Yes the food is delicious. Yea the restaurant is small and intimate. Yes it is almost impossible to get a reservation! And yes the service is super kind and welcoming. All these things are true about Boia De. They craft their menu carefully and make sure to give you a fine dining experience. I highly recommend the polenta. All of this can be true but the one thing I could not get over was the price point behind each dish at this Michelin star restaurant. Some part of it is because they have to charge that price. Anything else would be unexpected from fine dining in Miami. But for me the portion sizes just didn't math well for the price point. Don't get me wrong the food is very good. The tiramisu is an experience I will never forget. But I would have loved to see Boia De be a restaurant for the people of Miami and not just the tourists who are looking to see one side of Miami.
I started hearing about the Boia De from my husband, the one responsible for all our reservations, lol, way in advance of our trip to Miami, because it's incredibly hard to get reservations. He tried making reservation there many times in the past, but it's next to impossible to make one. Exactly 30 days in advance, at 12pm sharp, he came to the site and successfully made one , yay. When we made it to the restaurant , the food did not disappoint. The Brussels sprouts were simply delicious, the potatoes skin with black caviar was incredible, all the pastas were amazing, we got 3 of them (for family of 4 ppl). Beef tartare was sooo good. And the lamb ribs were just to die for. The restaurant is fairly small, contributing to the difficulty in making the reservations, but very cozy
This restaurant came highly recommended from some friends, and we decided to meet them there towards the later part of our evening. The resturant is very small, making seating limited, and therefore we were sat at an outside table right next to a fan. Not a ceiling fan. Although this isn't exactly the restaurant's fault, being right by the fan and surrounded by flies while sitting on the sidewalk of a strip mall wasn't exactly a luxurious experience as you might expect. The waitress was lovely and very knowledgeable about the menu and the wines. There was a heavy focus on the wine aspect with some pretty surprising high prices per glass, but I guess that's what you get in Miami these days. The restaurant is described as an Italian style place. That being said, the menu is anything but typical Italian. Minimal description of what you will be eating mixed in with a twist on standard Italian cuisine. That's all fine, but having at least one or two standard Italian dishes would be appreciated. Also, it's family style eating meaning the dishes are meant to be shared. This was surprising as they are not large portions. Price wise, it was very much on the expensive side. Considering the serving sizes for the prices you pay I'm not exactly sure it's worth the cost. As per instructions from our waitress, 2 to 3 dishes should be ordered per person. That comes out to about $75-$100 per individual while still leaving hungry. Our friends did rave about the mixed drinks and espresso. We had sodas because we had a long drive ahead, and those sodas were bottled cokes and 7-Up. Again, rather expensive to pay per drink, but also not the end of the world. Overall the restaurant almost comes across a little pretentious for the type of food and price charged given the experience and location of the restaurant. The food was good, but nothing to rave about. The options were very limited and came with very small portions. I am personally unlikely to visit again, but I'm sure there are people out there who enjoy this type of dining and for them it may be a worthwhile experience.
My friend and I stumbled into this place on a Saturday night not knowing what we were getting into. I thought for sure the food would be overhyped but it did not disappoint. I still think about how amazing the eggplant on top of the polenta or the squid ink pasta were. The staff was also so wonderful to us and helped us with our picks which did not disappoint. Definitely a bit pricey and there are some dishes I would probably skip like the artichokes but when the food was good, it was really really good.
I really wanted to like this place, but sometimes it just isn't what you expect. There were some things I did like though. The crispy polenta was really good and I loved the tartness the eggplant gives. The crispy tiramisú was AMAZING as well. I love how they kept the classic taste of the tiramisu but elevated it with the crispy ladyfingers. About the things I did not enjoy so much... the pappardelle alla lepre was mid and the lamb ribs were over seasoned and dry for my liking. The beef tartare was good but I've had better. Honestly I think I was disappointed because I had very high expectations of this Michelin star restaurant and my experience did not reach that bar. As a side note, I ordered an Aperol Spritz-style cocktail, and there was a piece of the bottle's paper label in my drink by mistake. We pointed it out to the bartender, and he simply took the drink and made a new one without saying much. I'm not asking for a free drink, but when I have had similar experiences at other places, they usually would let me keep the "faulty" drink and just make a new one without throwing mine away (which I didn't ask to).
