    Soy Garlic Wings
    Anh T.

My friends and I ordered delivery from this Bonchon location. While we waited a bit for our order to arrive, they were still warm and delicious when they arrived! The seasoned fries were okay; while they were crispy and well-seasoned, we did not find anything extra or unique about these fries. However, I loved the wings! We tried their soy garlic wings. They were super crispy on the outside with a classic soy garlic glaze that was savory, slightly sweet, and packed with flavor.

"Wing Deal for 2": When they ask you what side you want, be aware that they consider the fries as a side. ‍

Bonchon cheated me last night. I ordered their "Wing Deal for 2"--Only $20! I was seduced by the flyer in their window which states "10 WINGS + 2 FRIES" and shows a photo of the wings and fries. The lady who took my to-go order asked what sides I wanted, and I thought, "Wow! I get sides, too! This is a good deal!" So I asked for pickled radish. She said it'd be 15 minutes for the food to be ready, but I waited close to 30 minutes. That's okay, I'm usually a pretty patient person. When I get home, my BF opens the box. BF: "What do you want to eat with the wings?" ME: "The fries." BF: "What fries?" ME: !!! So, he called Bonchon to ask what to do about the missing fries; should he bring the receipt back to the store, etc. They said, "No, your order is correct, the fries aren't missing. We didn't charge you for them. You asked for pickled radish INSTEAD of fries." Nothing we can do about it. End of conversation. Seriously!!! Why would I pay $20 for 10 wings + pickled radish and NO fries when I can get the better regular deal of $15 for 8 wings with pickled radish already included! Plus, the flyer clearly shows and states "+ 2 FRIES." Why didn't the lady just ask me if I wanted to SUBSTITUTE a different side instead of the fries in the deal? Of course, I want the fries! Now that I've posted the flyer here, I'm sure it will attract some customers. But, Fellow Yelpers, heed my folly and be wary of this precarious deal. Bonchon, you let me down.

South SanFrancisco location Bonchon Greetings to all, this location of Bonchon is located in the mini strip mall near the Pacific Market at the top of Westborough hill. It has a shared parking lot with the other businesses that use the same lot with wheelchair access to the restaurant itself , at times, the parking spaces can fill quickly in the area which the Bonchon is located. The inside of this location has a very modest seating capacity and could use bit more lighting to brighten up the place; but l like it here the way it is. The service is on point and always has been every since I have been coming to this location, l especially like the fact that when I say can get (40 or 90 wings in 1 flavor ) for a Party , and the response is 20 minutes ; I am completely ecstatic. My goto Flavor is always the Sticky finger licking good tasty Hot ones. Mmmm Nice job and keep up the good work.

Ordered the 8 piece wings with spicy sauce and the coleslaw as my side. Ordered on site and was ready within 15 minutes on a drizzly foggy day at 5: 52 pm on a Sunday. Business was slow as there was only one party dining in. This is my normal take out order unless others in our group would be eating this item. Pictured is a previous order where we had bulgogi sliders and wings with spicy flavor and the other half with soy garlic. Food is always consistent so that is one of the reasons we come back when we have a craving for Korean chicken on the go.

I haven't been inside the restaurant yet, but I've ordered from Bonchon South San Francisco multiple times through food delivery and their chicken definitely lives up to the hype. The flavor and crunch are unmatched. Their combo meal is an excellent deal for what you get, and the drumsticks are double the size of a normal one. The corn is also surprisingly amazing with how buttery, sweet, and perfectly seasoned it is. Everything has been consistent every time I've ordered.

Bonchon has been my go-to place for chicken wings for a while now. My personal favorite is the soy garlic flavor with radish side dish. I've also tried the spicy chicken wings, but I must warn you, they're extremely spicy! The kimchi fried rice is equally delicious. I had a great experience with this Bonchon location. I ordered from the app and went inside to pick up my food. The customer service was excellent. While this Bonchon location is good, it's not the best. For some reason, the Bonchon chicken wings in Sunnyvale taste much better.

Bonchon is a classic fried chicken chain throughout the states. This was my first time dining at this specific location. We decided to stop by on a Friday night for a party of 3. Upon arrival, we got seated quickly as there were plenty of open tables. First thing that greeted us was the sticky tables. We tried to move tables, but it seemed as if every other table was sticky so we decided to just grin and bare it. I didn't think it was uncleanly, however now thinking back, it could be the wax/coating coming off of their tables. Still, the sensation was quite unpleasant. What we ordered is outlined below: Large wing, split into two flavors (soy garlic and spicy): 4.5/5, I wish the spicy wings were a tad more spicy, but nonetheless, these wings were so crispy and freshly fried. The radish complimented the wings so well with its acidity. I preferred the soy garlic over the spicy, it reminded me of the Korean wings you get at your local Korean restaurant, but better. -1 star for the sticky tables; otherwise wings were tasty and I would definitely get take out for next time. Great price point. Staff were friendly.

