Where do I begin. I started my shopping for my wedding dress at a consignment shop that was highly…read morerecommended to myself and other brides on a Facebook group that I am part of. Because my then fiance and I were on a strict budget for our wedding, I figured I could find something "good enough" at a second hand store, or a consignment shop and stay well below my budget. Well that was a disaster! That shop made me feel underappreciated and less than beautiful! Two things that I thought a bride was supposed to experience with dress shopping. I left that shop and knew I had another appointment to go to at The Wedding Dress in Portland. I went to lunch with my neice, had a cocktail in hopes that it would ease my mind - it didn't. I felt disgusting. We arrived at The Wedding Dress and sat in the parking lot for an hour before the appointment. I almost drove away a few times just because I was so disheartened. Boy am I glad I didn't!!! I walked into the shop at my appointment time and the first few thing I remember were the smell, it was so clean and fresh and relaxing (not moth balls and misty!), the brightness of the dresses (and there was A LOT of dresses), and the sound of three voices greeting me with excitement and happiness! Those three voices turned out to be Shelley, Abbie and Lisa. I almost wanted to cry. I explained to the three ladies how my past experience was and they told me "That is not how it is supposed to be! We got this! You pick out some dresses you want to try on and we'll take it from there!" They made me feel appreciated. They made me feel beautiful. They made me feel so important. It was an amazing experience! The dress I chose was a Justin Alexander dress, which was ironic because the original dress I wanted was his design as well but totally different (lace actually). The dress was strapless and I needed straps to be designed and put on and the seamstress that works with The Wedding Dress, Dora, was AMAZING! After ordering the dress and when the dress came in, my experience just blossomed more with the ladies! I really can't sing their praises enough! I am not a skinny size 4 kind of bride. So I was discouraged to start with but not once when I tried on dresses did I ever feel that I was overweight or not beautiful! Abbie, Shelley and Lisa know how to make you feel absolutely stunning and help you every step of the way! I couldn't be happier with my experience and will stop in to visit the ladies from time to time! Highly recommend this little shop in Portland that makes you feel like a million bucks from the moment you step in it till the moment you leave with your gown! Ask her if she was going to lose weight in time for thewedding,? Started squeezing her neck and back and talking about how big she is. Now I don't think anyone should be treated this way if they are plus size however she is not plus size. She has a petite average body type. This ruined the whole bridal experience for her. They would not let us in the store, saying that there was already a bride looking in the back. They did not want us wandering around looking at dresses was what we were told. . We could not do anything and we were told to leave. This really sabotage her excitement for wedding dress shopping. You should not be in any customer service position never mind bridal dress attendant/owner to make brides to refill this way. Shame on you.

I was looking for very specific styles and was pleasantly surprised they had a decent selection for me to try on. Also learned they have a great deal for brides, on your first visit you, if you say yes to the dress, you get $100 off, a free garment bag, a free garter 20% off any bridal accessories and $50 off alterations ! The women who work here are Polish so I know they are handy with the needle come time for alterations please they were helpful in being real with me what looks good on my body. It was so many people pushing around, nobody paying attention to you ,trying to find a mirror . That was not how I imagined. I wasn't sure I was going to find a dress however I made an appointment at bridal bells for the following weekend. It is a small boutique with one person shopping at a time and all the attention is on you. We discussed what I was looking for and she provided all the options she had in the store. In the dressing room I got to stand on a small stage with all the mirrors on me. She was helpful and answer all my questions as well as made me feel beautiful and special. I would recommend going to bridal bells to shop for your wedding dress e specially if you are plus size . She had a lot of options . Thank you !

My consultant truly listened to everything I liked and didn't like, and she DELIVERED. She had me trying on more dresses than I could have imagined, and each one felt more aligned with my vision than the last. I never felt rushed... we actually found the one with about 30 minutes still left in my appointment. I also really appreciated how mindful they were of my budget. Not only did they stay within it, but they were intentional about keeping me under budget to allow room for alterations which was incredibly thoughtful. One thing I really appreciated was how respectful and kind my consultant was during try ons. She would turn around while I was changing until I felt comfortable or needed assistance. The owner also came in to take my measurements, which made me feel even more comfortable and taken care of. You can really tell how much they value their brides. They even offered complimentary water, which was such a thoughtful touch for my group. Overall, the entire experience felt calm, supportive, and genuinely special. This is such a peaceful environment to find your dress. I felt heard and beautiful throughout. I would HIGHLY recommend this salon to any bride looking for a truly exceptional experience!

When I picked up my dress, the issue was brought up again despite it being confirmed as the store's mistake, and the handling of it felt dismissive and I paid the $10 There were also communication issues. No one notified me when my dress arrived, and I only found out after calling the store myself. Overall, while I love my dress, the lack of communication and customer service throughout the rest of the process was disappointing, especially for such an important purchase. When the appointment started my consultant asked the usual questions, but it went downhill fast. After explaining what I did/didn't like, she pulled several dresses to start and we narrowed down what the next round of dresses should/shouldn't have. She then continually pulled styles that were very similar to the ones I said I didn't like. When we asked if there were other options in the store that matched what I was looking for, I was told there was "nothing else," which felt dismissive. At that point when my consultant said there was nothing else in the store, I'd tried on 5 dresses. For a store that promotes itself as size-inclusive, I was really uncomfortable with how I was treated. I was repeatedly squeezed into dresses that didn't fit properly, to the point where I could barely breathe in some due to improper clipping/zipping. At one point, the clips in the back popped open and the metal snapped against my back, which was both painful and embarrassing. There was one dress I liked but didn't love, and instead of continuing to explore other options the consultant kept pushing me to purchase it. She focused on how it could be customized, even though the things I didn't like weren't minor fixed... they were fundamental elements of the dress. Throughout the appointment, she kept checking her phone and commenting on the time, which made the experience feel rushed and uncomfortable. To top it off, I had clearly stated my budget, yet she pulled a dress that was nearly $1,000 over. Her response was a casual "haha whoops," which felt unprofessional and dismissive. The day of my wedding dress appointment, I was told the $3000 dress I was purchasing was 100% silk,…read morewhich was an important factor in choosing my gown. SEVEN MONTHS LATER (the dress came in a month late) I picked it up, paid the balance, and brought it to my seamstress. (Lastrina does not do alterations, nor are they included in the price). When I tried the dress on again that same day I picked it up, I realized the fabric label said "100% polyester". I contacted the owner of the bridal salon immediately, and she said there was nothing she could do. The owner told me that her salesperson NEVER would have told me it was silk. I told the owner that polyester makes me itchy and she responded saying that "the majority of your wardrobe consists of polyester." She also said that because the dress is a high quality polyester I "don't have anything to worry about." (I'd like to make it known that I do not know this woman and she does not know me.)
