I did business when them win Scott Cox was a go to guy. Unfortunately, for me, he retired. Bohrens is no longer the fantastic moving company I used to use. Now it's run by some woman who has a personality of a snapping turtle who sent a group of men out who didn't like what was being moved before he even took a look at it, and then made some rude gesture as he left and stood there astonished. We were in need of a moving company with a week's notice and our real estate agent recommended Bohren's. Every other company we spoke to said they couldn't do the move in the time frame we had, but Bohren's told us it wouldn't be an issue. And they came through and pulled it off! I was amazed, actually. The entire job it went off without a hitch. They arrived on day 1 ready to work and they knocked out so much packing, carting and lifting I seriously couldn't believe it. On the other end of the move, the team worked swiftly and thoughtfully and was every bit as solid as the first team was. No complaints whatsoever. Another thing I liked about Bohren's was that the VP was available to speak anytime we had questions about the logistics or cost. The entire staff exuded professionalism and respect and it showed in their work. Couldn't have asked for a better experience. The two gentlemen who moved me were very nice, efficient and fast. I tipped them as much as I could to show them my appreciation and even purchased donuts for them. I have a through the wall AC that was not included in the original estimate because quite frankly I forgot about it. But I'm sure this happens a lot which is why it's an ESTIMATE and not a final bill. I pointed out the AC to the crew as needing to be moved. They didn't bat an eye and just removed it from the wall sleeve and loaded it on the truck with the rest of my items. Fast forward a few hours later, we're all exhausted and they announce they are finished. Later I go to my room and see they left this 75 pound AC on my bedroom floor. tThey had not bothered to return it the wall sleeve in my new apartment. I called Lisa Ireland who first said it was maintenance responsibility to return it to the wall sleeve (absolutely untrue as it is MINE). When I pointed this out to her she then said how it wasn't included in the original list of items to be moved (so? the original list was an ESTIMATE. Your guys moved it, they should have put it back!). I should have noticed BEFORE they left but had been up since 3am as I had every morning for two weeks since learning of this emergency move by my landlord. I WAS EXHAUSTED! I am disabled and this monstrosity of an AC still sits on my bedroom floor. Oh and they placed it in front of my closet just for an additional inconvenience. Lisa's response to this issue was was poor, lack problem solving skill, empathy and to me exemplified poor customer service. Oh, and all these mysterious "carton" fees for cartons that were never used?? That's a whole 'nother issue. 4 stars to the crew a star taken off for not putting my AC back. 1 star to Lisa Ireland for her poor response and lack of the excellent customer service Brohrens seems to pride itself in. read more

TERRIBLE! This company knowingly and willingly took advantage of my 80 year old mother - who's been a client of Bohren's since the 1970s. THIS PLACE IS TRASH - DO NOT USE THIS BUSINESS. They recently moved my mother from her home in NJ to an assisted living facility in Maine. In the process they lost over 15 of her prized items (collectible china, antiques, treasured personal items), broke 5 pieces of her furniture, and didn't unpack her items upon arrival, as she had paid them to do. Leaving an 80 year old women in assisted living on her own to unpack furniture that she's clearly not capable of doing. During the claims process they then knowingly took advantage of her - and wouldn't reimburse her for any of the lost items. Bohren's claims to be a local family business - but they outsource every part of the business besides sales, so they don't have to take responsibility of any aspect of their terrible service. The movers they outsourced this work too were incompetent, broke many pieces of furniture, and didn't finish the job. They then also outsource the claims process to another company so that they can avoid responsibility. THIS IS A TRASH BUSINESS MODEL, and not the way that good, solid, family-businesses were built in this country. DO NOT give these people your business. They knowingly and willingly take advantage of the elderly, and have zero sense of ethics or responsibility. read more

I had to move twice within a two month period, and Bohrens made this process way smoother and way less stressful than it could have been! Initially I was going to need them to store my things for a month while waiting on closing... but then changed the plan just a few days prior to the move and they were amenable and made it happen. We set up an estimate with Michael Kelly. He was a great sales person and gave us quite a bit of information. We requested that our move be August 9, 2022 with August 10 as a back up date. He chose August 9 and gave us an estimate. It was higher than others but we liked him so we accepted the August 10 date. Later we called Carol Huff in the main office to have that estimate put into writing. They thought they sent it but made a mistake and then sent it to us. 5 days before the move they called us to explain that they had to check with their operations department to confirm the time. This was Friday afternoon. On Monday we received an email confirmation with all of our correct information but without a time. Each time I tried to reach them, I was told several different stories: They said they tried to call several times but there was something wrong with their phone lines. Then there was something wrong with their computer system. They were unable to reach their operations team. The operations team had an emergency and was too busy. I had flexibility with my time for the move out time on August 10 and since the date was confirmed, I was not worried. The morning before the move, I received an email saying their operations team determined that they were not available for our date and we had to scramble and find other movers. read more

