My friend and I went early Saturday, around brunch time and it was not busy which I liked. The music was playing loud enough that we could hear our conversation and not have to scream our lungs out. The place is small but cozy where you dont feel like your piled up against one another. The small mofongitos were absolutely delicious. The sauces were in point and the size was also perfect for it to be an appetizer plate. Each mofongito came with shrimp, red meat and chicken. We then ordered a sea food platter that came with that plumped lobster tale that I posted a pic of and that mashed potato looking thing is NOT mashed potato But mashed YUCA (are you drooling yet?). Came here with my sister for some food and drinks, We had to give the drinks back because we order a coconut Mojito and It didn't have liquor on it. When our waitress set us down she said to us that if a party of four comes in she's going to have to move us to A table right next to the bar, which the bar was a very packed but the table right next to us was for four people also and there was two people sitting there and she didn't say the same comment to them and I kind of feel like that was was very rude. This is a neighborhood spot with tons of potential. The food is tasty for the most part. The space and ambiance is just right. Their full bar, enough to keep you for a while. However their customer service is the worst. On busy nights food takes forever. And the lack of communication is appalling. Waiting 45 minutes for empanadas is ridiculous. And their excuses even more ridiculous. Word of advice to management, invest in customer service training for your team. It will go a long way. I visited this place with my friends for her birthday and off rip the manager was constantly watching us and making comments on the things we did. However, when the other patrons, who were Hispanic, did the same thing there was no comment. While I understand that this is a Hispanic ran establishment, the majority of the music will be Spanish speaking music when we asked to play our music ( which was only two songs) we were told " we don't like to play THAT KIND of music" by the Dj. Talk about a microaggression To ice the cake when the "happy birthday " music was playing for my friend it played for 15 seconds, versus the other happy birthday for the other patrons included flashing lights and a longer duration of music play. As for the main course I found it to be very mediocre and very overpriced. I had the Camarones Reventados, which is essentially stuffed shrimp with crab meat. The crab meat was imitation crab meat & I found the overall meal to be very bland. The drinks however were very good, I had a passionfruit pina colada as well as a mango one. My only ick was that I it was too syrupy. We also ordered the sweet chili and spicy wings which were the best thing we ordered quite frankly. Overall I DO NOT recommend if you are BLACK. Okay I went there for the first time since they renovated and the service was Horrible. The waitress were not attentive, they took forever to bring the bill then the machine was broken so my friend had to go next door to get cash after waiting half hour for them to bring and pick up the bill. I said to myself the other the day let me try it again because the food was good, again terrible service, the bill took forever to come then they overcharged us for drinks, I brought it to what appeared to be the managers attention and he said I had to wait on the waitress which gave us the bill, the two who served us had left for the day. The service was TERRIBLE I've never been to a restaurant where the servers were so inattentive. I hate giving places bad reviews but this experience was beyond belief. I'm giving it two stars based on the food and the ambiance. We constantly made eye contact with our server and even tried calling her over and she would just turn around or ignore us. When we got our food they just placed it on the table and didn't notice they hadn't given us silverware. Then we ordered a hookah it took three different tries before someone actually brought it over. First time at this place, I ordered a salmon with mashed potatoes and 2 asparagus (I expected more), a simple presentation, but it was good,

I decided to meet a friend here as I've ordered from here multiple times on Uber eats. The food is great but that's not my issue. First off, I arrived before my friend did and the server comes over within 2 minutes and literally says "you ready?" - no greeting or anything. I tell her I'm waiting for my friend and I'll order when she gets there. My friend arrives, we order food + drinks, everything is fine. Skip to when we ask for the check, we ask her to split it evenly on both cards. She brings us the check (and my mistake) I don't double check the receipt total and proceed to write out a tip and sign the receipt. My friend notices we were BOTH charged (almost) the total of our check (Original bill = $44.55, we were both charged = $43.82). Luckily, my friend spoke Spanish because our server communicated better that way. My friend explains to me that the server says she only charged my friend's card and not mine, and she will refund us back in CASH (this makes no sense) but then we have to give her back the $1 and change that she didn't charge on the