It was my bestie's bday and I wanted her to have a super delicious meal, something out of the ordinary and special...and we did! Every dish we tried was absolutely scrumptious, full of interesting flavors and unique. We didn't have reservations but I thought we'd chance it and get lucky and sure enough we scored a spot at the bar which was just perfect. Pictures to follow - highly recommend!
I was able to get a reservation off a resy alert. While I'm glad we tried it, I don't think I'll be coming back unless other people really want to go and they get a table. The good - service was excellent, wine list was good (no full bar), and there are decent gluten free options for my husband including gluten free pasta. Why I docked a star was for the food - although good, it didn't wow me and in fact the rabbit ragu had several pieces of bone in it which was very off putting (I forgot to take a photo of the pastas). The space (in a strip mall) is very small which explains why it's difficult to get a table - we sat at the counter which we liked because you get to watch things being prepared. Compared to other Michelin star restaurants this wasn't up to their levels for me.
A genuine and creative Italian restaurant located at an unassuming strip mall, husband and wife chef(s) run. Great music, cute space, and service was impeccable - smooth, subtle, and the staff paid attention to detail. Every dish we had was so delicious!! My favorite is the chestnut pasta with shaved chestnuts, shallots, and Maitake mushroom. We will be coming back.
One of my favorite restaurants! It is on the smaller side but feels very intimate and the servers go above and beyond ! They take time explaining dishes and give very specific recommendations. This was my second time coming here almost a year apart and I can say the quality is the exact same. The TAGLIOLINI NERO was just as good as the first time and if you love cold pastas I recommend trying it. The only dish I wouldn't get again is the crudo because I'm not the biggest fan of tomato's.
My experience at Boia De incredible. From the outside, the restaurant is very unassuming, but once you step inside, you realize you are in for something special. The service was outstanding from start to finish, attentive, knowledgeable, and genuinely welcoming. Every dish we ordered was exceptional. The beef tartare was beautifully prepared and incredibly fresh. The chestnut agnolotti was the highlight of the night for me. It was rich, comforting, and perfectly balanced, easily my favorite dish of the evening. The gnocchi à la Parisienne (Morina) was full of flavor and executed perfectly. The tortellini in brodo resembled more of a dumpling but it was also decent. The lamb ribs Fra Diavolo were unbelievably tender with just the right amount of spice and depth. And then came dessert. The crispy tiramisu is an absolute must. The texture was unique, and the small touch of sea salt on top elevated the flavors in a way that made the whole dessert unforgettable.
Service was amazing, we sat outside, not even mad about it. Cause the weather was great and the music they had playing was awesome. Great playlist ! Vibez were good and food was very memorable. Each bite was abundant in flavor and really touch on each note it needed. The aroma of the food was awesome you could smell it before tasting it which made the experience even more stunning. Definitely a Michelin star spot ! Will be back without a doubt. Need to try a another few more pastas lol
Hip and intimate wine bar serving up well executed dishes. Boia De is famously located in an unassuming strip mall but is a diamond in the rough. It can be identified by a glowing outline in the shape of an exclamation mark "!" The restaurant is small and the tables are a bit close together. I also wished they had more powerful air conditioning. Our server was knowledgeable about the menu and accurate in his recommendations. Wine and beer are available as are "cocktails" made with champagne or sake but there is no liquor. I wish there was more selection for wine by the glass given the bottle list was actually quite extensive and expensive. The food was delicious enough to ignore the few gripes above. Our server recommended 4-6 dishes in total for 2 people. I agree if you are very hungry go for 6 but 4 may certainly do the trick. The beef tartare was so good with tons of texture and flavor in the toppings. We got a half portion of the Pate but I wished we did not downsize once I tasted it. The Lamb Ribs Fra Diavlo were incredibly tender even if the sauce would not have been my first choice. My favorite dish by far was the Mushroom Agnolotti which featured premium ingredients like Morels and superior quality Parmesan as well as a perfectly al dente and appreciably handmade pasta. We ended the meal with the Crispy Tiramisu which had a delightful balance of salty/sweet and airy/rich. Overall, Boia De is a refreshingly low key locale for well executed shareable plates. The menu changes every 2-3 months so I will definitely be back and will be ordering a pasta dish for sure.
