#1 food is... Ok #2 train your waiters. Our waitress came to our table only because I flagged her down. They weren't busy, there was only 4 other tables. When I asked to have my wife's dish that has been sitting for 15 mins and not boiling to replace the sterno. The waitress argued that it was boiling and pointed at a bubble. I asked her to look at mine and then the other bowl she, with an attitude, says "fine I'll change it out. Once she returned magically it was boiling. I asked for a coke never got it. I would have asked once more but she never came back. Now maybe I was a little rude treating the waitress like a child, but I noticed the two other tables next to us were having the same issue where they had to flag down the waiters. My husband & I busted the Redmond, Boiling Point in the height of their dinner rush last night. We had a bit of a wait due to the time. But as soon as we were seated we were given menus & shortly their after our orders were taken. The variety & options of the soup they offer is great. This was the 2nd time I've been there & I had the lamb soup. It was ok but I really like the beef soup much better, which I had in a previous visit. This location recently opened and has welcoming employees unlike the other location in Bellevue. The food taste just like their other locations, so no complaints there. I only give this place a 3 because it seems like the portions of the side dishes and beef in my hot pot was not like the other 100+ visits we had. I had a very horrible experience. I was yelled by a waiter. It was supposed to be a nice trip, but after I signed my receipt, one of the waiters(a slim short Chinese guy without glasses) saw the receipt and asked me is anything bad about their service. At that point, I had no idea that I miswrote the tip and I gave them a small tip(I always skipped the tip line and just wrote the total, that's why I didn't noticed I miswrote it.) I thought it was just a regular check, so I told him everything was great and asked him why he asked that. He could tell me the tip is little, but instead, he didn't reply me, he took the receipt and looked furious. When my friends and I went out of the restaurant, he POINTED at me and THREATENED me by saying "You'd better never come back again!"Everyone in the restaurant could hear him yelling at me. So I went back and asked him what's wrong with him. He THREW the receipt at the table in front of me, POINTED hardly at the tip, and STORMED back into the kitchen. Then I noticed I have miswritten the total. To be honest, he had a chance to remind me I tipped too little and I would love to rewrite the tip if he had never acted like trying to bite my face off. But I just left my receipt there, got some changes from the nearest Walgreens and tipped all the waiters and waitresses one by one except him. I totally understand tipping is mandatory when the service is good and I'd love to give a good tip to a good service. But this was definitely the first time I was yelled by a waiter because he was unsatisfied about the tip. I strongly recommend him seeing a therapist to check if he is mentally unstable. This location was on par with others I have been to. I came with a coworker for lunch and I got the japanese miso with 2 stars and it was plenty spicy for me. And the portion was huge I was so full instant food coma. Probably should stick with a smaller bowl for lunch. We had been wanting to try boiling for about a month and decided to go for a NYE lunch date. We sat down unsure about how the menu and place worked but we were so grateful for our server, she was very kind and helpful towards us even though we seemed lost. She even helped us choose what to order and warned us about the "stinky tofu" which wouldn't be a good choice for newbies. We both ordered the beef bowl with green tea for the lunch combo which also came with side of rice. The food came out on the heaters and they lit us the fires beneath to heat it up. The food was DELICIOUS. I'm not a fan of tea but I thought it was ok and my girlfriend loved it. We came in very hungry and left so stuffed barely able to finish our portions. The food tasted super fresh and it was fun trying new things that we hadn't had before. Girlfriend had a 0 level of spicy and I had 3.. out of 4. There was a big range in the spice but it was perfect. Every part of the dining was great here. Our servers were awesome and helpful. The food was huge and really fresh. Drinks were great. Went with 5 friends on a Friday night and we beat the rush so we didn't have to wait. Location is smaller than the Seattle one. They have 14 soup options with your choice of spicy level and choice to add on extras. Each pot comes with a bowl of rice. During lunch you also get a cup of tea. I only got to come here twice during my Seattle visit, but each time was delicious. My bf loved it as well. The boba is not bad either. We ordered the macaron ice cream cake as well. I wasn't really a fan of it but my bf liked it. I've never had a macaron with ice cream inside so I can't really compare it to anything...the macaron seemed kind of dry to me. It's gonna be long but stay with me. I love the food. In Fact it is my favorite place to eat at. It is the only place my husband knows where to take me if I need some comfort food or just any special events. I would rather eat there than at cheesecake factory (sorry it's the asian in me, no offense cheesecake!). But why two stars? Anywhere you go to have a good meal it always counts a lot if you are enjoying the environment around you like the servers. I don't know if any other