If you've never tried Korean double fried wings then you are missing out! You can rectify this situation though by stopping by Bonchon for some delicious wings! This fast casual chain has a Charlotte spot located in the Parktowne Village Shopping Center down the stairs on the bottom floor. The restaurant is small but there is indoor and outdoor seating as well as a bar area. If you are limited on time or would simply like to enjoy it in the comfort of your home, it is great to order to go as well as I find the chicken stays warm and fresh! They offer other menu items but to me the chicken is what you go for. You can order drumsticks which are larger, wings, strips, or a combo. They have multiple sauces to choose from including spicy, soy garlic, and Korean barbecue. If you love fried chicken but would like to try it with a twist, then give this place a try!

Had a great experience when I visited on a Tuesday around 1:30pm for lunch. It was not busy at all and our waitress was friendly and efficient. Located in the shopping center across from Park Road Shopping center. Plenty of parking to choose from. It's downstairs where "Easy like Sunday" is located at. I ordered a "Bowl" which consisted of rice, carrots, veggies and chicken. It came in a piping hot bowl which made the food taste even better! Not a bad place for lunch and will return to try other things on their menu.

Although pricey, the food is very fresh and delicious. The fried Korean chicken is very crunchy. We ordered several different dishes and we all just shared everything. [[HIGHLIGHT]]We went right during lunch hour and it was surprisingly slow and quiet.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The service was quick and the food was super hot and fresh. Lots of parking due to the establishment being inside a shopping center. Lots of monthly specials and lunch specials available.

Bonchon in Charlotte was great, to say the least. We ordered their Bulgogi fries which were, excellent. We shared their 10-piece soy garlic wings with a side of white rice, and I had no complaints there. Overall, the food was great, Bonchon never disappoints.

The service was great. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The restaurant is fairly clean.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The fried chicken is super crunchy with lots of flavor. The menu does offer other things that I would love to try.

I love Bonchon's wings. Their soy garlic flavor is always fresh with an amazing crunch that makes me want to keep coming back for more. I have eaten inside this establishment twice and the service is always fast and efficient. I have doordashed from this location 3 times and 2 out of the 3 times they gave me full size chicken legs instead of the wings I ordered. Very strange.

Loved the Chicken here it was very tasty. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It's a nice spot in the busy Woodlawn area.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Customer service was decent, but I'd come back for the food most certainly.

I stopped here again (once in a LONG time!) during lunch...and tried their Chicken Lunch Special (4 Drumsticks), with Radish (and also added Kimchi). Plus, I tried their Bulgogi Bao Buns as well. As always, their double-fried Chicken Drumstick was super-duper-crispy and drenched in flavor...YUM! Bulgogi Bao Buns were good...but somehow I thought they could have been better. Bulgogi wasn't popping with deep flavor (the way I like it), and the Bao Buns weren't warm (the way I like it). Still, I had no problem eating all of it. This wasn't a 5-star meal...but talk about a value-packed meal! The Chicken Lunch Special, which comes with 1 choice side, was only $10.99...probably cheaper than what you'd pay at McD's for Chicken Nuggets and Fries? Service was really good...fast, friendly and attentive! I live closer to South Charlotte, so I've been to the Bonchon on PIneville-Matthews Road more. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Although the one on Pineville-Matthews is newer and more updated (with red booths!), I kind of like the vibe here more.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]I do wish they had on some festive overhead music. If I recall, there wasn't ANY overhead music...which kinda dampened the ambiance of the place.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] In any case, I'm definitely up for returning for more of their K-Chicken!

Ordered to go, chicken was soggy and half the size of the bun. Not very good either. Will not order again.

Food was amazing, loved the customer service!!! I loved the crispy wings and fried dumplings.

Bibimbap (Chicken soy garlic flavor)

