We ate there twice and didn't make a reservation for dinner. We waited like 5 minutes max both times, not bad. Though I think it would be a great idea to make a reservation. They were busy each night I passed by. The romantic downtown location was spectacular. Wow the cocktails were made to perfection. This was the 2nd best mixologist in town. The smoked old fashion and Thai basil Martini was the most excellent. What a unique fish dip and oyster appetizers tasted delightful. Our dinner entrée was to die for. The most tender scallops were the best in town. The next best thing on the menu would have to be the Lobster and Shrimp pinky pasta. Don't forget dessert. It just popped into my mouth with such a pleasant after taste. I encourage you to look at my photos. A special thank you to Ms. Chelsea. Our server Chelsea was incredible. I have been to Boca multiple times now. Every time I've had delicious food and amazing drinks. The service has been good but not exceptional. Once my friends meal was slightly cold and needed to be sent back. The waiter didn't bill us for it but was disappointing nonetheless. Great location near a bunch of bars and shops, therefore easy to walk off those calories afterwards! Definitely recommend checking it out if you're in town - make a reservation because sometimes it can get busy. read more

This is my go to for happy hour! We are from Charleston sc which is a culinary dream, so it's hard to find places that even compare. But friends, this one fits the bill! First off, love the atmosphere, very tall ceilings, updated and comfortable. The staff are amazing (especially the managers, all are very friendly and welcoming) It's my favorite happy hour spot, they offer $5 rail drinks & $5 apps. The Brie and apple flatbread is my absolute favorite! It's sweet and savory! Very fresh ingredients and lots of flavor with a soft flaky crust! It has Brie, Granny Smith apples, pickled red onions, sweet aioli, roasted air-chilled chicken and topped with beautiful edible flowers My husband loves the tuna tar tar, (sorry I can't recall the name) but they are like sushi on a fried wanton. Very good with lots of flavor. Lastly on special occasions I recommend the skirt stake it's char-grilled & oh sooo tender. I've been several times and always forget to get photos. Finally a date night. Hubs picked this place and first impression was the hip place to be down town Sarasota. Drinks were good, had a water down watermelon cocktail (requested less alcohol) def rec this drink. Super refreshing. Apps: tried one of everything... almost. Best zucchini fries evah. I couldn't stop stuffing my mouth. Crunchy, well seasoned, not greasy little pieces of fried veggie goodness. Tuna tacos were light and savory, I think my fave of all 3. The apple flat bread was not bad either. 5/app for happy hour. Ordered a spinach goat cheese salad with steak, hubs had the carne asada tacos. Such a great little spot in downtown Sarasota! My best friends flew in to visit while I was on maternity leave, and we wanted to have a girls night. After debating a few places, we landed on Boca for its fresh seasonal menu and laid back setting. I am diary free while breastfeeding so I only had a few options to pick from, but what I had was SO GOOD. For appetizer we had the brussel sprouts, which were the perfect amount of tender and crispy. Our waiter was super helpful with making menu selections and going over the specials. For my entree, I selected the tuna poke bowl. All the ingredients were fresh and went incredibly well together. I would definitely order it again but I will probably try something new next time because everything on the menu looked great. read more

I had reservations for 5:15 PM on a Friday night. Yeah, eating dinner at 5:15 should be illegal if you are under the age of 60, but the person I was with wanted to eat early. I don't get it, even if I was eating liver and onions at Denny's eating at 5:15 is boarderline insane. Anyway, when we got to Boco there was a nice happy hour crowd, but everyone was seatd and with proper spacing. We had the choice of sitting outside (was in the low 60's), inside or inside upstairs. I opted for upstairs with a view over looking the bar and kitchen. Was pretty intresting. Being a people watched, this was a great place to be. It was happy hour on the apps, so we ordered serveal flat breads. I honestly don't remember which ones, but in the moment they were fine, clearly just not memorable. The hostess wasn't really all the friendly, but the server was very friendly. There isn't a lot to say. It's a nice place, decent happy hour prices, staff is hit or miss (wait staff better than hosting staff), food we had was good, in the momement, but nothing that is going to leave a lasting impression. The truffle fries were great. The key lime pie jar was great too. Started off strong, I liked the zucchini fries but the entrees were sub par and the description didn't accurately describe the food. They should have called the tuna dish "poke" not bibimbap but it was ill conceived because heating the tuna some threw off the whole dish. It lacked a cohesive dressing like soy to tie it all together. Love this place! Poké bowl was bomb! Tuna tasted very fresh! Flavors were rich unlike a lot of bowls in other restaurants. Also a very generous and filling portion. We are from out of town and stopped in for brunch at Boca. Unfortunately we had a pretty bad experience. We sat at the bar and ordered an appetizer and 2 meals. All were served to us cold. The bacon looked like it had been sitting out since last night and the cinnamon roll I ordered was crunchy and dry? Not great presentation either. Also just melon in the fruit cup - pretty cheap if you ask me. Also saw the bartender using bare hands to transfer handfuls of lemon and oranges out to the bar top. Disgusting. AND! The silverware we were given was filthy and we had to ask for TWO sets of silverware because even the second set they gave us was disgusting. Definitely won't be back and DO NOT recommend. read more

