This is my first time eating at a Bonchon and I really liked it. We ordered Bulgogi Udon, Chicken Katsu, and the House Fried Rice to go and loved all of them. Great flavor in all three dishes. These three orders served two of us four separate meals, so the portion sizes are really good. Also, the servers were very friendly. They actually made a mistake on one of our orders and gave us just the Bulgogi plate instead of udon. One of their workers called and then drove the extra order over. This place was definitely a hip place to eat at. When we came the traffic was slow but the service was impeccable. I loved how 90% of the restaurant was surrounded by windows so you could see out as yiu ate and all the natural light. We got seated immediately and got the menus as a QR code. We placed orders within 10 minutes and we were actually out within an hour or so which is great on around if you want a quick meal. They have about 10 tables a couple of large ones and there is bar seating as well. The weed stuff is really helpful and friendly and can give recommendations and make some adjustments as needed. We needed the sauce on the side for the shrimp shumai that we had. The shumai can be had either fried or steamed and I recommended steamed that came out really well. My craving for tteokbokki led us to Bonchon for dinner. Of course, we also had to get the chicken - half & half strips with a side of pickled radish. Loved Bonchon's take on tteokbokki! The delicious sauce was slightly sweet and acidic with a spicy kick. Since we ordered takeout, the kimari was soggy - wished they packed it separately from the tteokbokki. An improvement to the dish would have been a hard boiled egg - we ended up adding one at home. The strips were super crispy but a tad dry. This seems like a place that's best as a takeout spot for lunch: order online and pick up with minimal interaction. We decided to eat it in, but felt the entire time we would have been better off getting the food to go. After we were sat outside, our sever said we could order through their website or in person. We said we'd probably order in person because we may have some questions about the ingredients and would probably need to ask for a modification (that the restaurant suggested). The server left us to look over the menu and then did not come back. Eventually we had to go inside and find someone else to get the clarification on ingredients (at this point we were just going to order online but still needed to check on whether a sauce had fish in it or not). The menu seems to have a number of vegetarian options, but we were told that most of them would not be vegan because the tofu was fried in the same oil as the chicken and shrimp. While I know vegans are more strict about such things, I also think that if there's no egg or cheese involved but you say your tofu can't be considered vegan, it isn't vegetarian either. We did eventually place our order, and the food came out pretty quickly. We did not get any banchan--which I thought might be the case, so we ordered a side of pickled radish, which we never got either. The main dishes were a good amount of food, fresh, and tasty enough, but not anything notable. Also, I did not think it was possible to make the bibimbap sauce as un-spicy as the one we got, but apparently it is possible. (It's not that it was not hot at all, but you usually have to be measured with it if you're not used to heat--this was not an issue with the bibimbap we got.) I think if you just wanted a quick to-go meal of some nice fresh Korean chicken sandwiches or tacos, or bulgogi fries, this would be a very enjoyable spot for it.
