I decided to try a new bakery with Mom on Wednesday May 2nd and chose this one in St Clair Shores on Greater Mack near 9 1/2 Mile Rd. This Bakery has been in business since 1925. The parking lot is very small. I noticed some people were parking on the side street and walking over. Since we arrived at 12:30 it was the lunch crowd of customer such as contractors, construction workers, nurses on their lunch hour coming and going parking near and far to grab lunch items. Perfect timing for us to walk in grab a number ticket and only wait 5 minutes to shop. This Italian bakery was filling up with many customers. Their pizza's are round or Square and pre-made ahead and keeping hot under warming lights. I also saw sub sandwiches ready to grab and go. When you walk in they have beer, wine champagne to the right a very small area. This busy and well known Bakery is for regular people, daily people or weekend people that have their favorite items to buy. We chose a number and there were 3 customers ahead of us so that gave us time to shop and look around. Mom and I decided on a loaf of Italian white bread that was on sale Wednesday for 1.99. I have Attached my pictures of different small coffee cakes, danish, large coffee cakes, Donuts, cookies by the pound and bread sticks by the pound. Many breads, many dinner rolls, Kaiser rolls with seeds without seeds. Since I introduce myself and my mom by our name and that we were first time customers, I was told that the bread and rolls and other pastries are baked fresh daily at 4 a.m. I counted 6 different pizzas hot and ready to go or Subs already made up to Grab & Go with a pop and beer section of refrigerated beverages. They also have a sign that says they take special orders for wedding, birthday and anniversary cakes or desserts for special parties. Since it was a time for * lunch crowd* rush, I only saw 2 ladies working at the counter. They certainly could use some extra help to get customers in and out fast since when you're on your lunch hour time is of the essence. The lady that helped us out was Cindy. She was very patient with my mom and explain the different flavors of the cookies. My mom chose butter cookies with a cherry on top and also butter-flavored almond cookies. My mom wanted to try a biscotti cookie to dip in her coffee so Cindy sold it to her half price. Thank you Cindy. Maybe next time we stop back in this Bakery we'll try a slice of pizza or sub for a lunch item. Then I can give this Bakery 5 stars. There was advertisement printed on my plastic bag from the FRESH bread I bought. It says they have non-alcoholic beer and wine they also do deliveries, they have 32 varieties of Italian and American Cookies. They are famous for their wedding cakes, cookie trays for parties. Easily one of the best bakeries around. The Italian subs and muffulettas are amazing. Would come here for a sub over Subway, Jimmy John's, Jersey Mike's, etc. The pastries are always delicious, as is the lemon ice. The cuccidatis are my favorite. They are also known for their pizzas and their wide selection of wine. If you're in the area, this is a must. read more

Great local place. The only issue is when they get busy you might be waiting 45 min. I would suggest looking at Wally's frozen custard as a different service model. One person takes the order, and rings it up while while 5 other people work to get your order together. Currently one person takes your order, assembles most of it, and then rings you up. Some times it takes a while especially when the customer keeps adding things, which is not Bommarito's fault. Even with that it's still worth the wait, and I think you can order online as an option. read more

I come here for the cheap delicious pizza slices, the fantastic fresh donuts. The bread is good but only until end of day. The cannoli are made of cream with chocolate bits and almonds. The subs are the attraction. It's so good. Order inkine and pick up from side door if you can. There is still always a long line. Also they make the cuccidata all year here. read more

Delicious Italian subs! I really like their sfinguni Sicilian pizza *chef's kiss*! If you're a fan of meatball subs, you have to try theirs. Muffulettas is another favorite. Parking is tight, but there's one hour parking on the side street, and you could order online and pick up. They used to have 3 pizzas for $12, but that has gone up to 18.99, understandable, they are pretty good pizzas. read more