The place is modern asian fusion cuisine, particularly on the emphasis of Korean based dishes. Place is a pretty casual feel akin to a quieter version of a sports bar but with a couple TVs. So don't expect it to get super lively as such. What makes this place worth a try is definitely the food. Their main specialty are street style Korean Fried Chicken. They come in a variety of flavor options, and are double fried to perfection. My personal recommendation is the Soy Garlic flavor. Despite their street style of food, they also have more traditional options such as Chicken Katsu, Japchae, and the signature Korean staple: Bulgogi and Bibimbap. Bibimbap is a notable dish because it is served on a hot stone bowl and it can fill you up by itself. My recommendation of protein is Soy Garlic and Bibimbap (shredded beef). As for services, the waitress that hosted us during our Saturday visit was very attentive and always took notice of what's going on at our table wether is a dropped utensil, or a refilled drink. Some things I actually noticed is that she was demonstrating traditional *asian specific* etiquette and respect whenever she interacted with our table. Props to her for going the extra effort to understand Korean/Japanese mannerism. So with the great experience, why 4 stars? Its honestly due to a smaller menu as well as pricing. Don't get me wrong, the food is excellent, and the proportions are agreeable. Its just that $70 for 4 people can go a long way in similar options nearby. All I'm saying is to offer cheaper menu options on the dinner side. This would allow a larger variety of people to come in for more casual eating. As for now, I'll visit this place more for special occasions. Overall verdict? Definitely give this place a try! I highly recommend Bibimbap. Just eat slowly since the hot bowl might burn you.

The service wasn't great. The chicken was. Fries and chicken were crispy and had good flavor. Was pretty busy when we got there. We had to stand up to find the server a few times. But other than that nothing special.

Korean fried chicken came highly recommended to me and Bonchon was the only place I knew in CLT that had it. The location I've frequented the most is E. Woodlawn. The restaurant is very casual, so it's the perfect spot to go with friends or family when you just want a relaxing, chill vibe. The staff has always been friendly, patient, and the food stellar. In terms of Korean Fried Chicken, the chicken is super crispy, well seasoned and I always have mine drizzled in soy garlic sauce. The sauce had a light sweetness to its savor, but it's not a sugar rush. Please note that prices may have changed as this review is a combination of visits I've had over the years. Signature Drumsticks (5-count)- ($13.55) Small Wings + Drums Combo (6 Wings/3 Drums) - ($14.05) Coleslaw - The coleslaw is okay, it wasn't memorable, but it wasn't bad either. However, coleslaw is always hit or miss at restaurants. Seasoned Fries ($5.95)- Crispy, seasoned goodness. Love their fries. Seasoned Zucchini Fries ($8.95) - the name is misleading. I was expecting zucchini in a fry shape, but this was just regular ol' fried zucchini. The name tells the truth with the word seasoned because this was some of the best fried zucchini I've had in life. It may just be in the number one spot. Since it was so good, the shape doesn't even matter. It's minuscule compared to the taste. Takoyaki ($7.15) - fried octopus dumplings drizzled with Japanese mayo, katsu sauce, and sprinkled with bonito flakes. - the highlight of this appetizer aside from the taste is the crispy outside that is paired with the soft octopus filling. I loved every bite.

Whole table of all the food we ordered! Minus the minor cutoff of the pork buns.

Flights from Guatemala would arrive, and passengers would walk off the plane carrying bags of Pollo Campero. The aroma was unforgettable. Ever since then, I've been curious about what made this chicken so special. Fast forward to Charlotte, and now I finally understand the hype. I stopped in for a quick lunch and ordered the four-piece roasted chicken meal with sweet plantains, coleslaw, and a roll. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and satisfying. The chicken was juicy and packed with spices that set it apart from your typical fast-food chicken chain. It's hard to explain until you try it, but the seasoning has a distinctive flavor that makes Pollo Campero uniquely its own. The sweet plantains were excellent. Soft, caramelized, and sweet with those slightly crispy edges that make plantains so addictive. The coleslaw was cold, creamy, and crunchy, which paired perfectly with the chicken. The service was friendly, the value was excellent, and my order was accurate. I always take a moment to check my order before leaving the drive-thru, and everything was exactly right. If your fried chicken experience begins and ends with KFC, Bojangles, or Church's, give Pollo Campero a try. It's a delicious taste of Guatemala and a reminder that great chicken comes in many forms. Life is too short not to eat well, Charlotte.

Several excellent local restaurants, too. So I had high hopes today for Pollo Campero. PC was clean when I arrived at 12:30. Quite busy with about a third of the tables in use and the remaining were clear of dirty dishes. Surprising because they don't have a trash can that I could see - the staff bus and clean tables, clearing them swiftly. I ordered a three piece at the counter and it didn't take long until a running found my tent card and I was able to start. The chicken was thoroughly cooked, still moist. Not much for flavor in the skin today, it needed some hot sauce to bring out the taste. The cole slaw was creamy and crisp. Still good but also a little bland. The small dinner roll wrapped in plastic was fresh and fluffy. Overall, it's a nice little fast food spot. If you're looking for something in a known quantity along South Boulevard near the light rail, this will work nicely. [Review 728 of 2025 - 4162 in North Carolina - 24288 overall]