This place was delicious and definitely left a great impression. Since we walked in we were greeted by the host and seated at the counter. We were able to see the chef hard at work. The restaurant was full yet it was that loud. You could still hold a conversation. My favorite had to the foie gras pate with strawberry jam. So tasty! The hamachi crudo was so refreshing and delicious. The pistachio and fresh yuzu flavors were just perfect. My favorite pasta was gnocchi with black truffle. It's a must! read more
We had such a great dinner experience at Boia De. Had a Saturday night reservation and arrived a few minutes early and waited for our table to be ready. The service was excellent, from the person that sat us down to our waitress, who explained the dishes well, didn't rush us to order or to leave at any moment, and was attentive to our needs throughout the entire dinner. For food, we ordered their crudo, beef tartare, crispy polenta, squid ink garganelli, corn tortellini, and for dessert we ordered the olive oil cake and the tiramisu. I do admit I've had better beef tartare and olive oil cake at other spots in South Florida, but the rest of the dishes were absolutely outstanding. We loved the pastas and the tiramisu was one of the best ones we've had. Both the menu and restaurant are small but curated. The food does take a while to come out but we loved that because it allowed us to sit back and enjoy our night and in pleasant conversation. Definitely wont be my last meal at Boia De! read more
Having previously come for the autumn menu, this was my first experience with Boia De's spring menu. We came to Boia De for a friend's last meal in Miami as it was her favorite, and was lucky enough to be seated as walk ins! The service was always friendly and guidance through the menu was extremely insightful. Our favorites were th Tagliolini Verdi, Squid Ink Garganelli, and the Grilled Mushrooms - their house-made sauce is truly to die for. The other dishes were good, but didn't stand out the way these three did. The "hole-in-the-wall" restaurant is casually located in a strip mall, so the evening dinner ambiance is extremely peaceful, without the loud music that typically accompanies Miami restaurants. Overall, a great restaurant. Just beware of the mosquitos if you're sitting outside! read more
Boia De hands down has to be one of the best restaurants in Miami, located hidden away in a shopping plaza, small intimate restaurant that packs a punch with flavor! Their menu changes often with the season and are very creative, their bar and wine is also top notch! They definitely deserve their 1 Michelin Star. Service is always great and attentive. My top dishes are the black noodle with Crab, Lamb ribs & the truffle Agnolottis. Make sure you make a reso in advance or come in ass soon as they open and find a bar seat. It's always full and most of the time fully booked for days in advanced. read more

Finally made it to Boia De, I had a lot of high expectations for restaurant since it's Michelen rated but I have to respectfully disagree. The staff is great but the food just didn't have that wow factor. The best plate we tried was the beef tartare. The pastas were mediocre at best and I wasn't a fan of the oysters. The crab cold pasta was pretty good and refreshing as for the tiramisu it had too much sugar. We asked the waitress to recommend some wine which was a whopping $26 a glass and was also not up to par. Aside from that the venue is just too small I would bump into the table next to me getting off the sofa chair, some more space between tables would be a good idea it's way too congested. read more

Top tier! Everything was amazing! I met with some friends for a meeting and it was a great experience from the beginning. Olivia and Blake were very on point. They were gracious and made sure to check on us pretty frequently. The vibe was quaint with a lot of character, clean & fresh smelling bathrooms. It's perfect for a happy hour and to unwind. For cocktails, we started with a Sangria and Bergronis. The Sangria was pretty light but very refreshing (I only needed 2). Every dish was so flavorful! We ordered an assortment as recommended: kanpachi crudo, beef tartare, veal sweetbreads, tagliolini Nero, pappardelle alla lepre and lamb ribs fra diavola. 5/5 the kanpachi crudo, beef tartare and lamb ribs were my favorite. We ended with a surprise bday dessert for my bday! Crispy Tiramisu and Chocolate Budino which was so rich. This is definitely a top place for me now and I will definitely return next time I'm on this side of town read more
