We were famished after our hike at Harriman State Park and looking for a quick bite to eat on our way back. Yelp to the rescue and we found Bombay Hut on our way home. We stopped over to pick up the Chicken tikka roll (special of the day) and the Chicken kathi roll. For good measure we threw in the veggie special of the day which happened to be Gobhi-aaloo (Cauliflower and potatoes). The rolls were HUGE and came wrapped in a tortilla - unlike the traditional roti or paratha which was a little disappointing. One roll is big enough to share. Both were stuffed with boneless chicken and veggies like lettuce and onions. The chicken tikka was definitely the better of the two, fresher and better seasoned. I decided to abandon my thick tortilla and ate it like a salad bowl which tasted infinitely better. The cauliflower dish was really well done, but way too spicy for us...we opted for the medium spice level but it was still too much...go for mild to be on the safer side. For $12.00 the takeaway box is on the smaller side and comes with a portion of rice. We did think the portion was a bit small for the price... I would suggest omitting the rice and increasing the portion of the mains. Bombay Hut is a solid 3.5 stars for me...the food definitely tasted fresher than most Indian take outs and was oil free as well, which is a big deal. read more

The other reviews of this place are so right- while the dishes pack amazing flavor the curries are mostly sauce with a few sparse chunks of meat. I found the prices to be high for the portion sizes. But they delivered our food fast, and correct, and it was really tasty so we'll probably order again. We had garlic naan, saag paneer (not on the menu but they have saag and paneer for other dishes so they figured it out) lamb curry, and chicken tikka. It came with some really yummy, fluffy, long grain rice. They let us choose the spice level (mild, medium, and spicy) so we got one of each and I was glad we got two sides of raita with it!! read more

I'm going to start off by saying that the food is decent, maybe 2-3 star worthy. This restaurants flaw is the horrible portion sizes for the money you spend. I've been here twice and was disappointed both times with the portions. The first time I went I ordered off the lunch menu, I figured that the portion this tiny must be because it's for lunch. Fair enough. About two weeks later I went back and ordered off the dinner menu. I ordered the classics, chicken tikka masala and chicken tandoori skewers. The tikka masala came in a Chinese soup container that was 95% sauce. I counted 5 bite sized pieces of chicken swimming in a pool of sauce. A huge let down. The skewers were dry and bland. Also, they were not skewers... As the name implies the food would be on a skewer. These were small chicken sausage like things that were disappointing. I won't be back, it cost 26 dollars for two small entrees that left me and my mother both disappointed. Never again. Spend your hard earned money at Nirvana in Allendale, the food is better, and much more appropriately priced for the product you receive, both in quality and quantity. read more

I've been to the majority of Indian restaurants in Bergen county. Bombay Hut - has taken the best of the Americanized Indiand items incorporated the regular Indian dishes to make a amazing combination for Northern Bergen County. Chicken & Lamb were cooked to perfection. All food between the 7 dishes we had were flavorful! Only thing is they definitely need work on the "white sauce" but they are still new and I am sure they will improve on that. read more

Very impressive! I am a huge fan of Indian food and while the menu is far from traditional the Chicken Tikka Masala is banging! I asked for it to be made spicy and it actually was which always surprises me as most places dumb everything down when it comes to spice. The Garlic naan and the rice were great also. Been coming here on & off since they'd opened. We love their Tikka Masala, Butter Chicken & Naan. Though their food are still delicious but they have been cutting back on the pieces of the chicken and raised the prices too. Chicken are inexpensive for the restaurants to obtain! The place is only for take outs only no eat in. Will be coming here way even more less now that they are cutting back on the pieces of chickens. Shame! read more

