I went to Body & Mind Spa for the first time expecting to have a relaxing day after 2 months giving birth where I didn't get enough rest at home. Glad my mother was visiting and helped me to watch the baby. I had 60 min massage. I told the masseuse before it started not to massage my lower back since i had epidural before and it was still painful. But she gave some pressure on that spot. It became even more painful after the massage for a few days. I also had facial at the same day. It was not a good experience. The lady who did the facial put a hot towel on my face, and it was TOO HOT! Then she roughly rubbed my face with it (I usually just pat my face gently). I never come back since then. read more

I read that some of the complaints are due to the noise factor (hearing people outside of the massage room talking, walking, etc), but that doesn't bother me as much because the quality of the massage I received overshadowed whatever else was going on. This place is nicely in the cut at the mall. I enjoyed my massage and facial. My therapist did a wonderful job on my deep tissue massage and made sure I was comfortable with the pressure. She informed me whenever she was changing up or leaving the room. I was not a fan of the cold room temperature felt like I was getting sick right afterwards but of course I had a facial with steam so sinus opened and closed so I understand why I was feeling that way. Did feel a little rushed so I would suggest not schedule two procedures before closing cause people want to leave at their said time so maybe no later than 4pm schedule if 5pm you may feel rushed or just get one thing done. Went here for a prenatal massage. Let's start with the pros. + I only paid $8. I received a gift certificate from work. Now, on to the cons. I was scheduled at 10am, they open at 10am. They weren't ready at 10 so there I am, sitting in their awkward little leather chairs with leaf shades over top to shade you from... their lighting? I wasn't offered tea or another beverage while I waited and I even get tea from Palazzio waiting for a quickie nail job.. I filled out the form about what I wanted out of the massage and what problems I was having. I noted my hip pain and low back pain from carrying my son. When I got into the room the masseuse said to leave my jeans on. I'm sorry, WHAT? I specifically said I had hip pain and I am leaving on jeans? Even when the main concern isn't my hips I've never had a massage with jeans on. I've always been told to undress to my own comfort level. So there I was, uncomfortable, imagining if I'd taken my pants off I'd get slammed with some kind of sexual harassment suit because I was told to leave them on. Ok, my imagination is a little over dramatic sometimes but yeah. So finally she comes in and I understand a couple preliminary questions relevant to the massage but she starts asking me whether I'm from here and all this other crap. Silence is golden. I'm not here to talk to you, I want to relax. Finally she stops talking after I start giving single syllable answers. She starts slathering on peppermint oil or lotion, whatever. I'm still preoccupied with the fact I'm wearing pants, I feel like my booty crack is hanging out and that's more unattractive than just being sans clothes and I'm thinking about peppermint oil on my jeans. I'm used to the Aveda way of doing things where I can get a spa service but I have everything there to make myself presentable again, I can shower if I need to, I can blow my hair out, whatever. No such luck at Body & Mind, I not only smell like I took a roll in a peppermint patty but she starts using the same peppermint stuff to massage my scalp. Are you joking? I was going to a thing at my husband's work afterwards and I knew I wouldn't have time to go home and change or re-do my hair. It would be one thing if I could touch up there but again, no such luck. Aside from that it's a damn prenatal massage, why are you rubbing my scalp? From my pregnancy it's my legs, hips and low back that's suffering, not my head until you started destroying my hair. Overall I wouldn't go back, even with another gift certificate. It was a waste of time and between listening to her and being distracted because I was wearing JEANS instead of getting my hips rubbed and then being a hot mess when I was late to my husband's lunch thing because they schedule you to be there before they are I was less relaxed than before the ordeal. I went to Body and Mind Spa in Pearlridge for a mother/daughter spa day. We got the facial, massage and aromatherapy back steam. We also requested a manicure and pedicure. We were told that at Body and Mind Spa, they don't do manicures or pedicures. They had us fill out a form that went over our problem areas. The facial was relaxing but it ended up making my skin worse than it was when I got in and there was no consultation about what my skin was like and how i should take care of it or