15 years ago this place is it open 24 hours you can go get anything you really liked at six for amazing the food was so hot and fresh move back into the area and give this place a try again it was a horrible experience but I said maybe it's just a bad day . Decided to give it another shot . Please save your money and go to Denny's. I got a simple steak and vegetables and baked potato and garlic bread . I mean how do you mess that up. Bonanza is like your abuelito's diner. It's got the wooden walls and the old fashioned tin ads up against a juke box playing Mariachi music. The service is great. On a Sunday after 10a there was no wait. There are some outdoor seats available as well as countertop. I had the chilaquiles based off a Yelp review and it was very good! This place is definitely not how it use to be. ( back in the day ) use to be a packed house early morning's. Went here to see if they still had good food. Not so much. The hassle I still have with this place and also the same excuse they give me " our card machine is not getting reception to accept your card " so a awkward stare down begins on what to do next. Besides their food becoming mediocre now. I was completely turned off the last and final time with a guests that was coming out of the bathroom to basically announce that the food was good and that he basically took a big ol shit. But it was total opposite coming with broccoli, zucchini & celery in it... not for a mexican burrito. Oysters were terrible, i had way better. Never going again read more

It's been a while since I've come here. The place is definitely a hole in the wall. But they used to have somewhat good food. Tonight I went in there and I got a carne asada burrito that were served with chips and salsa. I also got a diet Coke. The chips were either soggy and unchewable or totally burnt. I got about six good chips and that was about it of the basket and that was on my plate with my burrito. Don't know where to start with the burrito. They were whole beans on there with chopped up carne asada meat that really didn't have any flavor. I asked for green salsa on it but didn't taste really any. I ended up taking all the beans out and yes I pick them all out. Tried to eat the carne asada but just couldn't do it. The lady asked me if my meal was okay and I told her no I didn't know it had these whole beans in there and also the chips were unedible. She's smiling the whole time and acted like it was okay and it was a normal thing for their food not to taste good or be edible. She tried to tell me that that's normal the way their chips are because they're thick and thin so they don't cook right I told her I cannot eat any of this. I told her the best thing about the meal was the hot sauce. I was only being honest. She comes back and says I gave you a two dollar discount. Smh..... i came here years ago and they changed the indoor seating. there used to serve free salsa and chips when you sit down and order in, but now its a dollar(?) i loved ordering the birria soup but when i went today it had low seasoning, very watery, and even topping black pepper didn't make it better. it was okay, but maybe I'll try some other dish but it won't be long until i come back to try to redeem my thoughts on this business. service, on the other hand, was okay servers were nice and they checked on us every now and then. thanks!! read more