This restaurant has been on my radar to try for a while and I finally snagged a reservation on Resy to try it. Not bad, it lived up to the hype. All dishes had wonderful flavors and textures. Some were better than others. I wasn't a fan of the eggplant appetizer we ordered or the veal shank, but the ribs and pork cheek were good. Portions are meant to be tapas style. I would recommend three to four dishes for two people. We ordered four heavier dishes and it was too much. The restaurant is teeny tiny with about 4-5 tables and small bar, so that is the reason there's a month long wait for a reservation. A bit of a tight and claustrophobic dining experience. Fantastic service and quick water refills. Restaurant is a bit hidden in a strip mall. Look for the exclamation point on the sign (not the name of the restaurant), it's next to a laundromat. This is a good place to try at least once. read more

My tastebuds are still tickled when I think of my scrumptious meal at Boia De! Dinner for 2 at the counter was lovely - got to see some of the action live while sitting on some comfy high top chairs. The drinks are vermouth/wine forward and fun spins on classics - I had a gin-less Non-groni which was a lovely spin on a negroni. In fact, I had 2 of these ;) Plate wise, we ordered the baked clams, the beef tartare, the Taglioni nero, the ricotta gnocchi ala nordica, and the lamb ribs fra diavola. Oh em gee flavors were off the charts good. My faves were the beef tartare, the lamb ribs and the gnocchi. The tartare was bright and savory and the chip texture was out of this world! they are chicharrón inspired and made of beef tendon! How innovative, right? The lamb ribs had a great kick to them, which was perfectly complemented by the yogurt sauce. One small note is that the knives were not serrated so though the ribs were tender, the meat was hard to cut if on a plate and you did not want to get messy with your hands :) But the gnocchi. The star of my show. Ricotta based pillows of goodness that were bathed in a rich but not heavy sauce with sausage and TRUFFLE ME CRAZY but the amount of truffle shavings on this dish is outstanding. Also probs my why the dish is almost $50. But worth the splurge in my opinion! The servers were attentive and did a nice job trading off. Casual but informative, they shared their reccs and I appreciated the substitutions and omissions for my partner who does not enjoy onion texture or flavor. Seating is limited, so and you're reso quick when you see one - Boia De is 5 stars all around! I do recommend bringing a jacket as the temp inside runs cool. read more
Boia de is a lovely restaurant that should be on everyone's hit list while in Miami. It's in an unassuming shopping center in the design district and is always booked and busy - as it should be cause the food is really good! The servers are extremely attentive and the service is super speedy. We got to sit at the chefs counter and see all the chefs make their magic as the plates come out. There is no hard liquor so the cocktails are all wine based - I highly recommend the Sweet 22 (whiskey sour vibes) & the Sunset in Sevilla (their take on an aperol spritz). Both were very refreshing and had the right amount of sweetness. The octopus confit and baked clams were delish, as well. If I had to go back and only order one of the two - it would have to be the baked clams. They were perfectly executed and very unique. Pappardelle alla lepre and the ricotta gnocchi alla Norcina were our main dishes after the smaller plates. We had everything family style and absolutely loved being able to share and taste all the dishes. When I go back, I'm definitely getting myself a plate of the gnocchi cause it was so delicious. The fresh Gnocchi was pillowy soft, sauce had the perfect kick to it and the sausage and truffle combo was heavenly. We tied out the meal with the famous crispy tiramisu and a glass of the 10 year Tawny port wine. Overall, a lovely date night with amazing food in a cute Miami restaurant. If you plan on being in Miami anytime soon - make a reservation for boia de! You won't regret it. read more

The food here is overrated in my opinion. Sunny's steakhouse has better pastas. Doya has better proteins. Tam tam, kyu, and shiso are just better overall. I will say, the Tartare and sausage gnocchi were pretty good, but the rest of the items were nothing special read more
Let's give a round of applause to Boia De! They've mastered the perfect combination of original flavors and simple dishes that are elevated to a whole other levels! I came here for the first time yesterday and was wowed by absolutely every single dish. Their salad, crudo, steak tartare, even the gnocchi was out of this world but what took my to the moon was the tagliolini nero with king crab. Wow! Absolutely spectacular! Their dishes are small and perfect to share and flavor a bit of the entire menu while not feeling overly full (perfect to save room for dessert). We were a table of four and we ordered around 9 tapa style items + 4 desserts... (don't judge, it was my first time and I couldn't help myself) lol. I was in love, all their flavors felt so fresh and so unique -- simple dishes I wouldn't usually order at a restaurant were outstanding here and I just couldn't get enough. I can go on and on about how much I loved this spot but I'll leave it at... try everything, enjoy it all, make your way to Boia De as soon as you can find a resy (which is almost impossible to get), and experience it for yourself!!! read more
