Had spaghetti with meatballs & the pasta of the day, shrimp alfredo. The shrimp alfredo was great, with a rich creamy sauce with great shrimp & garlic flavour. Meh I mean it was fine. The waiter was kind of rushing us but that's to be expected in an airport. I got meatballs with focaccia and let's just say, it wasn't focaccia. It was this thin crispy bread with very little flavor. I think it was just baked pizza crust. The meatballs were fine but lacked depth of flavor. read more

I usually get food at Starbucks but wanted soup. This is the only place that offers soup in the US terminal. I got the butternut squash soup that comes with a side of garlic focaccia. The soup was ok a little clumpy but the garlic focaccia is literally like dry cardboard. It's also $12 for the smallest soup cup that I finished in like 5 spoonful. Can't believe I am saying this but wish the Tim Hortons bring soup into the menu for the US terminal location. read more

My review is for Boccone at Toronto Pearson International Airport in Terminal 1. The problem? There are two Yelp listings and I don't know which one is for U.S. departures by gate F57. For this listing, there are only four reviewed. One specifies gate D42, which means a Canadian departure. I can't tell with the other reviews. Because the locations are the same for both listings, they will both have similar reviews. Last Thursday, I decided to get a bite to eat at Boccone. It's not exactly next door to gate F57. Rather, it's across from Booster Juice, which wasn't far after you clear customs. There were a bunch of folks waiting for their food. I had to walk by them to get to the lineup. This place has paninis, pizzas, pastas, and more. I had had pizza for breakfast, as I needed to eat all my leftovers before jetting off. I went with a panini here. They looked yummy. I went for the massimo panini. It had shaved roast beef, asiago, honey mustard aioli, radicchio, lettuce, and tomato. It was toasted and cut in half. I also grabbed a bottle of Diet Pepsi, which is away from the counter. I paid with a debit card. It was just under $19. You basically find a place within the eatery to sit down and eat. I found a free single table with two chairs. My backpack occupied one seat. I sat in the other. The table had crumbs on it. I wiped it down and then sat down to eat. My panini was yummy. I loved the roast beef with asiago. So good! The honey mustard aioli was subtle. The lettuce was iceberg that was shredded. It would have been better with romaine. The iceberg didn't taste fresh, which was the only disappointing part of my panini. The bread was perfectly toasted and delicious. I was thirsty. I drank my entire bottle of Diet Pepsi before remembering to take a photo of it. It was nicely chilled. I enjoyed it. It was a nice change coming here. I'd return to try some pizza or a salad. This review is for the Boccone Pronto area-Toronto Pearson Terminal 1 Gate F57. If I am ever in this area -I won't be stopping here. The pizza is a chewy oily mess. They ran out of cheese pizza. The Margarita pizza did not have bay leaves just tomato and cheese. The service was okay. I tossed half my slice (the portion size is good) because I just couldn't eat anymore. It was morning and we were looking for a place to get breakfast. Lo and behold this restaurant was right next to our gate and so we decided to sit down. They definitely put effort into the decor and comfort, and honestly I think they did their best considering the circumstances, so that is a plus. The service - it seemed like they had one waiter (who was nice but seemed to struggle with English) and maybe even only one cook at the time. Almost half the seats were full at one point and it seemed nobody had their meal. My group was one of the first to be seated and our order taken so we got ours in a relatively decent time, but I'm not sure how it was for everyone else. Nevertheless it seems that their staff is split WAY thin and they could benefit from hiring more servers. I felt bad watching the one guy struggle with communication but still doing his best to multitask 3 tables at once. The food - I'm not really sure how else to describe it other than it was quite edible. Everything was a bit bland and I cleared my plate with no complaints, but definitely nothing especially good to say about it either. My overall thoughts? "Meh." Wasn't good, wasn't bad. Decent place to have a sit-down meal and a drink, though they should definitely hire more people. Would I come here again? This establishment refused to serve me and my friends because we were american and weren't sitting upright enough to their liking. They accused us of being drunk. We spoke with their manager and it became apparent that they were racially profiling us. Do NOT support this business. read more

