me feel comfortable and after the tooth was pulled he just left and did not come back in to say anything. He knew I was super nervous. I expected .. all went well or that wasn't too bad, discharge instructions, Anything!!! He was also extremely rough did not wait for the novocaine to take effect and just all around awful personality wise. I made an appointment for a consultation. I knew that they did not accept my insurance, but I called my insurance and they said to ask the dental office to submit the paperwork and we would see what happens. O.K. when I showed up for my appointment the lady at the desk was on the computer so I waited, not long. With out looking up she said "name?", no "hello" no eye contact. I asked if she could/would submit the paperwork for me even though I know they didn't take it. she said "No, I told you on the phone that we don't take that Insurance." She was very rude!!! After reviewing how they treated a veteran, I decided to take my son and get a second opinion. I am certainly glad I did because the scare tactics they used with my 17-year-old son; if those wisdom teeth hit the nerve, you're going to lose feeling in your lips and your jaw. The other surgeon's second opinion had a nice laugh about the diagnosis along . They're nowhere near the nerve, and there's no way you can get approval from your dental insurance immediately; it takes 4 to 6 weeks to get preapproval from DENTAL insurance, so needless to say, I don't recommend this particular surgeon to do any wisdom teeth extraction on my minor grandchildren. read more

I had been to my dentist about 6 times before he decided to refer me out for a root canal. I saw a great Endodontist (Dr Silberman, Silberman Endodontics) and it Turns out it was actually a wisdom tooth that needed to be extracted so I found my way to Dr Katz's office. His office was very accommodating and got me in right away. Yes, his services are more expensive than a regular dentist. But it's worth every penny. Dr Katz is board certified and knows what he is doing. I had no fears that Something was not going to go right or that there would be complications. I can honestly say it was the most calm I've ever been at a dental appointment. As far as services: They took a panoramic X-ray (I didn't even know that was a thing) and confirmed that it was the wisdom tooth to be pulled. His assistant was very nice and has great bedside manner-- really his whole staff are wonderful and pleasant and so nice. The facilities are state of the art and I really think it helps to be in a top notch setting when you're going to have a tooth ripped out of your head. Dr Katz walked me through the procedure, he was very calming and the whole thing took like 60 seconds. I went for a follow up a few weeks later and they took me in on time (I hate waiting) and Dr Katz said everything was healing great. I never had to have my wisdom teeth removed, but had heard many stories from friends and family, and I also witnessed the removal of my wife's. Everyone agreed; one MUST find the right surgeon. When our family dentist told us my daughter needed her wisdom teeth removed at 16, we got a little nervous! After hearing from a few people, we consulted with Dr. Katz. He and his staff immediately put us at ease! Dr. Katz took time to walk us through the procedure in good detail, while his staff worked with us to schedule around inevitable pending family travel, and to determ the financial aspect of it. We have insurance which covered some of the costs, but left a considerable out of pocket portion for us to cover. Dr. Katz's staff worked with us, with great flexibility, to get the finances arranged in a way which did not put us out. On the day of the procedure, all went extremely well! I was present with my daughter, and again was made to feel very much at ease by Dr. Katz and his staff. He was very sensitive to my daughter's fears and nervousness, all the while talking her through. She awoke timely and easily, and most importantly, without any major discomfort! We received clear post-op instructions, and had an easy afternoon. Aside from minor swelling, she came through to full recovery in a couple of days! She had no complications! We now live away from the area, but are seriously considering traveling to Dr. Katz to have my son's wisdom teeth removed, now that it has been recommended by our dentists. The last time I went to have my teeth cleaned, the dentist looked at my x-rays and diagnosed my wisdom teeth as being 'deeply impacted'. He suggested that I get them removed in the next 3-6 months. That was 8 years ago. A childhood filled with archaic orthodontic practices had left me with a deep distrust of anyone who would take a professional interest in teeth. But, two months of nightly wake up calls from my aching mouth left me no choice. A trip to Dr. Sutton's dental practice in Wellington confirmed my fears, my wisdom teeth direly needed to be removed. He recommended me to Dr. Katz' office in Delray. Dreading my visit to Dr. Katz, I was instantly reassured by the clean office and calming demeanor of the receptionist. My consultation with Dr. Katz was extremely thorough, walking me through the procedure, as well as the risks involved and what my recovery period would look like. I was especially impressed with his implementation of new technology, as he told me that he would be using a concentrated RF beam in lieu of a scalpel, and that the cavities left by the teeth would be filled by mixing a sample of my own blood with donated bone graft to encourage organic growth. These may be gory details to some, but I found it comforting to know exactly what the procedure had in store. The day of the surgery, I arrived at Dr. Katz' office very nervous, but was once again put quickly at ease by the office's professional atmosphere. It was seemingly a blink of an eye between sitting down in the surgical suite and being escorted to the car. Only later did my wife inform me that Dr. Katz had confided that mine was one of the more challenging surgeries he'd ever had to perform. All bleeding ceased within