All I can say is WOW! So tip number 1 here is plan ahead - you have to make reservations on Resy 30 days in advance at the time the bookings open up. The reservations book in seconds because the restaurant is very small, I think maybe they have 10 tables max in there, and maybe 6-8 seats at the counter (not including the bar). We made a reservation at Boia De for my birthday on a Saturday evening and entered a few minutes prior to the reservation time and were seated promptly at the counter (which we loved because you saw the prep chefs preparing your food and when prepared they also explained the dishes to you as well). Our server was really nice, he offered to answer any questions we had on the menu and he spoke to each dish in detail such as the food composition and food prep. The server suggested we order 2-3 dishes per person, which was a perfect amount of items for dinner! We started with the Jungle Berg drink ($16) and it was outstanding. They don't have a full liquor license, all drinks were wine based cocktails, but they all looked amazing, and for our drinks we couldn't tell any difference that they weren't liquor based drinks. For food we ordered: -Crispy Polenta ($14) -Beef Tartare ($18) -Bufala Ricotta Gnocchi al Pomodoro ($23) -Pappardelle alla Lepre ($28) -Pork Cheek Confit ($20) -Crispy Tiramisu ($11) All dishes were absolutely outstanding. The pasta was probably the best pasta we have had since we went to Italy earlier in 2023. I can't say that we have a favorite dish because they were all outstanding. The Pork Cheek was kinda a surprise, the broth that they have for the dish was absolutely amazing and very flavorful. There is plenty of free parking in the shopping center Boia De is located in, and it's tucked between the supermarket and a laundromat. You won't see the restaurant name either, just look for their logo (an exclamation point). For a Michelin 1 star restaurant in the area of the Design District, the restaurant is very approachable and comfortable and staff were absolutely outstanding as well. I definitely recommend checking it out and we look forward to returning for our next special occasion dinner! read more

I had high expectations for this restaurant, and every single one of them was exceeded. From the moment you step into this place--which is anything but pretentious, fancy, or grandiose, but rather elegantly simple--you understand why it has a Michelin star. Although the person who attended to us seemed new, he made every effort to please us and explain the menu. He was very attentive, replacing our plates and utensils each time he saw we'd finished a dish. Without a doubt, the food is the star of this place. We ordered several dishes to share: as a starter, we had the Chicken Liver and Foie Gras, which came with a delicious strawberry jam. The combination was to die for. The bread was so good that we ordered an extra serving. It was sourdough, grilled with olive oil. Then we had the White Truffle Tagliatelle--amazing! The pasta's texture, perfect doneness, and the sauce were simply delightful. Next came the Pappardelle Alla Lepre, a pasta with rabbit and rosemary, offering spectacular flavors. The final dish, and a must-try here, was the Ricotta Gnocchi Alla Norcina, combining Roman sausage and black truffle with ricotta gnocchi. Trying them should be mandatory! We finished our meal with a carrot cake that was to die for and a chocolate pudino with hazelnut and salted caramel. The latter was a bit too sweet for my taste, but still good. I loved the music. I asked for the playlist, but they explained that each night is different. They start with a song by a band or artist, and then AI takes over from there. Make sure to book in advance. The space, while very cozy, is small, and the tables are quite close together, at least by Miami standards. It feels more like a classic Italian high-cuisine spot. If you love great food, Boia De is a must in Miami. I'd come back a thousand times. read more

Boia De completely surprised me! This unassuming gem is located in Little Haiti and situated next to a supermarket you wouldn't even think that's the location. There's no overhead signage with the name either - just a "!" - making it more difficult to locate. In addition, reservations for this place are also quite difficult to come by, my friend and I waited a month's time, and they go by quickly so I would grab what you can if you see a spot. Inside it's a limited, narrow space. A few small tables in and out as well as bar seating. We sat at the bar and the bartender was kind enough to explain how everything goes as well as describe the foods we chose. He was very attentive and kind. When ordering, you'll need to order everything you want all at once, so take some time making decisions. As for the food, it's also a concise menu. Not a bad thing though, because everything is so rightfully curated that each dish was seriously one of a kind. So many different flavors and truly enjoyable. The menu has slight changes from time to time, but I highly recommend the beef tartare and crispy polenta! They were the highlights for me, but try anything it's bound to be good. read more