Bonchon was one of the first Korean fried chicken places in the Bay Area and used to be my favorite Korean fried chicken place because the fried breading is unique in that it's not very heavily breaded or thinly breaded. I love the spicy flavor the most followed by the original soy. The sauces are not overly drippy unless other places so I like it. The only problem I have with Bonchon is that it's very inconsistent. Sometimes the drumsticks are huge (almost turkey sized) but other times are much smaller. The chicken sometimes is very moist but other times way too dry. However I still recommend anyone who hasn't tried Bonchon to try it at least once even though there are now many Korean fried chicken places around because the flavor and breading here is unique. This is in a strip mall with a supermarket so parking can be annoying but you should eventually be able to find a place after circling for a while. Bonchon used to be super popular but nowadays you never have to wait for seating. Unfortunately they removed the lunch special and the Bonchon apps (both) are not good so order directly or through something like snack pass.

Was sampling chicken wings to try to decide from where to order for a party and Bonchon was one of my places. I got the half and half order with eight wings in two different flavors (soy garlic and spicy) and a side of pickled radish ($16.55). They were pretty good, but the spicy didn't seem to have enough flavor for me; it was spicy but didn't have enough sweetness to it. The soy garlic was good, though. It's hard to decide where the best wings are in this town with lots of different types and offerings and it gets pretty expensive trying to sample them all! The guy behind the counter was great and very helpful! Love it when customer service is up to par!

Came late in the afternoon so the restaurant only had a couple tables occupied. The server greeted me as I walked in and asked me where I'd like to sit. Option 1 or option 2. I picked one and she proceeded to pull the table together for my party of 5. My kids and I eagerly sat down and when I sat down my chair was wet (*ughh) so I walked to the service stand and asked for napkins. Got back to the table and kids said the table was sticky... I asked the server if she could wipe down the table and she said "oh the table is still dirty" -__- *hmmmm why did she ask me if I wanted to sit at a dirty table as opposed to directing me to a clean one? We ordered a wing and drum combo and I thought it was tasty. My teenage daughter said she likes wing stop better anyway she walked up to ask for some ranch and they brought out a 2 oz size cup (only 75% full) to her and didn't say anything. Later one of my other kids got up and asked for another... When my bill came I was charged $2 for ranch. Would've been nice if the server announced that they charge $1 for ranch.

This was my first time trying out Bonchon. My wife and I dined here on a Tuesday evening. There were several other diners (about five other tables seated). The service at this location was fast and the food came out promptly, even with all of the take out orders. The wings were crispy, as expected of Korean style wings, and tasty. Portion size was ample considering these are wings. The bulgogi fries were not as hot (temperature) as I feel they should have been and the bulgogi beef needed more flavor. There is ample parking (strip mall lot) and the restaurant appeared clean.