three hours of the surgery, and a mere five hours after waking up minus four impacted teeth, boredom of being in bed led me to take a walk around my neighborhood. Aside from a slight swelling of my face and a soreness in my jaw that kept my speaking somewhat limited, my overall condition was worlds beyond what I had expected. The next day I went about my life, everyone I encountered shocked that I had undergone a major oral surgery. By day three, I even managed to play a round of golf! Two weeks after the procedure, and I've been singing the praises of Dr. Katz and his practice all over Palm Beach County. From top to bottom, Dr. Katz' process did nothing but impress: from not tiptoeing around the ramifications of the procedure, my rapid recovery thanks to his cutting edge techniques, his attentiveness to post-surgical pain management, even offering a discount on his services when he learned my insurance wouldn't be picking up the bill. Visited Dr. Katz last December for a tooth extraction. It should be clear that I am a dental chicken. It was the most phenomenal experience I have ever had! No pain at all with the nitrous oxide. Had an emergency today (the day before Thanksgiving), and they took me in within the hour, and I needed another extraction. Again, NO PAIN AT ALL! STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE AND THIS AMATEUR THAT CALLS HIMSELF A DOCTOR!!! Please take a look at the pictures showing what this idiot did during my surgery and you'll know what I mean, and then read on. Any competent oral surgeon who's supposedly removed impacted wisdom teeth should be able to it without harming the patient! Katz to have my two lower impacted wisdom teeth removed. My appointment was scheduled for June 30, 2015 at 10:30 AM. He removed my two wisdom teeth in addition to a left rear molar that my dentist was trying to save and have crowned but he was not certain it could be saved. It was Dr. Katz's determination that it was not salvageable and had to be removed. I do not have any fear of dental procedures and I chose to remain awake with only local anesthetics and not be rendered unconscious via general anesthesia. I was very calm, as I usually am, and did not move in any way during the entire procedure to the apparent amazement and praise given to me by the dental assistant and other staff following the surgery. After Dr. Katz had completed the work he immediately left the room. Oddly, he did not stay to speak with me or to comment as to how everything went. In my experience this is very unusual. BEING VERY NUMB OVER MOST OF MY FACE I HAD NO WAY OF KNOWING WHAT I LATER LEARNED AFTER RETURNING HOME. He burned a shallow depression into the left side of my lip, not simply a minor surface burn. In almost the same place on my right he put another bad burn in addition to a fairly deep, wide cut or burn within the shallower one. He later admitted to causing the damage to my lip and said that he considered whether or not to put a small stitch to close it but he decided to leave it alone and just let it heal on its own. Cleary for an experienced oral surgeon to burn tissue off someone's lip, or anywhere beyond the boundaries of the interior of their mouth even once during a procedure, is unacceptable. To cause two or three separate injuries during the same procedure is completely inexcusable. As he is the professional, he has a clear obligation to exercise proper care and caution regardless of the size or width of someone's jaw and not cause burns and cuts into any part of their face beyond the interior of their mouth. Dr. Katz never paused to administer any kind of treatment to the burns on my lip such as ice, salve, ointment, etc. to minimize the severity or eventual discomfort. That is also quite disturbing. With my mouth held open by an internal device and the doctor continuing to work, my lips stayed quite dry and untreated throughout the entire procedure. I also developed a disturbing discoloration of my skin that started at my jaw line that extended down to a larger area at the base of my neck. After seeing my regular dentist, Dr. Weinstein, he said that the discoloration was some kind of infection that traveled into my lymph nodes, which scared me upon first hearing it. Although smaller infections might not be uncommon, the severity and duration of mine is also very unusual. In addition to the above, I've since realized that some kind of groove was put into the side of my lower right, back-most crown that my dentist will try and polish out at some future time. For at least a week following my surgery it was very difficult eating, the least of which being due to the extractions. The burn areas on my lip were very sensitive to everything. Anything that came into contact with those areas, be it my own lower teeth, food, or most liquids, caused burning and stinging. I believe my lip has now healed as much as it can but there remains some scar tissue, unevenness, and visible shallow grooves as a result of the deep burns. This is causing me to have the constant sensation that I have something on my lip that I need to wipe away but obviously can't. This is a constant annoyance. And if all that were not enough, The women handling my payment apparently overdrew my HSA account by $3.86 for which I've been charged a $25 overdraft fee and they have refused to credit me for that error. I am a Florida snowbird and needed a dentist to remove a tooth that had a problem. I read the reviews and thought since Dr Katz was close I would go see him. He seemed confident so I trusted that he could perform this routine extraction. I was planning on having an implant when i returned home to Maryland. After taking an x-ray he said he would remove the tooth. I scheduled the appointment. When the procedure day arrived, everything went as the reviews stated, no pain. Only problem was HE REMOVED THE WRONG TOOTH. My dentist and oral surgeon in Maryland reviewed the xray and said they saw no problem with the tooth that was removed and a definite problem with the tooth next to it that I had intended that he would remove.