card?!?! WHAT?! This absolutely makes no sense. We sorted the bill (or so we thought) and head home. The following day I decide to double check my account and see that my card was INDEED charged the amount she claims she didn't charge me. I call the restaurant and immediately ask to speak with a manager, the woman says the manager isnt there right now, do I want to leave a message? I ask will the manager be back at any point that day (it was about 2/3pm, still early in the day) and she tells me "I don't know when the manager will be back to be honest" huh?? Okay, so I leave my number and she then asks "Do you want to leave a message? They'll only call you back if you leave a message" WHAT???? So I explain to her the situation and she remembers it! She asks me "are you sure the charge isn't pending?" I say NOPE, it's definitely been taken out of my account. Later that day the server that charges us calls me and immediately speaks in spanish (thinking I'm my friend) and I tell her I don't understand, does she want to speak with my friend. I give her my friend's number and my friend later tells me the server is acting like she doesn't know what happened. I call my bank to dispute the charge and TODAY, 2 days later I see she even added the tip that I accidentally wrote on the original receipt and my friend tells me the same thing happened to her the night before! These people are scammers or that specific server shouldn't be charging people's cards when she doesn't know what she's doing. Unfortunately, I genuinely like the food here as it was my suggestion to go there but I will never return or order from them again after this mess! It all went downhill when I told our waitress to split our cost. Our total came out to about $43-44 when we got our receipts she charged us each about $44 !!!!!!! coming out to $90. I use to bartend so I can spot a player a mile away. So I told her her error and she decided to give me some bs excuse saying my card wouldn't be charged. I checked the following day with my bank and she not only still charge my card, SHE ADDED ADDITIONAL $$$$!!!!! my card transaction total was now $53 not to mention the "automatic gratuity of $5 they failed to disclose. I reported them for fraud with my bank and am waiting for the follow-up. My friend accidentally gave her $5 of tip because she confused us with the. "money return" and she got charged an additional $5 as well resulting in an extra $10. Scammy place beware lot's of other good Dominican spots. I have to say that I've been to this restaurant about a dozen times PRIOR to the renovation. It had been closed for over a month. When they finally answered the phone I was greeted by a very polite girl that really wasn't much of a help. I hung up. Today I called again to try and order and it seemed like the girl who answered couldn't really share with me a menu. So I went down a list of things that maybe they did have. Their lunch menu is GONE. So if you came here prior to the renovation, don't expect the $10 tab anymore. The place itself looks great. I hate that the register is in the door when you first walk in. I mean RIGHT at the door, touching. It was empty inside which wasn't typical for the times I would frequent. And so the food. The presentation is nice. Ended up with four containers: White Rice, chopped chicken, beans and plantains. I hate that part. Some of the plantains tasted like it was soaked in apple cider vinegar and were extremely rough. More than a few pieces were actually dark like they were spoiled. I mean, compared to the fulfilling meals I've had at this place, this experience was nothing to write home about. I wouldn't refer anyone here since the change. I spoke with the girl on the phone and mention that I would be picking up the food. She said 20 minutes. I arrived and handed my card as I normally do to pay. Then she says we aren't accepting cards right now. So I had to leave to find an atm to take out money to pay. Probably something to mention. Then when I came back with cash, they didn't have any money to change me with so she was asking everyone for change. Just an overall terrible experience. They should get a -star on the service, first and last time I'll visit this place. My wife and I went to the mechanic across the street from this place like around 10am on 3/15/2017, the mechanic recommended for us to go get coffee while we waited for my truck to get fixed. We walked across the street and as we walked inside this so called restaurant, this waitress was prepping the tables and asked us with the only attitude if we were going to seat and eat ? and we told her that we wanted to seat on the tables, then she replied that they weren't ready while the restaurant was empty, she wanted us to seat on these high chairs next to the windows, mind you it was like 3 degrees outside and asked us if we like to seat in the high chairs and my wife said "well we don't have a choice" then that good for nothing replied with an attitude "YES YOU DO" ..! My wife and I looked at each other with disbelief and my wife couldn't stay quite, turned around and told her off ... then we got up and walked out of this shit hole. As business owners we couldn't believe how can a businesses like this could stay in business ..? Or how could they hire animals like this ..?