My last review on this chicken joint was back in 2017, but Bonchon definitely deserves a "real" review. I've kept my previous review honest and concise, but it wasn't as thorough as my typical Yelp reviews. In the past several years, I've made numerous Bonchon trips and taken excessive number of pics. Yet, I failed to lay it down with pride for the Bonchon squad! Bonchon delivers the most unique and enjoyable chicken "experience" out there. This joint never ceases to amaze me! The way that their wings (especially, their wings) are fried gives off the impression that they're serving chicken on a different level. This level is so different that it doesn't feel as if you're just snacking on just chicken anymore. Bonchon is indeed, an experience where one is devouring an addictingly light, yet starchy, seasoned and crisp potato batter which safeguards the integrity of another crispy and juicy piece of meat inside, called, the "wing". It's that deep, it's like eating 2 snacks in one! The experience makes me think of how all that starchy goodness came to be. The starchy batter just bubbles around the wing like my favorite Hong Kong Style Pork Chop from Superstar and Gateway. Except with the way Bonchon double-fries their wings, they've made it to an art and a science. In fact, I just learned that their wings are literally, "handbrushed" with their famous glaze. Life made sense to me after learning this. I'm convinced that Bonchon's frying techniques have made them beyond comparison even to other Korean chicken spots like Von's and Ks Premium Chicken (inside Kukje Supermarket - Daly City). That's how deep I'm going. The closest that I could remember where a cook actually prepares their wings close this level are the fryers at my local KFC (1990's KFC Hot Wings) and my late Grandma's Jumbo Crisco-Fried Chicken (and possibly with the addition of a little Aji-No-Moto and Trans Lard in there). You get the picture. Eating Bonchon's Wings doesn't even feel like you're eating at a local Wingstop or Hooters. If I want a quick-fix for "wings", I'll go to those spots. But if I want starchy, glazed goodness (and wings), I'll choose, "Bonchon". Forget the fries, their wings are 2 snacks in 1. In my last visit I ordered, "half-n-half". One half was the Yangnyeom and the other was their famous, Soy-Garlic. I've had Yangnyeom in other spots for comparison, but I'd still recommend Bonchon's Soy Garlic as a safe bet. Yangnyeom can be "adventurous" for some since it's reminiscent to a wing immersed in a spicy, rich sauce with a similar consistency to tomato paste (probably from the gochujang). While Bonchon's Yangnyeom isn't "bad", it can be surprisingly spicy for those who are accustomed to their Soy Garlic. Also, if you dislike the thought of wings being "pre-ketchuped", then this flavor isn't for you. I was just there yesterday, and I even supplemented my wing order with Bulgogi Fried Rice. I forgot that I've ordered this dish in the past but Sunday's fried rice hit hard! The beef strips were rather large and tender. The flavors were not overbearingly sweet from the bulgogi marinade. I enjoyed the sizable amount of peppers and onions. And you already know you're getting bomb fried rice when you take that first dig-in. When that dig-in has a scoopful of rice grains majestically clumped together you know it's fried right and it's just ready to be shoveled in your mouth. I'll be honest the Bulgogi Fried Rice took me by surprise. If you know me well enough, Chinese food is my jam. However, my recent experiences with Chinese fried rice have been pretty lame. My typical fried rice orders normally come from from hole in the walls and/or steam tables. Especially with the Bulgogi Fried Rice, I definitely felt that got what I paid for (about $15) and that this dish ultimately fulfilled my desire for a fresh and comforting plate of carby goodness. Having this dish just made perfect sense. The table and seating arrangements are basic. It appears to accommodate up to 25 customers. I normally take my orders to go, but when I've dined in in the past, it had been a decent experience. Bonchon still at 5 stars!

I've had Bonchon at family parties and it has been good. Came here on a Friday night and got the bulgogi fries and 10 piece boneless wings. Overall I was super disappointed with both. The bulgogi fries were super sparse and came on a huge plate. If they are going to not give many fries I would suggest putting it on a smaller plate to make it look like a larger portion. The boneless wings were extremely small and very average tasting. They tasted like they could've come from a frozen bag sadly. Overall the service was good but for the quality of the food I will not be back.

There is hair in my bowl of rice that came with my chicken.

It seemed there was only one person who was the hostess, taking orders, and delivering the food. I give her mad props. With the dinner rush she was all over it. I placed my order for to go, she was super helpful, gave me her recommendations, and she had a smile on her face with everyone she encountered. This place has seemed to have gotten an elevated, more modern face lift/ renovation compared to the restaurant that used to be here. I was surprised that they didn't have standard sushi rolls that I'm usually accustomed to, but from the rolls that I've tried here... change is good. I ordered: 1. Corn tempura: First time seeing this, I love both corn and tempura. Had to see what it was about. It was perfection. Now it makes me wonder why this has never been done. 2. California roll: Standard staple and was good. 3. Warriors roll: It's an interesting combo, all items that I like.. first bite you're hit with a flavor explosion. At times I felt I couldn't taste the shrimp tempura, but the crunch from the crunchy onion ties it all together. 4. Beef steak: She recommended me to try this first before trying the daily special or short rib. She did not disappoint with this recommendation. The beef was so tender and flavorful. Overall, a great experience. I will definitely be back for more. I forgot to take pictures, because we inhaled the food so fast.

Upon entering the restaurant, it is a small space. There were two hostess/waitresses going around, but they were more focused on the customers already dining in so we were standing there for about 10 minutes before anyone noticed us. And honestly, they only realized we were there when a family of 6 came in after us. For some reason, that family of 6 was seated before we were. I guess they didn't have enough small tables so we ended up sitting at the counter near the bathroom. Here's what we got: - Chashu ramen (for me) - Dragon roll (to share) - Tempura udon (his) - Lion king roll (to share) Zach and I both got noodle dishes and shared the two rolls. Our noodles came first and then the rolls. The ramen was pretty standard and tasted fine. We also felt that the bowls were fairly small. The lion king roll though, we had to send it back because the salmon on top was only seared and I was 3 months pregnant at the time. My husband informed one of the waitresses that we needed a fully cooked Lion King roll. She took that away and a new (?) one was brought out about 10 minutes later. Between the two rolls, the dragon roll tasted better in freshness. Would I jump at the chance to come back here? Probably not. The service wasn't off to a good start and the food was just okay.

