    Dry green beans

Overall I really liked this spot and I wanna go back and try more. The spot is really nice and cool with a nice parking lot right outside with a bunch of other nice businesses nearby. The service was nice quick and friendly and you order off an iPad, there was lots of options and had a fun time deciding. Overall the food was good, I really really liked the green bean, so salty and flavorful and yummy. I felt like the pork dish was a bit too saucy and didn't really taste Szechuan to me and while it was good it wasn't what I expected and I didn't love it but it was tasty. Maybe we ordered badly or something but bc the green beans were so good I'd give it the benefit of the doubt and give it a 4 this time.

Went here to go eat with family post work, so about 5 pm on a weekday. There was ample amount of parking and the dinner rush wasn't there yet. Was greeted and could sit anywhere. Food was great, we ordered off of the tablet. We chose the dry pot and it's basically ala carte. Can choose levels of numbing and spicy from a scale of 0-3. The other dishes we got were the chicken and the lamb fried rice, all of which were delicious. The dry pot serving is pretty huge. Reminder that rice is not included. From the two times I've been here, the service and vibe is great - very lax but can get loud later at night. The neon lights help liven things up. Overall, this place is a staple for me to return to, especially with their portion:price ratio.

Very unique spot at least for me. The whole dry pot idea is new to me and this was a good first try! We ordered a dry pot and chose the level of spiciness + numbness. This pot was the star of the night for me. I'm not big on spicy food but i really enjoyed this. We also ordered the cucumber salad and flour soup. The service was good and restaurant decor looked cool. Plenty of parking since it's in a big plaza. One less star only for personal preference since they didn't have a lot of non-spicy options, which I understand why.

Delicious flavors and a lot of variety. Everything is priced reasonably and the quantity is a good amount in each dish. I like how you can order without spicy if you wanted to! 3 big round tables for large parties was very useful Their 2 desserts were so good! Crispy white buns with condensed milk (6 pieces)! Brown sugar rice cake (12 pieces)

This is the first time we tried this restaurant . We tried 1. Bullfrog with pickled chilli :4/5 First time trying frog recipe and did not disappoint. Was skeptical but it Tasted delicious and tangy. 2. Beef trio : 3/5 This dish was decent in taste but nothing special 3. Beef fried rice:4/5 The fried rice is very tasty and delicious. Cooked to perfection. Food quantity was worth for the value for money. Service was great and pretty much on time Ambiance was simple and neat. Food :4/5 Service : 4/5 Ambiance :4/5 Overall :4/5

My holy grail restaurant when I want spicy, Szechuan food. I love love their house special, max spicy max numbing. The price and quantity is definitely steep for two, but 3 people is definitely the right amount to share. There is so much fish! Their service is pretty quick. Food comes out fast and servers are attendant. Super fun restaurant. LED lights everywhere, makes it fun :)

Really good fish place! I've only been to one other fish restaurant and that was back in the Bay Area in Cupertino so I'm happy to see there are more. The fish pots are perfect for 4 people and if you generally stick with mild, would suggest level 1 spicy and level 0 numbing. If you save the broth for the day after, warning that the spice level gets 2x since the peppers have been soaking overnight. Really tender fish, great toppings, you need to get the fatty beef, and the house broth is the way to go! Great service when they're not super busy. We requested cabbage after placing our order and they brought out a bowl of steamed cabbage for us to add in. Will be back!

