I love their wings, but 9/10 times opt for the strips because I don't feel like touching my food that day. Always getting a half and half of Spicy and Soy Garlic. The spicy is SPCIY but delicious. The soy garlic is spicy and just as delicious. It just depends on what you feel like. To truly enjoy my experience, I always get my chicken with pickled reddish, coleslaw, and rice; however, you only get one complimentary side with your chicken. My only rub with this concept is that even though you get a larger portion of chicken, you still only get one side. DAK! in Shirlington gives you more sides if you order more chicken. This is the best fried chicken spot that I have ever been to in this area. You should and should definitely have a try. The chicken is so so so so crispy and yummy! We had several chicken wings and big drums. I prefer the wings instead of drums cuz they are more flavored. But the drums are still very much better than whichever place that I had been to. You should have a try! The fries are wonderful too! But it got to be too much that we packed leftover for lunch, they are till very yummy the second day! I finally was able to try Bonchon!! It was as advertised. The chicken was amazzzing! The flavors and "crunch" were so good. I ordered the half and half (soy & spicy) wings. I also ordered the popcorn shrimp! The service was a little spotty. They seem a tad bit understaffed, but the food was amazing. I'm sitting here at another restaurant, enjoying my meal, after initially sitting down at Arlington Bon Chons where we were asked to scan the QR code bar on the table to not just view the menu but order from the menu as well. Great happy hour prices. The night we went the waiter forgot to put in the order for our food and after about 35 minutes he came rushing over to apologize for his mistake. He looked through the kitchen as well as asked other servers if they knew where they might be. We been to Bonchon multiple Bonchon now and had an alright experience in all of them. We been to the locations up in Baltimore, Arlington, and Falls Church area. This location was probably the best experience I had when I first had Bonchon for the very first time so I wanted to take my girlfriend here. However, the experience from the second time was kind of mediocre. We ordered the lunch special with 6 pieces of chicken (2 drums and 4 wings) along with a side of kimchi coleslaw. I was surprised that the chicken pieces were smaller than usual. We been to other Korean fried chicken places and they are usually pretty big, including the ones from Bonchon. We were a bit disappointment as a result. I was thinking it might be due to their supply of quality chicken due to COVID-19, but we were giving them the benefit of the doubt. The kimchi coleslaw doesn't really have kimchi in it. Its more like regular coleslaw dipped in kimchi juice or sriracha mayo. The worst part about it is that we weren't even full. I think it would be a much better option to just got for a large order of chicken for two people than to get 2 lunch specials. Overall, we were not impressed with our second experience here at the Arlington Bonchon. I am sure they have "off" days and this might just be one of them. We still like Bonchon, so we will still give them more chances, but we will most likely not go for the lunch specials anymore. read more

I was craving tteokbokki and pitched Bonchon to my hubs for dinner. Before I get into the drama around my dish, my husband's dishes were: *Chicken strips: 1/2 soy garlic 1/2 sweet crunch. The waitress warned us about the sweet crunch but hubs loves sweet so we tried it anyway. She was right, its was slightly sweet but very bland *Fried rice bulgogi: For as flavorful as bulgogi is, this dish was extremely bland. There was a ton of food though, so there is that *Our server was awesome. Not only did she warn us about the sweet sauce, but she really tried to resolve my dish drama (detailed below). We tipped her well :) My dish drama: As mentioned, I really wanted tteokbokki, which are these delightful tubular korean rice cakes. Last time I was at a Bonchon I ordered the Bull Dak, which is a chicken dish that has the rice cakes as an ingredient. At the restaurant, I asked if I could get the bull dak but no rice on the side, no cheese and double rice cakes. I was denied. I offered to cut half the chicken to get more rice cakes, to pay an upcharge, to order a side of rice cakes - literally willing to do anything to make this happen and was flat out told no by the manger. I stopped on the way out to express my frustration with the manager and he was nice enough but said his hands were completely tied. I don't work in the restaurant industry, so I can't say for certain if his hands were 100% tied, but given that the rice cakes are already an ingredient in the dish, and I was offering more money/savings on other ingredients this just didn't ring true for me and I left extremely frustrated. Side note: they do have a tteokbokki dish, but the protein is fish cakes, which I'm not into. I asked about subbing the protein there and was also told no, but I feel like the no there is a much more reasonable no so I'm not mad I was denied that. read more

Their hot flavor is good, but I'm deducting them a star because it's a little too intense. My brother and I both agree that some wings were fine, but others were volcanos erupting in my mouth. They should serve ranch or bleu cheese to cool it down or something. Their seasoned fries. DELICIOUS! I don't even know why they both with the ketchup. Just place two spicy mayo dipping sauces so I don't feel bad when I ask the server to bring me more. For dinner, it is harder to get seats sometimes when they're packed. A 25 minute wait is pretty extreme, but I guess they're worth it. It's also great for lunch cause the side items are cheaper, but of course, smaller portions. I have friends in Virginia who are ADDICTED. They were going to take me to eat there, but I already discovered the place and went two times before they even had the chance. Really disappointed in my order on Friday. This place used to be a five in my book, but the chicken, while still very tasty, has really shrunk over the years. I remember going when they first opened, I thought we were delivered the wrong plate because the drummettes where the size of small drumsticks. These were average to below average size, but still cost $33 for 24 wings, add tax and tip (or delivery fee) and you are at about $1.75 per wing. Simply a terrible value. read more

