This place is extremely overpriced for no reason. We got the rosé tteokbokki and it was around $30. The base tteokbokki is around $19, if you want rosé flavor, its an extra $6 and we added on ramen which was an extra $3. Tteokbokki is considered street food and its literally rice & fish cakes. And they give you 3 pieces of ginmari. No reason it should be $19. Then for rosé flavor, which is literally just adding heavy cream to the sauce, is an extra $6. Then we ordered the 10 wing + 5 drumstick combo and we asked for half/half sauce assuming half of the 15 pieces are one sauce and the second half is another sauce. First off, they charge you $2 for sauce, which is fine but tell me why they charged us $2 FOUR times. So $8 total for sauce bc they separated the 10 wings into 5 and 5 and put one sauce each and they charged $2 each for that. And then they separated the 5 drumsticks into 3 and 2 and put one sauce each and charged $2 each for that. So total for 10 wings & 5 drumsticks was around $44. I've literally been to every korean fried chicken place on northern blvd and never have they separated the chicken like that and charged the sauces that way. Like why are you charging us for sauce 4 times when it is one single order of chicken. Never coming back here. Its a legit rip off. On top of that, they charge you for to-go containers, which is free at every restaurant. They just charge you exorbitant prices for literally every single thing here. We went to Mr. Dak, and it was a nice spot to sit, eat Korean fried chicken, drink, and catch up. The atmosphere was chill and comfortable, and the food overall was pretty good. I think we got there right around opening, so the staff wasn't at the counter when we walked in. There was already a family seated, so we seated ourselves and grabbed menus. Once the staff realized we were there, they quickly brought us water and utensils, and from then on, they were friendly and helpful, especially when we added more items after placing our initial order. We got the special combo, which came with the three-flavor special. We chose Cheese Snow, Crunch Tiger, and Truffle Dance. All three flavors were different and good in their way. Cheese Snow was my favorite. It was coated in a layer of powdered cheese that gave it a sweet and savory flavor combo that worked well. Crunch Tiger brought the heat with a topping of spicy cornflakes, and Truffle Dance had a strong truffle flavor that was also solid. The combo also included ddukbokki, which had a nice chewy texture and flavor, and kimmari, which was packed with glass noodles and crispy. We added an extra combo of sides, which came with fries, corn, and coleslaw, all served hot and fresh. We also tried the seafood pancake, but I didn't love it--it was thicker than I expected, and I usually prefer a thinner, crispier version. The fries with cheese sauce were good, but you'll want to eat them quickly before the cheese starts to harden. We had the boneless chicken instead of the wings or the drums as my husband read other reviews saying it's meatier than the wings. We had it with the spicy yam nyum sauce and the soy garlic and yum!! It was very good! I prefer the soy garlic better as the yam nyum sauce was a bit too sweet for me. The pieces were big and meaty with loads of flavor. I would love it to be slightly crispier however. Flushing Meadows literally has many authentic Chicken Beer Korean restaurants all over, but one small hole in the wall stands out above the rest due to one thing: the spicy fried chicken. We came in during the Mets playoffs and the place was about 1/2 packed with small groups hanging watching the game. We grabbed a table and checked out the menu and opted for a drumstick wing combo. The combo came with large drum sticks and a mix of drumettes and flats - The fried chicken was fairly solid. I usually like the soy Garlic flavor, but surprisingly enjoyed the spicy red lvl 2 sauce better - it had a good amount of heat with sweetness. The corn salad and cole slaw were a very refreshing contrast to the spicy wings. I also really enjoyed the potato wedges that we upgraded to with the combo. I enjoyed it all with Allagash White from their decent draft selection. There was a dude (Mr. Dak?) walking around serving people and making sure everyone had all they needed. The vibe was pretty cool here. You can see from the photos they a bluish/purple light theme going on.
