Small parking lot so you'll have to park in the Target or Mancini's area. No outdoor seating. I wanted to try their new hula guava pie. When we got home, we found that it was not included in our takeout order & I had to drive all the way back to get it corrected. Never noticed this location since the opening for the parking lot is slightly hidden in my opinion. The restaurant is clean, the service is fast and food comes out within 10-15mins. I did run into some communication issues with my order. I ordered two meals with the same exact items and somehow got different items for it and I didn't notice until after I got home. GRAND REOPENING of this Colma store with a BOGO on any place, NO LIMIT! I saw families with bags of BOGO food, in fact some of the people in front of me right 5 plates and got 5 free! They are giving out random t-shirts and bags until they run out. It's one per individual or group which means let's suppose you went there with your friend and even if you ordered separately because you were near them you may or may not get a free gift. Like I had my own order and my friend had his own order with SEPERATE bills and they would not let him get a t-shirt because he was with me, which mad no sense. Super chaotic and I'm not saying it wasn't true, but there were some old ladies who said they were suffering from heat stroke and were able to cut the line and come inside. I think they cut down on this later because it looks like they were putting a place holder. The DIY sauce line was ridiculous and so was waiting for the food with confusion with the orders when people couldn't produce their receipts half an hour later, maybe they threw them away? Not sure but there were a lot of unhappy people. My seafood platter was not fully fried enough. I had to place the fried shrimp and fish into my airfryer to fry it up more. The place was busy but the staff is very good - taking orders and getting them out. The lemon chicken was excellent- loved the flavor! Kalbi short ribs was well flavored- loved the steam cabbage that came with it. Mac salad is better than most - lots of flavor and just enough mayo. After being closed for renovations for 5 months, Ono Colma has finally reopened, and I'm stoked! I got there about 5:15 pm Friday night to take advantage of their Grand Reopening BOGO deal. The line was out the door. However, from the time I got in line to the time I left, it was only about half an hour. They were very efficient and prepared for the mass amount of people they knew they would have. I still have the same complaint though...just the one sauce station. I came by for their grand reopening BOGO. I was really impressed with how organized the event was. An employee came by to explain the promotion for those in line. From joining a ~20 person line to getting the food was about 30 minutes. I was surprised how good the food - this place had never been on my radar. I'd recommend dining in to appreciate how well fried their chicken katsu is. It is a bit pricey but they are generous with the protein and I had a good amount for takeaway. I think the menu is confusing and overwhelming where the tv scrolls through different platters and it jumps numbers (1, 2, 5, 47) for different combinations of meats. There was constantly a 8 people deep line for diy teriyaki sauce. Given the crowd though, I think the restaurant performed admirably in getting people in and out and all the staff were really nice and patient. My first time trying this place out and I was pretty impressed. Inside there are plenty of tables and everything is very clean. They have cute island type decor. The menu covers your typical Hawaiian fast food options but one key thing I didn't see is the loco moco, which is a bummer. We got the island chicken plate, a chicken katsu mini meal, all with only mac salad. We also got an order of the crispy shrimp appetizer. All the fried food was nicely battered and fried, not overly greasy. The shrimp came as rings though, which was a bit odd and made me question how those were made. We didn't realize we would have to get our own katsu sauce, they don't put it in the bag for you for your to-go orders. Mac salad is delicious and pairs well with any of the dish options. First, parking: they have about 15 spaces right outside the restaurant and generally not full. If it is, you can park at the lot next to it and walk over. While we have eaten plate lunches here, I'm only going to review my catering order experience since there doesn't seem to be any recent catering reviews. The catering menu can be a little confusing, so I'm hoping my experience will help. I needed to feed 18 of us and was going back and forth between the catering packages which goes from 10-12 people ($149.99) to 20-24 people ($249.99)... but I needed something in between. I opted for the ala carte of their catering menu instead. I ordered 1 small chicken tray ($35.99), 1 small beef tray ($50.99), 1 small rice ($16.99), and 1 small macaroni salad ($25.99). Service: Suzette helped answer a bunch of my questions patiently. She showed me the different pan sizes, asked the cooks to clarify the weight of the food I'd be getting, and ensured I'd be able to pick up early the following day close to opening time. Answers below... Quantity: The menu states that each small tray would feed 10-12, so I asked if there would be 12 scoops of rice and macaroni each and was told that they fill it to the top instead of counting scoops. Also, in theory, my 2 trays of protein should be enough to feed 20-24, but in reality, it was perfect to feed 18 (right in the middle). On the catering package menu for 10-12, you also get 2 small trays, but the employees also insist that it still only feeds 10-12, possibly because it's a safer answer (depending on how much food each person takes, of course). I did ask about the