Worst movers I've ever used. I used them for a local move. They broke and/or scratched many pieces of furniture. Their disregard for my furniture was heartbreaking. The shattered an antique table, a dining room chair, scratched all of my brand-new outdoor furniture and did not cover any of the damage. Avoid this company. The movers got themselves stuck in a traffic jam for hours and forced me to pay $350 beyond the estimate because of the time they spent in traffic. The way they insisted on getting the extra money was also very pushy. I felt uncomfortable talking to the account manager and just wanted to end the conversation. We had to ship a container size of small items shipped from California to Bohren's storage facility by an affiliated partner in CA they recommended. After several months we finally closed on a new house and thus needed to move about 40 miles. On Monday and Tuesday a crew arrived to pack everything. Wednesday a truck arrived with a new crew to consolidate the items shipped from CA with everything they packed. Thursday the crew unpacked a full truck at our new home. Everyone of the crew was friendly, courteous, big and strong, conciencious, paid attention to details, listened to instructions, and even laughed at my Irish jokes!! The office staff at both the CA location and the Bohren's local staff called each day to see how the progress was shaping up. There was zero damage to either the CA shipment or to our packed belongings. Bohren's made the entire shipping and moving experience a pleasant one despite the uprooting experience our family incurred. They received the Platinum Service Award from our family. You will not be disappointed if when you need to move and choose Bohren's to fulfill ever aspect of your move with grace, professionalism, and good cheer!! read more

I have had Bohren's move me twice now. The first time, I was working exclusively with the Robbinsville office. They were great - fast, responsible, efficient. No complaints, even hefting my tons of stuff up to my 3rd-floor walk-up! The second time, I had them both pack and move me. I needed an extremely last-minute move, so to accommodate my schedule needs, I had the Robbinsville office pack for me and the Parsippany office move me. Both crews were fantastic. Can't say enough good things about them. I was incredibly stressed and frazzled due to complicated lease negotiations, but everyone with Bohren's was patient, professional, and efficient. I'm sharing this on the Yelp for both Parsippany and Robbinsville, since I worked through both offices and had great service from both of them. If I could give a zero I would. My moving experience was a total disaster. Movers arrived 3 hours after scheduled time. After 3 hours they told the truck was to small to hold all of my furniture and would have to unload in warehouse and return the following day. Since my closing and seller walk through was scheduled for the following day I was a little hesitant but agreed. The following day they arrived late again but did remove all furniture before walk through. The delivery of my furniture to new house again a nightmare. Arrived 1 hour late and did not have all of furniture including beds. New crew delivered remaining furniture the following day with damaged pieces. After claim process I was given a check for $200 which is far below value of damages.. Other movers prices higher but I'm sure more professional. read more

This is our second move with Bohren's and we have no complaints. With this most recent move we had gotten another quote from another local mover but were not at all happy with how we were treated by the rep. When the rep from Bohoren's came out they were professional and courteous. Ours was a double move while we were waiting for our new house to be built. They carefully wrapped and tagged all our furniture. When we were ready for our stuff to come out of storage it was easy to set up a delivery date and the guys were great -- and even helped us move a heavy item that was already at the house. We had only two small chips in a dining room table -- everything else was in great shape. We've had two really good experiences with Bohren's in Robbinsville and would recommend them. read more

