The food was delicious! We ordered some hummus and the beet roasted labneh to start and were they good! I highly recommend! This week featured the Dine LA restaurant week menu, but it was a bust because none of us eat beef. The menu had beef all over it, so it was safe to assume they were not really trying to appeal to more customers. Each of us ordered a different chicken entree and we were all satisfied. Here's were things went a little sideways: Our very lovely server was not "on it" tonight and that certainly took away from the experience. We first ordered our appetizers and the hummus never came, oops, she didn't get it. Then, after the food arrived, my friend had to ask for her iced tea "oops didn't get that either" and it was very obviously ordered in front of all of us. As the dinner ended, she was quick to bring us the dessert menus, but we needed boxes to clear up space for dessert, once we cleared the void into the bags, she was super quick to take our orders, but we hadn't had a chance to see the dessert menus yet. She graciously returned in a few minutes and I had a question, "Can you tell me about the orange blossom latte?" Instead of telling me about it, she just said,"unfortunately our espresso machine is not working... "and never told me about it. I'm ok with the machine being down, but she never cared to answer my question. That was annoying, it was like my question didn't matter. Then I asked about "cookies $5, Tahini or pistachio" She quickly corrected me, "cookie" yet the menu said cookies, help me to understand this little word game. The work is plural on the menu, if it is indeed one cookie, the write cookie on the menu! It was also fun to find out there are no refills on iced tea after you had consumed your beverage. Look, the food is good, the practices are somewhat questionable and lack transparency. Just be upfront, it would make you a whole lot more likable. There are plenty of places in the city that treat their customers much better than we were treated tonight (8/22/26). Small things can make a big difference and make people feel valued. Pistachio was excluded due to tree nut allergy, which was much appreciated. Jilane was a great server, she was informative and easy to talk to regarding food that may impact my food allergy. She even informed me that sumac on the onions may trigger a reaction so we opted to leave it out to err on the side of caution. I am grateful that she is someone who takes allergies seriously! Now, into the food: Mezza - ordered the trio of red beet hummus, muttabal, and muhammara. I love muttabal and muhammara so I was surprised that my favorite of the three ended up being the red beet hummus. I loved them all though. The smokiness of the muttabal was great. And of course, the freshly made pita bread was delicious. I do think it's odd that you have to order the pita bread separately and get charged for it when ordering a mezza instead of having the pita bread already come with it. I mean, how else are you supposed to eat the dips otherwise? For the mains, I had the quarter chicken freekeh and my spouse had the lamb chops. We weren't overly impressed with either entree. Good, but nothing extraordinary. Ordered the knafeh for dessert. It is a huge portion and had to take half home. Solid. Our server was sweet but honestly had a little bit of a weird vibe and attentiveness was waning towards the latter half of our meal service. This is one of my favorite places for lunch and work dinners in Long Beach! It is best if you reserve a table ahead of time, no waiting time/directly seated. Parking is pretty convenient too, there are street parking spots but I always go with the parkkng structure (first 2 hours free). You walk in, beautiful set up, very classy designs and colors- with some Arabic music in the background. The food, yum! Definitely one of the few mediterranean places that have authentic food. There are options that are super arabic, like Fattoush and tabouli salads, msakhan, mosakka, and there also other more amercanized versions of food like anything with beats and avocados lol. My go to is always a fattoush salad with kafta and spicy hummus+ mint lemonade...plus that hot fresh bread, delicious! So many options for vegeterians and vegans, since most our mezzas(appetizers) are. For dessert, always in for Knafeh and turkish coffee. Recently felt adventurous and got an Osmeliah ice cream...a dream. We came to Ammatoli for a birthday brunch for my husband, and honestly, it was such a good choice. The place is really pretty and feels relaxed enough to enjoy time with family. Mary took care of us and she was great--super helpful. We followed a lot of her recommendations and she didn't miss. We ended up doing more of a family-style spread, which was perfect for our group of 5. The hummus with chicken shawarma, fattet hummus, foul mudammas, and mutabbal were all really flavorful. The shakshuka was a standout, and the falafel came out fresh and crispy. Everything paired so well with the warm, freshly baked pita. For mains, we shared the mixed mashawi--kafta, ribeye kebab, and lamb chops and everything was cooked just right. The meats were tender, well-seasoned, and you could tell they knew what they were doing. For main dish my husband and I had the mixed grills, chicken, lamb, and beef ( steak I believe) skewers. It was cooked to perfection , even the Tahini sauce was amazing. For dessert we got Kunnafh. It was baked fresh. Crunchy and sweet, so so good! We could have used more of the onion and sumac because we ate the meat with fresh baked pita bread and it needed that. It feels intimate even with other tables nearby. What we ordered: Family Platter - We chose 2 chicken, 2 ribeye, 1 gyro and 1 salmon for our proteins with hummus, pickles and olives on the side, plus tabbouleh for our salad. It also came with rice pilaf. I loved that it included grilled veggies (tomatoes, onions, bell peppers and jalapeño) along with a variety of delicious sauces. Everything was beautifully presented and the food tasted fresh and flavorful. The pita comes straight from the oven which makes such a difference. They also offer cucumbers and carrots if you prefer or if you're gluten-free. Drinks - My friends had the rosé and white wine and I ordered the mint lemonade. Everything was crisp and refreshing. Dessert - We were so full but still shared a pistachio baklava with ice cream and Turkish coffee with cardamom. It was the perfect way to end the meal. The baklava was a little different than what I'm used to. It didn't have the usual layered structure, just phyllo on the top and bottom so it fell apart a bit when we bit into it.
