3.0 The food was pretty good, just like I remembered. However, the service was a bit disappointing. When you walk in, you're not sure if you should go to the counter or seat yourself. Once we did sit down, it took a while for the server to come over and take our order. As for the food, we ordered the Seoul Sampler and the Bacon Kimchi Stir-Fry Udon. Everything was cooked well and tasted great. Nothing pairs better with Korean fried chicken than beer and some good ol' soju. Would I come back again? Came here because my sister raves about this place. We got the garlic soy mixed wings and drums in addition to the chicken sandwich and seasoned fries. The fries were good but very different. They had what looked like a white powder on them that tasted like powdery cheese but it was good. The chicken was ok. The service was a little sub par because we kept going to the counter when we needed to order or get our food wrapped but was told they would come to us. My food was ready for pick up, and so i hopped back to my car to take my bucket of wings home. Sadly my dusty, dry, fried chicken tasted like 2 day old chicken. I will never come back to bonchon for take out. I used to go to BBQ Chicken in Northern blvd but they closed down and now they only have a store in Astoria. First time trying Bonchon and I was really happy we ordered from here!! Was craving udon one night and decided to try it from Bonchon since I was craving wings too. The udon was pretty good, the broth was not too heavy and there was a good amount of noodles in it. As for the wings; we ordered half spicy and half soy garlic. The spicy was pretty spicy I have to admit which was yummy. The soy garlic however, can use a little work, I couldn't really taste the soy garlic. We also ordered takoyaki, and it was pretty good as well. They supplied us with a small container of radish so thank you so much for that because I can literally eat all of that in one sitting. Another thing we ordered that was delish was the japchae, I wasn't expecting it to taste so damn good!! Overall, I would like to give this place another chance and try to dine in. Ordered 20 wings in soy garlic delivered by Uber Eats. The chicken was still really crispy even with a 20 min commute to my house, I had to eat it with some sushi rice since it's too salty for me. A piece of pickled radish was quite refreshing after every wing. I don't have any issue with the size of the chicken wings and drums since it's the same size as the ones I get from WFs. Smaller chickens are higher quality, not as tough as the big ones but they are hard to cook so sometimes it can come out dry. So BonChon did a great job cooking them but I'm sure there will be a few occasions where it might be dry since they're so small. This time.. they were cooked perfectly.. By the time I was ready for my bill the person who brought out my food had left for the the night so this other girl brought out my bill and made sure to hover over me and TELL me to write the tip on the receipt (that didn't sit well with me) so I decided not to tip. They were still pretty crispy. The soy garlic wings are my favorite. It was very flavorful. The spicy wings were painfully delicious; painful because it burned my tongue and made my eyes watered. One thing they could be improved on is the cooking time for smaller chicken wings. I have been ordering from Bonchon for quite some time now, so it's only right I review this place. I ordered a 20 piece Soy Garlic wings, with Seasoned French Fries and Pickled Radish. I have to say, these are one of the best wings I've ever had. The wings were crunchy and tender, the fries were delicious and flavorful, and the pickled radish gave my entire order that hint of bitterness that completed my whole meal. First thing to note before anything: the chicken. It is not the best Korean Fried Chicken. It is mediocre compared to some of the other places nearby. Now that THATS taken care of, let's talk about the Pork Belly Buns. Yum-ME!! Perfect combination. Their Korean Tacos are pretty good too. VERY complex and tasty. We had the Takoyaki as well on this visit and it was surprisingly different. Like, good different. The staff were accommodating, very friendly and knew what to recommend. Tasty wings! Very crispy and with just the right amount of sauce! Got the soy garlic wings and they were savory - rest assured you won't be missing any flavor if you decide not to go the spicy route. The house fried rice, to which we added bulgogi, was also delicious. Random, and I won't be dropping any stars for this as it's my own personal (and perhaps unusual, to some) preference: When dining out, I like to squeeze lemon into my water. Our server told me they don't have lemons. :( Now onto some nice conveniences. Decently sized parking lot (not huge but not tight or super small). Doesn't feel cramped inside - nice walking space. :) And I love that there's a sink right outside (as well as inside) the