I stopped in after seeing the positive reviews and wanting to grab something on the healthier side. This is a small family owned spot and I could tell many of the customers were regulars. The menu is half Indian inspired dishes, and half Greek. I had the hummus appetizer to start. This had to be some of the absolute best homemade hummus I've ever come across. There was a hint of lemon that made it so fresh and tasty. The pita was freshly toasted and I couldn't put it down. I also had the large Greek salad with salmon. This came in at a meager $12. Which is an insane steal for the amount and quality of food. All of the pricing was very generous. The salad was delicious and had tons of Feta on it. I go here too often, they know me now. I always get vegetable Rogen Josh. I always get spice 0 as I can't do any heat my boyfriend likes 10 so it's nice that any entrée can be adjusted by your spice preferrence. You can also adjust the heat of some of the Greek entrées too. When you dine in the Indian food is served in adorable metal buckets. Sadly the take out is all in Styrofoam and plastic so I prefer dining in. Even the take out drinks are in Styrofoam cups. read more

The food was great. I got a Gyro. My wife got Butter Chicken. I kinda preferred the Indian food, but I guess that makes sense since the owners/cooks are Indian. The appetizers of hummus and the cheesy sauce were great too. My daughter loved the lentil soup and the cook came out to check and make sure that it wasn't too spicy for her. We will absolutely be regulars here. My only critique is that there should be some music and better lighting. read more

This is our favorite spot in town. The hummus is amazing and served with warm pita. The gyros are always great (and a good price especially in the combo). It was probably if not, one of my favorite meals I ever had and it's really my first introduction to Indian food and absolutely love it and will 1000% be back. When Bombay closed a year ago, my heart was totally broken. Indian food is by far my favorite cuisine nowadays, and Bombay has always delivered. They are finally open again, and I introduced my family members to it through takeout tonight. My food was hot, fresh, and made with love! Not only are they affordable, but they have huge portions and a passion for good food. When I entered to pick up our takeout, the owner and his wife were cooking our food with love. Went here not long ago and boy was I disappointed. Service was still great but the gyro quality has suffered. The meat in my gyro seemed to be the same quality as the kind you can buy at the grocery store. Pre sliced paper thin slices, not the thick "cut off the spit" type. Some of the best Indian food I've had! We got the vegetable paneer and lamb korma. I'm used to having saag paneer which I think has a bit more substance and taste but the korma sauce was so delicious I scraped the bowl with the free naan that's included with all the meals! The service was great and the prices very decent. We also got the apple pie dessert. It had a salted caramel bottom and was delicious as well. We went back for Greek, however it was a bit of a let down. I got the gyro with lamb. I've had better. It was cold meat and really salty. The lamb kabob platter was much better though! This is definitely not the same owner as before. It's very disappointing. The saganaki (flaming cheese) was just okay and the chicken pakora was lacking flavor and not the same as before. The restaurant isn't very clean either. The owners have their children lounging in booths with no shoes on watching videos. If the rest of the food is good, maybe I'll come back for take out. Although the sauces are good, Calamari was just the cut rings nothing special. The salad and gyro filling is pre shredded and all other ingredients diced very small. My coworkers and I have been hitting this spot for lunch because of their gyro lunch special - a huge gyro, fries and a drink for $7 or how about a gyro for $4.99.? Gyros consist of lamb or chicken and the usual fixings and are always on point. The hummus is a pretty popular side note as well. The service is friendly, place is cozy and clean and you can carry out as well. I can't speak on the Indian cuisine but it sure seems popular as well. I'm a sucker for ambiance. Typically my reviews of restaurants have a nice 50-50 mix of atmosphere and cuisine commentary. A lame room, bad music or overly bright lighting can ruin my experience entirely. And yet... a completely unassuming strip mall restaurant with overhead fluorescent lighting and plastic combination signage/condiment holders on the tables has won my heart over. A bizarre combination of Indian restaurant and gyro joint, Bombay Garden and Greek Eats