So happy that this place opened. The chicken over rice was amazing. Compared to it is NYC counterpart, this dish was light & flavorful. I give Bombay Hut an A+! A few of my coworkers and I decided to order Indian today. We wanted to try somewhere new that delivers and I noticed all the great reviews Bombay Hut has and decided to give it a shot. They have a decent menu, not a huge selection but I think that that's a good thing, it's not overwhelming. They have some traditional dishes and also have "nyc style" meat and rice dishes as well as falafel. I called to place my order and a very friendly girl answered and promptly took my order. I had 6 different orders and asked for prices for each one. She was excellent, asked for all the details, i.e. how spicy we wanted it and called me back with all the prices right away. The food came in the promised time and it was the friendly girl who answered the phone who delivered as well! It was awesome that the meals were packaged in separate bags with receipts for each person's order so there was no confusion trying to figure out who got what. Ok so service was awesome and now on to the food. I ordered a samosa which came with tamarind chutney and cilantro chutney, it was delicious and a meal within itself plus a great price! I also ordered the roti with chicken vindaloo which came with white rice. I ordered medium spice and I think for me it was perfect. The dish itself was well seasoned, tasty, perfect size and a good price especially when you compare to some of the other Indian places in the area. My coworkers all had great things to say about their meals as well. I cannot say enough good things about Bombay Hut! I definitely recommend giving it a try. The Garlic Naan was fantastic and you get a lot of bread. The chicken over the Indian rice was delicious! I like how the lettuce over the top of the rice blends in with the sauce. I cannot wait to go back and try other things there! Update: I have been there three times now. the Chicken Tikka Masala is DELICIOUS! The sauce is spicy and a little sweet. I wish I had read some of the reviews before we stopped here on our way home to brooklyn. We looked at the menu on door dash where there was no mention of the fact that the Kati roll is made with a unevenly cooked whole wheat wrap. The filling on the inside also wasn't close to what you would usually get in a kathi roll. The biryani and lamb sheek kabab were decent nothing great. I called and talked to the owner regarding the highly disappointing kathi roll and all she did was keep stressing on how it's mentioned on their website that the kathi roll is made with a whole wheat wrap. Guess what lady! That's not a kathi roll! Just call it a chicken roll then. The owner needs to do a better job with the menu and food. Like other reviewers have mentioned I would skip this place. I had called to get a refund on the kathi rolls but after talking to the owner realized that she isn't one to reason with. read more

I was so excited to see a highly rated restaurant with Indian food near by, but was a tad disappointed. The food was decent, but the portions were small. I don't claim to be an expert on Indian food, but the flavors were not quite what I expected. The samosas are quite huge and the filling is good, especially with the brown chutney, but the samosa pastry itself is too thick. Again, it was decent and I could see this as a quick take out lunch option, but I don't think I will be ordering again for dinner. read more

The owner is a sweet heart. She doesn't know me because I don't ever physically go there. But the one time I did she knew her regular customers by name and let such a great calm aura about her even though I could tell they were slammed. The food is AMAZING. I never really was introduced to ethnic foods as a child so branching out into something new was fascinating and after trying Bombay Hut I fell in love with Indian food. However I have traveled to other Indian spots and NOTHING compares to this place. It's SO GOOD. Garlic cheese Naan. Tandoori everything. NY style chicken over rice. Falafel. Just basing this review off the chicken/ lamb over rice halal style. I work in the NYC and I get the halal guys a decent amount but this is better than the carts. The fusion with an Indian mix to it is phenomenal and something I never had before. I live down the street from Bombay and it is my favorite take out spot in the area and my go to for sure. Halal style dishes is around $10 but they are more than generous with their portions. I will eventually try something else but I never get sick of the chicken and lamb over rice extra spicy. read more

Typically take out place, very well kept with open kitchen concept. Food is exceptionally fresh and flavorful. Giant Vegetable Samosas were awesome. We also ordered chicken tikka masala, lamb vindaloo, paneer tikka, yellow daal and assorted tandoori breads....I must admit pony tail chef Vincy and his team did a splendid job in every department. For desserts Rasmalai and home made Rice Pudding were fairly generous portions and well balanced. I would recommend them for good food and will consider them for catering. I saw the good reviews for this place and was excited to finally find a place closer than jersey City for good Indian food. Unfortunately it didn't live up to the hype. The food (chicken curry) wasn't bad but it wasn't great, I would say average at best. Plus it was a lunch order which was supposed to come w rice and a side salad. I received a small portion of chicken curry, a larger portion of rice and an even larger portion of salad. In other words it was mostly salad. Their salad is just lettuce and onion, no dressing or anything for flavour. On a positive note the two people working at the front were very friendly.
