We arrived shortly after 11 AM and was surprised that there were a bunch of people waiting for their orders in the front area. We were dining-in and were instructed to take any seat. The person in front was pretty good. We got a greeting and he smiled. The other person however, didn't seem as chipper. I had to flag him down as he was busy looking at his phone and we were kinda in a hurry. We ordered a bi bim bap and a chicken katsu. The food came out pretty fast and it was hot. The food was cooked well so not a whole lot to complain about there. As other patrons came in, we heard that there was a Lunar New Year promotion going on. The yangnyeom chicken 9 piece $16 looked soggy inside of the paper box container. Other fried chicken restaurants have holes in the container so the chicken stays crispy. Surprisingly it was still a bit crunchy when I ate it. My house is only 10 minutes away. This is my first time trying their yangnyeom flavor. It is supposed to be sweet and spicy. It was only sweet and the spiciness was not present. This goes well with beer. There's hints of soy and garlic in the sauce. I would order this again but best enjoyed in the restaurant to retain the crispiness. The omurice $14 was meh. I don't think they know what an omurice is. Bonchon's version is fried rice with an egg on top. It is supposed to be an omelette with fried rice inside. It does take some skills to create this dish correctly with the thinness of the egg sheet and obviously not present at this location. The fried rice was a bit soggy. This needs improvement. My suggestion would be to have different options for this dish and make it correctly as an omelette dish. How about adding a demi-glace or white sauce option to make it more Asian? Bonchon cheated me last night. I ordered their "Wing Deal for 2"--Only $20! I was seduced by the flyer in their window which states "10 WINGS + 2 FRIES" and shows a photo of the wings and fries. The lady who took my to-go order asked what sides I wanted, and I thought, "Wow! I get sides, too! This is a good deal!" So I asked for pickled radish. She said it'd be 15 minutes for the food to be ready, but I waited close to 30 minutes. That's okay, I'm usually a pretty patient person. When I get home, my BF opens the box. BF: "What do you want to eat with the wings?" ME: "The fries." BF: "What fries?" ME: !!! So, he called Bonchon to ask what to do about the missing fries; should he bring the receipt back to the store, etc. They said, "No, your order is correct, the fries aren't missing. Bonchon was one of the first Korean fried chicken places in the Bay Area and used to be my favorite Korean fried chicken place because the fried breading is unique in that it's not very heavily breaded or thinly breaded. I love the spicy flavor the most followed by the original soy. The sauces are not overly drippy unless other places so I like it. The only problem I have with Bonchon is that it's very inconsistent. Sometimes the drumsticks are huge (almost turkey sized) but other times are much smaller. The chicken sometimes is very moist but other times way too dry. However I still recommend anyone who hasn't tried Bonchon to try it at least once even though there are now many Korean fried chicken places around because the flavor and breading here is unique. This is in a strip mall with a supermarket so parking can be annoying but you should eventually be able to find a place after circling for a while. Bonchon used to be super popular but nowadays you never have to wait for seating. Unfortunately they removed the lunch special and the Bonchon apps (both) are not good so order directly or through something like snack pass. read more

Came late in the afternoon so the restaurant only had a couple tables occupied. The server greeted me as I walked in and asked me where I'd like to sit. Option 1 or option 2. I picked one and she proceeded to pull the table together for my party of 5. I've had Bonchon at family parties and it has been good. Came here on a Friday night and got the bulgogi fries and 10 piece boneless wings. Overall I was super disappointed with both. The bulgogi fries were super sparse and came on a huge plate. If they are going to not give many fries I would suggest putting it on a smaller plate to make it look like a larger portion. The boneless wings were extremely small and very average tasting. They tasted like they could've come from a frozen bag sadly. This is my favorite bonchon chicken location. However, I my last visit I've noticed a huge change with the food items. I ordered the 10pc boneless chicken. I got home with it an opened the box and was surprised at how SMALL they all were. They were like round balls. Maybe I missed something and should have ordered the chicken strips? I'm biting into it and noticed that it's not even all chicken. It's thick breading all around and the chicken itself is less than half the volume. What I'm eating is not chicken, just fried balls of bread. Unacceptable. I'm not sure I would come back to Bonchon chicken. My last review on this chicken joint was back in 2017, but Bonchon definitely deserves a "real" review. I've kept my previous review honest and concise, but it wasn't as thorough as my typical Yelp reviews. In the past several years, I've made numerous Bonchon trips and taken excessive number of pics. Yet, I failed to lay it down with pride for the Bonchon squad! Bonchon delivers the most unique and enjoyable chicken "experience" out there. This joint never ceases to amaze me! The way that their wings (especially, their wings) are fried gives off the impression that they're serving chicken on a different level. This level is so different that it doesn't feel as if you're just snacking on just chicken anymore. Bonchon is indeed, an experience where one is devouring an addictingly light, yet starchy, seasoned and crisp potato batter which safeguards the integrity of another crispy and juicy piece of meat inside, called, the "wing". It's that deep, it's like eating 2 snacks in one! The experience makes me think of how all that starchy goodness came to be. The starchy batter just bubbles around the wing like my favorite Hong Kong Style Pork Chop from Superstar and Gateway. Except with the way Bonchon double-fries their wings, they've made it to an art and a science. In fact, I just learned that their wings are