    House Special Szechuan Fish Soup

Known for their Szechuan fish soups, Spicy Popo is a great spot to warm up on a cold day. This restaurant is not as busy as some of the other Asian eateries in this plaza, but its high ratings enticed us to give it a try. Three of us came in around 1:00P on a Saturday and were seated immediately. Every table is equipped with an iPad which you'll use to submit your order straight to the kitchen. For many items, you can't leave comments, so if you have special requests, you'd have to wave down an employee to let them know. It took us some time to scroll through everything, but we selected four dishes which ended up being plenty of food. + HOUSE SPECIAL SZECHUAN FISH ($44.99): Served in a huge pot adorned with dragon handles, this soup was a pretty good deal and can easily serve at least 3-4 people. It came filled with delicate filets of white fish, choices of two meats, two vegetables and customizable spice and numbing levels. We decided on lamb, shrimp, mushrooms and taro. As for spice, our choice of 1 star heat was mild and we opted out of numbing spice altogether. The prawns were plump, the mushrooms acted as sponges for the broth and the taro was a good starchy addition. I enjoyed the soup and it paired perfectly with a bowl of white rice. I just wouldn't recommend it with lamb since the meat permeated the broth and it became pretty gamey over time. + GARLIC PEA SHOOTS ($16.99): A large mound of pea shoots with large pieces of chopped garlic. They were tender, the stems still had a nice crunch and they didn't seem too oily. I loved them and the serving size was really generous compared to other restaurants. + CUMIN BEEF ($18.99): Thin cuts of beef were boldly flavored with cumin and some heat from chopped red peppers. Most pieces of beef were tender with the exception of a couple gristly slices. The beef was stir-fried with red onion and thin green vegetables which added a nice crunch. + GOLDEN BUNS w/ CONDENSED MILK ($8.99): It was my first time having this dessert. The fried bread rolls were crisp on the outside, fluffy inside and a dip in the condensed milk made them taste like a glazed donut. Unfortunately, you could really feel and taste the grease. Make sure to order these at the end so you can enjoy them hot. We liked all the dishes and the service was fine, but other than bringing the food and a handful of additional napkins, we weren't checked on. It seemed like they kept an eye on tables and would only swing by if they felt the need, or if guests called them over. One thing we noticed is that they appeared to use the same gloves to clean tables and when bringing the food, so this was one sanitary concern from our standpoint. Also, the water had a chlorinated taste, so I didn't feel great about drinking it. The cost of the dishes may seem pricey, but the generous portion of soup and the quality of the food made it worth it in my opinion. Seriously, the soup could feed a hungry family! This is a promising Szechuan pick on the Eastside.

    Golden Buns with Condensed Milk

I'm just going to call it up front: BEST Szechuan Popcorn Chicken in town. Swimming in a pool of dried chilis, it is very spicy. Spicier than I would typically tolerate, but it's the flavor that keeps me from stopping. Crispy, spicy, numbing, and savory. It is *chef's kiss*. My favorite item here. The House Special Szechuan is also very good. It's probably big enough for 4 portions. You get to choose 2 meats and 2 veggies to go with the fish. For the meats, I chose lamb and beef based on another review. I was a little skeptical about the combination of fish and meat, but I'm glad I trusted the review because it turned out pretty good. For veggies, I chose bean curd and A Choy because I like those, but I'm sure you can't go wrong with any veggie. For dessert, Golden Buns with Condensed Milk. There were 6 buns that were steamed, then fried. The outside was crispy while the inside was fluffy. The combination of friedness and sweet, condensed milk made for a perfect end of the meal. This review was based on a takeout order I made through the Order Togo app. The order was completed at the time specified and the worker was very friendly. Parking is in a plaza that *could* get crowded during certain times, but the day/time that I picked it up it there was plenty of parking.

I have heard countless of food things about Spicy Popo but haven't gotten the chance to check it out so I was beyond excited to try it one day with my friends! It was extremely customizable from the spiciness of the broth down to the protein and vegetable options! The service was quick and professional and I especially liked the use of the iPad which made ordering quick and easy! We loved our fish soup which was so flavorful and warming especially on a cold evening. Additionally it was located in a shopping plaza so there was tons of parking available!

This is one of my top Szechuan spots on the Eastside. We ordered the House Special Szechuan Fish (Level 3 spice, Level 2 numbing) and the Szechuan Popcorn Chicken. The fish dish had a good balance of spice and numbing, especially if you love spicy food. The chicken was crispy and flavorful, and had plenty of Szechuan peppers, which had a good amount of spice as well. Portions were ample and matched the price, for two of us we had plenty of leftovers. The venue is casual and has cool neon lighting. Ordering is done via tablet, and food delivery is quick!

Szechuan Fish (3.5 stars) The Szechuan fish ($44) came in a generous portion with fresh fish, which was great. We added beef to it, and while the flavors were decent, it wasn't outstanding. We ordered spicy level 1 and numbness level 1, which made it quite mild--maybe worth trying a higher level for more flavor. Shredded Pork with Szechuan Garlic Sauce (2 stars) This dish was disappointing. It tasted more like sweet and sour rather than a traditional Szechuan garlic sauce, which wasn't what we were expecting. Wouldn't order this one again.