Great place to sit down and grab food, enjoy a beer or drink while waiting to board at your gate or to grab and go for your plane ride! I didn't take a picture but I had opted in for what I thought was the quickest option and it was the flatbread style pizzas. Ordered the mushroom option and it was ready in a flash after being heated up. At first I was leery of the cold demeanour in the display window but I figured my options were limited as I was not about to pay $20 for tiny, cold cut up veggies at another stall and didn't quite have enough time to wait for Thai express or Tim hortons. Boccone seemed like the best option for minimized aroma and bang for buck. As soon as the (very kind) staff took my order and placed the pizza in the heat press I was so happy LOL. I believe I paid $13 and it was just a really good grab and go item for the ride. It does get full as the dine in option was packed! Misery loves company so why not enjoy a bite and beverage with others all anxious to fly? read more

Same old, same old " Boccone Pronto " A quick change of name on this review page doesn't improve the long history of good food yet very bad service and ambiance at this Terminal 1, post security airport location situated by the D gates area. Previous long standing 2 star average reviews are under the business name "Boccone Pronto" here on Yelp. The only reason it gets two stars today is because the actual Italian omelette was very good indeed, not photo worthy but very good. Here it goes! Let's briefly go back in time to pre-COVID... Yes, I can't believe It's been a good two years since I last visited Boccone by Gate D42 and just like that, very fast, it was déjà vu all over again... like it was the day before. Seating, tvs, everything is the same; as are the staff and atmosphere. Expecting the menu from always, I had the " eggs Massimo " in mind - and reason for my visit's intent to start with; named after the restaurant's branded chef association, " Eggs Massimo " is an Italian style shakshuka, sunny side fried eggs and crispy bacon (or other offered choice of meat) in a skillet of sizzling tangy and chunky tomatoe sauce. It's 6am, ice cold open air dining rom, sitting on the same communal table by the bar, smell of grease exhaust from their fryers everywhere and poof ...it all came back,...everything was like the previous times I had here years ago! As I sat myself down, here I was waiting....waiting ....and waiting... hello? I raised my hand trying to get the staff's attention; 4 of them are visible and it's a quiet 7am.... Hello, hello? Finally, The blonde haired waitress didn't want to be annoyed by another customer, her other co-worker displayed the same style indifference to another table they were attending to... and at last, hallelujah, I get the paper, one page menu. Anticipating the eggs Massimo, I always knew that item was great regardless of my memories of this place; that plate was so good it smashed those memories to make room for my appetite hehe and all of a sudden, BAM! Big blow to that anticipation! Im told " due to COVID, we only have a few items on the menu "; since I had been sitting for so long, I reluctantly remained and ordered one of the only overpriced 4 breakfast items on the menu. Now, the government has lifted all COVID restrictions long ago - and if you are true to the statement she made " due to COVID " - than QR code paperless menus, hand sanitizer and other COVID protocols should have been part of the program! I see it as They are just being lazy and adding one layer to the bad of the same old same old pre-COVID memories I have of this place. Perhaps a little patience and courtesy, would have gone a long way versus the robotic - " you order we serve " curt atmosphere that is created by default, just like old times! Anyhow, I ordered the Italian omelette, and when asked what makes it Italian, the waitress states that it's the ham. Well, I found that to be pure bs and arguably, when the plate landed on my table, I would say that what made it kind of Italian and worthy of my lineage was a decent amount of melted fresh mozzarella, which was terrific, so there you have it. Is it any different when you throw feta cheese on anything and call it greek just for the namesake; oh yes! Aside from the omelette, the carb loaded platter came with diced fried potatoes that appeared like the ones from a grocery bought freezer bag and thick proper Texas style toasted bread slices - bread was terrific as well! So, the omelette by itself was excellent hence the two stars; but - while wolfing it down, I was reminded why I disliked this restaurant for all the years it has been here by Gate D42; my experiences with the food have always been good to terrific but terrible with the service and ambiance as a whole. A coffee cup, Italian omelette platter and $28 later; I was reminded at every step why I disliked the service and atmosphere of this restaurant over the pre-pandemic years hehehhe I couldn't wait to leave and run along to my gate; Adios Boccone! read more
