Lucchesi's Delicatessen. It's in the area of Petaluma's Safeway. . The gym. . The bank . , and some delicious ice cream. . I used to call in, but it does get busy during lunch time so probably better to walk in. It does get busy, but it'll go by. Cold cuts, potato salad, and small salads and things, lots of chip and beverage selections ( no alcohol, but they got great selection of drinks ). 1/3 deli shop and 2/3rd's sandwiches Cosy and comfortable. Here's what you gotta do: Walk in . Get greeted and get your sandwich order in with the guide of your server. Get a ticket. Browse and pick out what you'd like on the side. Number is called and pay for everything. Then get your sandwich and get whatever you picked out. Straight forward . I was too into their buffalo hot chicken special for the longest time. I recommend it. I have had their Italian too, which is good. I think I'll hold off the horseradish next time when I got it. Im also a Dutch Crunch kind of guy when I buy a sandwich (the bread you love to choose in your sandwich is a sacred thing to share amongst sandwich lovers). The food was so good that I would gladly make the drive from San Francisco to Petaluma just to eat here again. The barbecue was outstanding, but the real surprise was the peach tres leches cake. WOW. It was incredible and an absolute game changer. Moist, flavorful, and the perfect ending to an amazing meal. The portions were generous, the quality was excellent, and every bite was worth it. You can tell they take pride in what they serve. If you're anywhere near Petaluma and love great barbecue, do yourself a favor and stop here. There was one young employee left to handle the register by himself while a line of customers continued to grow. At the same time, there were several completed orders sitting on the counter waiting to be bagged and handed out. My food sat there for about 10 minutes before I finally walked up and asked for it. What made the situation frustrating was that there were multiple other employees standing at the other end of the restaurant talking and laughing while this one employee was clearly overwhelmed, trying to do the work of two people. It wasn't until I asked about my order that another employee came over to help at the register. This isn't a reflection on the young employee he was doing his best under difficult circumstances. My concern is with the lack of teamwork and support from the rest of the staff. The food is still excellent, but I hope management addresses this so employees aren't left struggling alone and customers receive the service they're expecting.