literally, "handbrushed" with their famous glaze. Life made sense to me after learning this. I'm convinced that Bonchon's frying techniques have made them beyond comparison even to other Korean chicken spots like Von's and Ks Premium Chicken (inside Kukje Supermarket - Daly City). That's how deep I'm going. The closest that I could remember where a cook actually prepares their wings close this level are the fryers at my local KFC (1990's KFC Hot Wings) and my late Grandma's Jumbo Crisco-Fried Chicken (and possibly with the addition of a little Aji-No-Moto and Trans Lard in there). You get the picture. Eating Bonchon's Wings doesn't even feel like you're eating at a local Wingstop or Hooters. If I want a quick-fix for "wings", I'll go to those spots. But if I want starchy, glazed goodness (and wings), I'll choose, "Bonchon". Forget the fries, their wings are 2 snacks in 1. In my last visit I ordered, "half-n-half". One half was the Yangnyeom and the other was their famous, Soy-Garlic. I've had Yangnyeom in other spots for comparison, but I'd still recommend Bonchon's Soy Garlic as a safe bet. Yangnyeom can be "adventurous" for some since it's reminiscent to a wing immersed in a spicy, rich sauce with a similar consistency to tomato paste (probably from the gochujang). While Bonchon's Yangnyeom isn't "bad", it can be surprisingly spicy for those who are accustomed to their Soy Garlic. Also, if you dislike the thought of wings being "pre-ketchuped", then this flavor isn't for you. I was just there yesterday, and I even supplemented my wing order with Bulgogi Fried Rice. I forgot that I've ordered this dish in the past but Sunday's fried rice hit hard! The beef strips were rather large and tender. The flavors were not overbearingly sweet from the bulgogi marinade. I enjoyed the sizable amount of peppers and onions. And you already know you're getting bomb fried rice when you take that first dig-in. When that dig-in has a scoopful of rice grains majestically clumped together you know it's fried right and it's just ready to be shoveled in your mouth. I'll be honest the Bulgogi Fried Rice took me by surprise. If you know me well enough, Chinese food is my jam. However, my recent experiences with Chinese fried rice have been pretty lame. My typical fried rice orders normally come from from hole in the walls and/or steam tables. Especially with the Bulgogi Fried Rice, I definitely felt that got what I paid for (about $15) and that this dish ultimately fulfilled my desire for a fresh and comforting plate of carby goodness. Having this dish just made perfect sense. The table and seating arrangements are basic. It appears to accommodate up to 25 customers. I have been going here ever since it opened.  It is a little pricey but so worth it.   When you walk in the place is pretty big and clean.  You are greeted right away upon walking in.   This time around, we ordered online for pick up and ordered a few items we haven't tried.      We ordered: 1.  Bulgogi fries - I was surprised how good it was.   I wasn't expecting much since they are known for their chicken. 2. Potstickers - Crunchy and soft in the middle. I love how they drizzle the sauce on top. 3.   Popcorn shrimp - of course, the shrimp was not the biggest, but it was so addictive. Something about the batter being crunchy and chewy, once you eat one, you can't stop. 4.   House fried rice (bulgogi) - very flavorful, but the rice was a little too sticky to my liking and a little too sweet. 5.  Korean Fried Chicken with soy glaze - Alwaus got you smacking. It's so crunchy and not overly saucey. This goes great with the pickled radish. 6.   Korean donuts - I don't know why, but I had high expectations.  I was disappointed.  It was just a regular sugar doughnut. Something has changed. BonChon used to be our go to Dash order. Always fast service, delicious hot moist crispy wings that only got better as leftovers. Savory fries and delicious potstickers have always been a hit. The last couple of times we've ordered something has felt off. On our last order on Father's Day, we decided to try the boneless wings and some fries, one of those potato mozzarella sticks, street corn, slaw and potstickers. Everything arrived cold, like it had been sitting out and it tasted like old oil. The street corn had a glop of hard melted cheese in it and was too much garlic in it we couldn't eat it. Yesterday ordered togo from bonchon for lunch. I ordered the Korean corn dog that had mozzarella cheese and no hot dog meat. It was wrapped with potato cubes seasoned with cinnamon sugar. It was soooooooooo good! The dipping sauce I grabbed was ranch. I also ordered seasoned fries. Was not a fan of the fries. Because I ordered from the door dash app. I guess I can say that the service was good. They packaged the food in two separate bags. The seasoned fries bag was completely soaked at the bottom. They're good when they're fresh, the skin is crispy, but it can get soggy pretty quickly. And the meat is quite dry. Been meaning to try this franchise before they franchised and finally got around to it. So you know I'm expecting it to be really good! We got a special meal they were offering which consisted of 4 wings and 2 large drums soy garlic flavor (1 flavor only), gyozas, bulgogi fries, and Korean street corn. This korean chicken is actually very flavorful! Bonchon chicken has a specific taste that no other foodchains have which makes it unique. Their other sides are also really good especially their fried rice. The service is very fast & they usually get busy on the weekends & early during the day. We came around closing time on a weekday that's why there wasn't much customers. Parking can be hard since this restaurant is located inside Westborough plaza. Nothing really special with the ambiance for me, but the quality of their food is what makes this place good. read more

Actually, l ordered Udon and Fried chicken and one of the other menu a type of mixed noodle one. First of all Udon seemed to be made with noodles were dumped in soy sauce water and fried chicken was sprinkled with salt and the other one was too sweet, a lots of sugar in that food. I totally disappointed in that restaurant and especially " The menu". I wouldn't recommend to anyone. I am totally not sure if the owner was really Korean. I've never seen a restaurent so called with Korean name, " Bonchon".
