I've now had Urban Deli three times, and it has been consistently good. I'm not feeling great and decided to order a few proper meals to have on hand. Everything I ordered made me say 'oooh yeahhhh'. I'm feeling better already. I got the Greek lamb bowl, chicken shawarma plate, gyro with hot sauce, and one of each baklava All of it was incredibly flavorful. The rice alone is a standout, and I felt transported by the flavors. :)) I found the portions to be generous and an excellent value. SEP2025 This was a good find. We've been looking for a solid mediterranean place in the area and this hit a lot of marks for us. When we stopped in mid afternoon, unfortunately they were out of a number of different dishes to try. Many people would come by and pick up food to go, and there were some 2 person tables inside for seating near the window. Service answered any questions we had. We had ordered a mediterranean sample plate, and a beef kebob plate. The hummus and salads tasted fresh, the beef kebobs had good flavor and bite. I'd say the piece I liked best was the falafel. It wasn't grainy, and had a light and crunchy exterior; almost flaky. I'd go back just for that really. Certainly worth the stop tho, I'll have to check out the lamb, lentil soup, and the moussaka another time hopefully. read more

If you are looking for a delicious meal, look no further! I just had this Beef Kefta Kebob Plate, and it exceeded my expectations for authentic Mediterranean food. The Beef Kefta was seasoned very well with traditional spices, juicy on the inside, and had a beautiful char from the grill. We ordered lentil soup, a falafel wrap, and a chicken shawarma wrap. The lady who took our order was very nice and helpful. The inside was clean and there were a few tables. Our food came out pretty quickly! The lentil soup was a little on the salty side but it was pretty good. The wraps were our favorite part! The falafel wrap was delicious! I love falafel and know it can be a little dry at times. This wrap was perfectly made! The chicken one was our favorite! It wasn't dry at all and the chicken was seasoned perfectly and paired well with the fresh veggies and wrap. I loved this place while visiting Petaluma. It was my first time and I ordered a sandwich which was great but the bowls looked amazing too. I was by myself for lunch and the owner Sam made me feel welcome and comfortable. Placed my order online and waited 20 minutes before taking the 5 minute walk over there. 25 minutes after placing my order, I was worried it would be cold at this point. Instead they told me it would be another 10-15 minute wait when there were only 2 other people in the whole restaurant. Sandwich came hot but without toasted bread so it was immediately soggy. Asked for no pickles and sourdough bread, it came with pickles and on rye bread. Got my order entirely wrong. How did it take 40minutes to make this terrible sandwich? Got some takeout from this place for the very first time -- the kebab plate. For whatever reason, everything was so salty. The hummus was salty to the fact that even if I ate it with the pita bread I can still taste the salt. The kebabs were salty. The rice was a little less salty. Aside from ordering amazing takeout from here, we just had urban deli cater a party for us for about 80 people. The food was phenomenal and 100% authentic. Our guests couldn't stop talking about how good it was and those with little kids were happily surprised to see their kids enjoying the shawarma, beef kefta, rice and tabbouleh. The portions were extremely generous and there were tons of leftovers for us to enjoy for the days to come! As far as service, Sam was the best to work with! He was great at communicating and getting back to me quickly. Checking in as we neared the event date and making sure I had the right setup to make sure food stayed tasting good the day of. I had to call my mom and see if they needed lunch... my mom had me bring her the chicken shawarma and since her boyfriend only likes beef, the owners let us swap out the chicken for beef kabob. While we waited for the food-to-go we were treated to fresh walnut baklava and chocolate baklava. First... OMG I have never had such amazing baklava... and I've had A LOT of baklava! Just sweet enough, flaky, crunchy yet soft. Not over-wet or over-sticky. And the chocolate baklava was a stunner... perfect flavor, not over rich or chocolaty. I had to bring some home and share some with mom, who also agreed that everything was EXCELLENT. It's very rare for me to give a review after one meal, so today I got the chicken shawarma bowl and my husband the falafel bowl to-go with a large side of hummus. Since my last review, I've been back to Urban Deli maybe a dozen times or more and have tried many other things from the menu and no big surprise, but everything is so fresh, flavorful, and delicious. My go-to is still the gyro wrap and yes I still unequivocally consider it the best gyro wrap I've had, not just in Petaluma, but probably all of Sonoma County. I recently had a falafel wrap as well and it was out of this world delicious - the falafel have a crispy exterior and an interior that is so smooth, soft, moist, and absolutely packed with flavor. As a self-proclaimed omnivore, I can honestly say I could have the falafel wrap all the time and not miss meat at all. We've also tried pretty much every plate option and they're all fantastic, depending on what protein you're in the mood for. All the meat plates come with delicious saffron rice, a side cucumber/tomato salad, hummus, thinly sliced red onion, a couple pieces of pita, and a sprinkle of sumac. My personal favorite is the chicken shawarma, but of course all the meats are super juicy, tender, and packed full of flavor. Also, don't miss the Mediterranean sampler plate - it's a great way to try many of the salads and dips they have available, and while all the salads/dips are delicious, their hummus and dolmas are absolutely to die for. It makes for a great meal by itself as well! On top of the amazing food, this is a small, family-owned business, and Sam and his wife are the nicest, warmest, and most welcoming people you'll ever meet.
