I came here for brunch, but they really didn't have brunch food menu. Maybe due to COVID, they changed it. However, the food was excellent! Sorry, my memory sucks, and I don't remember the exact names of the dishes. I had a delicious octopus appetizer. My entree was stuffed salmon with crab meat. This place is so unassuming -- it literally looks like a hole in the wall from the street but is the most charming brunch spot in the neighborhood. They offer bottomless brunch (yasss!), unique kinds of eggs Benedict and amazing ceviche. The shrimp risotto is also tasty and not too heavy for brunch. How do you have terrible service and mediocre food on Mother's day? This was the worst service we've had in years, maybe ever. We were in the restaurant for two hours before the food came and our waitress kept disappearing. Food finally arrives and it's so so, nothing great. The final straw was that they added a gratuity for three people which is wrong wrong wrong. I came in on a Friday after work to celebrate on of my coworker who was leaving our department. From the previous post and pictures I read on yelp I was excited to visit this place. It is a narrow restaurant with the most adorable decor. There were tea cups & pots all over the walls in the restaurant. The waitress was sweet and forthcoming with the specials and menu options. It was pretty quiet but afterwards a lot of people came in. I believe, from previous reviews, that the best time to come in is for brunch on the weekends. Food is pricy but what made me more disappointed was as an Afro Latina . I went to have a good experience. What I got was like a professional attitude due to the fact that my daughter being darker complexion with dreads and we basically did not give the hostess Latina vibes . So I think what the restaurant needs to do is teach the hostesses culture ethics. Remind them that the chances of a patron's being of Latino ancestry are 70% even if they look don't look like a stereotypical of a Latino. read more

Im giving this place 5 stars because we had an amazing experience here. From the service and accommodations to the food. The place is decorated so nicely with flowers and colors and chandeliers. It looks like an upscale farm table setting. It looks so beautiful and great for pictures. There's a cute little living room type waiting area. Now to the best part, the FOOD. I got the Mama's breakfast and it satisfied my cravings for Dominican food!! It was so so tasteful and delicious!! And the plates are so beautifully decorated. The sangria is also amazing. I have to preface this review by saying we were there for a first date and based on the website and website reviews thought this would be a great place. Bocaditos Bistro is easily found on the main thoroughfare and looks outstanding from the outside and the interior was pleasant. Seating for both outdoor & indoor dining is available, especially on a sunny day. We had a great server, that tried for us... We were given an explanation of the menu and we ordered drinks, so far so good. We ordered a Mimosa and a Pina Colada. Drinks arrived quite a while later and on first sip, I felt violated! My mouth was hit with the taste of just condensed milk!!! I practically gagged because the drink was so thick, no taste of pineapple and certainly NO alcohol in it...! (We're both 21+) and my partners Mimosa looked like a glass of stale OJ! Not a single bubble and honestly, it looked like it had been sitting out and both glasses and drinks for that matter were warm. We eventually saw our server again and I or I should say, we both expressed our distaste for the drinks and opted for something else on the menu. Well, when I asked what beers were available on tap, there weren't any. When I asked about their Dyckman IPA that was supposedly touted, there wasn't any. My date asked about another particular beer and she was told it's available but in CANS.... we did eventually get our flat, tasteless beers and the promise that the appetizers were "on the way". After we sat and talked for a while (time flies with her) the apps arrived. Let me describe...She ordered crab cakes and I ordered empanadas. The crab cakes (bite size at best) came 3 on a roofing shingle, I kid you not! There was more sauce and FLOWERS scattered on the shingle as opposed to crab cakes. The empanadas sat on a plate of sauce squiggles. The empanadas were decent although I could have walked to the corner and gotten better ones from any number of roadside vendors and the crab cakes (more like crab cake fragments) did taste fresh and lightly seasoned as they should be. Now the real wait began....lol we got to order and she opted for their salad which apparently has no option for a dressing of any kind. Is water considered a dressing these days??? My date was offered some kind of lemony type of dressing (obviously guess work) and I ordered what should have been a no brained...a cheeseburger medium well. No cheese options so you know you're getting American cheese . We talked and laughed and waited probably close to 40 minutes for the entrees with a heartfelt apology because the 'chef' was having a hard time dealing with approximately 24 covers at a place that touts themselves as brunch specialists...... The food eventually arrived, the salad at first glance was ok looking but nothing I couldn't have made better in my own kitchen and the burger? It had sat so long that the cheese looked like plastic and when I went to add the spicy Mayo to the bun, it literally cracked apart and crumbled because it had sat under heat for so long. We joked and limped through the meal and vowed not to return unless the service and food quality was better. There was also a large bridal party there at the same time as us and the indication I got when seeing all of their glasses still FULL with mimosas as they were leaving means this place needs to revamp their bar service or hire a mixologist as well as fresh kitchen staff that aren't content with putting out less than mediocre food. Overall, the comedy of errors Bocaditos Bistro calls tapas, drinks and fine food made for some funny memories for the two of us and first date laughs. I wouldn't recommend Bocaditos Bistro because I wouldn't want your bad dining experience be a result of a recommendation. Oh and FYI they add 18% to your bill even with terrible service and substandard food and drinks...so be warned lol read more