One of the best meals I had in Miami. I wish I had planned ahead and made an earlier reservation. They were able to accommodate us with outdoor seating since we arrived much earlier. Even through the heat, food was delicious. We spent quite some time after ordering various dishes because we wanted to try everything. I wouldn't hesitate to go back and try more. I must say the one dish I was so excited to try - the potatoes and caviar with creme fraiche wasn't all I'd hoped it would be. Everything else made up for it even though my photos aren't appropriately captioned with exactly what we ordered. read more

Unimpressed. Nice ambiance inside, but food did not deliver. Got a variety of things on menu and everything tasted mediocre (dishes also very heavy on herbs). Squid ink pasta was not al dente, too much yogurt dressing on lamb ribs, and rabbit meat was tough on pappardelle. read more

Oh... my... god... This might be my new favorite restaurant in little Haiti area. Had a good bottle of white wine, the beef tartare, baked clams, and the PAPPARDELLE ALLA LEPRE. Amazing!!! Definitely coming back to try more things on the menu. read more

Let me start by saying the food was creative and delicious. Really enjoyed all the pasta dishes and appetizers we ordered. They encourage sharing plates which keeps it family style and allows you to try more. The place it self is small and unassuming, tucked in between a laundry and a doctor's office so don't expect much in the way of fancy. The staff were friendly and on point. I do wish they would take a minute and explain the food as it comes, you order so many plates and once and the just start bringing and dropping them on table. Finally although I don't mind the super casual attire the staff has, at least 2 of them were wearing clothes with holes in them and not the designer kind. I think dressing neat and clean shows your class a little better than tattered old clothes. Other than that little personal observation, I would definitely go back. read more
Another Michelin star on my list! Very exciting. This spot was very lovely. Everyone was so sweet and welcoming. It is small but they have tables insides as well as outside. Definitely will need reservations! This place really knows how to treat you. Sarah was our waitress and she was great. Friendly and definitely knew the menu. Very helpful describing the Italian dishes. They never let your water glass even reach halfway. Very attentive. Also, they brought fresh plates after each dish. It was so fancy. Everything was really flavorful. Cooked perfectly. You can tell the pasta was made from scratch. Amazing. I even tried the pasta with rabbit. Never had rabbit before and it was cooked to perfection because it tasted wonderful honestly. So hats off to the chefs ! My favorites were the white truffle pasta. Pricey but very worth it. It was melt in your mouth good. My second favorite were the potato skins! I've never had them prepared this way. Switching up the cheese and adding caviar. Whoa! Definitely check them out. You'll have a great time and be treated right! I will definitely come back as I know they change the menu every week so that's pretty exciting. read more

Walter and the Boia De team really delivered such a stellar experience! Definitely one of my top 5 favorite meals since I moved to Florida in 2015. Not only was the food phenomenal, the service was top notch - outstanding. The servers and kitchen staff went out of their way to make us feel like royalty. First of all, this unassuming, little restaurant had the best ambiance with very casual, chill vibe and great taste in music. The Rolling Stones were on in the background and it just fit so well with the causal, yet trendy atmosphere. Everything we tried was outstanding! My favorites were: The pappardelle which was homemade and so texturally perfect, The beef tartar with fried capers was out of this world and last but not least, the potato skins with caviar really were excellent. I really can't come up with the right words to describe the perfection of it all. All I know is that I will definitely dream about the food we had for a long time to come. read more
