I choose their combo of 4 wings and 2 drumsticks half and half (3 with soy garlic and 3 spicy). The spicy ones were no joke. I had to save the soy garlic for last to cool down my taste buds. This lunch special also came with a side and I chose coleslaw. All of this costed about $10 before tax and tip. Not too shabby! Bonchon is known for their korean fried chicken. If you've ever tried their other locations you'll know what it's all about. If not, they're extra extra crispy chicken in either soy garlic or spicy sauce. They have an option of getting wings or wings and drumstick combo. The side of radish is a perfect addition. I'm so excited that they opened a location in Downtown Brooklyn. They also have bimbimbap, fried rice, etc. I've never tried it at bonchon because I always get the chicken, but it's a good option to have in the neighborhood. This was actually my first time at a Bonchon Chicken joint. The edamame ($6.95) was good - hard to mess up edamame. The boneless wing platter ($13.95) came with two options for sauces - spicy or soy garlic (or a combo). It also comes with a side of either cole slaw or pickled radish. Portion was decent and the wings were crispy on the outside. They were light on the sauce, but I found it to be a good thing. I preferred the spicy sauce. They apparently just had their soft opening, so the bar is not fully stocked yet (just soft drinks so far), but it seemed everything else was in place. The space is very clean, modern, and fairly spacious. There are some TV screens at the bar, so could be a good spot to watch games over wings and beer in the future. This Bonchon outlet in Brooklyn is really close to home so we thought we'd give it a try. We came here for lunch on Sunday. The restaurant does not open till 1:00pm. It was very spacious just like any Bonchon restaurants. Note, they do not serve alcoholic beverages as of yet, but they serve mocktails if you are up for it. We ordered KFC (Korean fried chicken) beef bulgogi and kimchi. Our orders came out in timely fashion and the chicken was tasty. We did however find ourselves grossed out by their bulgogi, it was covered with layers after layers of onions, we even have to shove the onions aside to find the beef (and this is not exaggeration as the picture proved it) we don't know what's the deal with that and when I mentioned it to the manager he simply said that they're just following the Bonchon recipe directives which was quite hard to believe. I guess I won't order anything other than fried chicken next time, since that's really the only reason why we're there in the first place! read more

The wings for every Bonchon I went are great and a must. If you like spicy, I would recommend Bull Dak and tteokbokki. The only difference between the two is that Bull Dak have chicken and they serve rice on the side. Their fries are pretty good too, but I rather have the wings than fries. I tried the salmon avocado ball, personally I don't like to eat this all by myself, but it's a good option to share. Having it all by myself, the taste, feels too much for me. My friend had their chicken katsu, I don't think I like it or think it's worth it. If you wanna get non alcoholic drink, get mojito (I usually get lychee mojito) with the wings. I don't think I like to get dessert here, the ice cream ball ones I don't think it's worth it might as well go to supermarket lol. Get Tiramisu rather than ice cream if u must get dessert. Service is okay. Sometimes great, sometimes not so much. For example, either they will fill your water before u ask, or you will need to ask every time. A nice addition to downtown Brooklyn by opening Bon Chon here...Passed by the place several times during lunch hour and it has been packed between seating and a lot of take out orders. The lunch special is definitely worth it as it includes a small side as well. If planning to take out, order ahead and give yourself 20-30 minutes as that line is long. Pretty solid fried chicken, especially for the neighborhood, which has a dearth of good food options if you don't want to walk 10 minutes south. The ingredients seem fresh and the chicken is crispy, but not overly breaded. Both of the basic flavors they offer are relatively light, so you're getting friend chicken with sauce, not sauce with a bit of chicken flavor. If you want a stronger sauce, ask for a side of the bibimbap sauce on the side. The big menu is tempting, but stick to the fried chicken. The bulgogi is the blandest bulgogi I've ever had, and I say this as someone who doesn't like most bulgogi because of the overly sweet sauce. Here, the sauce has no flavor and the meat isn't good enough to stand on its own. This place is pretty expensive for the neighborhood, but I guess I can't complain since it's in roughly the same range as Yaso Tangbao and it's aiming at a similar market. read more

I thought the tteokbokki and bulgogi were ok (there are several Korean delivery spots nearby that are much stronger in these dishes), but really the standout is the fried chicken. I have mixed feelings about this place... it's not the first time I've ordered from Bonchon however a first to order in person rather than ordering online. It's nice that they have lunch specials menu where you get nearly the same amount of food for less. I was craving rice and decided on getting a Bibimbap with soy garlic chicken. I didn't see that it was also on the lunch menu and was charged the full price because I pointed at the main menu rather than the lunch. It would've been nice for the cashier to ask if I wanted to order from the lunch menu or the regular. Not saying that it's their fault but feels like a ripoff to pay an extra $4. Prior to this order, I had ordered the house fried rice and it came in the same container as the bibimbap. So it's all the same. I will say that the bibimbap was good so it sorta made up for it. Quite disappointed at this bonchon location. I got the food at a pretty decent time around 20 minutes and they provided a bit more than 32 piece of chicken in each box. Had tried soy garlic chickens from other