We first used Bohren's when my mother moved out of her shore house in September of 2015. That went into Bohren's storage. The team was truly first rate. Great bunch of hard working guys took great care of everything and was happy to help in any way. I liked them so much that when it came time for my wife and I to move in November of 2015, we called Bohren's again. A different crew of guys but all great. They took great care of the furniture to and from the truck. Happy to move things around once they were in the new house, etc. I can't say enough nice things about them. And then just the other day, Bohren's moved my mother's furniture out of Bohren's storage to a local storage place near her house. And much to our surprise, 3 of the guys from the original job in Sept 2015 were the crew! We still remembered them, that's how good they were! In all of these cases, Bohren's has been fantastic. This summer I had to coordinate five separate moves at the same time for family members, and Lisa Ireland and Barbara Niseley were outstanding, knowledgeable and friendly professionals to work with. From the first contact, to the last (follow up on how the moves went) it was smooth sailing; the coordination was excellent; these wonderful women got back to me immediately when I needed questions answered; the moving men, to the person, (I dealt with 11 different guys) were incredible; and I fell in love with each of them. We have used Bohrens in 2006, 1997, 1994, and 1988, and they've done the corporate moves for my company several times. They are outstanding and I highly recommend them. The guys are clean, professional, hard working and intelligent. No grungy day laborers here - they have always been very experienced crews who know how to handle delicate pieces, heavy pieces, and how to stack properly. The trucks are clean and they use plenty of pads to protect from scratches and keep your carpets clean. My husband put himself through college working summers for another company as a packer and mover, so he knows what to look for, and thinks that Bohrens is excellent.. Because of his experience, we haven't needed their packing service. We buy used boxes from them which are a great deal, much better than boxes from H Depot. Perhaps part of the reason we never had any damage was that we also don't use grocery store boxes or copy paper boxes. Those aren't as strong and don't stack as well. I have to warn you all Please for your sake do not use these people. I had furniture deliberately damaged, things taken apart needlessly and not re-assembled at all. Tables delivered without legs. I had boxes "missing" that were not delivered. Some were on the inventory sheet and some were not. They were just taken out of my house. There is a reason that you have to sign a form stating that you MUST use their arbitration if there is a dispute. The moving company pays the arbitration forum and the arbitration forum passes things of your case to a neutral arbitrator. You are not copied on what is actually sent on your behalf. You cannot contact the neutral arbitrator. Think about WHY????? Just save yourself the heartache and aggravation. Use PODs or rent a truck! You can hire people to load and unload you. YOU lock the truck, so that everything that is loaded on the truck, will come off the truck. And make sure you have at least 2 or 3 people with you to watch them like hawks! They send 4 to 5 to guys to 'empty out your residence.' So beware!!!!!! read more

I have an issue regarding a claim under the mover's coverage I purchased. While my contention may not be correct I reached out to Louise Froehlich to discuss this, first in writing then after no reply by telephone, leaving a voicemail on her extension. She has not had the decency to respond. Shame on her for treating a customer so shabbily. Otherwise had several issues including paying for crating that was not done (to be fair after discussion they refunded the cost) though the real issue is that a valuable painting could have been damaged. Paid for an unpacking service, the un-packers left without finishing the job, it took a lot longer than it should have to get them back to complete the job. Our crystal was to be bubble wrapped tissue paper was used resulting in damage to 8 glasses, same with porcelain figurines, one of which cannot be replaced. Had no intention of going public with my concerns until Ms Froehlich did not extend the courtesy of replying to me. read more

I had the worst moving experience of my life. Having hired moving companies many other times I can tell that what I had experienced with them, I can assure that I will never use them again even if it was free of charge. I was scammed big time when in June of 2014, the drive simply refused to drive down the town road that enters my property saying that his truck "would not fit". I mean two months prior I had the same size truck and a a 16ft PACK-Rat storage drove down the same road with no problem. Then they took my stuff into their storage unit and I had to pay over $500 a month for 12 months plus all the add'l charges for delivering and unpacking then packing again until I finally had my place ready 1 year later. TOATL SCAMMERS. During delivery movers broke a chair and I had a lot of items in some of the boxes broken. They are a true nightmare. read more

Be careful when choosing this moving company and also be prepared to sign a waiver if they scrape your walls going up and down the stairs. The company will hold your furniture "hostage" until you sign a waiver claiming they are not responsible for the damage. The excuse that will be used is that the stairs are "risky". Of course, they are too lazy to hang anything on the walls to prevent scraping. Company accused me of trying to "extort" money from them, after requesting $85 to paint numerous walls and to purchase supplies. Also, the ramshackle moving truck that was sent was broken down, during the move had to stop at a gas station, after the move, had to drive movers to get oil for the broken down truck, was not reimbursed. read more