Very small, unassuming restaurant in a crappy looking strip mall on the outskirts of Little Haiti in Miami. They serve beer and wine but no hard liquor. Because it's so small, tables can be slightly packed together, but no matter. The music is good and just the right volume; loud enough to hear some music, but not too loud to easily have a conversation. But the star here really is the food. It just doesn't get better than this, I don't care how much more fancy the restaurant might look. The menu is made up of small plates meant to be shared, 2-3 per person. We ordered 6 and each one was absolutely amazing. Baked clams, beef tartar, chicken liver & foie gras pate, tagliolini Nero, tortellini in brodo, papperdelle Alla lepre. Each one absolutely perfect. One of the best meals of 2024! Absolutely loved everything about Boia De! Great wine list as well as non alcoholic cocktails. This is a shareable menu that changes often. For appetizers, we chose the steak tartare, which was amazing. Fresh, high quality meat paired perfectly with the garlic shallot crumble and crispy capers. The kanpachi crudo was not what I expected, but it was fabulous. It tasted smoked already and it was complemented with the tomatillo salsa verde and the crunchy macadamia. The salsa verde was so good that we ate the rest of it with a spoon. For the mains, the star of the show was the búfala ricotta gnocchi alla norcina. The gnocchi was pillowy soft, the sausage was full of flavor although a bit salty. There was a generous shaving of black truffles and the sauce was divine! We also loved the lamb ribs. Perfectly cooked until they fell off the bone, slightly spicy with a refreshing yogurt sauce on the side. Their desserts are to die for, so saving room for desserts is non-negotiable! We could not decide what to pick, so we opted for two desserts. The chocolate budino is literally the best dessert I've had this year! The rich, chocolatey custard is topped with salted caramel, caramelized hazelnuts and topped with crème fraiche resulting in the most decadent dessert! The crispy tiramisu was just as amazing with the modern take. The crunchy cookies and the sea salt in between the layers makes you reach for more. Obsessed with both of these desserts! Service was friendly and attentive. The entire experience was fantastic and I can see why they have a Michelin star. We have been wanting to eat here for many many months until finally I made a reservation for one at the counter. And I have to say I was not disappointed. This is a restaurant you would drive by 100 times and not give a 2nd thought to even go into as it nested in a very unassuming shopping center. The food here is of the best quality and not pretentious at all - just well thought out and utterly delicious. I was able to try 3 dishes, baked clams, scallops and pasta with grouper along with one desert, crispy Tiramisu. I am looking forward to going back and trying others. One of the best and most interesting meals I've ever had. The server was so knowledgeable and marked the menu with all of the dairy free items. Service was nice and they coursed out the items well. We sat outside which didn't offer any ambiance but the inside had a cozy eclectic vibe. Every item we had was carefully plated and so flavorful. The standouts were the chicken liver and foie gras pate, tagliolini nero, crispy polenta, lamb ribs, and beef tartar but everything was SO GOOD it's impossible to pick a favorite. This is a place you'll want to return to as the menu changes and you will want to try everything! The drinks are also great and the sangria is perfect- not too sweet. Finally, I managed to snag a reservation a month out online. My husband and I arrived here at time of opening on a Friday. Parking was free and readily available in the plaza. We were promptly seated and greeted nicely by our waitress. Decor was cozy and quirky. We ordered 6 dishes, and that left us no room for dessert. My husband had a lovely glass of Saint Gervais wine, and I had a Shirley Temple. The Shirley Temple was too sweet for me. Otherwise, the food was delicious and unique. The flavor combinations for each dish reminded me of food I've had from other places, but with a twist. From my top favorite (I liked them all and would order again) and place it reminded me of: -Baked clams - New Orleans -Beef tartare - Mexico -Tagliolini Nero - Italy but like cold noodles from Korea or Japan dipped in cream/cheese sauce -Lamb ribs fra diavola - American bbq -Pappardelle alla lepre - France/Tuscany -Lucis chopped salad - American (good palate cleanser and refreshing!) So, long story short, I'd definitely come here again, and I'd save room for dessert too. It is on the pricier side, but if you're looking for unique food, I think it's worth it. I am also interested in their sister restaurant in the same plaza, Walrus Rodeo. Tips: they say that 5 dishes is about the number of dishes needed to have a fairly full meal for 2 people. If you are hungry, definitely order more as they send out the food spaced out so you