I recently had lunch at the Bread and Bean Eatery. Cute place, great atmosphere, no problem with the service. The food is consistently good, however, on this visit I have to admit being a bit disappointed. I ordered a chicken salad sandwich. It is served with your choice of roll and chips. When it arrived at my table, it was mushy chicken salad (no chunks of chicken), on a pale but edible roll, and chips. No color on the plate, all white, fairly unappetizing. No lettuce or tomato on the bun. A table mate had soup and half a chicken salad sandwich. Her sandwich looked wonderful - including lettuce and tomato. The sandwich did not taste bad but I don't think I'd order it again. read more

Was at Sheboygan falls festivities with my 4 yrs old granddaughter. Stop at this luncheon, I wanted to try something new. We stopped at brean bean butter. They had 2 things on the kids menu, one was grilled cheese. I told the lady will have two of the grilled cheese. First thing out the lady's mouth was, 'we have adult: grilled cheese sandwich s on the menu. I said no thank you, I just want something small. Add fries and a hot coco too. Because that's what my granddaughter wanted, it was our girls day out. I get the food. Get the receipt and it's $23.00+ for child size grilled cheese. Nothing special but two slices of bread a slice cheese in the middle. Fries I could count on two hand how many we got. And hot coco, they must of poured a single pack of basically sugar in a tiny cup. She was upset I didn't want the adult size and gave me a smirk. The sandwich was $5.50. with chips but I asked for fries So, $13 for less than what mc Donald's gives you with there small fries and a tiny cup of sugar water. (FOR $13?) This was a terrible experience. And I got ripped off, for bread, cheese, potatoes and water. Very disappointed. This bread, beans, and butter seriously needs a up grade of menu and people skills. Maybe make some REAL Hot Coco with real chocolate and marshmallows or whip cream. Not a place you would expect in a quient place in a small town. Very sad. Best place in the area for lunch! The Bread and Bean is a hidden gem in Sheboygan Falls. I was introduced to the restaurant because my roommate and friends are raving fans of it and now I am too. Everything on their menu is delicious, some of my favorites are the BBQ BLT sandwich and the Buffalo Chicken Wrap. We decided to B'n B it today as we were looking for a spot to have a nice "catch up" lunch. We were greeted immediately. We were given a table and menus and were told to order at the counter when we were ready. The food came out very quickly, and it was delicious. The fries were especially tasty, having a nice crispy shell. The wrap we ordered, The Buffalo Chicken, was "exceptional," quoting my companion. The place has a nice small town feel to it, but the food beats out the "highly acclaimed" competitors nearby. It's a nice spot on the bustling streets of downtown Sheboygan Falls. Cute on the outside, cute on the inside. I had the Baja Veggie Wrap, he had a chicken panini. My wrap had an over bearing taste of cheese gone bad. His panini was the smallest I have ever seen. I don't think they could have cut the one slice of chicken breast much thinner! He thought the flavor was good, though. Service was bringing the food and water to your table. That's it. My husband and I came to this restaurant on the suggestion from one of my co-workers. We had expected everything to be made from scratch, but we were sorely disappointed. I ordered the Pittsburgh Chicken dish while my husband ordered an Italian sausage pizza. Both meals came with soup or salad. We chose the salads with ranch dressing on the side. The salad was simple and fresh, but the dressing was AWFUL! I told the head waitress that I wanted a dressing that was homemade. She stated that the ranch dressing was "fat free" OMG.... seriously? Fat free ranch? No wonder I couldn't eat it! She then went on to bring us their " house" dressing which was some sort of tomato/basil vinegarette. Once again it tasted terrible. I KNOW that this was far free too, but didn't have the heart to complain again. I opted for olive oil & Parmesan to top my salad which was enormously better than their dressings! Our entrees arrived. My husbands pizza was was tasty but didn't appear that the crust was homemade. I'm sure it was a pre-prepared thin crust with tons of holes poked throughout. My chicken dish was quite disappointing. What I thought was going to be chicken covered in Panko and gently sautéed in butter over a bed of herbed pasta Alfredo, what I received was a Panko covered chicken breast that was deep fried. Ugh. All in all, I wouldn't spend the money on what I could have easily prepared at home with fresh ingredients and homemade dressings to boot! read more

We were impressed the first two times we had dinner here. Excellent food and good service. Unfortunately, the lunch experience was most unpleasant. At lunchtime, customers order food before being seated. The woman taking orders, a brunette in a "Bread and Bean" t-shirt, was brusque and unfriendly. We didn't realize that we had to take our own silverware before sitting down. When we asked for a setup, the same woman dropped it in the middle of the table without a word. We both found the service charmless bordering on rude. In Sheboygan County, with plenty of good dining options, you better be friendly to survive. Or at least fake it. I've stopped in for a couple lunches recently, and everything I have gotten was good. I got the BBQ sandwich the first time and a wrap the 2nd. The wrap was so big I took half home. They had a pasta salad side that is definitely the way to go with any sandwich. The regular menu might be on the high end of reasonably priced for an everyday place, but they seem to have a special every day. I will mention that I went past just after 2PM the other day for a late lunch, and they were not open. Not too big of a deal, but lunch all-the-way-to dinner hours would be cool. I love the Captain's salad tossed with peppercorn dressing! I found the broccoli cheese soup to be pretty weird. Lumps of fresh mozzarella in a too-thick cream base. Broccoli was almost unnoticeable. It was a pleasant walk there and we were seated immediately. It was hard to choose a meal, there were so many intriguing items on the menu! The staff was friendly, attentive, and the food was served quickly. I had the Pittsburgh pretzel-crusted chicken, which was absolutely perfect. The crust was crispy, but not greasy. The chicken was moist and delicious. My husband chose a steak sandwich. Perfectly cooked and served on a crusty, fresh roll.
