They serve Korean Fried chicken, chicken sandwiches, fries, bao, chicken tenders, and some Korean dishes. I placed my order online and got 8 wings, some fries, and street corn. They have a few sauces to choose from for your wings including soy garlic, spicy, Korean BBQ, or yangnyeom. I got the yangnyeom sauce on my wings. The staff there was ok. They did their jobs, not overly friendly, but not mean either. My food was ready in about 20 minutes. Even though there was seating available, I took my food back home to eat. My food was really good. The wings were crispy, and the sauce was sweet and spicy, as I like it. The corn was also tasty and very cheesy. The cole slaw that came with the wings was ok. It was edible, but I have had better. The fries were decent, but it is really hard to mess up fries, even though I have seen it done. This joint has an easy process for placing food orders. One of my clients is near this Bonchon, yet I'm usually always rushing home to eat dinner. I decided to have a slower evening and eat at Bonchon for dinner for once with my partner. I was a little wary of coming here based on a past Bonchon experience elsewhere and based off of some reviews, but I was pleasantly surprised with the experience here. The only one star deduction is that the tables felt perpetually sticky and that's never a great feeling. Other than that, the service was super prompt, the ambiance was fun since we came on trivia night (we didn't want to play), and the food exceeded expectations. If you're not into having a loud lively environment, I'd advise against coming when their trivia nights are (when I went, it was on a Tuesday evening). The sides we ordered were kimchi and street corn. The street corn tasted a bit more on the Mexican side than the Korean side - MexiKorean fusion I suppose? I'm also not quite seeing it on the menu anymore... The kimchi was very standard. What exceeded expectations was how fresh the chicken was, and how perfectly crispy and saucy the fried chicken was prepared. We opted for half soy garlic and half spicy drumsticks and wings. The spicy was a little more spicy than I expected it to be, and the soy garlic was as expected: savory, sweet, and salty. The pickled radish is always a nice palate cleanser! If you're craving Korean fried chicken and you're in the Navy Yard area, I'd give Bonchon a try as a dine-in customer. Great spot for takeout and big dining room for eat in. I have been ordering pick up from here for months but finally went in for dinner. The good: the food. The chicken quickly became a takeout favourite with near weekly orders and the noodle dishes are also a solid option. If eating in, the restaurant also has a lot of seating, indoor and outdoor and a lager bar with good happy hour specials. The bad: this is kind of an odd complaint but their Korean hot chicken seems very much like buffalo chicken, which is hot but not Korean. Soy Garlic Wings are usually my go to but I'll switch it up sometimes and do half Korean BBQ. That plus the Seasoned French Fries and Onion Rings!!! I've been a regular at this Bonchon since I work at the post office across the street, but after today, I won't be coming back. A week ago, I ordered food for myself and my coworkers, only to find that my chicken was undercooked and raw. I called to let them know, and the manager was actually very nice--he apologized and even offered to remake my food. At the time, I was at work and couldn't leave right away, and by the time I got off, I honestly didn't even want the food anymore. Today, I decided to call back to see if I could still get my food remade, thinking there wouldn't be an issue since I was initially told it wouldn't be a problem. Instead, I was met with a completely different attitude. The manager (or whoever I spoke to) was extremely rude and dismissive, claiming there was nothing he could do because he didn't believe me. I even offered to show proof of my purchase through my debit card transaction, but he still refused to help. It's frustrating because I wasn't asking for anything unreasonable--just for them to honor what was originally promised. I've been a loyal customer for a long time, but after this experience, I'll be taking my business elsewhere. Located in the in the Navy Yard, this Bonchon is a stone's throw away from the Capitol. Sat down at the large, comfy bar area and a friendly server immediately brought me some water. I ordered via QR code. The website was a little difficult to use, with some of the radio buttons not working on the first tap. But I finally got it to work and paid through the site via Apple Pay (super convenient). The Bonchon Wrap came out pretty quickly (can track the status of the order via their portal). The portion size was good, especially for the price. The Bonchon sauce was stellar and couldn't get enough of it. I'm happy to report that my review inspired Bonchon to make some changes and I'm happy to report that they're back to the old