After a morning run with some friends, I rushed home and changed so that I could replenish during a brunch outing with hubbs. We looked for something in the Inwood area and I came across the Bocaditos' Yelp page which was so inviting. The food pix and pictures of the decor were so beautiful. It drew me in, something so thoughtful and different in this neighborhood; very different from other businesses we've visited. We called, made reservations and found parking right in front. When we arrived, we were the only diners that I saw but there may have been more. There's a dining area on the main level, in the front and rear of the establishment as well as a small and cozy eating area upstairs. They've made good use of the limited space. They also have a small coffee bar on the main level. We opted for their Brunch menu. It is $40 (plus tax and gratuity) and consists of three courses and a complimentary glass of champs. Hubby and I had the exact same items. 1st Course: Chicken Wings & Waffles - These were so cute; basically two drummettes with one half of a waffle, presented with the syrups in a small container. The flavour was great. 2nd Course: Steak & Potato w/Fried Egg - We both really enjoyed this dish. The sauces on the plate harmonized well with the starchy potatoes and the fatty beef. We each cleaned out plates. 3rd Course: Mini Dessert - We each received a mini Red Velvet dessert which was cute but the flavour didn't do it for me. It didn't taste like real red velvet to me and I LOVE red velvet. I would definitely come back but if they only offer pre-fixe menus, I probably won't We never asked it they had an a la carte menu and they never offered us one so we just assumed they only offered the $40 brunch during our visit. I love the vibe, decor and feel of the place but for what they offer in terms of portion leaves me wondering why we paid that much for, really, two decent courses and a marked glass of champagne. I see a lot of people complaining about service and in that regard, the service we received was stellar but that may be due in part of the light seating. People started showing up after we had already ordered so we were very well taken care of. Rude and negligent. Walked in very excited to eat here on account of their expansion and beautiful decor. We were quickly placed in the waiting area al the way in the back and happily waited until we realized that 40 minutes had passed and no one had ever told us how much time there would be until we got a table. Once we realized that most of the restaurant was empty, we asked how much longer it would be and a staff member seemed surprised that we were even there and said she'd find a table right away. A few minutes later we were seated (unapologetically) and waited another 15 minutes without water. I asked someone what was going on that we had to wait so long and she seemed frustrated by my question, ruled her eyes and told us that they were preparing for larger parties and couldn't rearrange other tables. After a while of waiting for water and menus, we finally decided to leave. We also had two hungry children with us that they never acknowledged so that was enough. If you're going to the MET Cloisters you absolutely, positively have to make this cute and charming restaurant your first stop. The decor is lovely and the vibe very homey. The Brunch menu is simple but all inclusive --as in, I'm sure that you'll find something that speaks to your taste buds -- for me it was the "Grandma's Breakfast" or something like that (The Mangu Dish). It tasted as good as it looked and the presentation was A+. The service was ok and although it could have been a bit better there aren't really any real complaints on my end. This place has an absolutely gorgeous atmosphere. However it's totally lacking in food and service. We ordered steak and crab sliders. First of all, they need a menu change. But secondly the crab was over processed and fried for too long. Would be better if they just served 1 crab patty. The steak was ordered medium rare and was over cooked. A tragedy since they offer 3 different kinds of steak. The staff was stumbling over trying to recite the specials and talking in general. There was also a lot of playing around instead of being mindful. The dessert which was a bread pudding with Nutella was forgettable. The best thing we had and is worthy of mentioning is the vegan tartare. The flavors were perfect and just right. All in all, I'd be willing to go back and maybe try something else or their brunch. My boyfriend and I came in for a date on a Sunday. The ambiance in the restaurant is so unique and refreshing. The exterior wall is covered in beautiful flowers.