It was, because Tasty House took over a former Chinese spot but improved on their quality. Ample parking in a good location. While they offer physical menus, they also have QR codes at each table for simple ordering online. We are accustomed to spots including rice with entrees so having to order it separately for an extra $2 per bowl feels bad. Items are large, so tailored for family style. Stir Fried Green Bean - as a green beans fanatic, my partner was a huge fan of the ones here. She liked these over our usual Canto spot which says a lot. The green beans themselves were fresh and cooked perfectly but the sauce was more flavorful than most. Very savory and lightly salty, not really spicy. Sweet and Sour Chicken - missing the onions and pineapple but a very sizable portion of large, tasty battered chicken paired with juicy and crunchy bell peppers. Definitely pair with some rice, there's a lot of sauce and a simple carb helps with balance. Shredded Pork with Sweet Bean Sauce - I was attracted by the steamed buns (gua bao), but the pork was tasty. A bit fatty and drenched in a savory, umami bean sauce, a simple carb like rice will help soak up sauce and balance flavors. There aren't enough buns for the meat, but they are a simple carb that balance out the meat and honestly, a refreshing change in flavor and texture.

Two of us came in at noon on a Sunday and we were seated immediately. A carafe of water with lemon was already placed on the table and we asked for a pot of tea which was complimentary. Out of their large menu, we selected three dishes which turned out to be a well-balanced meal. The food came out more quickly than expected and the portions were generous! While we polished off the vegetable dish, we had enough noodles and chicken for another serving. + CHONG QING HOT CHICKEN ($21.99): Small fried pieces of chicken came tossed in spicy seasoning and a ton of dried chili peppers. The online menu displays three pepper icons which I'd describe as accurate... I could definitely feel the heat! Despite the moderate tingling, I couldn't stop eating these as the outside was perfectly crispy, the chicken was juicy inside and the pieces weren't too salty either. I just wish the chunks of chicken were larger. Many of them were so small that it felt like I was eating just crust. + HOT & SPICY HAND SHAVEN NOODLES ($15.99): Really good! These noodles are hand-cut, so they come in a variety of lengths and thickness. I asked about the spice level on this dish and the waiter said it's between one and two stars, but you can ask them to make it spicier if you'd like. I personally didn't find them very spicy, especially not compared to the Chong Qing Hot Chicken! The noodles had a nice firm chew and the sauce was addicting too. For our meat option, we chose beef, which was super tender and thinly sliced. An ample amount of cabbage added some crunch. + STIR-FRIED GREEN BEANS ($15.99): These beans were so delicious and tossed with a ton of chopped garlic. This was not spicy at all, but full of flavor. We kept scooping more and more beans onto our plates. The employees who we interacted with were personable and as we packed our leftovers, we asked for a couple cups of hot water to end our meal. The waiter kindly brought them over and also gave us a heads up that the kitchen was closing in 10 minutes at 3:00P, just in case we wanted to order anything else. At 3:00P, the staff all take their lunch break and the restaurant opens back up at 5:00P for dinner. Given the various table sizes, this restaurant can accommodate groups of different sizes. There are many four-person tables, but also a couple larger tables in the front and what appeared to be a separate room behind two doors. I recommend Tasty House for a good local Szechuan spot! 4.25 stars.