recipe. The manager reached out to me and asked me to come back anonymously to give them another try and provide feedback. I eventually stopped by at a later date without telling him when and proceeded with my secret shopper mission. The chicken strips were cooked perfectly. Nice and juicy on the inside and perfectly crispy on the outside, without excess uncooked flour. They were also served hot and not lukewarm like they had been the last couple of times I came. After I was done eating I asked to speak to the manager and gave him my feedback. He explained that they did take my review very serious and immediately determined the issue based on my description. Bonchon has the best soy garlic Korean fried chicken in town! I have tried the same dishes at other places and haven't found any restaurant with better soy garlic fried chicken than Bonchon. Other dishes are kinda hit or miss. Perhaps it's safe to stick with Korean dishes; I ordered Takoyaki and it's kinda meh. This particular location is very clean and offers plenty of seating. The food was fine, but I was shocked to be required to leave a tip before receiving any service. My server did the bare minimum--brought water and food, but never checked in. So we all know the chicken is fab. This location allows you to order and pay through your phone by scanning your table bar code. So, service was fast and friendly. It also comes with ketchup. What an incredible experience tonight. I had a great meal, first time at this franchise, but apparently, while I was eating, my wallet, fell out of my pocket. I was there and left right at closing time. When I got back to my room and realized I didn't have a key to my room. I swiftly headed back to the restaurant. I could see in the back corner Martien , the bartender on the phone and knocked on the glass. He held up my wallet and met me at the front door and said he was calling area hotels to see if he could find me. As orders are coming out neither are saying the names on orders for people who are inside waiting on orders. 15 min later I asked again about my food and it was there sitting. It's so dangerous, but SO delicious, to have a Bonchon so close to my house! If you haven't had Bonchon yet, you MUST go! I really like the Navy Yard location because it's clean, offers quick service, and has a sizable menu. The Soy Garlic wings are to die for. I'm pretty sure Bonchon wings are double fried, which makes them so crisp on the outside, yet so tender and moist on the inside! They use quality chicken, which always makes for a better wing. If you are looking for a new experience and a place to hang out, this is your place! I have been to South Korea, so I enjoy Korean food. I was excited about trying Bonchon's just because it has a Korean flair. Although I haven't tried nor heard of Korean Fried Chicken (or KFC). I was excited nonetheless. My experience was everything!!! The place is a small bar atmosphere where you can catch some sports if you are a fan and don't have tickets OR just talk a lot of mess with the bartender. I opted for the latter. The bartender was engaging and very knowledgeable about the menu. I sat at the bar, but it was so formal. There is outdoor patio seating and indoor seating. It was a nice day, but since I didn't know the menu well, I wanted to be inside. The bartender told me exactly what to order and said not to worry if I didn't like it, I could order something else (since he suggested), but he was sure that I would be happy with his selection. I skimmed the menu, but lots of things sounded good. They had a Korean selection that included bulgogi and kimchi, they had an Asian selection that included potstickers and katsu, and they had a nice selection of Korean Fried Chicken with many flavors. My order included KFC (spicy and soy garlic) combination. I opted for fries as well (because I'm greedy - and not just any fries, but parmesan fries or seasoned fries as they call them). When my order came, I was surprised to find cole slaw on the side as well (it's standard and comes when you order chicken). I was impressed!! There were several dipping sauces as well. I am particular about dry wings and the bartender and I discussed this. He said no worries. AND.....he was right. Although the wings look "wet", they are crispy! This was a casual spot with a decent size bar. There was some type of "hip" vibe to it. The service was friendly and the food came out in a timely matter. The menu had a number of chicken options ranging from wings to strips to boneless wings and various other options. We had a medium order of wings ($22.95) with soy garlic sauce. It was spicy chicken stir-fried with rice cakes, and their signature hot sauce with scallions and mozzarella cheese served with white rice. This was extremely spicy. It probably did not help I did not wait for the dish to cool off as it came out very hot. It was not to the point where it could not be eaten because of the spiciness, but regardless, spicy!