came to be when two separate restaurant owners decided to make their dreams possible by combining resources and sharing a kitchen and dining room. The menu includes Indian on one side and Greek food on the other. The Indian selection is a little more extensive and varied, while the Greek side focuses largely on the gyros. Myself, I stick to the Indian food here. I had the Chicken Raganjosh the first time I dined here and can't stop ordering it when I return (I don't make it out to Mt. Vernon very often, but make it a point to stop here when I do). I've also tasted the byrianis and the chana masala and was pleased with both. Don't expect much in the way of decorum, but the dishes are highly flavorful (and colorful), and the service is warm and attentive and often provided by the husband and wife owners. Last time, J and I split a mango lassi (a thick, sweet, smoothie-type drink) to start off with, and it was so rich and satisfying that I only made it through half of my entree (it should be noted that portions are generous and the prices are quite reasonable). Possibly we should've made that dessert. In summary - so what if the lighting's not romantic and the decor consists of two (TWO!) light-up scenic wall-hangings? (We're still debating whether the sparkly Taj Mahal beats out the glowing waterfall...) The food is authentic and exotic, and it often feels like you're being served dinner in an Indian family's home (you practically are). Moreover this is all taking place in the most big-box part of one of the most generic Midwestern towns in Ohio. Not only am I a sucker for irony, but I'm all about supporting a family-run restaurant serving fantastic food. I have given this place three chances and it is definitely OUT! The first two times I visited, I was told that I would be charged 4.95 to substitute the cheese and tzaziki sauce for a schmear of hummus on my sandwich. After protracted argument, an agreement was reached, but I decided it was not worth the effort. I also ordered some of the Indian food and was shocked to find that the baingan bartha contained cream! I have eaten a LOT of Indian food and this was the first time I had seen cream in this dish. The bread that came with the Indian food was obviously grilled on the same grill with meat and had little pieces of animal stuck to it, which made it inedible to me. Cross contamination is disgusting. And the Indian food was not good anyway. Visit #3: After a very long absence, I decided to try this place again. I ordered the falaffel pita sandwich with fries. I noticed that the falaffel cost $2 more than any of the meat options, including lamb. When I asked about it, a guy who is presumably the owner, informed me that that was because the falaffel must be made with green chickpeas that can only be found in Canada. He then proceeded to tell me about how most people use cooked chickpeas to make their falaffel and it turns out mushy, like hummus. I replied, "So, you make the falaffel in house?" "No," he said. "We buy the [frozen] patties." I have never heard such a ridiculous explanation! I have never had a problem with mushy, hummus-like falaffel anywhere. And to act as if the frozen patties from Canada were some kind of exclusive item was really over the top. It made me question whether this guys knows anything at all about this type of food. Still, I went ahead and ordered just to see whether I would get some fabulous high-quality falaffel. After tasting them, my true expectations were realized-- the falaffel were among the worst I have tasted. They had little flavor and were very bready. Nothing at all like REAL falaffel. Furthermore, they were clearly microwaved and not fried, which enhanced the bready, chewy texture. I again asked for hummus in place of the cheese and yogurt sauce that usually comes on the sandwich. No problem was indicated. Unfortunately, the hummus was clearly a store-bought low quality version. Not fresh and not at all good. The sandwich itself was pretty large, but difficult to eat, due to the fact that is was cut in half, leaving no way to hold it together once the foil wrap (which left pieces of metal in the food) was peeled away. When the bill came, there was an additional $2 charge on there for the hummus schmear. When I inquired about this, the waiter became very nervous acting, trying to explain that there was no extra charge. When I insisted that there was, she claimed she made a mistake and offered to refund the amount. All in all the verdict is: Low quality food, practices of nickle and dimeing customers, and unknowledgeable owner/staff. I will NOT go back this time. Were it not for the low expectations and lack of choices in Mt. Vernon, this place would most certainly not survive. read more
