I went with the pulled pork and the chipotle chicken. Both were really good, super tender and flavorful but if I had to pick one, I am a sucker for a good pulled pork! The problem with Yelp is the problem with the Public School system: grade inflation. Everyone wants their kid to get an A so they pass out A's like leis at the airport in Hawaii. Like Oprah giving away cars. And while I try to save my 5 star reviews I'm guilty of giving 4's when 3's would probably be more accurate because a 3 feels like a ding. Which leads me to Mighty Quinn's. I thought the food was very good. So it deserves 4 stars. 4 stars is for very good food. Not great. But really very good with no complaints. The place is cute it looks like a barbecue place that aliens might make after googling barbecue place. Like if they beamed a person ho to study them they might build a prison that looked like this and the person might think, "oh, I guess I'm in a barbecue place." I thought the woman who waited on me was a delight. So friendly. And she kept calling me, "my love". Who doesn't like that? I had the brisket sandwich with Mac and cheese. It comes with coleslaw and you can choose a drink or cornbread. I opted for cornbread. They also have 3 barbecue sauces on the table. A Carolina mustard based one. Very mustard forward. Is that a complaint? A barbecue one which was fine. It tasted like barbecue sauce. And a chili like one with a creamy base. That was a little hot for me. But I am a wimp when it comes to heat. Brisket was very tender and tasty. Pickled onions were nice. Pickles were kind of one note. Mac and cheese was better than a lot of them. But also fairly one dimensional and could have used a bit more salt. Was there salt? I didn't see it. Coleslaw was good. Vinegar based. I liked the cornbread. Moist with a good crumb. If this was an alien prison. Which I can not stress enough- it was not. I would have been happy to stay for a while. There seemed to be a lot of options. I was in Gowanus passing by and noticed their lunch special, sandwich and a side for 12.99 (up charge for Brisket), which is a really good price. I got the pulled pork sandwich and a side of baked beans. Beans at BBQ spots have been hit or miss for me (my favorite is Izzy's in Crown Heights). These were some of the best Baked Beans I have ever had. Sweet, a kick of heat, and big pieces of tender beef. The pulled brisket was tender and flavorful; they were a little salty for my taste, and I love salt. If there had been a tad less salt, it would've been perfect! The sandwich overall was still excellent. They had an array of homemade BBQ sauces. I liked the South Carolina one best, but they all slapped! I have one gripe which is the kiosk where I ordered gave me a choice of pickled vegetables, and I just got pickles, and it literally was 2 tiny pickle rounds, you can see it in the picture. Ahh good ol' Mighty Quinn's. This was a frequent spot for me about 8-9 years ago and I always found that it tasted amazing. Fast forward to now and it is actually better than I remember. I saw they now had kiosks which is what I used to make my large order and it took basically no time at all before I was out the door bag in hand. It's a cozy setup inside but I wouldn't necessarily recommend dining in as I'd imagine it can get pretty crammed on a busy night. Now onto the food itself. I ordered 1 full pound of Brisket which was SO ABSOLUTELY tender. I couldn't even pick it up with my fork without it falling off and apart. I also ordered burnt ends sandwich but sadly they were all out of burnt ends, so I instead ordered(you guessed it) a brisket sandwich. The bun was nice and soft, piled with nice fatty pieces(just as I requested) of thick, tender brisket. Additionally I ordered another one of my go-tos; the dirty fries. Fries covered in bbq sauce and burnt ends(which I think they used brisket instead). These were crispy yet soft which was unexpected considering I ordered to go and had a long drive home. I see they've also added dirty rice which I will definitely try next go round. Greedy me also ordered a pint of Mac and cheese. Very tasty, very cheesy and I do definitely recommend it. Last but certainly not least I ordered cornbread. My only complaint was how small it was. If I known the size beforehand I would have ordered multiple. I dont know why Mighty Quinn's gets hate as I think they are terrific. My go to is the ribs which are so good you dont even need sauce. Smoky and falling off the bone tender. The brisket is also perfectly tender and the bark is amazing. The chipotle chicken is anopther winner. Always ask for the pickles and peppers which are compimentary and I admit sometimes they do forget them. Sides is another way