From being a child to an adult. Living here where locals stay 90810 west side of LBC I seen this place change over the years. First off I've been eating here since my youths days running up and biking down with friends and family. Let's jus say I still go here and it's 2017!!! Portions are plenty food is good open late night and early mornings. Good stop for any kind of cravings breakfast Mexican American dinner..also my kids are starting to enjoy this place. pretty overpriced for bland food. felt really taken advantage of as a customer for being charged $4 for a "non cash payment transaction fee" for using my credit card! There was no warning or mentioning of using a card would result in such a RIDICULOUSLY high fee!! I understand some places charge like a flat 50 cent credit card fee but this place shouldn't charge a penny with their already super high prices. PLEASE drive one block away & head to Casa Perez!! Was extremely disappointed tonight with the food from here. I ordered the chicken fried steak dinner. The few bites I did eat was absolutely horrible and gave me a stomach ache. The meat did not taste fresh. the sour cream was salty - never had salty sour cream. This was the only meal I ate today and it has my tummy aching. Other than not having our entire order (missing avocado and biscuit which we had to add to meet minimum) the quality of the food is terrible. We ordered shrimp, enchiladas, and a taco. If I could put zero stars I would but the waitress that served us was so helpful! We've herd so many good things about this place we finally decided to try it about 3 weeks ago. First let me start off with saying how my kids were disappointed about not having crayons to color with when given the kids menu, but the server was kind enough to at least offer my kids pens to substitute which was fine. We ordered, got our food and took the rest home that we didn't finish. The next day my husband decided to warm up his left overs to find a rusty old screw in his rice?!!???!!! We placed a delivery order and were pretty disappointed with the quality of food we got. The cheese in the chili riano wasn't even melted... enchiladas were basically melted cheese with a tortilla in there somewhere...Don't get me wrong, I like cheese...but I also prefer to be able to tell what I'm eating. The tamale was a similar sensation. Too much cheese with a hint of cornmeal and beef in there somewhere. The rice had potatoes in it which I thought was odd. Their "strawberries and whipped cream" was more like deflated cream and frozen smart and final tub-o-strawberries. Pretty gross. We didn't finish our meal...a trip to taco bell would have been a smarter choice. The fact that they have a 30 dollar minimum+delivery fee is pretty lame. At least the food was mostly warm. Open 24 hours on Friday and Saturday. Open late nights Sunday to Thursday till 11pm. I start this review this way because when I recently did a late night hour search, I ended up with a plethora of "I wish they had late night hours" and this is not helpful when doing a search. I couldn't remember ever seeing this place as I've traveled around so I figured this would be a good day since they are 24 hours on Friday. Not only did I need something other than my own cooking, I just needed to be out of the house. I don't know if the fried chicken dinner helped my writers block, but it wasn't bad. Strictly the restaurant manufactured fried chicken though. I'm hoping the sweetness I tasted in the batter wasn't chicken that had gone bad (insert nervous laugh here), but the baked potato really made my evening. The green beans were canned but this is a truck stop menu and fodder. I'm sure the Mexican food is the house special at Bonanza, yet I'm not a fan of Mexican food so I don't think I'll ever find out. I figure if I ever end up here on a late night spell, I'll try the breakfasts. These are not the best deal prices either but I think you are paying for the late night service more than the food. I did get a free serving of chips and salsa which was a nice way to start an evening with my laptop and the ice tea is real. They have a variety of choices and some come "a la carte" with one side dish or "complete" with choices of soup, salad, and the sides. I will definitely keep this place in mind when I have another night that I need to be out. Maybe I'll located the wifi in the area -- my iPod says there's wifi around here, but the "guest" account must belong to a local business that isn't listed on the wifi finders. I can not count how many times I have passed this diner in Long Beach and now I can say I have finally tried it. Food: I got their steak and eggs. It was okay. I always order my steak medium rare and usually it comes out fine. There were some parts of the steak where the meat was really easy to cut but there were times where I was fighting with my steak. My cousins ordered medium and they should of just ordered very very well done. Now I know that this isn't the fanciest place around, but i felt bad that cousins had to fight with their steak. Service: The place was pretty much empty and the server forgot to give us our toast that comes with the breakfast meal. However, she was very nice and checked up on us at least once. Perks: Bonanza is a 24 hour diner on the weekends which is really good for people who love their late night eats. I would probably go back here if my friends and I were looking for somewhere to eat late at night. read more

Not a four star place, I was mislead! I had the pancake combo. The pancakes were good but everything else just ok. Except the sausage links, they were actually gross. They tasted like burnt oil and they had no flavor. The staff was great though..very attentive. And apparently it's too complicated to put the toilet paper on the roll in the bathroom. read more