Filipino food served here has the flavor of home but this restaurant has kicked up the taste of Pinoy food up a notch! (Or several notches) They have tickled our palate as well as our eyes to enjoy new ways of eating original Pinoy food. Pinoys being adventurous in their culinary skills like to mix a little surprise element in their food. For example, serving an open faced lumpiang sariwa with fried lumpia wrappers on a mound of vegetables with a sauce that is likened to a salsa like concoction but really a sweet brown sauce for fresh lumpia! I was a very happy customer that I ordered the kare kare (their best seller) to take home.

The San Francisco Bay Area has to be one of the most vibrant food destinations on the planet…read more Within a short drive, your culinary passport can take you from Mexico to Japan, Italy to India, the Philippines to Vietnam...and today...THAILAND. No TSA. No baggage fees. No middle seat. So here we are in South San Francisco at White Elephant Restaurant, ready for a little culinary tourism. First up...Papaya Salad aka Som Tum. Fresh, crunchy green papaya, beans, and peanuts delivered that wonderful Thai balance of sweet, sour, salty, and spicy. Crisp, tangy, refreshing...and then...HELLO CHILI PEPPER!!! A perfect wake-up call for the taste buds. While perusing the menu, however, my eyes suddenly locked onto one magical word...BACON. Wait...BACON?!?!? Enter the Prawn Rolls...bacon-wrapped prawns tucked inside wonton wrappers, golden-fried and served with sweet chili sauce. Whoever decided prawns needed to be wrapped in bacon, wrapped AGAIN in wonton skin, and dropped into hot oil...I salute you. Crispy outside, juicy inside, smoky from the bacon, then sweet and spicy from the chili sauce. Every bite soothed my gushing taste buds!!! Apparently, bacon speaks fluent Thai. Next came the Basil Fish which was a medley of golden-fried snapper fillets sautéed with basil, garlic, onions, bell peppers, and chilies in a spicy red sauce. The fish remained crisp outside and tender inside, while the basil, garlic, peppers, and chilies created this wonderful aromatic combination of savory, spicy goodness. Soooo goooood!!! But you can't dine at a Thai restaurant without ordering curry and I'm pretty sure that's somewhere in the international dining rulebook. Our Red Curry with Beef arrived simmering with beef, bamboo shoots, basil, bell peppers, and coconut milk. One spoonful...and there it was. That wonderful velvety richness of coconut milk balancing the curry's heat and umami depth with subtle sweetness. Rich without becoming heavy, spicy without requiring emergency assistance. You GOTTA order this one. And don't forget the rice! The Crab Fried Rice mingled succulent crab meat with fragrant jasmine rice, delivering sweet crab flavor among beautifully seasoned grains. It wasn't merely a side dish. It was the supporting actor stealing scenes from the movie. Finally...Thai Mango Sticky Rice. Sweet ripe mango, chewy glutinous rice, coconut milk, and coconut cream. After an evening of sweet, sour, salty, spicy, crispy, garlicky, and bacony goodness, this dessert arrived like a massage therapist saying..."You've had a long evening. I'll take it from here." Sweet, creamy, tropical, and refreshing. Overall: 5 stars. The Som Tum woke up the palate. The Prawn Rolls proved bacon improves international diplomacy. The Basil Fish delivered crispy, spicy goodness. The Red Curry with Beef brought coconut-rich comfort. The Crab Fried Rice satisfied, and the Mango Sticky Rice landed the plane. White Elephant has been part of the South San Francisco dining landscape for more than 20 years, and I hope we're eating here for another 20. Culinary passport stamped. Bacon discovered. Curry consumed. Taste buds satisfied. Come hungry...and Go Big!!!

It's a decent local Thai spot, but I did find the food to be average. It was good but underwhelming. What we ordered: Pad Thai Papaya Salad Eggrolls Mango Sticky Rice FOOD: 7/10 The food was fine overall, but nothing really stood out this time. It just didn't have that wow factor that makes me want to come back right away. It's good in a pinch if you're nearby and craving Thai food, but not super memorable compared to other spots in the Bay. SERVICE: 8/10 Service was fine and standard. The lady who served us was very nice. AMBIANCE: 7/10 The restaurant itself is casual and comfortable, with a simple, neighborhood Thai spot feel. I did really like the artwork and paintings throughout, as well as the small shrine they have, which added character and authentic culture to the space. The lighting pieces were also a nice touch. Overall, White Elephant is an okay go-to if you're nearby and want something quick and familiar, but it's not a place I'd go out of my way for.