they excel. The Broccoli salad is insane. There is no way a broccoli salad should taste this good! It has almonds,bacon,dried cranberries and this great sweetish dressimg. The crunch of the broccoli and almonds witht the sweetness of the cranberries and dressing is a great combination. Try this! The sumer corn salad which is a seasonal side is also really good as it tastes like elote in a cup. The cornbread when fresh is outtstanding but a few times it was a bit dry. My friends and I visited Mighty Quinn's Bar after attending Fool's Circle's Comedy show in Prospect Park. It's only a 6 minute drive from the park which was convenient for me and my hungry friends! I'm usually a fan of the creamy Mac and cheese but it was a bit too much and I wouldn't have gotten it if I knew it was like this so be mindful! Self-inflicted wound here... I work a block away from this place and never go because it's a little more money than the cheapo delis nearby. Today I stopped by for the first time in several years because they're tearing up the street out front and I figured they could use the business. I order a $13.95 lunch special that comes with fries and one side and some cole slaw. As she's ringing me up, the woman mentions that they don't have any fries today because their fryer is broken. So I say I'll sub in a second side. She says no, it only comes with one side. I explain that I'd like to sub it for the missing fries. She says it already comes with fries; it's just that today they don't have them. I explain this leaves me one item short. She says no dice on the broccoli side I've been coveting. I tell her I'll take my business elsewhere. The food wasn't great last time I was here and the epic stupidity of the team in losing a customer over this means they don't deserve my business. Why do I have to drink beer out of a plastic container, rather than a glass? This is not only disgusting and unhealthy, it is also irresponsible. we order take out from MQ's all the time and the quality is excellent! but pretty disappointed tonight when I ordered the hand pulled chipotle BBQ chicken. the accompanying image (included) shows a large bowl with a meals worth of chicken included almost to the top. all that came was a small cup 1/4 filled with a few pieces of chicken. it came to $15 for the tiny cup which seems significantly overpriced for the couple bites we were given. My partner and I wanted a small bite after seeing an afternoon show at the Bell House. We were heading to nearby Four & Twenty Blackbirds for a slice of pie, when we passed the spot where Fletcher's BBQ used to be and noticed it was now a Mighty Quinn's. We were familiar with the local chain--first having tried it when it was originally at Smorgasburg as well as one of their Manhattan brick-and-mortar spots--so we were glad to see one now closer to home. We thought a little BBQ before pie would be perfect, so we popped in. We were immediately warmly greeted by the staff and handed a menu to order at the counter. I love BBQ but I don't eat red meat, so I got a small order of spicy chicken wings and a side of Brussels sprouts. I was grateful that they indicate clearly on their menu if there is meat in their side dishes (as well as what's gluten-free), which is a constant frustration for me when I eat at BBQ joints. My partner ordered the dirty fries with burnt ends. We grabbed a table and our food was ready very quickly. And as expected, it all tasted delicious. Both the wings and the sprouts were nicely crispy and tender. And I thought the portions were very reasonable for the price. We had recently gotten over a bout of covid, so we felt comfortable eating inside. But they have tables outside as well for anyone not yet ready to eat indoors. They don't have as much seating (indoors or out) as Fletcher's had in this spot. (It looks like they converted some of the former seating area to more kitchen space.) So I would guess they're expecting to do a lot of takeout business, which they seemed to be doing while we were there. Love the Mighty Quinn brand but this location needs to be put out of it's misery. The service is absolutely the worst. I cannot honestly recommend this location at all. I walked into the location with my daughter for the first time and placed our order. We sat to dine in. I ordered the bowl and my daughter ordered the chicken sandwich with Mac and cheese and fries. My bowl arrived 20mins before my daughter's meal. I asked when should we expect the rest of our meal the host responded "oh, I didn't know you want the meal together?!" Because I'm with my daughter I just shook my head and waited to see when her meal would arrive. By the time my daughter's meal arrived mine was cold and tasteless.
