After surviving a heart attack, I decided to take on the challenge of building my dream classic car. I chose a 1968 Camaro to do a full frame off resto-mod. When it came to the point to install an exhaust system I wasn't sure what I wanted. I called Boise Muffler and the owner talked me through what would work best to help make my 502 Big Block breath. I wasn't sure if the exhaust would fit past the rear end due to relocating the rear shocks. Boise Muffler said no problem. I trailered my car to the shop in the morning and at the end of the day my car was done. Brought my 2020 Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT here to have a Borla Atak cat-back system installed. I recently had a bunch up upgrades done to my Jeep. However, the muffler got in the way of the new suspension. After a few weeks of driving without it, I knew something had to be done. I stopped at Boise Muffler and asked it there was anything that would fit in the space that remained. After a quick look around, I got an affirmative, and I scheduled a visit. I showed up a bit early for the appointment, and the Jeep was rolled onto the rack. After a few moments, there was concern. Standing under the Jeep it seemed there wasn't room to do anything other than a downspout. I was very concerned about driving into California, so, we started playing with options. Over the years there have been times where I bring in estimates from other shops and they told me that I didn't need it or advise what other options I could do. Had to have a catalytic converter installed by a friend the night before our family summer road trip on our 1997 Camry due to engine light warning. Friend did his best on such short notice but the exhaust sounded like a straight pipe when he was done. Showed up at BMS the next morning at 7:45 am and even with a whole morning of scheduled work orders, Shaun got us in and out with a reinstallation and proper weld by 10 am. I had a catalytic converter problem and was super time crunched as I was about to move. In the end, they couldn't do the work for me given my time constraints. However, they did a full inspection and testing to fully diagnose the issue. Before recommending an expensive repair, they collected all possible data to make sure it was justified. Explained everything to me. Sent me home with the error codes and advice to get the codes checked and cleared on my cross country drive if the check engine light went on and off so I'd remain safe. Could not have been a more thorough, honest communicator. I was super bummed I couldn't let them do the repair. For all the work they did in inspecting and testing and recommending? Zero charge. The dealer told me that it would cost over $1,600 to fix my exhaust system. I called Boise Muffler and made an appointment couple of hours later after I had picked up my grand daughter from school. When I came in Seann looked at it told me that it was fixable and the total cost would be between $60 to $80. End result is I was in and out in about 30 minutes with my exhaust fixed at a cost $60. This shop was recommended by my mechanic. Good work and price. 2 years later the exhaust manifold gasket failed. They warrantied the gasket and split the labor with me even though they only have a one year guarantee on labor (it wasn't their fault the gasket failed). A few months back, my husband laid down the law and said it was time to get my muffler repaired because it was just too loud. These guys are the real thing. Very nice gentlemen at the shop. I had a rattle underneath my Toyota truck. They put up it on the rack, the guy came out and told me I had a loose heat shield on my catalytic converter. He told me that they would tack weld it and out the door for 10 bucks. I had a great experience all around at Boise Muffler. My car had been really loud lately and some friendly employees at a car wash told me my muffler was hanging down...not a good sign. I called these guys and they scheduled me for an appointment the next day. Even better, they took my car back right on time! The guy taking care of me came back a short time later and said a seal broke and they could reattach the muffler for me and it would only take 10 minutes. Service was inexpensive, quick and I drove off with a much quieter car! Will definitely be back if I ever have any muffler problems. I was quoted a price for a cat back exhaust and muffler for my 2015 Venza. When the work was done, the bill was above the quoted price. They did not perform a cat back replacement. They merely replaced the muffler...for over $300. I'll never return. And I have told others of this shop's dishonesty. read more

I am not impressed. We took our truck in to have the muffler welded, not even a year ago. Last month the weld broke, when we looked you could see right where it broke on the weld. To me, that show the weld was too hot. But, apparently, according to Boise Muffler, it was because of dirt & off roading. Which we do not take the truck off roading. Now, a month later the same weld they just did has broke again, because of dirt. Seriously? I will not be recommending Boise Muffler to anyone i know. I will happily refer to someone else. read more

I do basically like this business and they had done great work on certain parts of my car over the last few years. However, recently they cost me a lot of money and headaches and I was forced to get rid of my car. They decided at some point to not work on Volkswagens anymore and instead farmed it out first to a guy who didn't know what he was doing, then to a guy who didn't care. This resulted in me paying Boise Muffler $1500 for a new catalytic converter and a couple air flow sensors. And when neither of those diagnosis fixed the issue, I took the car elsewhere. The new place had no problems finding the fibers in the coolant and oil right off the bat and diagnosed it as a bad head gasket. I was pretty upset about paying so much for someone to not know what they were doing and my attempts to call Boise Muffler about this issue were met with two weeks of phone tag before I realized they didn't care. After thinking it over with the car sitting in the driveway for about 9 months I decided not to spend $2000+ more to fix the head gasket too and sold the car for scrap. Wish I had just gotten rid of it instead of paying Boise Muffler $1500 to send it to someone to tinker around on it. But I live and learn. If I decide to get a car again, I'll have a good mechanic situation set up first and not Boise Muffler again, which is sad because they are pretty nice and seem to be better than most other places. read more

I purchased a used 2007 Jeep Wrangler in January 2013. We had started to noticed a "tinny" rattling coming from the muffler area a few months after we got the Jeep. I found Boise Muffler on Google and brought our Jeep in to get looked at. Without an appointment they took a look. I was expecting to buy a new muffler. The mechanic came back and said that the heat cover near the muffler was a little loose and just needed a small weld, which they did for free. I was very delighted and relieved I didn't have to pay anything for the repair. I will be coming back to Boise Muffler when I have any other muffler related issues. read more
