I love Bodyrok and have visited several of their locations, from Laguna Beach and Encinitas to Carlsbad. I usually feel great after a workout at their studios, but unfortunately, that wasn't my experience at this location. I was left a bit confused because most locations are led by experienced instructors. Maybe our instructor was new, and since it was my first time here, I'm open to giving it another shot with a different instructor. She wasn't great at leading the class. It was hard to hear her, and she sounded very muffled. For most of the class, no one seemed to know what her instructions were, and it was pretty apparent. Visiting San Diego and wanted to do a workout class. $40 for a drop in class, also available on ClassPass if you are more flexible with timing. Love the instructor! I taken over 70 classes in NorCal and Carla is a great instructor. Facility is in One Paseo, so parking is pretty easy and the plaza is nice. The studio itself is a bit outdated. Reformers are not pre assigned. Class schedule does not focus on what muscles groups will be targeted. My reformer didn't have foam on their handles so it kept scratching against my rings. The bathroom lock has been broken? The girl who walked in on me, mentioned it's not new... and that's why she proceeded so slowly. read more

I love it here, an amazing workout for sure! The ambiance is a lot more fun than most pilates studios I've been to, and I am happy to say this is the studio I have fully committed to membership wise! The only thing I can say is that Bodyrok can be a bit of a struggle for absolute newbies. There is no "beginner level" class, so someone who has never done pilates may feel very lost -- machines often aren't fully explained and instructions are quick. Even as someone who had done pilates in the past, I struggled in my first class. I do wish they had beginner level classes, but a newbie who's determined to push through the awkward stage of their classes will surely find themselves loving this studio! read more

This workout is NO JOKE. I used to do pilates, with reformer machines, some time ago. I even did the cardio pilates with the spring boards so I thought I was pretty decent. Bodyrok is a completely type of pilates work out. Forget what you've learned from the Joseph Pilates method. The reformer machines here at Bodyroc are beasts. It's straight up CARDIO pilates if that makes sense. You don't sit there yawning while stretching or lengthening on a machine. Instead, an instructor wears a headset and gives directions while pumping music is played in backgroup. Kinda like a spin class - and let me tell you - I sweated like it a dang spin class. It's a FAST PACED class. I cannot fathom how someone who's an absolute beginner or out of shape or older or not coordinated would make it through class. I wanted my out of shape sis to attend today with me but I'm glad she didn't as 1) the class would have scared her off and 2) she would have hurt herself on machine. I go to gym five times a week and personally felt Bodyrok's class was intensely hard. I had to stop a few times to wipe myself off with a towel and to compose myself. I was nervous a few times on the machine as a careless move could have probably hurt me. They do have a great intro promo - I think it's $129/mo which is a steal. Also offering 20% of package deals. A few things: - text the phone # listed if no one picks up call (they replied quickly to my text) - they're located by Parakeet Cafe (lower level) - head towards Tender Greens and take the stairs to the lower level and you'll see studio on right - currently, first class is free ! Otherwise it's only $15 - loved their complimentary towels (they're super soft) - they don't require you to wear socks or specific grippy socks (thank goodness) It is a unique experience regardless. Heather was a wonderful instructor. I brought a friend who was a first timer on the reformer and to Bodyrok and Heather was both patient and encouraging. The layout was much larger than the Flatiron location that I am accustomed to in NYC and much brighter too. Very clean and spacious. Only 1 bathroom. No locker--just cubby holes and shelves in the space where you workout so you feel secure with your property. The machines are very clean and new. You can tell because the bungee cord was very tense and more difficult than usual to stretch. Great location at this outdoor lux mall. Lots of free cover parking as well. read more

Management is lazy, irresponsible and incompetent!!!! A friend of mine is a monthly member who has a promotion that if they bring someone for the first time the class is $20. We asked TWO SEPARATE employees on how to proceed and was told to make an account and book a class. Turns out, I was charged the full price for one class. We both reached out regarding the charge SIX times with NO RESPONSE. Literally emailed, texted, called and was just left on read. Wasn't until persistent calling that management finally picked up the phone. She not only didn't want to refund the charge at first but blamed us for not booking the class properly? As if we haven't reached out multiple times to try to resolve the issue? We also asked the employees on how to book the class?? They act all friendly trying to get you to sign up but as soon as you run into issues they DISAPPEAR!!! SUCH A DISAPPOINTMENT read more

Five minutes into this class and I knew I was in for an experience. This class is no joke! I've done Pilates before but this is like Pilates in steroids. The moves are fast paced and challenging! My abs were sore for a week. But it was a great feeling to take this class and feel really accomplished by the end of it. The instructor, Caitlin, was really nice and friendly. Because it was my first time there, she was super attentive in helping me get set up and modeling the movements throughout the class. She kept the energy up during the class was super supportive yet challenging! This is definitely no lay down and relax kind of class. Expect to get your butt kicked but it's a super unique type of work out and I look forward to trying it again. read more

