They're very quick despite long morning lines and the bagel sandwiches are pretty tasty! I'd definitely rank their bagels above chain breakfast restaurants, though I wouldn't go so far as to classify them as authentic. Bodo's has the best bagels ever. They do not freeze the dough or skip the boiling process. They make the bagels the real way, so they are crispy on the outside and chewy in the middle. Best bagels in C'Ville and beyond. They have really adapted well in regards to Covid by creating a two line drive-thru so that you never leave your car. One place I would like to see a change is the enforcement of employees wearing masks inside. I witnessed an employee sitting inside by the back door with no mask on. She was likely on a break, but it made me nervous as a customer that there are employees hanging out inside without masks, especially in an establishment that serves food. I'm hoping it was a one-off and not the status quo because I do love this bagel shop! read more

Amazing bagels for the best prices. I usually just buy the bagels and then assemble them as sandwiches at home, but dang are they good, especially at 0.85 a piece. There's ample parking, and the ambiance in the store is very lively and usually full of family gatherings on the weekends. It's always a treat to stop by whenever in Charlottesville. read more

Ok so I order container of chopped liver . Is this a joke ? Empty container ??? I ordered 2 they were placed in my bag and noticed when I got home they each contained like two tablespoons. Every visit I make to Charlottesville there's always a stop to Bodo Bagels. Whether it's to grab a bacon egg bagel breakfast sandwich or bagels to go along can't leave without something . I can not rave enough about the bagels egg and bacon sandwich it's always so tasty and filling. The sausage on the other hand it not good it taste like chemicals. The last visit I had here at the end of April 2023 I ordered 2 sandwiches both the exact same plain bagel bacon and egg simple right? Wrong they gave me a bacon egg cheese and ham bagel sandwich. Now I was only charged for what I I ordered which was bacon egg bagel. Also I should mention the ham here is not tasty at all. I didn't notice the issue until I got in the car and about 1 hr away on my drive home. I was very disappointed because even when I took the ham off you could still taste the remainder of the ham from the sandwich and this mistake was on BOTH sandwiches. read more

Unpopular review: these are just okay. Im from NJ. I know good bagels. These are 1/2 the size, you can't get them toasted (!!!), and aren't worth the carbs IMO. The Caesar salad is a hidden gem. read more

This restaurant is excellent. There isn't much space inside so that ordering can be rough, and parking can be tough on the weekends. They do have quite a few seats, so finding a seat isn't too bad. They offer great bagels with different types of cream cheeses, breakfast sandwiches, and multiple salads. It kind of reminds you of a New York bagel joint. Bodo's bagels is highly recommended in this area but I found that to be overrated. Don't get me wrong - they were definitely good but not the best what I've had. Had many many options of bagels and cream cheese. Also on their menu are egg bagels, beverages, sandwiches and some sides too. Apart from cream cheese you can also add hummus on yr bagel for an extra charge. Went there at breakfast time in morning- the place was very busy and even the drive through lines were long. The second time we went in afternoon and this time the lines were shorter. Tried the bagels which were good and some of their bagel sandwiches which were just average. read more

When I was a student at UVA, Bodo's was the universal staple. I visited Charlottesville this past weekend and knew I had to make a stop (or two) at my all-time favorite bagel place. Don't be scared by the line...it moves QUICK and the bagels are baked to perfection so you won't be disappointed. I can come for breakfast/brunch and get a solid egg and cheese (sometimes with No Bull if I'm HUNGRY) bagel, or lunch and get a sandwich for whatever mood I'm in! The options are endless so if you're feeling basic you can get a standard bagel with cream cheese (I'd recommend the Jalapeno Lime or Honey Pecan), but if you're more adventurous you could go for a bagel sandwich with lettuce, onion, tomato, pesto, red pepper spread, and provolone (just spitballin' here :P). In any case, Bodo's is by far the best bagel spot in Charlottesville and I highly recommend. read more

Deeeeelish! Crunch on the outside, chewy on the inside. Drive-through during Covid worked like a charm - there was a long line but they kept it moving nicely. There weren't as many flavor options as I'd hoped for but the everything bagel was solid. My husband was a big fan of his egg & cheese & ham bagel sandwich and my kids liked their plain bagels. Look, I love bagels, and this place I good! The staff is great, VERY quick service and the menu is massive, you have plenty of options. I chose my go to bagel sandwich of sausage and egg (they use real eggs) on an everything bagel. I was not disappointed. THE BEST bagel I have ever had; nice crunch exterior with a soft interior, and the sausage and eggs were cooked perfectly! My only regret was that I did not get a dozen to take home! Oh, Bodo's! I have such an affection for this bagel place. While they have a variety of offerings, I am deeply committed to my favorite order--a toasted ET bagel with green goddess cream cheese. I think we're all pretty married to our favorite bagel order. The line on the weekends can be pretty long, so be prepared for that. They're great for catering--who doesn't love to see a Bodo's box brought into the office?! The bagels freeze really well too. From Houston, we were not privy to the excitement of having a Bodo's bagel. Our friends told us it was a must, so on a Sunday morning, we found ourselves in line. This place is so busy! But I can see why, the food was yummy. Luckily, the line may seem really long, but they are pretty efficient and the line moves pretty quickly. I never had gotten super excited about the bagel, but with all of the options and ways to customize your bagel, I could see myself going here more often if I were a local. For me, I ordered a corned beef bagel with cream cheese. It was delicious, albeit, very hard to eat. The slipperiness of all the meat and cheese goodness inside, made every bite messy and hard to eat. Everything kept slipping around. perhaps I should have cut it up and used a fork to eat.... My friend and I stopped here before touring UVA law school. The prices and the quality are exactly what you want and the sausage egg and cheese sandwich was one of the best I've had (aka not a greasy mess). The cream cheese is really good and if you like it enough you can take a tub home with ya. A co-worker took me to this Bodo's in 1994, and I've been coming here ever since. Bodo's is to Charlottesville, what The Varsity is to Atlanta. IMHO, this (Emmet St) is the best of the 3 Bodo's locations. Bodo's knows how to make a Caesar's Salad: "Romaine lettuce, the classic olive oil dressing made from scratch, our own croutons, and Parmesan cheese. Bold, garlicky, acclaimed." I have the Caesar's Salad every time I come here. Every time. And bagels! I can't get bagels this good in Richmond! I usually order a dozen garlic bagels to go (to take home & freeze). But eating in, I'll order a Garlic Bagel with 3 Cheese, Swiss, Provolone, and Muenster. With mayo. And heated. Do Bodo's. You won't be disappointed! read more