I know, I know - the bakery cases of sweet breads with their come hither glazes.. the pizzas with primo toppings sitting under the warmer.. the muffaletta sitting front and center near the register, rightfully perched oh-so-prettily on a pedestal. It's a lot to take in. But the freezer section. Do not miss it. This is where the homemade sauce lives, and it's better than any restaurant or jar sauce you'll come across. Pair it with the little purses of four cheese perfection (also in the freezer section) and you'll have a truly fabulous meal. Also tried the baked ricotta, muffaletta, freshly baked bread and fresh sliced prosciutto. Unsurprisingly, all were great. But if Bommarito is the Birdcage, then the purses pasta + homemade sauce were Nathan Lane/Starina-level stars of the show. read more

I was driving by and saw a line at Bommarito's bakery. I had to stop by and see what it was all about. It's an authentic Italian Bakery. They serve subs, pizza, donuts, and a lot of different Italian style cookies. I tried the sub sandwhich that comes with sesame style long bread. It's a huge sandwich for $7.99. It fast delicious with really good mild peppers. I do wish the bread was softer. Next up, I purchased the chocolate eclair. It was amazing. Probably top 5 eclair I have ever eaten. Next I also purchased their cinnamon glazed fryer and large cinnamon roll. Both nice and soft and flaky. They were delicious. I highly recommend you make the drive to check them out. They also carry a lot of different wines and Michigan made branded products. read more

Saturday, March 2nd...6:15 pm. Bommarito's has been a family favorite for the last 23 years. Always tell people about the great food. The service....depends on who waits on you. Back to my 1 star review for service. I call last night to get an order for 2 pizzas. The lady who answered then says..."I'm sorry we stop taking pizza orders at 6:15 because we close at 7 pm and the pizza guy is done making them for the day." It's one thing to make the choice to close early or stop making something as a business owner, but don't look at the time and then tell me that I called at the same time they stopped taking orders. The counter folks were very friendly explaining all the different items they have. They did not rush us at all. Ordered 2 pizzas, Bacon and Pepperoni, and Sausage and Mushrooms. They took about 15 minutes to make and tasted delicious. The crust is super thin with a good amount of cheese and topppings. For $6 each, that's a steal. You can get 3 pizzas with one item for only $14 bucks. Wow! We ordered a dozen donuts, they give you 2 extra. $6.99 They have a lot of hard donuts which I'm not a fan off. The long ones with vanilla frosting were my favorite, the others were so so. Next on the list was rolls, they have four different kinds of rolls, hard, crusty, and either with sesame seeds or without. A dozen is $3.99, Lastly, we ordered two subs, Turkey and the Italian Sub-Buster, $5.79 and $6.99 respectively. The turkey had lots of meat, the Sub-Buster shockingly did not have that much meat, or cheese. Both rolls were too hard for my liking. The lettuce was just a few pieces, not shredded. I don't like it that way. I also did not care for the peppers on them. Needless to say, the subs were a bit of a disappointment. I would definitely go back for some of their soft donuts and pizzas. When you walk in this place, make sure you grab a number! I stood for about 5 minutes in what I thought was a line, only to find out I needed a number.. Thought there might have been a line to pick up food you've already ordered over the phone. If there was one, I didn't see it. The pizzas were good and very inexpensive. Unfortunately, they burned the edges pretty good on one of the pizzas. Fortunately, I do not eat the crust so it didn't bother me or my coworkers much. Overall taste and quality of the pizza was still good. Next time I travel up to the area, I will be trying the subs that everyone is raving about on here. Well, maybe a cannoli too.. We had a wedding this October and originally wanted the cannoli cake but wound up changing our order to getting cannolis and we needed 40. We decided to get them deconstructed since our wedding was on a Sunday and the bakery had changed their hours. Rose and her sisters were so amazing in helping us out! We received what we ordered and they gave us extra shells just in case we broke some. I even got some expert advice on how to fill them . We also got a party sub and the kids that work there did a great job helping load everything into the car. The cannolis were the hit of the wedding, everyone was asking where we got them, and thankfully we received some extras because they were gone within an hour. Definitely suggest getting them that way if you need them the next day and are traveling somewhere. It didn't take long to put them together and they were so fresh and NOT soggy as they would have been the next day. Thank you so much to everyone at Bommaritos!