Very sketchy company. I had arranged for them to come give me an estimate on moving a 1 bedroom apartment and 2 storage units next to each other from Langhorne PA to Stroudsburg PA. I never once said NJ. I took time off work to meet with them, they inventoried my apartment, followed me to my storage units and inventoried them. He said I would get the estimate that day. About 1/2 hour later I received an email that they cannot do it because they cannot do intra state moves. They knew all along that the move was entirely in PA. I believe they were just checking to see if they could do the job with minimal risk of getting caught doing work in PA, when they saw that they were not, back pedaled and said they cannot do it. I want to give 5 stars to Andy who came out and gave us a spot on estimate and for the 2 gentlemen who packed up our house in NJ. The 1 Star is for the shady characters who the driver employed who delivered all our things. It was hot the day they delivered and we tried to accommodate them with bottles of water. When my husband went to his wallet to give them a tip $100 was missing. I cannot for sure say they took it but I certainly know neither one of us did. After they left we found all these screws and parts in the drawers and desks. We have no Idea how to put the furniture back together so we trusted they did. From all outward appearances it looked like our furniture was safe and sound. My sons bunk bed was the worst, his ladder isn't attached properly and we have no clue how to fix it. Needless to say if you're moving to the west coast beware of the crew that unloads your home in the Bay Area. It's a family run business and I didn't want to believe that these "nice" personable guys were shady like this. The long haul drivers name is Nick. We did NOT file a claim against them because we couldn't prove it. JUST beware if you're moving east to west and to the Bay Area keep your wallet on you. read more

I am very disappointed with this moving company. They came out and quoted. Gave us an estimate then an order, upon completion we signed the order and PAID what was on the order form. A few days later we received an invoice for $512 more! Stating that it was an oversight and then demanded that it be paid ASAP; not only that but they whited out the contract that was signed by both parties to change the amount. Shady business. We eventually settled at 50% but I hope they realize they lost a good customer that was in position to make MANY referrals, not to mention the company that gave me their info is very disappointed. read more

I had a nightmare home to move and had no way to know how to do it... I contacted 6 other companies along with Bohrens, and Bohrens was the ONLY moving company that not only responded, but immediately responded. Andy came over to the house right away and walked through the home and gave us a quote right on the spot. He was professional and very courteous. We received our contract clearly mapped out and everything was exactly as we discussed with Andy. Maria followed up with us any time we had a question in a speedy and respectful manner - always there to clear up any confusion we might have had (believe me I ask a million questions before I sign on the dotted line - Maria never waivered or got impatient). Day before Move: Received a call confirming that the gentlemen were coming the next day with two trucks and five guys - yaaay! Day of Move: As promised they came right on time and with the exact amount of men and two trucks. Right away I can see they were all business - they walked through the house to assess what they needed to do and immediately told me they were here to make my life easier and I was not to lift a finger - It was like magic (reminded me of the Got Junk commercials where you just point and it's gone)! They moved all of my items quickly out of a three-story house and a ton of junk! They showed such respect and made me feel like a queen! They moved all of my heavy and fragile items without a hitch and nothing was missing or broken - they inspected my furniture to see if anything was broken or loose and if there were (I have a lot of antiques), they brought it to my attention before even touching the item. Even Items they said they couldn't move - like an open box of pictures - they found a way to do that for me. I couldn't have asked for a better experience. The camaraderie these men had among themselves was incredible! They seemed to be old buddies and had such a positive and light attitude the entire time - I enjoyed just being around them. I would recommend this moving company any time and swear that this was the best experience I've had hiring anyone to do any work for me. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! i never write reviews for things i purchase/use online but it seemed necessary this time, as the company did such a terrible job. In a nutshell, I shipped items from New Jersey overseas to London, England. A quick summary of what happened: -- they destroyed literally EVERY item. Almost every item was fragile. They were broken upon arrival. These items were antique furniture, valuable and irreplaceable items. --They broke a glass table (the glass was smashed) -- they delivered an antique irreplaceable wooden table with the side of the table cracked off, three of the drawers smashed, holes in various parts of the wood -- a leather chair was scratched everywhere, with marks and dents -- they cracked and smashed a whole set of valuable china plates -- they clearly packed with NO care. i have never seen anything like it. the moving team who unpacked the the items in London said "these guys are clearly amateurs" -- they used no packing paper, they didn't seal the boxes correctly etc -- they delivered items that DID not belong to me -- like someone's sleeping bag! this showed up in my crate. i feel bad for whoever's sleeping bag they lost -- the shipment was late bc the crate was damaged and they had to send it back to the warehouse -- they didn't even tell me when this occurred, i had to ask -- they took a ton of my money for insurance of the valuable items, and then the insurance company paid out a fraction of the value that bohren's had insured me for. - they were generally nasty and not helpful. - my main contact, gary seitz, said when i asked him for references of other ciients who used bohrens " we don't give out references. we have been going for 100 years and are the best in town". Absolutely not true given the service i got! I wish i had read more online reviews before using them as there are a lot of terrible reviews.
