    What used to Mumbo Wings
    Britt J.

Personally I enjoyed the wings. They were seasoned and fried to perfection. I just wished I had a little bit more Mumbo sauce. I did remember to ask for salt & pepper on my fries. We enjoyed everything! Service was quick! It is a true authentic carry out without a dine- in option.

For under $10 you can get your fix of fried chicken and a side of fries or fried rice. I came here specifically to try the mambo sauce. The wings were fried perfectly. The sauce itself was on the sweet side, but I can see where the hype comes from. The fried rice was decent but nothing special.

A solid meal after a night out. The space isn't spectacle but it's a large open space to order your food and go. Service was nice. I enjoyed my food but if I go again I'll try something different.

Take it for what it is - corner Chinese spot so idk why people are reviewing like they're dining at capital grill. Wings were your typical Chinese chicken wings nice and crispy - piping hot when they were delivered through Uber eats. Mumbo sauce wasn't my favorite but served its purpose. It was really sour and had a ketchupy taste. I don't like ketchup like that. Rice was honestly NOT GOOD - it was like yellow overcooked mushy rice. I wanted fried rice. If the rice was good I would give 4 stars.

    Chicken Wings and French Fries

Fast and tasty -- I have not one complaint! I was greeted and thanked. Wait was under 10 minutes. Food was fresh. Even after commuting home and stalling, moments later, everything was still piping hot. I ordered the chicken wings and fries with mumbo sauce on the side. Caveat first: this was my first time trying mumbo sauce, and as suspected with any ketchup-based sauce, I personally don't prefer it, but don't regret trying it. The chicken was where it's at! It had that unique Chinese takeout taste -- crispy, juicy, and seasoned well! Fries were fries -- fresh with pillowy insides. Overall, I enjoyed everything. Will definitely be back!

Second time coming for some wonton soup. It appears to be a popular location for standard Chinese takeout ambiance. There's no seating so it's primarily designed for carryout. I've ordered in the shop both times I came and my food was ready within 5-10mins. I'll be interested to try other menu items one day.

This spot makes the best pork fried rice I've had in DC: white onion, spring onion, and bean sprouts. There are no peas or carrots.

Overall it's not a bad spot, but it just didn't exceed where I hoped it would, and while the food didn't really shine, neither did the service. The space is really awesome, and the menu gives you a lot of hope. But fewer hits than expected. The Crab Wontons were out, the jeau lanh (sp?) was not bad, but not that great, the char siu pork was my favorite, but the fried rice and noodles were not cooked at a high enough temperature to taste remotely authentic. Cocktail list looked awesome, cocktails were all just fine, we had 4 of them. Best dish was the monkey bread for dessert! Probably won't be back, but not a horrible spot.

We started with the crab wontons they were really good and the main attraction for everyone when I posted it on social media. We got the fried rice it was delicious, the bbq platter is honestly the best option you get all the meats except the duck which I will need to go back and have. The potatoes were out of this world ! When I saw it on the menu I truly wasn't that excited once I tasted one I was mind blown. The flavor is so unique and so hard to wrap your mind around it's truly bursting with flavor. The cucumber salad is also really good. They deserve every Michelin star that they have been granted the food is truly just that good. I would absolutely recommend coming here. If a place delivers strong execution, quality flavors, and exceeds expectations for what it is trying to be, that earns a top rating from me. Chili Wok did exactly that. We recently visited Alexandria and had an excellent meal from start to finish. Everything we ordered was flavorful, well prepared, and arrived tasting fresh and intentional. The soup dumplings were a standout. The wrappers held together nicely, the filling was savory and juicy, and each bite had that satisfying burst of broth you hope for when ordering them. The fried rice was also very well done. It had great wok flavor, proper texture, and did not feel greasy or heavy, which is where many places miss the mark. The sweet and sour ribs were another highlight. They had a great balance of sweetness and tang, with tender meat and enough texture to keep them interesting. A dish that can sometimes feel one note was handled really well here. Beyond the food, the overall experience was strong. When every dish lands and nothing disappoints, that says a lot about the consistency of the kitchen. Overall, Chili Wok delivered exactly what I hope for in this category: flavorful food, solid technique, and an enjoyable dining experience. Easy 5 stars, and I would gladly return.