Very poor service. Not sure what happened to this place but what a decline.Took forever. Tables for large group were 2 round tables making it awkward to converse. Menu does not indicated gluten free, so if you have celiac or high gluten sensitivity this is not the place to safely enjoy a meal. Most restaurants by now indicate G free, Vegan or vegetarian. It is also very odd that clean silverware placed infront of bathroom stalls where alot of people walk through. My prosecco spritzer was mostly watered down by ice and spritzer. Shrimp and grits was good a bit oily but flavorful. Fish dip was a good starter and bread was subbed for gluten free (so they say.... my stomach immediately felt bloated and ended up sick all night). I did indicate to several waitresses that I can not consume gluten. Here i am 1223pm the next day in bed trying to flush out whatever it is I was served. I definitely can not return here. read more

Meh. The breakfast/brunch items were lack luster. I ordered the Boca Smashed Hash with chorizo and they sent corned beef which looked sad. I wasn't upset about it, just sent it back and they got me the chorizo -- mistakes happen. The chorizo was just dried Spanish chorizo with a handful of peppers and I didn't really get the hollandaise but at this point I was the last one to get my food and was starving. The surcharge ($3-4) for the chorizo was ridiculous. Wife had the Cuban sandwich and french fries both were delicious. Worth noting that Sundays are endless mimosas which are a good deal. Boca not only earned a 5 star review, they were the best dining experience in our 10 day trip to Sarasota/Bradenton/LBK/AMI area! The wait staff was top notch for our early dinner reservation. Happy Hour specials were an added bonus with very well crafted cocktails and appetizers. For the main course, we opted for smoked meatloaf and the OMG burger which were both phenomenal! The meatloaf is served atop a bed of goat cheese mashed potatoes and bacon fried Brussel sprouts which sounded so-so but once it hit the palate, wow! I am so glad to come here during the COVID lock down. At least we van dine outside. My colleague suggest we have lunch here to catch up. Although I did not take the photos of the grilled oysters, I highly recommend it. The grilled oysters cooked in extra virgin oil, a little dallop of pesto sauce and top it with grated parmesan cheese was just heavenly. I ordered a Cubano sandwich for my main dish. No regrets here. A thick cut of ham, pickles, tomatoes and mustard, pressed on a griddle was perfect. I need to come back here and dine inside - looks very interesting and also need to check out the space upstairs, too. This place on my short "come back and investigate further" list for sure. Well, I had a taste for a French Dip & there it was on the menu. I asked if the meat was lean and the server said yes. Well. this was true, but it looked like packaged processed beef placed on the bread with no attempt to make it more appealing. I have to say it was a TURN OFF - I'm so sorry I didn't return it. The Au Jus was missing, I had to ask. Flavor wise, the bread was nice, the flavor was just okay, a bit salty but I couldn't get past the packaged look of the beef, which I had to remove 1/2 of it to eat. For a trendy downtown Sarasota restaurant and a $16.00 price, it just didn't hit the spot visually or even taste as it should. read more

The high ceilings, exposed brick, and central bar allows for the opportunity to get something quick at a high top or take your time in a booth - making this place a good option for any occasion. The staff is very welcoming and attentive. Despite us arriving later in the evening without a reservation, they seated us quickly and got our food out incredibly fast.