Everything on the menu is top notch and the service is nothing short of it. All the servers are great! Eric is always the best. After trying the entire menu, I'd say the Kashiwa secret box is the best value. Always a fan of the hand rolls (especially the spicy scallop), beef teriyaki plate, and their bluefin lovers roll. Sleeper items include the mushroom tempura, the bbq squid (entire squid for $18!), and shima aji nigiri special. Ambiance is great. Very lucky to have a place so local that's Japan-tier quality. Don't sleep on this place!

The real downside - the service. The most recent visit was slow and non-existent, and we weren't able to get a table, with only one person on the floor in the front house hosting, serving, and bussing. The person was working hard, which is commendable, yet didn't acknowledge people coming in (in addition to us) with a "I'll be right with you" or "We're short-handed"...barely even a glance actually at all. Can't really fault them; they were setup to fail. We went to Soul Rice instead. There are other options.

Quail + Crane -- An Incredible Breakfast Experience…read more We stayed at the Hyatt SFO for a little staycation and received complimentary breakfast at Quail + Crane the following morning. I honestly wasn't expecting breakfast to become one of the highlights of our stay, but it absolutely did. First, the setting is beautiful. Sitting there enjoying breakfast with the gorgeous view immediately made the morning feel special. The freshly squeezed orange juice was fantastic, and I have to give an unexpected amount of praise to the fruit plate -- possibly the best fruit plate I've ever had. Everything was incredibly fresh, perfectly ripe, beautifully presented, and actually tasted as good as it looked. Then came breakfast! I ordered the Eggs Benedict with Dungeness crab, accompanied by potatoes and greens, and it was phenomenal. The eggs were beautifully prepared, there was a generous amount of crab, and everything worked perfectly together. My husband created his own omelette with bacon, ham, spinach and cheese, also with potatoes, and his meal was equally fantastic. Everything arrived fresh, hot and beautifully presented. But what really took our experience to another level was the service. Our waitress was the ONLY server working the entire room, which was completely full, and somehow she made us feel as though we were the only people in the restaurant. I genuinely don't know how she did it. She was attentive, warm, personable and never once made us feel rushed or forgotten. Watching her take care of an entire dining room while still providing that level of individual attention was impressive. She deserves tremendous recognition. We also had the pleasure of meeting Shawn, who I believe was a manager, and he embodied hospitality. He personally welcomed us, asked how our stay was going, whether we were enjoying our view and Club Level accommodations, and of course how we were enjoying the restaurant. It never felt like a scripted manager check-in. He was genuinely kind, professional and interested in our experience. That interaction stayed with us. We would happily return knowing Shawn was in the building because he made us feel that well taken care of. My only constructive feedback would be regarding our initial interaction with the host. The welcome felt noticeably less warm than the rest of our experience. We were asked to wait approximately 10 minutes despite several tables appearing to be available, and the interaction was fairly dry, without much of a greeting or smile. It wasn't a major issue, but because the hospitality from everyone else was so exceptional, the difference stood out. A warmer initial welcome would make the experience seamless from beginning to end. That said, once we were seated, Quail + Crane absolutely knocked it out of the park. Beautiful views, fantastic food, incredibly fresh ingredients and service that made an already wonderful staycation even more memorable. Shawn and our incredible waitress -- thank you. You are exactly what great hospitality looks like. We will absolutely be back.

Seating is decent depending on where you get seated and how crowded the restaurant is. When we went this time, it was much more crowded and we got seated at a tight area where servers slid behind me and another seat that was less than a foot away rather than walking around to a wider area. Service was alright and food was served promptly. No top tier service despite the price being equivalent to our experience at the Rosewood on Sand Hill. If I am paying that much, at least have the staff be able to explain each dishes and the origin of the food. Lastly, the food was worse than before. The Chilean Sea Bass was slightly overcooked. The Pad Thai and Shrimp Fried Rice were okay, since they are hard to mess up. The dumpling soup was okay and it being in a bowl made of plastic felt a little off putting considering the price. The California Roll was very expensive despite not being anything special. The cheesecake dessert also got smaller than last time and they gave less fruits than before. The only dish that tasted great this time were the Aloha Island sushi rolls, which were $34 for 4 bites. Portions are also on the smaller side at this restaurant, and having to order extra food to be full when it is already expensive is not great when the food had gone downhill. I really wanted to like this place, but I guess not. Also the manager recently changed.