What happened to Bonchon? Is it going too corporate or what? We went last night after not having visited it for a while and found they had lowered the number of wings you get in a large platter from 30 to 24. Price was not lowered. Just like that. The waiter explained that corporate told them it was because the quantity was too much and people weren't finishing it and that amounted to food waste. I nearly spit out my water laughing. Apart from that blatant profit-making move, the fried chicken was just not as good. And this is from a Bonchon addict. We got a half and half platter and the wings on the bottom of the fiery side were simply not spicy. That's never happened. Hope this was a fluke and quality doesn't suffer. I'm so HOT for this place! While on vacation, we turned to Yelp and stumbled across this gem! Came in during a very dead weekday lunch. They have a lunch special menu until 2pm FYI. We happened to catch it just in time. The waitress was nice. Since we've never been she gave us some recommendations for food. We went with the chicken wings and Parmesan fries. We got the wings half and half (they only have two flavors). Now, we like spicy and when we asked her how hot they were she said a 7 or 8 out of 10. Sounded good to me. BOY am I glad I got another flavor. The hot wings were ATOMIC HOT. Like if you touch your skin with the sauce it burns kind of hot. Yes, they still get 5 stars. In the waitresses defense she was Asian and I'm pretty sure their heat levels are not the same as ours lol. The flavors (besides the hot) were amazing!!!! The wings were deep fried but fried in a way I've never had before. The wings were huge and they were SO crispy!!!! The fries were so amazing too!! Getting food delivered always seems like a good idea, but nine times out of ten, it sucks. Most food just can't travel and still taste good. After much trial and error (so, so much error), I've found the major exceptions to be pizza (duh) and Bonchon chicken. You cannot go wrong with a medium order of soy garlic strips (that's twenty pieces - always get another for another meal or two). Add pickled radishes (which are complimentary if you ask for them) and kimchi coleslaw for a solid meal. The one time we ate at the restaurant, our waiter recommended the kimchi coleslaw and I haven't looked back. In fact, we often order two of those because the containers are small. The one thing I miss when I order delivery is the lychee martini, another recommendation from the waiter. I wish I knew his name, because his recommendations were flawless. Since it's refreshing and not overly sweet, you should definitely enjoy a lychee martini if you're dining in. read more

It's bon-chon so always pretty good. They specialize in their fried chicken tenders (nuggets or chicken something) and they have a wide variety of tasty and spicy sauces. No side sauces though! Their bowls are also very good. I got the one with quinoa and it was hardy. Service there has always been good. Excellent, kind, attentive staff and they are able to handle large parties. Their take out is solid but I'd eat the wings/ chicken quickly. They are located on Pershing ave, a bit away from Clarendon- Wilson area but it is right off of route 50 and there is plenty of parking. read more

The menu variety is also quite limited with few options outside of the apparent mainstay of chicken wings (which were acceptable, somewhat dry, a bit too salty). Legitimately great chicken wings. Comes in two flavors and the wings are big(think somewhere between a drum stick and a Renascence fair). Both flavors are tasty for what they are. Not much on the menu outside of the wings but the few appetizers we had were tasty. Could use outdoor seating. The hostesses were not exactly friendly when we asked them where we could go to buy a bottle of wine after dinner(they only wanted to sell from their bar). I've worked in the restaurant industry for years and that would never be acceptable. I walked out confused that no one told me at the front desk. I didn't think I would ever eat them. About a week later, a friend of mine got take out from them. When ordering, they seemed to know nothing about the food. Mandoo is mandu (dumplings) and we were told they didn't have dumplings. The girl taking the order seemed to know nothing about the food. When we got our wings, dukboki, and dumplings, we were not impressed. The food is amazing, come on, its Bonchon! But as of now, if you are expecting things here to work the way they do at other Bonchon locations, you are going to be really disappointed. -they do not take table reservations with eat in orders like the late Annandale location, and the current Centreville and Fairfax locations do -if you have a group of people, and a table with only a couple extra chairs than the size of your group is open, you will NOT be seated. If you have everyone in a group except one person who will be joining you an hour later, you will NOT be seated. They'd rather you wait god knows how long for a smaller table to open up because i guess they want to make sure an exact party of 6 will be paying them. But when you end up waiting for a half hour on top of waiting for your food to cook(the chicken takes 30-40 mins to properly cook), you will be waiting a long ass time for food if your party does not match the exact number of chairs at a table. We had 4 people, another person was going to be joining us in an hour, and 2 tables were unused, one with about 6 chairs, and the other with 8. They would not give us the smaller of the two tables despite the fact that there were no reservations for it (remember, they don't take them) and that we will probably have to wait a half hour for a smaller one to open. When the host told me the seating rules, I snapped that it was ridiculous. I'm sorry I was snappy :( I just hadn't eaten yet all day, and I was not expecting to encounter such a shoddy policy! You didn't create such a stupid policy and you did not deserve my tone. But really now, what kind of policy is that? Is this permanent or just during your "soft" opening week? I really dont get it. I could understand if two people wanted to sit at a large table but that wasnt the case here. I ended up calling Fairfax Bonchon while leaving this location, and not only did they give me and my friends a table but they had our food ready as soon as we arrived.