bathrooms. Bc let's be honest, if you're eating the wings, you'll probably get a little messy with your hands. But no worries - the sink, soap, and hand dryer are all a short walk away, and you don't even have to go inside the bathroom! I really appreciate this idea. The staff is friendly however, one of the girls seemed very in a hurry to take our order lol - it was uncomfortable... We ordered bunch of wings combo with bones/boneless . Half spicy and half soy garlic. The spicy marination is super hot it will make you sweat ~ bear in mind when you're ordering- they don't have spice level unfortunately. I prefer getting the soy garlic which is tasty!! Also, ordered the shrimp shumei instead of the fried we ordered it steamed. It was good just didn't like the drizzled sauce on it. The Tteokbokki was a big proportion and super cheesy and lots of sauce which you can share!! The fried rice we ordered when we ordered in!! I've always wanted to visit this relatively new Bonchon near Auburndale Queens. I got the chance to visit for a birthday gathering. Since this location is fairly new, the restaurant was very clean and modern. We were escorted to our seats by a waiter. What was initially confusing was that we saw an ordering counter at first and thought that maybe this was a fast food style Bonchon where you order your food and carry it to a table. That wasn't the case. We decided to order a combo of wings and drums, one with soy garlic and the other spicy. We also ordered tteokbokki and a side of seasoned french fries. For those who already know what Bonchon is about I would say the way to correctly rate a Bonchon chicken is by the thin glasslike crispiness of the skin and by the sauce. On this count, I've had better Bonchon experiences, but this was still okay in my book. The sauce was a little heavier other Bonchons I've been to but it was still good. The spicy wings, especially has a higher than normal heat to it which was very pleasant. As for the other dishes, they were done well, especially the fries which were satisfyingly savory. There were tons and garlic and cheese flavor to be had. Service was pretty good at this Bonchon and the prices are what you could expect for Korean fried chicken, figure about $2 and above per piece. I have always loved eating Bonchon fried chicken, and this is my first time to try this specific place. I specifically chose to eat this day on this specific place because it's Valentine's Day and my wife LOVES Bonchon's Soy garlic fried chicken. So, it was a cold February night, arrived at this place, pleasantly surprised that they have enough car parking area for the costumers. Me and my wife went in, place was spotless, neat and clean, but I immediately noticed that the temperature inside was not that far different from the cold temperature outside. I was thinking that maybe my body still feels cold as we just came from outside, I did not immediately took off my winter coat as I was waiting for my body to warm up. We ordered house fried rice and half and half fried chicken ( soy garlic and spicy soy garlic), and Jap chae then we matched it with my wife's seltzer and a Brooklyn lager beer for me, after I ordered I immediately informed the server that it is very cold inside their restaurant, she told me that their heater was already on. So, all our food was served and we ate (while still wearing our winter coat, the only time my wife took her coat off was for a photo opportunity as we will be using it for this Yelp review). We were done eating and we were in a hurry to leave because of the cold room temperature. My wife and I have no issue with the food quality that they offered and served, but the problem was that, from the moment we went in until we left we felt "very cold" inside their restaurant. Service was below acceptable, waitstaff never checked on our needs from the time that the food was served until we are done with our meal, I would have understood it if the place was packed with costumers,but there were just two couples (costumers) including us in the restaurant. I had to get the waitstaff's attention to get our bill. I just believe that when you are in a food business, "comfort" for the costumer and "honesty" from their employees are some of the factors that the business should consider. If the heater was really turned on according to the employee, it should have warmed up inside the restaurant during the whole time that we were there. Anybody reading this, I hope, should not get me wrong because I am just being fair on my assessment with my experience on this specific place, "costumer satisfaction" is another factor that this business place have to consider, which at the time that we went there, this place is greatly lacking of. I just hope that any other costumer who comes here does not experience what my wife and I experienced. The gal at the counter was as perfunctory and disinterested as imaginable ; on a blisteringly hot day , I was provided