( photo opp and insta worthy) Music was just loud enough to hear but encouraged conversation. We had the Thai lettuce wraps and the Chicken Taquitos for starters both soooo delicious. Entree choice was Surf and Turf Pasta and crab cake sliders. Both were equally as savory and tasty. I looked around for a bit but nothing was really standing out...till I saw this super cute yellow place filled with flowers. What a find! Its an elegant (and super cute) place right on the border of Inwood and Washington Heights Food was amazing and staff was super friendly (thanks Susana!) and knowledgeable. This place was delicious, it had a great ambience and the service was great. You felt like you were taken care of. Most of the servers speak Spanish and are super polite. The food was spectacular, came out in a timely fashion, and was very tasty. We got the chismosa drink and it was delicious and if you didn't eat anything before hand could definitely feel the alcohol. They just painted a new mural that ties to the owners Dominican roots. It's very homey, trendy, and a great place for birthdays, girls night, or dinner with your mom or someone like that. You do have to have your COVID vaccine card to eat inside, there was some music playing in the background but nothing you had to hell over to talk. I made reservations a few days ago for today 8/29 for my sisters birthday. reservations were for 9pm. we got to the restaurant at 8:40 and when we walked in the place was closed. the cook told us they were closed for the night but that's impossible considering I made reservations for 9pm and there was a 9:30pm reservation available as well. This place is so freakin cute. Went here on a date night, we got the Tuna Totore? I don't think I'm spelling that correctly. It's tuna with avocado and seaweed salad on toast. Then he got the chicken and mashed potatoes and I got the lobster and steak pasta. For drinks we tried a lychee bellini (not entirely sure of that name, but it was lychee in a sparkling wine) and then a fruity mango drink that was absolutely delicious. The menu is pricey (ngl, I didn't see the check, but I got a ballpark) but the people here are so ridiculously nice. The wait time for the service was terrible. Almost 30 minutes for a sad empanada that was not fried or baked all the way. And almost 45 minutes for a main course that I could've made in my home. Oh. Bocaditos. The TRAUMA. I will lead by saying that this review is for an event that was planned here, not for a single meal. We reached out to Bocaditos Bistro to plan a bridal shower due to how beautiful the space is and how excited we were about the well-reviewed food. We originally contacted Susana, who gave us the information about reserving their mezzanine space, which supposedly accommodated fifty people. She informed us that we absolutely needed fifty people to book that space. As we spoke on the phone, she rushed and added details including that there would be no cake--cutting fees, the length of our bottomless package, dates for final headcount, etc. We sent a Venmo deposit. We waited weeks for a contract, only to hear from Susana that in the last weeks of 2022 she did not deal with contracts directly, that she had no email, and that a Venmo receipt would suffice to book a party. It was aggravating to have to explain that contracts were useful to have the details of a party down in writing - only for her to later say that we had to come into the restaurant to sign a contract in person, which would be drafted by a chef. Cue in Chef Alexis Pimentel. Very responsive, conversations seemed a bit more grounded, less rushed, guy seemed like he knew what he was talking about because details wouldn't change mid-conversation as they would with Susana. Mind you, pricing details, packages were COMPLETELY DIFFERENT than what the lady Susana who had taken our deposit money had told us. Chef Alexis assured us that there was no need to sign a contract in person, and that he would stipulate party details in an email and send them to me. Thanks! Three days before the event I sent the chef final headcount as we agreed. He assured me that he'd be there at our reserved mezzanine space at the start of the event to help us get started. Day of - we arrive. NOTHING IS SET UP. Waitstaff directs us to the small space that accommodates FAR FROM FIFTY PEOPLE. NO STAFF TO BE SEEN THERE THEN. WE HAD TO SET UP THE TABLES AT THIS RESTAURANT. SEATING WAS SHORT BY OVER TEN GUESTS, which were CRAMMED ON TOP OF EACH OTHER. It was a CERTIFIABLE NIGHTMARE. I called the chef for assistance and accountability, which said he was outside parking the car and would be right over. He never arrived. Hours after the party was over, he texted me saying he had been in the kitchen, and why did I leave because he had wanted to say hello. I left him on read. I want to thank the waitstaff Bory and Alexander, who despite their bosses putting them in this HORRENDOUS situation, did the best that they could. P.S. They didn't discount the $500 deposit off the check until I pointed it out, so take note. Clearly they're planning events off the tops of their heads. read more

We ordered entrees at the same time and it came an hour and 15 mins later. Everybody's food was cold, no taste. I just love this place! It's so quaint and classic and just lovely! The ambiance calls for romance and chill. It calls for relaxation and laughter, that quiet laughter with your loved one because you're enjoying the music in the background with some drinks and these great beef empanadas. While my greedy ass would love more than just 2 empanadas per serving, I can't stop praising these little appetizers, so much flavor! The eggplant croquettes are also a must, you have to try them, even if you don't like eggplant, trust me! My husband ordered the burger caballo- let's talk about this beauty for a second; it's so damn good! The fries are cooked to perfection, too! I ordered the penne pasta and I can't be happier. I'm a sucker for great flavor and well cooked meals, this place gives me all of that. One of my favorite cute places in Inwood, for sure! So let me just say that Malachi is great!