can enjoy your meal in a more relaxed fashion. You will need to order all the dishes at once, too. Also, you can come without a reservation, as they usually leave seats available for walk-ins, but you may need to wait. Half the bar seats are for walk-ins. In advance of my Miami trip I basically Googled all the Michelin Starred restaurants in this city. Boia De popped up and I was surprised by how "affordable" the menu was! IMMEDIATELY, I tried to book a reservation one month in advance, but found that it was not possible for a party of two. Calling the restaurant proved to be unhelpful, we were put on hold and then the call disconnected... My partner and I were still determined to eat here, so we arrived at the restaurant 5:30pm Wednesday evening. To our surprise, were seated immediately! :) Boia De serves Italian-inspired small plates (kind of like tapas) that are meant to be shared. I LOVED everything we ordered. We had 6 dishes between two persons, which was the perfect amount of food for us. Here is everything we had listed below, from most favorite to less favorite (but still very delicious) -- Tagliolini Nero: if you ordered one thing from the menu it should be this. It is recommended and mentioned in so many Michelin guides. I did not expect my favorite dish of the night to be a cold pasta! -- Potato Skins: comes with a generous serving of caviar. The perfect salty, crunchy starter. -- Beef Tartare: one of the recommended menu items. My partner was craving more flavor, but I absolutely loved the tartare. -- Marinated Mussels: served with fingerling chips on top! Mussels cooked beautifully and already out of the shell. Really creative sauces. -- Rabbit Loin: this is not on the online menu as of 11/3/2022 so it must be relatively new. Great cook but I think the protein was light on flavor for me. Last but not least, I think this deserves its own category....the Crispy Tiramisu!! DO NOT skip dessert as this was one of the best tiramisu I've ever had. The Lady Fingers are fried but the tiramisu somehow still tastes like a very light dessert. So delicious. It was my partner's favorite dish of the night. A dinner for two was around $200 including tax and tip. Not bad for a Michelin Star! The service was fantastic as well. read more
ORDER ALL YOUR DISHES AT ONCE - They don't allow you to add anything else after - Book a month in advance (it's a small space) - Every day at 12pm, they release reservations for a month from now - There seems to be a delicate order in which they bring out your food in order for you to have the best experience - Tapas style - They have mocktails (got the shirley temple) - Baked clams: a MUST. zesty, small, so much flavour - Crispy polenta: the eggplant was way too sour, really hated it and couldn't finish the dish - Beef tartare: loved this dish, i liked the crispy capers instead of bread - Tagliolini nero: cold and refreshing but a bit like mayonaise + pasta? - Veal shank: meh - Lamb ribs fra diavola: the meat is so soft, the first few bites are wonderful, but then it gets super fatty and you need a bite of pickle to clear your palate - Crispy tiramisu: SO GOOD. great way to end the meal - It's a bit pricey but worth it - Service is always great - Free parking in the strip mall. Sometimes there are people lingering in the parking lot here and there - Interesting that it has a Michelin star. Instantly made me think of the NYC michelin starred restaurants...so not sure that this place is on the same level - It's on par with good restaurants in major cities - There are some michelin starred restaurants that have amazing food, and some that make you go "meh". Solid experience at Boia De! First the ambiance...I loved the colors and design inside . it felt like a retro brasserie, tight yet cozy with delicate decor. I really enjoyed the squid ink pasta, found it filling yet fresh with great flavor and herbs. I loved that it was cold, like a upgraded pasta salad! The crispy polenta had a great texture, and the lamb ribs were really tender. I would definitely return to try more, especially the gnocchi! read more

So, I've been trying to make my way through the Michelin guide and tonight I was so glad for my choices. I decided to take a risk and waitlist with a couple of friends from San Francisco who were looking for a really good but down to earth place and Boia De was the perfect place. The service was perfect and beautiful and the people were so nice. Even indulging my old husband telling him he looked trendy in his old dude glasses. But on to the food which was flawless. We ordered 8 dishes between the 4 of us (including dessert) and all 8 were fantastic with 4 standouts. On the really good list: Chopped salad, Papardelle, Polenta, Carrot cake. On the OMG list: the crudo, cauliflower, zucchini blossom pasta and gnocchi. The food was outstanding, the service was as great, and the place was lovely and quaint.
