It saddens me to give this type of review, but I have to be honest. The first time here the food was good and the woman who took my order was warm, informative and welcoming. (Reason for my 3 stars) I actually anticipated eating there again due to my initial visit and was excited to see them open on my way home. However, this visit was total opposite. I was the only customer and the young man's attitude was Very UNwelcoming, as if he were frustrated someone had entered. I thought twice about leaving and not placing an order, but I kept thinking of my first visit and wanted to patronize the restaurant. My gut instinct was correct. He reheated the barbeque, it was tough and very dry (couldn't consume). His attitude was so lackluster and disappointing, I decided to call dinner a loss this time because there is no way I would trust him to correct the issue. If I ever stop there again and he's serving; it's a BIG No for me. So thankful he wasn't my first impression of Ranell's. To that individual...Please keep in mind that you are the face of that owner's business and when it's in your hands, you are representing Ranell's brand. The way you treat customers can make or break the establishment and you never know who you're serving or why they are there. Something to ponder. read more

We ordered from GrubHub. The food was fresh and tasted descent but some of the items were kind of rubbery in the sense that they may have been baked a little too long. I tried the bbq polish, potato salad, cheeseburger, fries and spaghetti. The spaghetti I think some will like and some won't. As someone who adds a little sugar to their home cooked spaghetti, I found this one to be a bit too sweet. I really liked the potato salad, it was creamy, enough sweetness and fresh. The side items were well portioned. I appreciate that they read the comments in the order and called us when they didn't have the particular drink we requested. I have been here before on lunch and then picked up dinner for my self and my husband. What I remembered most were the sides. Greens Mac and cheese, and sweet potatoes like mom used to make. We had a Thanksgiving pot luck at work and I didn't have time make anything. So I called last minute praying they could help. She was polite on the phone and assured me it would be ready in21/2 hours. When I got there the Mac and cheese was hot from the oven. Well prepared and packaged for catering. I could smell the baked cheese. It was a hit at the office party. The first dish to disappear. This will be my go to for Mac and cheese. They have other delicious foods as well. read more

Consistently good food . It's fresh and hot each time I've had pick up and delivery and it's always packaged with care . Service is a bit low on Sundays but this isn't fast food so I'm always ok with the wait. The ordering is easy and they are always polite . The deserts are never great but I'm usually too full for desert anyway . I usually get wings or catfish with greens and yams . I've yet to try the barbecue but I've heard it's good My go to for home cooked soul food read more

Customer service is everything. If the staff could care less that you are the only customer in the business purchasing their food, then there is a problem. They should clean up the area with what appears to be dirty dishes stacked and clean up their hospitality. Our first and last time going there. I had the rib tip dinner. The tips had good, smoky flavor and the sauce was good. The downside is that the portion is small for $10.95, just seven small (1" x 1", maybe 1.5") tips. The sides we're also small, maybe 2 oz. I also ordered bothTuesday special dinners for carryout (for someone else) @ only $4.99/ea which was a good value for the price. The chicken wingsoecial had six drumettes, Mac n cheese, green beans and a roll. The turkey wing special had a nice sized wing, green beans, roll and dressing. I pinched a taste of the dressing; really good flavor. Only complaint with the turkey meal is the lack of gravy. So, some areas for improvement but I will definitely return. read more

Really love the fresh cook Cat fish, Mac is off the chain and smothered pork chops so much flavor and tender. The greens are good also and a lot of people don't use the correct seasons in there greens i come to find out. But i will say i eat there a lot and yes a very nice place to set and chill and u want be bothered meaning comfortable spot to sit and be free . They do an amazing job with all their food. The wings fall of the bone and are grilled perfection. The Mac n' cheese is to die for. The sweet potatoes are just the right amount amount of brown sugary sweetness. If you are near Sluh, Lafayette Square, or Tower Grove, you should stop in and support this local gem. read more

Great spot! I stopped in for lunch and was happy to find some great homestyle food. I had the chicken quesadilla, which was awesome! The french fries were hot and delicious. I look forward to trying more things on their menu. My only complaint is that the ventilation system must not work too well and my clothes smelled greasy and fried when I went back to work.
