Come here pretty often. Always satisfies my soup cravings. I enjoy all of their hotspots and their appetizers are good as well. Usually pretty quiet during the weekdays which is nice. Waiters always check on you and the owner is sweet too.

Half of my order of the chili dumplings

I ordered my food online, and pickup was easy. There is plenty of parking so I parked right in front. The bathrooms are currently closed to non-employees fyi. The host was nice and pleasant. So how was the food? My favorite is the crab Rangoons!!! They had a code for 4 free pieces for orders over $25 I think, available online only! The dumplings in chili oil (7.95) comes with 6 dumplings which are very tasty but soo spicy. Definitely get if you have a good spicy tolerance. The meat was of good substance too..it was mostly meat and not veggies which I am a big fan of. I felt the seafood pan fried noodle (14.95) came with very little noodle and didn't really look like the picture I saw...it was in a rectangular shape and wasn't... very soft. It reminded me of an uncooked ramen noodle. I wouldn't order thing again unless they make sure the noodle is a bigger portion and it's not that weird non-cooked texture. I've had pan fried noodles in other big cities and this one was very different than that. I heard the beef noodle soup was a fan favorite so I ordered that and it was kinda salty...but I did like the type of noodle they used. I may order some other noodle dish one day and pray that it isn't too salty.

    A Taiwanese-style (I think) "boiling pot"
    Erik S.

This is a nice little eatery, with hot dishes perfect for chilly Michigan weather. It's owned and operated by a Taiwanese family (who are very friendly, by the way). When we visited I had 牛肉面 (beef noodles), and my wife had a Taiwanese style hotpot. Importantly, this is NOT hotpot like you'd get at a 火锅店, where you cook the different ingredients yourself in boiling soup. Instead, I would describe this as maybe Taiwanese-style (not sure, as I haven't been to Taiwan) bowl with various ingredients already in a boiling pot. Thus the restaurant name, I suppose. My 牛肉面 was quite yummy. It's very similar to the style served in Guangzhou. Prices were appropriate for what we ordered. Anyway, I like this place and we'll be back.

I would throw out the 2 star review on this place...just because firstly, this place is not "Chinese," it's Taiwanese. And actually, this was extremely fairly priced for a hot pot restaurant. Anyway, this place was delicious! I always love a one pot-per-person type of format. The service here was very good. The spices and the portions were on point! Very authentic tasting.

My son and I found this place when we were out doing something in Lansing and it was AMAZING! Wish it was closer by home- I would go here all the time. Had seafood hot pot, beef with black pepper sauce and the beef noodle soup- tasted so good and the broths were some of the tastiest I have had in a long time. I recommend this to all my friends in the area! I am going back soon because heading that way next weekend and already looking forward to it and planning what I will try next time!

We found good place to eat for Korean and Chinese food. Omurice(fried rice with egg) was so tasty. I'm expecting to other menu. I'll visit again when I go to Lansing.

Excellent food and service! We were visiting Lansing for the week and stopped in for hot pot. My kids loved it! The restaurant is spacious and was comfortable. Definitely felt very "mom and pop" and the staff were very warm and accommodating. Me and my daughter each had hot pot and my husband had the spicy beef. It was all very delicious and full of flavor. We will definitely return if we are ever back in the area.

If you're looking for the best chinese in town this is it! They have everything from crab rangoon to hot pots and family meals. We ordered the dumplings in chili oil, hot and sour seafood soup, egg drop soup, shrimp lo mein, chicken fried rice, sesame chicken, shrimp in garlic sauce and crab rangoons. Everything was hot and fresh and absolutely delicious! Will definitely order from them again and try out some new dishes. So glad there is a great chinese place near Okemos now.

A cabbage worm that'll only give you 20% off your meal.
    Logan S.

Great food, amazing customer service, and clean dining area. My only issue was that when I got my hot pot, I ate about half of it and found a fat worm (like the size of a bigger inchworm but white and spotted, probably a cabbage worm). The worm wasn't the thing that made me upset, I've worked in a kitchen and this stuff happens, it's just a statistical inevitability, the thing that made me upset was the fact that they only took 20% off the meal when I brought the worm to them, they should've given us the meal for free. Finding a worm in the food is not worth the 20% discount... like I don't want to give this place a hard time, but like cmon a 20% discount? Was the worm really worth 20% of the meal??