what the esthetician would be doing. As for the massage, when i filled out the form, i listed my lower back, neck and jaw as my problem areas. Once again, there was no consultation about what type of massage would be good for me. The majority of the massage was the masseuse sliding their hands up and down my back. there were a few times that they even put pressure on my spine, which is a big no no, if pressure is put in the wrong place on the spine you can pinch a nerve or paralyze the client. When i was asked to turn over on my back, i was uncomfortable and asked for a bolster for the small of my back but did not receive one. As for the aroma therapy back steam, it was pretty much just an electric blanket wrapped in moist towels. And there was no aromatherapy at all. Finally, we went to pay, and even though the tip was included in the price of the package, we were asked to give more of a tip. This experience was horrible and a bit stressful. Which is the opposite of what you would like from a spa. I DO NOT recommend this spa to anyone and if anyone i know says they are going to go there, I would try my best to dissuade them. read more

This place used to be called Chemistry where their focus used to be on products such as hand soap, shampoos, conditioners, etc. The best part was being able to choose your own scent for the products. I never used to spend a lot of money on hair care until I tried the shampoo and conditioner and fell in love with it. I've been buying those two products at $20 each ($40 total) every month since the bottles available were only big enough to last a month. That was fine with me since that meant getting a new scent every month. Slowly I started to notice changes - the popular scents would run out and never come in, they wouldn't have the right sized bottles, and the last straw for me, they didn't even have the shampoo and conditioner! The girls there had always been really nice but since they started focusing on massages and waxing, whenever I would ask for help with their products it seemed like it was such a hassle. I guess it meant taking time away from the one person lining up to get a massage. Most times I went in there, I was the only customer in the store and I wasn't even greeted. I had to go up to the two people behind the cash register to ask for help and when they found out what I wanted, didn't seem to want to help me. One girl told me to come back to pick up my items in 20 minutes so I shopped around, got my ears pierced and came back a good 30 minutes later only to find that she didn't even start making it! So I had to wait there another 20 minutes for her to make it. I'm not dropping another dime on them ever again. It's such a disappointment when a business can't even focus on what a good thing they had. Good luck to them in being yet another dime a dozen, mediocre day spa. read more

The only reason why this didn't get a 5 star review is because the first impression I got from the girl working behind the front desk was not that great. She gave off a bad vibe and seemed almost snobby, even when she was collecting my money after the visit. However, the reason why I enjoyed my visit was because Lillian did a great job with my facial. She was very sweet and friendly. She did an awesome job with the extraction and my skin has never felt better. She took her time getting the extraction part done, which I really appreciated because my skin was very congested. I plan on seeing her again in 3 months for another facial. PREGNANCY MASSAGE Honestly- the best investment I've made for myself during my pregnancy. I am 36 weeks pregnant and finally decided to book my FIRST ever pregnancy massage... I LOVED IT! And my only regret is not booking it sooner! I was a little nervous going in and booked the 60 minute massage just in case I didn't like it, but after it was done, I was wishing I did the full 90 minute massage! My massage therapist, Neil, was very pleasant and made sure I was comfortable the whole time. The Ambience- Quiet and comfy. The room was in the spa. The walls are thin so you can still hear the people at the front desk talking, but not enough to make you feel uncomfortable. Lights were dimmed, temperature cool, but not too cold and the usual spa music playing in the background. The Process- You undress to your level of comfort; which for this massage in particular means down to your underwear (no bra, so they can massage your entire back without getting caught up in your straps) or baring it all. Don't worry though- you will be covered by a sheet and blanket during your massage. Because it's a pregnancy massage, they lie you on your side, with a body pillow and massage half of your body at a time. It really helped relieve the pressure on my lower back, neck, shoulders and hip! They massage your head, neck, back, arms, shoulders, glutes, hands, legs and half of your feet (near the toes as to not induce labor?) They massage