They've made a lot of changes since my last review. Nice new booths, new flatware, new menus with some new menu items. Good stuff all around, but the prices have gone up to reflect the nice new ambiance. Also small changes like the special dinners no longer come with soup AND salad, just soup or salad. Live close to this restaurant, in Wilmington, and eat in one of the local restaurants every morning. I use to come here occasionally because of the great variety on their menu. There must be new owners because this is the absolute worst breakfast that I have had in any of the local restaurants. Had a omelet and sent it back and decided to have a basic breakfast since I was already there. How can you get eggs, sausage, and toast, wrong. Well they managed. Burnt toast, hard sausage, coffee....hum, not sure how they did that, I guess the eggs were ok. Anyway, won't make this mistake again. Have been coming here since childhood since we live close to it. Since they remodeled & had a re-opening grand event last year, they no longer have their great specials they were known for. All they have is a whiteboard with written daily specials which do not seem very appetizing for the last 3 times I visited. I used to go for their pancake special. They no longer have the 2, 2 and 2 order. 2 pancakes, 2 eggs, 2 bacon or sausage. The new waitress even argued with me that they have never had that I said I had been ordering the same order for more that 20 years. She said no! I've been here 7 years & we don't have that. She made me second guess myself. I said I couldn't eat 3, 3, and 3 its too much. So I had no choice & ordered the pancake meal (3,3,3) & to my surprise, now the pancakes were super small & dry, they weren't those big delicious fluffy pancakes that I was used to. Super disappointed! This new management blew it. If they can't even serve decent pancakes you can imagine how their other food tastes (except for the menudo that's still up to par I hear). read more

A great family owned neighborhood diner! Was tempted to check out the Chicken Fried Steak and was pleasantly surprised to discover that this wasn't the typical store bought version. It was an actually piece of steak and not the ground up meat! Woo-hoo! In addition, it came with three eggs, choice of potatoes, and toast. Ordered the sourdough which some of the best I've had! Whenever we order from Bonanza we get their wet burritos. They are packed with your choice of meat (we get carne asada or carnitas), rice, and haha not sure what else at the moment.. but they are GOOD! Your choice of red or green sauce; make sure to have red or green habanero sauce with it! Topped with melted cheddar/white cheese and avocado. With lettuce, sour creme, and tortilla chips. Whenever we order to go they also give us their fresh tortilla chips and salsa. M thinks they are the best chips and salsa he has had so far in a restaurant! Tonight we sat in the restaurant together for the first time as a date. The service was really nice and asked if we wanted to participate with them in their karaoke. We just wanted to eat, but it was cool to hear others sing. They have karaoke nightly at certain hours (unsure of when exactly). The venue and service were nice, and wasn't a busy night so we were served quickly. I can say its our go to place for wet burritos, whether to go or in the restaurant. & hopefully be back to try their other items, but it will be hard to order other items when we love their wet burritos! haha, this was a long review.. but lets say we left the restaurant full and content! I haven't always pegged west Long Beach as an area where fine dining can be experienced. That is a mistake that I should not continue to make. I decided to visit Bonanza because the reviews were pretty decent. Now, the place is not necessarily the best aesthetically, but everything is neat and tidy. Based on the clinentele and the notices on the wall, I could see that this is a longshoremen spot. However, the prices are rock bottom. I decided to get the New York steak dinner for $10, It came with a steak (of course), a baked potato, salad, roll and green beans. Outside of the green beans being the frozen type, the meal was actually pretty good. The steak was a decent cut and tasted good (no steak sauce needed). This was a much better alternative than cooking at home in the summer. All in all, I would recommend Bonanza to anyone living or working on the west side of Long Beach. The prices are fair, the service is good, and the food is good. How can you go wrong? You can't! So, go to Bonanza already!! read more

I really like eating here! Bonanza Restaurant is not one of the newest places in town, but it's always clean and very nicely maintained. If your idea of a good experience includes ready smiles and a great cup of joe that's always topped off, then this is your kind of place. My boyfriend has tried this place out with co workers and he kept telling me he had to bring me! So we finally went this morning around 10ish. It was a really good breakfast. I got the French toast combo and I was happy with it. My boyfriend got a carne asada with chilaqulies and I'm not going to lie I kept stealing his food lol! The meat was really good and the chilaqulies were yummy! Next time I have to get what he got. I asked for coffee and sometimes diners can have crappy coffee so I was kind of hesitant but the coffee was really good and our waitress made sure to top it off when needed.