    Free fried dumplings!

Potstickers/fried dumplings were well made and full of great flavor. Beef scallion wrap was a tasty appetizer that was much larger than I anticipated, so a pleasant surprise indeed. Their boba wasn't ready when I tried to order so I cannot comment on it. But as a self proclaimed boba drink snob, their milk tea was excellent and their lychee jelly was delicious. I would definitely come back and recommend others to do the same.

RELOCATION ALERT! We just found out that Galbi King on Grand River relocated in its sister restaurant Boiling Pots! We've been passing by GK almost everyday and wondering what happened?! No notice on Yelp and on their Instagram account. We just had to find our ourselves until we went to BP for some soup and received two menus. I then asked the server and she confirmed it. Although it's a win-win for me because I love both restaurants equally, I just wish they have announced it on their pages. I ended up finding a new go-to Korean spot thinking I've lost GK forever! Lol

Spicy beef and miso hot pots

Came here for dinner and first impression- dining room was clean and modern. The waitress was so friendly, she explained the concept of mini hot pot and gave us suggestions. Ordered spicy beef and miso hot pots. They were delicious! Great broth, meat, veggies and noodles. They came with rice also. We shared the hot pots and they were more than enough for the 3 of us. Great find!

Easy parking, though WAZE navigation had us do a u-turn and go in the back to circle to the front. It too is several minutes to get seated. It took them over 15 minutes to take our order. It was about 40% full on a Saturday night at 7:30. Once they took the order it took another 20 minutes to make the food. The staff are slow, but friendly. We ordered the kimchi pot and the seafood & tofu pot. Both were tasty, but I think it was high in sodium because we were both super thirsty afterwards. The pots had a good variety of meats and vegetables.

When we went there they were "out" of half the menu. As a business they should probably stock what they advertise.

My nephew…read moretold me about this place and told me to get the dry pot, so checked the place out while visiting EL. I looked at the menu and for the dry pot, you need to select a min. of seven items from the menu. If doing dry pot, let the staff know, as there's a separate menu for it. I went with med. spice, added: squid x 2, rice noodles x 2, shrimp x 2, beef brisket x 2, pork belly x 2, baby bokchoy x 1, chinese cabbage x 1, egg plant x 1, dry tofu x 2, & enoki mushroom x 1 Yes, added a lot and it's because the menu was not helpful. Lot of the items are singular, couldn't tell if "Squid" meant 1 or 1 serving. If it was 1 serving, how many squids came in a serving? As I wasn't sure, some of them I ended up ordering two. IE: Shrimp, I got 2 orders, there were 9 or 10 shrimps... had I know 1 order was equal to 5 shrimps, I would have ordered just 1. I wish they would update their menu to reflect the topping items so the customers know how many comes in a order. My bill came out to $70, yeah, it can get expensive! It took some time to get the food... but because I ordered lot of items, the food that came out was good for 5 people :) It was good, loved the medium spice and definitely hit the spot. Oh and yes, had leftover and took it home. I thought I was going a good job of eating, but barely made dent in the plate. I brought the leftovers home and had two more meals out of it. If you are in EL area, definitely visit the place and if you go, go with friends to try other offerings. If you are solo diner and ordering dry pot, only order one item of each from the list and 7 items from the list will be plenty for one person. Three stars for now.

But a friend had recommended it so we were willing to give it a try. Overall a great Chinese food experience. The menu says it's a Sichuan restaurant. And they had Sichuan dishes plus the "American" Chinese dishes you'd expect. I see they also do dim sum but we didn't try that. They have a ton of vegetarian options! The server told us that they have been open since about 2011 and they used to only have traditional Sichuan food. Their primary customer base was international students who wanted authentic Chinese food like they had at home. But after Covid there were few international students from China in town and their business was struggling, so they expanded the menu to appeal to American tastes. As a result, the menu is huge! And you can choose between authentic Chinese or American style. We tried 2 dishes and enjoyed them both. We will definitely return and try some others. It's not a fancy restaurant but there are comfortable seats for 2 and big round tables with turntables for parties of 10 who want to share dishes. The staff is a very nice and helpful family. And they could really use some more customers! Carry out or dine in.
