First and foremost, I am a long time lover and supporter of Boise Brewing. The staff has always been friendly, the atmosphere has always been welcoming and the beer has always been enjoyable. However, upon attending this years treefort we had the displeasure of meeting Kate Sharp the taproom manager. My husband, my in-laws, and I entered the area showed our IDs, received our Boise Brewing specific wristbands, attended the shows, enjoyed lunch, a beer, and a few games as the bands performed. My in-laws stepped outside an opening with no markings to vape away from the public, and upon re-entering WITH WRISTBANDS were verbally attacked by Kate Sharp. They had re-entered in an area that was not approved according to her (again no markings anywhere in sight, just an open area) and even after emmense apology of the misunderstanding she was completely disrespectful and beligerant. My mother in law stating "I'm so sorry we wont let it happen again" only to be met with "you better not let it happen again!" finally after several minutes of this berating my father in law stepped in to call her on her attitude, and remind her the escalation was unnecessary. She met that with "you want me to call security?" my in-laws thinking security would see reason as they were both sober, were then escorted out by a very apologetic security staff. Several minutes later my husband and I were finishing our lunch and she reapproached our area with another staff member to continue speaking poorly about the incident. Some of which was untrue, claiming my in laws were beligerant and bragging how she "took care of them". It is unfortunate because, as I stated, the incident was a total misunderstanding and we did everything right. We showed our IDs, paid our money, and were just trying to be considerate of other patrons with their vaping habit. To be clear we understand the issue, it is a liability issue in the case someone were to bring outside alcohol in or whatever the case may be.. They never left line of sight, left their belongings with us at the table, and were outside about 5 minutes. Her handling of the situation leaves a lot to be desired and I hope she receives hospitality training as a manager. We will not be back. read more

Inside out: parking for here can be hell, it's honestly my biggest complaint and often I just don't want to deal with it if I'm going there. That being said the inside and out of the building is lovely and always clean. I've attended a few events here over large spans of time and once I'm in I'm fine. The food: I couldn't really say, I've never had it but there was a soup vendor there that was fantastic, mountain goat soups. The beer though is never displeasing. It's never knocked my socks off with how good it is but it gets the job done. I love their labels and advertisement for their products though. The service: has always been okay, never rude, sometimes inattentive or they focus on regulars but always friendly once you're interacting. It has never bothered me. It's a great place to just swing in if you're walking downtown, attend an event, and be on your way. Just not my favorite place to try and get to if I'm not already walking around downtown. read more

What better way to spend a couple hours in Boise other than brewery hopping? Our first stop, Boise Brewing, also ended up being our favorite. We came at an off time during the week, so we were lucky to have most of the place to ourselves. We sat at the bar and enjoyed great conversation with the man working there. My wife & I spent a Saturday night in Boise & we made a stop to Boise Brewing. We took a seat right at the bar & ordered a couple Better Hazy Than Never IPA's, followed by the nitro Red Cream ale. Boise Brewing is a great little brewery conveniently located in downtown Boise. Came in here on a weeknight for a post work brew. I ordered an imperial stout while my beer swigging partner in crime opted for the Snowboarder Porter. Both were solid. We debated on who had ordered better--but couldn't decide. Because really? Both were equally pleasing in their own way (stout was full of flavor--porter was lovely and smooth with subtle notes of chocolate). We ordered at the bar and took our beers to their upstairs seating area. The atmosphere downstairs is open, industrial, and a skosh on the noisy side. Upstairs it's a little quieter, a little comfier, and a bit more chill. Plus--foosball anyone? We were able to chill in relative peace, overlooking the activity below for 45 minutes. I'm not sure the waitstaff actually serves up there (servers came upstairs and cleared away empties--but didn't address us other than that). But, truly, the place is so small, and the service at the bar was so quick and friendly, I have no probably heading to the bar for refills. The downstairs bar/seating area opens up to a small patio area as well. It's not fancy, and a little no frills--but you can definitely enjoy a brew while sitting in the fresh autumnal air. For my part, I could definitely see myself heading down to enjoy a brew and chill sesh in their upstairs loft. Get to it! read more

I like this place a ton! It definitely has the atmosphere of a brewery with the beer brewing towers, wood tables, chalkboards with the beer list and several beer taps. I came here for a date and we initially sat at the bar. He ordered an IPA and I ordered a blonde beer, both great choices! I wasn't really focusing on the names of the beer since I was on a date, sorry. :) After about 10 minutes of chatting and sipping our beer we decided to head upstairs so we could hear each other better. I think on a regular, no music day, sitting at the bar would be fine but they had a great singer/songwriter playing some tunes. We moved upstairs where there were board games, a t.v with football playing, and, dun, dun, dun- A fooseball table! My date and I were the only people upstairs so we played solo foose and had a blast. Afterwards we sat and chatted and drank a few beers and enjoyed the ability to have a conversation while still listening to the live music! I will go back more often now! Boise sure does have some great places for beer, even on this insanely quick trip. Walking around downtown, you find Boise Brewing in an area nearby Julie Davis Park, the Basque District, and most of the rest of the central core. A nice modern or refurbished building, the aesthetics here are great. There is seating inside and more out along the street, with a couple outdoor games as well. While we were there, a group trivia event was also started up, so it seems you can certainly have fun around here. I was lucky enough to try some tasters of a number of their beers. The amber and pale were quite good, as was the IPA. Any of these would be great beers to sip on a warm afternoon. However, I went for a full glass of their Black Cliffs Stout. It was a very tasty beverage, if I do say so, and I ended up deciding to get a growler full of it, especially since they were having some discounted fill-up specials on it and a few other beers on-tap. There are also some selections of cider and wine on tap, should you feel the desire for something other than beer. They don't, however, appear to serve food here, but plenty of food options close by within a few blocks of walking. So I have to say that the prices here are excellent, the quality of the beer outstanding. The staff were very helpful and friendly, and parking nearby is very easy, but restricted mostly to street spaces. Definitely going to return when next I am lucky enough to visit Boise. read more