you using oil first and then wipe you down with a warm washcloth to remove the oils. Very relaxing! Once your time is up, (my massage was literally the full 60 minutes) the masseuse exits to let you get dressed and brings you a cup of water to get hydrated. Overall, my experience was excellent- 100% RECOMMENDED! Apparently you can start getting these pregnancy massages after your first trimester. And it's recommended to get a massage once or twice a month if you can afford it! I honestly wish I had taken the plunge and gone sooner, as my body was aching by the time I went in. But I feel so much better today than I did yesterday. I will definitely be back soon. Also, pro tip: their online booking is amazing. You can schedule your appointment and pay ahead of time. I just had a 30 min chair massage by Lili. I didn't realize I had that many knots until she started to work them out and I know 30 min isn't enough time but boy did she make it work. I actually went in for aches and pain in my mid/upper back, I couldn't tell if it's muscle or spine before or during the session. Upon entry, I had to navigate through 3 or 4 massage chairs with that were filled with customers and employees giving them massages (not a good lobby setup.) It felt very crowded and not welcoming. Came here the other week for a facial and 30 minute massage. I know it's supposed to be a relaxing experience but I was hoping the lady who did my facial spoke more. When it came to putting all these stuff on my face I would want to know what she's about to do & what products she's using. Quick summary: pretty good; I'd recommend. Pros: good prices, clean, friendly front area staff. Cons: the place is not luxe; you can clearly hear other customers exiting and entering the other rooms for their treatments. My therapist (forgot her name but it was something like Alona) had strong hands, and used exactly the amount of pressure I requested (firm, mostly deep tissue). RICHARD!!!! You're amazing. Before you sat me down you asked me if there's any areas that were bothering me. I said my neck and shoulders but mainly my shoulder area. You worked on those areas and did magic to them. I couldn't sleep at night because how tense I was. I came home and took a nap right away. You also educated some parts of my neck which I loved. I love the pressure you did as well especially how tight and tense I was. You stayed with the same pressure throughout the whole massage. I don't know how you did that while my shoulder felt like a wall. It eased my mind when you told me it was slowly releasing. You remind me of a Dr who knows how to make it feel so much better. You were hitting spots that I didn't know about that connected to the tension. 30mins came out to around $35 and I tipped you $40. You were so nice and told me that's too much. My friend and I decided to get a spa treatment at Body & Mind Spa: this was my first time and she was a veteran here lol. We got a Romance for Two Package which includes a European facial and 1 hour massage..... All I got to say is WOOOOOOOW I loved my services!!!!!!!!!!!! Our Masseuse was Erwin and Maggie. All I have to say is that they're very stong and can do really good deep tissue massages. I especially loved Maggie's tecnique it was like a mixture of Accupressure & Shiatsu. :D My friend said that for a tiny person Erwin has really strong pressure. For our facial's we had Lilian, she does this thai tecnique where they kneed/tap your face and neck which i fell in love for, it simply made me fall asleep it was so good :D She also does a little bit of massage for your arms, feet, and face. She use's this Enzime peel?? to exfoliate before she extracts white/black heads which i admit made me tear up but my face feel so clean :D I also was able to sqeeze in a Eyebrow wax since she had free time after, now I've been going to the one in Waipahu and was not happy with their waxing (I fucken came out with some chola's eyebrows)....never went back there again. But Lilian- Love it! totally natural and very thorough, will come again. RECOMMED THIS PLACE TO FRIENDS AND FAMILY!!! Pros: Staff is very friendly and they offer water. Products are kind of pricey ($40-$100) depending on which facial treatment you purchase, but so far my skin is really nice and I see improvement: I guess beauty doesn't come cheap lol!! Cons: Very BUSY!! - we had to schedule 2 days in advance, and when we arrived we had to stand up since there was no more seats available. Which is good for their buisiness but quite crowded. I made a massage appointment for my man a day or two in advance. I was asked if he prefered a male or female technician. He said it didnt matter so they gave him a male massuer. I wish I could tell you whether the massage was good or not. Unfortunately all my man could talk about was how horrifying it was to feel the stubble on the massuers arms that was poking and scratching him the entire hour massage...