weight of each protein tray and was told that it's 4 lbs each weighed raw, which might help you decide what size to order. Each protein had veggies underneath made up of cooked broccoli and cabbage. At the end of the meal, there were a couple of pieces of meat and a small portion of macaroni salad left. Quality: Both meats were tasty and flavorful but not overly salty. Rice was nicely cooked and fluffy, and macaroni salad (which apparently also has tuna in it) was very yummy. Everyone seemed to have enjoyed their plate lunches, and I would totally order this way again but with way more confidence! Food was ready on time for pick up, and they provided plates, utensils, napkins, and sauces. I like Ono overall, but this review is for their catering meals/menu, specifically. I have ordered food from Ono's catering menu a number of times over the past decade-and-a-half (plus) and I keep going back to them for catering meals because it's consistently convenient and delicious. The prices are excellent for the quantity of food you receive and it's something that everyone can enjoy. I have yet to have one person (in all of the years I've been ordering from the Ono Catering menu) not find something they can not just eat, but *enjoy* eating. That said, if you're able to do so, I'd recommend making your own rice because what they charge for rice is absolutely insane. When it comes to sides, I recommend ordering a small tray of the Mac Salad, regardless of how many people you're feeding, as the quantity you receive in the small container is more than sufficient, given that it's not something everyone eats - and for the people who *do* eat it, it's not something they'll fill up on. I would also recommended ordering a small tray of the Aloha Salad (definitely ask for extra dressing!), as it's actually surprisingly delicious even though it looks super basic. (I'd recommend you trying it if you have not yet tried it.) If you can afford to splurge, I would recommend a large tray of their SPAM Musubi (I believe there are 50 SPAM Musubis in a large order). It's a HUGE hit every time I've ordered it - and it always goes REALLY quickly because it's both delicious and a super convenient "grab-and-go" item. (I always pull about 6-8 of them out of the tray before putting the tray out for the people I'm feeding so I can ensure I'm able to eat some once I finally get around to eating myself and so I can take some home for the next day.) As far as the meats are concerned, I have gotten the Hawaiian BBQ Chicken every time I've ordered catering from Ono because it's a consistent hit. Besides the Hawaiian BBQ chicken, I've gotten their Kalbi (short ribs), which are really good (coming from someone who is 1/2 Korean!) and their Katsu Chicken. One thing to note about the Katsu Chicken - in case you're wondering - is that despite its being fried and put in a sealed container with holes punched in the lid/cover, I have never found the breading to be soggy (and yes, the chicken has been hot when I've picked it up, so it's not like they let the chicken cool off to prevent it from being soggy and you end up receiving cold chicken). I don't know how they manage to keep the breading from getting soggy, but I do find it to be impressive that the chicken is crispy every time I get it. Lastly, although the Catering Menu states that Catering Orders have to be placed something like (at least) 48-72 hours prior to your event, I have called Ono literally a couple of hours in advance of the time I've needed food (in a pinch) and every single time, they've been able to accommodate my order. I can't guarantee you'll have the same experience if you order catering at the last minute, but I've done it a few times and they've always come through for me, which is yet one more reason for my 5-Star review. Anyway, I hope the information I've provided here helps if you're considering ordering food from Ono's Catering Menu. It's a great option for a good quantity of food at a reasonable price and final tip to note is that if requested, they will include plates, napkins and utensils with their catering orders at no cost, so you don't have to worry about forgetting to get those items or having to pay extra for them on top of what you're already spending on the food. * I don't have time to find pictures of some of my previous catering orders right now, but if I find some pictures later, I'll try to add them to this review. read more

I ordered the grilled lemon pepper chicken, which is the same chicken used for the teriyaki. I usually order this meal 2-3 times a month at this location, and it has always been good. However, the last two times, the chicken has been awful. It tastes rubbery, like fake poultry, and has a slight odor. The quality is so poor that I couldn't eat more than two bites. I even tried offering some to my dog, and he refused to eat it, which is quite telling. It's concerning when a dog won't eat the chicken. I can't continue eating here; I can't trust restaurants that cut corners with their food suppliers. Recently they mailed some BOGO coupons to my house and I noticed they have a couple of new items on the menu: Island fire chicken Melemele curry chicken Both items were spicy but the melemele curry was spicier yet the island fire chicken tasted better. Both were awesome as a salad with their shredded cabbage. The plate also comes with mac salad and rice but if you're trying to eat clean, this makes a great leftover fried rice for kiddo. We also got our standard island fried fish and chicken katsu. I mean you can't go wrong with the classics. Ordering was super easy. The wait wasn't that bad, maybe 10 minutes. You can wait comfortably in their large dining space. It's pretty clean too. The parking lot is a little small and always packed but I usually go around towards Target to avoid all the craziness.