From the moment you walk in, the cultural atmosphere stands out--many of the patrons are Asian, and on my visit, a few were even dressed in traditional garments, which added a vibrant, lived-in feel to the space. It's the kind of detail you can't manufacture, and it speaks volumes about the restaurant's credibility within the community. The interior itself is fairly average--nothing particularly modern or upscale--but it doesn't detract from the experience. If anything, it keeps the focus where it belongs: on the food. Service was a bit of a mixed bag. There were only two servers handling the floor, and they were clearly stretched thin. Ordering is done digitally, which helps streamline things, but you can still feel the strain during peak times. That said, the food started arriving quickly--our tofu noodle dish came out almost immediately, while the beef dish lagged behind a bit. Presentation leans traditional in a charming way. The plates and chopsticks have that classic, no-frills aesthetic that complements the overall vibe of the restaurant. Now, let's talk about the food. First, a word of caution: spice levels here are no joke. If you're sensitive to heat, you'll want to dial it down. But if you can handle it, the flavors are absolutely worth it--rich, bold, and deeply satisfying. The tofu was exceptionally soft, almost silky, and clearly freshly prepared. The noodles matched that texture perfectly--tender, well-cooked, and comforting. Pricing is another strong point. For the quality and portion sizes, it's very reasonable, making it an easy spot to revisit without hesitation. Overall, Nine Noodles is a great pick if you're looking for authentic flavors, a culturally immersive atmosphere, and solid value. It's not about fancy decor or polished service--it's about good, honest food. I'd definitely come back.

I had lived in Beijing for 8 years and spoke pretty good mandarin for a 老外 so I ordered for us. Our waitress, one of two sisters who ran the place, I call her 陈大姐, said to me, Wow, you can speak Chinese! You must be very smart! I replied, You must be very smart. You can speak Chinese! At first she didn't know what to say but then laughed. It was the beginning of a lovely relationship. However since the pandemic we had not been back. Perhaps yesterday we were in the spirit of celebrating the Spring Festival. We decided to go there. What a great choice! 陈大姐 by coincidence was working. She retired years ago. (Her sister opened another 老四川 in Bellevue but unfortunately has since passed away.) 陈大姐 immediately recognized us. She remembered our son and other family members who often joined us there. It felt like old friends getting together again. Unfortunately my wife and I were the only ones in our little group. It's better to have more people so you can order more dishes. We only got 4 dishes, 宫保鱼, 椒盐虾,干煸四季豆, 夫妻肺片。Gong bao fish, salt and pepper shrimp, green beans and "husband and wife lung strips"! Actually that's a beef and tendon appetizer. Everything tasted just like we remember. Well, the fish dish was wetter than before but still tasty. Flavors are authentic but a little toned down from the Sichuan food in China and in a few other local restaurants. The main flavor of Sichuan cuisine is 麻辣 or spicy numbing. It's not really so hot as it is numbing. Your lips tingle. Most people who didn't grow up with this aren't big fans. Their 水煮肉 or 水煮鱼 comes pretty close though. Leftovers with either of those and leftover rice plus whatever make the very best 烩饭, huifan! Just boil it. We arrived there early and there were just a few other customers eating. And they left soon after. So it was just us and a steady stream of delivery drivers coming in to pick up food to go. I would consider ordering on line like that but this food doesn't hold up well over the distance to our home. Although the interior had been remodeled since our last visit, the decor is fairly stark. Combine that with the location in a strip mall on the corner of Jackson and 12th, which has seen better days, ambience isn't a real draw. However if what you want is a very good meal at reasonable prices then you should go to the Sichuanese Cuisine restaurant in Seattle. (I prefer it to the one in Bellevue.) Too bad you probably won't get to meet 陈大姐。Now that we know the food is still great, we will return.

They prices are priced well. Remember everything is al a cart, you pay extra for rice. That's fine. The pancake was inedible it had no flavor and was very (very) dry. The dumplings needed soy which I didnt get (bad on me) and the dipping sauce all heat no chili flavor. I have had better frozen dumplings which made me sad. Will try one of the other amazing Chinese places in downtown Seattle.

We also ordered the dry pot pig intestines and added a few veggie items. The large was more than enough for 5-6 people. We ordered it with the standard spice level and it was a bit more spicy than we liked but was good. The ingredients tasted fresh. The servers were nice but didn't interact with you unless you request. I think they are respecting your time but they come off cold.

Honestly, the food was great and it came out pretty timely as well. All the non-soup dishes were the right mala, so be warned if anyone can't handle numbing/spice. The staff was extremely attentive from the beginning - checking in on us if we could handle spicy/mala, serving us the first bowl of soup, giving us extra napkins, and asking to change to clean plates. I would say that the parking, if packed, is troublesome as I would assume there are many people that would come here after work. It is right next to the T-Mobile office so I would say be wary of the parking. Other than that, we had a great time here and would invite more people to come.