with a small cup of water that perhaps met the absolute minimum standards for NYC restaurants ..... Looking into the kitchen , I noticed her helper placed my requested knife on his countertop , instead of simply bringing it to me first ... clean ! ...... Oh yes , the overpriced barbecue nuggets ! ..... a bit sweeter than the cashier is the best I can say ! When leaving, no " Thank You , come again " .......... I have been a personal fan of the Bon Chon chain of restaurants for many years now. So, I was so happy when a new location opened on Northern Blvd about five months ago. Yes, I agree that this neighborhood is already saturated with Korean fried chicken joints. In my opinion, most of them aren't as family friendly as they tend to be more bar type settings that serve alcohol. This location is more of a fast-casual type restaurant and is very family friendly. We visited for the first time in early March, prior to the lockdown and was very impressed. The restaurant is very clean, bright and welcoming. The décor is modern looking with plenty of tables and booths. I think it was smart of them to have a sink near the bathrooms where you can wash your hands before and after your meal. Currently, you can only place orders by phone for pick up or delivery. They have a great offer going on right now for a Family Meal for $34. This comes with 12 wings, 4 drumsticks, 2 sides and 1 plain fried rice. It's a pretty good bargain for this amount of food. We've also tried their bulgogi tacos, crispy chicken sliders and their seasoned fries. I love their wings. The soy garlic flavor is fantastic, and the meat was very tender and juicy. I love the crunch of the chicken with savory and sweet sauce. The bulgogi tacos come 3 per order and had marinated ribeye, crispy julienned lettuce, coleslaw and topped with spicy mayo. I really enjoy this dish. The coleslaw was a nice balance to the marinated ribeye. The crispy chicken sliders also come 3 per order and had fried chicken breast with cucumber, onions and spicy mayo. This location has its own parking lot which is a huge plus for this neighborhood. I find the staff to be very friendly and attentive. This location is now my go-to Korean fried chicken place. During the covid-19 outbreak you quarantine. You stay away from all your favorite places, restaurants are closed, small businesses are struggling. It's always a good time to do your part to support small businesses. Bonchon I'm fairly sure is a franchise. Making a drive all the way from south Brooklyn (sheepshead bay to be exact) to northern queens the food better be good. The food was amazing. Staff were pleasant and I waited outside to avoid getting sick or possibly catching something from the staff or other patrons who were picking up. Yassssss, Bonchon is in da house!! There are definitely other Korean Fried Chicken places in Flushing, but this one fills a void in Auburndale, a bit aways from Murray Hill and Bayside. Their spicy chicken Korean Tacos? Good. Their Sweet Crunch flavored KFC? Good. Their Hot and Spicy flavored KFC? Good. Even their pretty standard onion rings? Good. I prefer their pickled radish to their coleslaw. Either way, eat them for the palate cleanser and you'll want the fiber. Sauces, they have ketchup, spicy mayo, honey mustard, and ranch sauce available. Bonchon changed up a lot since they first came to town many years ago, but seems mostly for the better. Their decor and style is modern and their signature super-crunchy double-fried chicken is always on spot. Their boneless strips look different, but their so much more satisfying in the crunchiness and easy to share. Their hot and soy garlic flavors are still deliciously the same, and I'm digging their newer sweet flavor - and yes, you can still order half and half! This new Bonchon has a very modern decor and plenty of lighting inside as well as tables. Although they have a big base of competitors since there are other great Korean fried chicken joints in the area, they are definitely up there. They also have their own parking lot, making it convenient to stop by whether to sit in or take out. The service was also really good. The food came out much quicker than I expected and the staff was friendly. If you come here, you have to get the Korean fried chicken. That's just a must! They have 3 flavors to choose from: spicy, soy garlic, and sweet crunch. I prefer the classic soy garlic but if you want some spice, the spicy would also be good. The sweet crunch has an oddly sweet flavor that I didn't enjoy as much. The fried chicken comes out hot and crispy with juicy meat underneath the crispy skin. Even with the sauce, it maintained its crunch. There are also other items available on the menu such as fried rice, dumplings, fries, and more. I tried the seasoned fries which were crispy but had a slightly sweet flavor. I also found the bulgogi sliders to be mediocre. There wasn't much meat inside and it was only slightly warm.