locations has the same flaws but this one in particular from the 1st time to more than 15 times going there i have not found a RESPECTFUL, efficient and happy looking server. When you come in they say something like the welcome in their language not even smiling just plain saying it. I caught them making faces a lot of time. They use their own language to communicate with each other which is weird when you're a costumer in front of them and you feel like "they gotta be talking sh*t about me that they cant speak english about it" feeling. Of all the visits i made, last night won the trophy. My husband and I with our sleeping 5 y.o niece, we brought with us our two friends to try the food and see the place. As we where coming in they said "table for 5?" And we said "yes" and then then server said "let me clean this table up first" did not say please wait for a sec or give us a minute. But we waited for 5 minutes standing right beside the table. But when she cleared it up my two friends sat the table and i was standing carrying my niece as she was sleeping I was looking at the server and seen her reaction with a biiiiig sigh on her face with a pause of what she was doing when she saw they sat down. I was like "wut?" Obviously my friends needed to sit down coz they got tired of standing and theirs obviously chairs and all whats left for the server to do is to put the utensils on the napkins which is not a hard thing to do with people seated on the table. But i did not mention it to anyone. Every little thing we asked like, extra saucer, bowl, water or forks they ALWAYS walk away the table forgetting to bring back what we ask. It was fine we just nicely ask them again. When we finished eating I went to the cashier and presented my stamp cards for the soup and the drinks and i have 1 soup free from all 4 soups we ordered. I doubled check the cashier that i get a free soup right? But It rang up to around $110 still. I told her can you do that again because As what you said I have 1 free soup. She said "oh yeah yeah yeah" just after a second i asked her if i have a free soup and her confirming she still rang it up to counting everything. Was she joking?? So she gave my the whole itemized receipt and checked it was good now and it rang up around $94. So i swiped the card, put the total amount and signed it. I did not put tip on the card because my husband and I always leaves the tip on the table. All to our surprise while we where leaving with my friends saying how good it was, a server came up and asked "is there anything wrong with the service?" And all of us said despite of everything "no, u guys are awesome" he said ok and walked away. But then it did not satisfy him. He came back with the check showing me that I did not put any tip. He was not even our server. The cashier was our server. Everybody was surprised because they DEMANDED A TIP IN FRONT OF US! We where all shocked and my friends was really awkward about it and my husband was mad about it and i simply told the server "we chose to leave the tip on the table" and the he said "okay okay and walked away" As we drove home everybody felt so deeply insulted especially the two friends I brought with us. The servers should work a lot on their attitude and making faces and hurrying up people on their order and speaking english clearly. When they're asked about the menu they lack knowledge as to what broth it's made etc. they make faces and they are not so welcoming. If not for the food i will never go back. If you are new goodluck. They don't help you much with the menu you have to see it for yourself what those ingredients are and all. Like when my friend asked what tofu is made of our server first "laughed" like we where stupid. Well they're mexicans thats why they asked. When they ask how spicy and you'll say 4 flaming spicy they will say "it is so spicy can you handle it?" After saying yes they ask back "have you tried it? Are you sure?" Omg!! My wife and I shared a number 4, which is their beef soup. We had asked for for a medium spice, number 2 of 4 levels. The spice did not get in the way of the flavor, but was more on the spicy side. The soup was delicious, especially when items in the soup was dipped in their garlic bean sprout paste. The items included in the soup were items I'm not familiar with or eat normally, but nevertheless was still yummy. My wife and I also had the Hokkaido tea w/ boba which complimented the spice very well. The service was great at first, but wasn't consistent. We think the hot pots here are good but dislike the environment. This restaurant is too small and so noisy! You always need to wait, and there is only little space between seat and seat that you even touch the other customer besides you. The service was good and food was delicious, but don't expect fast service and no substitutions.. The place is small and tables are squeezed in to fit as many customers as legally possible, so expect to sit very close to strangers. If you come as a large group, 6+, good luck. Most tables are 2-4. First off, I'm Taiwanese, so whenever I walk in and the staff greets me, I feel like I'm back in Taiwan. The store is pretty small, but it isn't much of a problem since I usually go there after 9 PM. The service is great, and so far I have always been seated immediately. It's nice that the employees speak Mandarin. The food is pretty good, but I feel like Boiling Point has been over hyped. Portions are pretty small, even for numbers 8, 9, and 10. Regardless of that, I will continue coming back as this is a great place to get a meal late at night. read more