Bodyrok is located at OnePaseo in DelMar. Go around Blue Bottle and Tocaya (down the steps from Tocaya) to find the entrance. That is the trickiest part. Like the location I've been to before in San Francisco, the studio was neat and clean, really inviting. Sweat towels were available, along with little cubbies for bags and shoes. For a 5:50am class, it was pretty full, so make sure to sign up ahead of time to secure a reformer spot. The class structure was great. I liked that we started heavy with lower body on one side, focused the majority of class on core in the middle, and then went back to the exercises for the lower body towards the end of class on the other side. The core portion was a mix of sneaking in long plank holds and giving those shoulders a break with ab work on the back and carriage of the reformer. Well rounded workout and I am sore! read more

Maggie killed me....but in a good way!!! :) I think I'm in love with this brand new Pilates inspired studio near my house. She had us jumping, lunging, planking, squeezing until we were shaking! I'm not new to the fitness circuit but her class left me wanting more. There was only a couple of us in her 8am Monday morning class so it kind of felt like a private session. It's located at the new one paseo center so it makes it easy to grab a coffee at blue bottle after or lunch at tender greens! They have an awesome one month unlimited intro special that I think I'm going to take advantage of. Highly recommend anyone to come try a class! Ps. It's way harder than it looks! read more

Decided to give Pilates a try for the first time and this place did not disappoint. My instructor was Remy, she did a wonderful job getting everyone moving. I came to BodyRok with high hopes of a great workout and was sadly disappointed. There is no one to help you at the front desk when you arrive. The music is extremely loud - so loud you can barely hear the instructor speaking. The instructor was not very clear with instructions. I came here for my first ever pilates class and was left confused after every movement. The machines were not clean as well, I noticed lots of dust and debris left from other people on the machine. The other downside to Bodyrok is the price. There is no first time discount like at many other fitness studios. read more

manager/owner is horrible and she is the one that manages the books. I accidentally signed up for two classes back to back. I went there early , spoke with her and told her the situation. asked her to please cancel the second class so I don't get charged . I apologized for the error and explained that I meant to sign up for classes on two consecutive days. She didn't even look me up, just looked at me and said : ok, I will fix it and looked away. well, she never did and charged me a no show fee on top of that. I followed up with an email to her which was ignored. I let it go. today I show up late ( for the first time ever) and she had taken my spot and kicked me out of the studio. what kind of a manager / owner kicks ours their loyal customer when they are late just once AND takes their spot. there are so many fantastic studios and private instructors around us that would love to have my business and a loyal one at that . read more

Can we say DIFFICULT WORKOUT?? I visited Bodyrok for the first time a couple of weeks ago, and had no idea what to expect. Although an avid yogi, I had never even tried Pilates before. I went in for my first class (the 5:45 am one) and spotted rows of a torture device - I mean, the Reformer, I think it's called, and was instantly terrified. I'd recently had a baby, and although I worked out until a few weeks before delivering, I know my core isn't nearly as strong as it should be. When the instructor told us we would be planking on that device, I almost cried. I'm no quitter though, and I parked myself next to a super fit young woman who was about ten years my junior. If anyone would know what they were doing, it would have to be her. I'm not the most talkative person when it comes to strangers, but I told her she would be my workout buddy, and she quickly obliged. Believe it or not, the class goes by super fast. Typically, I don't get sore after workouts until the next day. In this case, I was hurting by 3pm - a good hurt though. Because I'm clearly some sort of sadist, I went BACK the following week, just to see if it hurt as much as I thought it did. Spoiler: it did. read more

Holy core!! First off, Megan is the s***. I've been coming to BodyRok for years, but that girl was the instructor for my very first class and I've always loved her workouts. I'm literally always sore for 3 days. That may intimidate you, but trust me it is worth it. Stephanie the owner is a DOLL--love her. She is so kind and ensures all clients have the best experience. Every instructor Roks (No pun intended lol). They are all very welcoming/open, so you will feel comfortable telling them what you liked or didn't like in class to get the best experience! Nope. Not going back. We were a group of 5 and we just finished lunch next door. We wanted to check BodyRok out as ALL of us belong to a gym nearby and do a functional fit/circuit training class. The blonde at the front desk had her keys in her hand and said, "sorry we are closed for the afternoon. You will have to come back" For a new business in this area (and much competition) this was a negative way to try to get new business thru the door. We will not go back to check it out. I really liked this studio for many reasons. It's very new and they had plenty of staff. I emailed the owner asking questions via Instagram and they responded immediately and ensured I had the opp to try the class. I went and it was very tough and the machines were in great shape. The teachers knew there moves and had a structured class that worked my butt off. I love this concept and believe it is the best compliment to cardio. read more

If it weren't for the owner, this place would be 5 stars. The instructors are all great, but the owner, Stephanie, is greedy and will steal your money. Over the time my daughter spent at this studio, there were several instances where she attended class, but the instructor forgot to mark her as attending and she was subsequently charged $20 as a no show on each occasion. She emailed Stephanie several times letting her know she was in fact in class and that she could verify with the instructor personally, but Stephanie refused to respond and collected nearly $200 based on these instances alone. For anyone who is currently signed up or thinking of signing up, i would tread lightly with providing your credit card information. I went to my first Bodyrok class taught by Michelle Cote on a Sunday morning (yes I thought to myself, what was I thinking!). It was certainly a great challenge that I still felt the results days after! She kept the class energized and guided each transition with attention to how each of us were doing. She made great corrections with my form that helped me feel the move more effectively. I can definitely say her class convinced me to return and sign up for 10 more classes!