bonchon locations in Manhattan nyc and other states; the other locations were better tasting than this location. The 32 boneless piece were so saggy and dry. I heard many of my friends talk about Bonchon so I decided to try it for the first time today. I like how their bulgogi is a good portion size. What i didn't like about it was that it was cut up in very small pieces like crumbs. I've never had bulgogi like that. I would pick up like 2 crumbs with my chopsticks . Their fried chicken is also good, but I was kinda disappointed because I've had better and bigger sized wings/drums in the city for same price. I wish they had more flavors besides soy garlic and spicy. The seasoned fries didn't impress me as well, I think I would prefer the regular fries and save a couple bucks. I've been to Bonchon in Allston and Harvard Square countless times during my years in Boston, and always felt that Bonchon was my favorite of all Korean Fried Chicken restaurants. I was thrilled that there was a Bonchon near me in Brooklyn, and came here for the lunch menu. I don't know what happened but the chicken tastes nothing like what I expect from Bonchon chicken. None of that flaky crunchy wet spicy savory chicken that I'm used to. It was a dry bready flat chicken nugget. It was as flat as a baked or reheated chicken nugget. As a Bonchon fan, I was utterly disappointed. I also ordered a bulgogi bibimbap, which I enjoyed at least. The fries are top-notch and brilliant. All I have to say is that this location's Bonchon chicken isn't up to par with their other more established locations. On a stroll home after work was hungry and in the mood for something good to eat I came upon this place being that it looked new and quite clean and had a sign saying they have the best wings I had to give it a try. The place is quite spacious and has a really long bar which is great for anyone dining alone. I proceeded to look at the menu which as big as a photo album with everything well pictured which gives you a better idea of what you are ordering. Being that I was starving I decided to order a variety of things from the menu I had the pork buns, steamed shumai, fried chicken in two different sauce and Cole slaw, french fries and chicken tacos. I wanted more but was told that was more than enough food for two people. My friend and I didn't expect it to be so much food for two being that we were hungry. Well let me tell you I like everything except the steamed shumai I didn't like the sauce that was on it I rather mine with a brown sauce. My friend and I came here on a Thursday evening as soon as they reopened at 5:30. The restaurant was pretty much empty except for one other patron. We were greeted and seated immediately and had one of the kindest waitress in New York. She literally was full of energy and ready to serve. I ordered the coconut ice tea which is definitely amazing and I would come back for that alone and of course for the main event I ordered the chicken in the soy garlic sauce/flavor. The chicken is well seasoned and well fried no complaints here. You get the option of cole slaw or a side of pickled radishes and because I hate mayonnaise I ordered the picked radishes and I have to admit it was really good. I've never had Bonchon before but ever since they've opened near Metro Tech, they're overwhelming popular. I had their Korean Fried Chicken which appears to be to popular go to for good reason! Their extra crispy chicken was absolutely amazing! I had their lunch combo which included a mix of both soy garlic and spicy. Both sauces were fantastic but the Soy Garlic was really the king. The combo mixed wings and drumsticks and also included a side. The drumsticks were huge and would probably exclusively order them next time. My buddy ordered the fried rice which looked great and he loved. It was a huge porition of rice that was a made a great valued lunch. They have an entire bar area with what appears to be a pending liquor license. Would be very excited for when that goes through to come for a happy hour. I was completely turned off by this location. The counter woman was rude, and extremely off putting. Do not go here on a timed lunch break. It takes at least 40 mins for you to get your food. I was very tempted to ask for a refund due to the insane wait time. I came here during my lunch break for jury duty, which was the worst idea Ever! I got there around 117, and left around 153pm. Smh there was no explanation as to why it took so long. I asked would i be able to sit at a dine in table where i could enjoy my lunch, and was harshly told i could not and to wait in this waiting area. A bit confused by that, i gathered my change which was placed on the counter instead of my hand, and proceeded to the waiting area to wait for what seemed like forever. I will not return to this location, and if you are on a timed lunch break, maybe you should call to see if that can help speed up the process of making your food. The 1st time I came to this location, it was soon after they open. The bar was bare and items we came to get they hadn't gotten on the menu, so we left for the Korea town location. Checking in periodically, the items had not appeared, but the friendly, slightly clamoring staff was always nice enough to check in again another day. This block needs something like a solid Bon Chon, so I waiting wasn't an issue. I stopped in recently for lunch and it seemed things were running smoothly. The employees at the counter were very friendly and were very thorough in explaining the menu changes that affected some of the locations in the city. I chose an item that I usually do not go with surprisingly it was pretty tasty. I got the 4 wings and 2 drums, as opposed to my usual strips, which are now nuggets (she said they were not very tender). You also get a choice of side. I went with white rice, nothing special, pretty standard. The order took about 5-10 minutes with a few people waiting for orders. I thought the magazines were a nice touch in the seating area, as orders are cooked on the spot. Glad I waiting, it was really good.
