This review is long overdue. I went to Bolay back in December as part of a Yelp Elite Perk Event. Boy did this deliver! I had somewhat of an idea of what I was in for given the event description (and I'm also familiar with other "Make-Your-Own-Bowl" counter service establishments) but I was astounded by the level of customer service I received. From the moment I walked in to the moment I left, we were treated so kindly by the staff and the manager on duty, it was truly a breath of fresh air. I wish other restaurants with wait staff were as nice as these guys were. They had outdoor seating and indoor seating and both were equally available when we arrived, but we went with doing takeout as that is what the event guidelines called for. I'm still not quite there yet to want to go and dine in at a restaurant so I'm thankful they had the option to do takeout which was quick and efficient! Upon entering they have this large LED screen which alternates between highlighting menu items and speciality bowls or "BOLS" as they call them. At first I thought how ingenious it was to see the selection of food items displayed electronically, but then the changing of the pictures made me want to see a paper menu as I am one to really read all of the ingredients in a dish so the changing of pictures was a bit distracting at first but as I approached the counter, I inquired about a paper menu and they did indeed have one:) I'm all for recycling and going green but I just really wanted to know what was in each dish. Lo and behold, as I got closer to the counter, I noticed they had additional LED screens located above the counter that didn't change the images on the screen so I was able to end up seeing all of the menu items after all. I had to silence the critic in me for a moment and remind myself not to jump to conclusions right away ^_^ The girl behind the counter who greeted us (Alexandria if I'm not mistaken) walked us through everything. I went with 2 other people and she was kind enough to repeat the procedures several times so they would understand. Everything behind the glass looked so fresh and so delicious. They keep the food in stainless steel wok bowls and bins (which are kept hot obviously) with labels in front of each. You get to pick a protein or double protein if you'd like and then you pile on the add ons. I am a big Teriyaki fan so I went with the Teriyaki bowl. What's nice about this place is that they have pescatarian and vegetarian options as well. I tried their shrimp and boy was it spicy. I underestimated it's spiciness. Alexandria let us try a little bit of whatever we were curious about which again was so sweet! There was another gentleman behind the counter with her who was also very accommodating. I didn't get his name but he did a great job as well preparing our bowls. He was responsible for the second station with the toppings. I saved the best for last-Management. Christian greeted myself and the other 2 in my party personally and took the time again to explain the Bolay concept and expressed his appreciation for us coming to visit. He rung the order up and made sure that everything was prepared to our liking. When I asked for extra sauce on the side, he made sure that they made it fresh on the spot. I couldn't believe it! I had never been to a counter service place before that did that. They went above and beyond! As for the food, it didn't disappoint either. Super fresh tasting. You can tell they use high quality ingredients. Like Christian said, they make everything fresh on the premises every morning. I will say that the portions are pretty generous so if you are a light eater go with a small bowl. I went with a Teriyaki bowl but next time I would probably do the shrimp because the marinade is jam packed with flavor. The Teriyaki was good but I think the Shrimp would be even better! I definitely recommend Bolay if you are ever in the Pinecrest neighborhood. The service, the food, the ambiance are all five star. I should also mention they were quite diligent about Covid. It's great to finally have more healthy choices around the neighborhood. I've had Bolay in Pembroke Pines and in Miami Lakes. It's great now that they have it in the Dadeland/Palmetto Bay Area close y home. I usually have the custom large bowl with the lemon Chicken and either shrimp or steak for my proteins with a base of the cilantro noodles and the kale salad to go along with the mushrooms and broccoli for the veggies. Absolutely delicious and light. Doesn't make my stomach bloated nor full after eating. read more

This is the second time ordering food from Bolay. We ordered the Asian Inspired Family meal. It's supposed to feed 4-5 people but it only served 3 and it didn't come with any sauce, inly fresh cilantro. The last time we ordered two large bowls, had a greater variety and more food. After much anticipation, I was finally able to see what is all the hype about Bolay! I was warmly greeted by Christian. He then took care of showing me the food assembly and telling me that everything is fresh and never frozen. I was happy to see kale slaw as the base since it's not common in other bowl style businesses. I'm a huge fan of avocado so I had to get it. The pineapple ginger drink and gluten free chocolate chip cookie were included as well. I chose the small bowl and it's very filling. The cookie hit the spot! It tasted better than my homemade cookies haha! I will definitely be back for more! I'm tempted to try the spicy shrimp and noodles. read more

first time eating at bolay and I absolutely loved it! Their menu is unique when comparing to other restaurants with the same build your bowl concept. I had the kale and cilantro noodles as a base, with mushrooms, brussels sprouts, shrimp and teriyaki chicken. The food tastes so clean and fresh, but also full of flavor. We need more places like this to eat. The food is made fresh in small batches and plenty of variety. The smell of food makes your mouth water as you walk through the doors. There's options for everyone to eat here. They even have vegan options too...gotta love it! You get to build your own "bol" sizes are kids, small and large. You pick your base, veggies and proteins. I've been back a couple times since I first tried it. For the base, I've had the Cilantro noodles (served cold) and the Asian sweet potato noodles (served warm) both are light and subtle in flavor. All the veggies are delicious so not matter what you pick you cant go wrong. For proteins - the Spicy Thai Shrimp and the Tofu both are cooked perfectly and full of flavor. Their gluten free cookies are soooooo good that I have to get one or two every time I stop in. Love theirs drink options they have regular and specialty sodas like pineapple cream soda and three different teas. Bolay is absolutely delicious! Stop what you are doing and order a bowl! I chose the sweet potato noodles with broccoli, mushrooms, steak and shrimp. There was an explosion of flavor in every bite. How have I never had sweet potato noodles before??!? I have truly been missing out. The establishment was so clean and the staff was extremely helpful. I know lunch for those working in an office has to be a quick pick up. When I ordered online, the website said it was going to be ready by 12. I showed up and by the time I got my food, it was 12:30. I was frustrated but as someone who has worked in the industry, many things can happen behind closed doors that customers don't understand. The manager told me he was under staff as some employees didn't show up which is completely understandable. He was kind enough to give me a couple gift cards for the inconvenience. As for the location, it has enough parking and you can actually get the lunch pretty quick if you don't order online. My coworker and I were awe by the variety they had. The flavor was explosive and unique. I pretty much told the whole office how great the food is and by the looks of it, many of us will be ordering.
