We ordered chicken tender meals tonight around 6:00. They were terrible. I believe they were fried (too much) mid afternoon! They should have been thrown in the trash by Bojangles. Biscuit was very good and mashed potatoes were good. Please do better.

    No menu, like at all?

Let's start with the good....renovations. That's about it. We entered through the gas station and split up. I went to the restroom. It was clean enough, but no mirrors? I assume because of new tiling on the walls. Bet I looked at hot mess after the drive, oh well. My husband went to the counter to make a purchase and was ignored. He said it was a bit rude and really awkward so he walked away. On to the Bojangles I suppose. Nope, no menu board. Now if I was a diehard fan I'd have the menu memorized. Sadly it's been years since my last visit. We are now on to the next exit to hopefully find a better experience. Overall, if it wasn't for the recent renovations this would easily be a one star experience. But as my husband just said, "you can't put lipstick on a pig." I feel that.

The building is a combination of other buildings that you just want to explore, but on the inside, most are open for dining. And I would imagine in peak season, they need the space! The buffet was delicious, affordable, with beverages included in the price! Service was great, too! They make up your plate for you, fill your drinks, and even bus your table. Conveniently located right outside of Santee State Park or near the Santee National Golf Course, it's an easy trip to make no matter why you are in town!! The buffet is Southern Comfort foods at their best, BBQ, collards, fried fish, veggies, etc and it gets an additional items for dinner. Check it out if you're in the area!!

It is only about 2.5 miles off I-95 at the entrance to the state park. We got to the road with no problem but passed it and had to turn around. It is tucked off the side of the road. As other reviewers mentioned, it is a buffet (no other option). You are separated from the food by a plexiglass shield, and you just point to what you want. Yes, the fried chicken was fabulous, and the pulled pork was good, too. Since I hadn't ever had tomato pie, I can't compare it to others, but it was good. All home cooked food... If you are on a diet, you might want to skip it. The only sugar-free drink offering was unsweet tea as the diet pepsi was out. I opted for 1/2 sweet and 1/2 unsweet. They fill your drinks for you and check on you in the dining area. Banana pudding for dessert? Yes, please!

Captains Quarters is just across the street. Yelp showed great reviews and the menu was super appealing. Mix of seafood, steaks and just good home cooking. It opens at 5pm for dinner weekdays. We got there about 6 to a pretty large crowd already. Apparently the locals know . Gypsy was our amazing server. Sweet and super knowledgeable. She's this places best advertisement. She had great tips on the whole menu. She was spot on for the red sauce. Chicken parm was perfectly tender. Sauce was like Nonnas. Recommendation to do the shrimp blackened was perfect. Way too much food for sure but she did warn that we would not go home hungry!! Beer was cold. Wine recommended was perfect and did we mention Ms Ellie? Ms E is an amazing young lady who stood watch on the whole dining room. With a hawklike gaze she quickly recognized a table needing bussed or a chair needing straightened And didn't need a prompt. Her quick action ensured table turn times were super Low. Please recognize her hard work. She's making everyone money!!! We stopped by to show her our appreciation on our way out and she lit up . Two big meals. Beer and wine and I was embarrassed how small our bill was. What a great bargain and great find. We booked the same hotel for our April trip so we can come back here!! See ya soon Gypsy!!

The food is exceptional and has surpassed any expectation regarding cuisine we've experienced in many different restaurants. Regarding staffing, no words can express the sincere professionalism, courtesy, kindness, friendliness, warmth that is received with each and every visit. Namely Danny (irreplaceable), Mark (irreplaceable), Donna (irreplaceable) Melvin (irreplaceable), "Field" (irreplaceable), Jamie (irreplaceable), Olivia (irreplaceable). If we have forgotten anyone, please forgive us but I am POSITIVE they too add a sense of class and elegance to this fine establishment. Our only concern and disappointment is the newly appointed manager by the name of "Lance" who by our personal observation does NOT relate well with the staff and communicates with them in a disrespectful and abrasive manner. He exhibits mannerisms more suitable for a fast-food establishment. In our opinion he is definitely NOT qualified as Clark's material. We considered never re-visiting Clark s restaurant until he was no longer on staff, however staff insisted we return and not let his temperament dampen our experience. For those who frequent Clark's, please continue to patronize this great establishment and enjoy the unique FEEL and AMBIANCE that makes Clark's the beautiful place that it is.....
