I drove an hour to this store in the hopes of finding a dress for a wedding. I had called ahead of time and spoke to them over the phone this early afternoon to confirm if the location is open and the person working/owner there picked up and said that the store is open until 6:00 pm. To my surprise, I found the store with no one there and a sign saying they have a doctor's appointment while the store was still open with the lights on and the open sign glowing. By this time, I had called their number multiple times with each call gone to voicemail and had been waiting almost an hour thinking they may appear soon. When they finally appear out of no where after an hour, there was nothing worth the reviews for plus size dresses. Only one style of dress that looked out of fashion to be honest. There are several different styles, and I ended up doing my own mix and match set of a blouse, skirt, and scarf, instead of one of the pre-made sets. She is very patient (I came by twice before finally buying!). They also have someone that does alterations so if anything is a little too big or too small. And the alterations are quick too. I went to Bollywood styles the day before a Sikh wedding. The owner helped me pick out the perfect gagra choli (skirt and blouse) and shalwar kameez for the formal reception and gurdwara. Both came with a dupatta. The owner also helped me with understanding how to put the pieces together on the day of and helped me with accessories. I got so many compliments on both outfits. If you are looking for a sari or any traditional Indian fashion Bollywood Styles has it! The sarees are priced to suit anyones budget - from very economical (25.00) to sky is the limit depending on how fancy you want to go. There was a big selection of colors and styles to choose from and the women working there was very happy, helpful and honest. She offered to put on any saree that was bought from her, so she had several women coming back to have her help them put it on. Bollywood Styles is small, but has a wide variety of quality clothing at very reasonable prices (with actual price tags, unlike some other places that I suspect vary their rates after eyeballing the customer). Owner Sneh Prasad was incredibly friendly and helpful, and took good care of me even though I wasn't buying high-ticket items. The store is clean and the shopping experience pleasant, surrounded by glorious multi-colored saris. I came in to the store by myself a few weeks ago looking for an outfit for a friend's party in January with no idea what to look for since I am not Indian nor am I very familiar with their customs. There was one lady there who I assume is the owner. I must have caught her on a bad day because she was very short with me and wasn't giving me any advice or listening to me and my needs. She wouldn't let me try on certain outfits because they were supposedly "too tight" but I insisted on trying them and they were actually very loose on me. Her comments came off as body shaming even though I am a very petite woman! She also claimed to not have anything in my size except for some $400 pieces (how convenient)! I also wanted to look at some jewelry but she said "only after" I buy my outfit. She seemed very annoyed by my presence so I decided to go to Artesia, which is where all the best stores are with employees who measure you, ask you what your budget is, and have a variety of options and sizes. In the Artesia store I went to, if something was too snug or too loose the employees told me they could make alterations for me whereas here the employee made no effort to be helpful. When I came home that day I recounted my bad experience to an acquaintance who lives in my building and she told me her cousin had gone in for an outfit at the same store and was overcharged. I am very disappointed to leave this review since the Yelp reviews were so great. This store's location is so close to my home so I really wanted to find something to wear to my friend's party but the drive out to Artesia was worth it in the end. read more
