We tried four types: (we didn't have them heat it up, we just took it all home and popped them into the toaster oven) Arrabiata - which was spicy and loaded with the most delicious tomatoes! Loved this Spicy Eggplant - I love eggplant and this thinly sliced spicy version was great. Loved this too! Mushroom - here's one you can never go wrong with. Mushroom anything is delicious if done right, and this was done right Lemon Ricotta - a savory sweet threat. This was pretty good too, but you need to be in the mood for sweet. What a great spot. So unique, this pizza is sold by weight! Get as big or small of slices as you want. About 10 varieties available, from spicy eggplant and lemon ricotta, to classic margherita and pepperoni. The chef was so nice and friendly, once you order just wait a few minutes to get the pizza crisped up. The interior is incredibly small, just a few tables but pretty quick turnaround. A friend recommended Bonci, and to be fair, out of our large group I was the only one who didn't enjoy it--so take this as one person's experience. It's a small spot, but they offer tons of options, which is definitely a plus. They also have a fridge filled with great-looking desserts, salads, and a nice drink selection. I was the third person in our group to order, and the staff interaction threw me off a bit. I felt rushed up to the counter, but then when I placed my order, I was told I was "going too fast." Not a huge deal, but definitely a little annoying. The pizza itself is cut to whatever size you want, which I actually really liked. My main issue was the flavor profile. I'm not a big fan of thyme, and it was on almost every pizza option they had. I know Bonci serves a different style of pizza, and I can appreciate that--it just wasn't for me personally. Fantastic new addition to the Lakeview pizza lineup! I was excited to check this place out when I heard they had a location in Rome, Italy and it did not disappoint! Casual pizza shop with a case full of unique flavors. My favorite part is you get to choose how much you want and they cut it with scissors. You are charged by weight. This allows you to try however many flavors you want. While the blueberry sausage sounded unique, I ended up going with lemon ricotta and 4 cheese meatball. The lemon ricotta was lightly flavored with lemon with huge dollops of super creamy whipped ricotta and thin strips of zucchini. The 4 cheese meatball ended up being my favorite. The blue cheese gave it a nice zing and the meatballs were tender and flavorful. My friend and I dined outside. The seating can be limited so plan to take it to go if needed. read more

The best part of the pizza was the nice crispy crust. It all seemed like a slightly fancier flatbread pizza. Many different flavors but nothing really blew us away. The workers were very quick and friendly, but the ordering process was a bit weird. Choosing your slice width and then they cut it with scissors was very unique. The indoor seating is a bit cramped, so it seemed like getting lucky with a patio seat or taking it to go might be the best option. Weighing the slices and paying by weight was not ideal and it was a bit pricey for what we got. I think I have a much more simple taste when it comes to pizza, so maybe Im not the target audience for this style of pizza, but if you're into trying a bunch of different/unique pizza types its definitely worth a try. read more

This is the best pizza I have ever had in my entire life. I don't really know what else there is to say. We were charging our car and walked around to find a snack and by the grace of some sort of god found ourselves here. I would give the chef my first born child if he asked. For lunch, we went to Bonci. Bonci opened recently to a diverse neighborhood filled with amazing restaurants. We decided to come here to try the pizza. When we arrived at Bonci, we saw some patrons waiting for their orders. Being a very small restaurant, the staff set up two tall boys as tables in the middle. The customers could eat at the wall tables which lined the left wall to the window wall. But eating at Bonci felt a bit uncomfortable due to the small space. After we placed our order, we waited for about 6 minutes to get our slices. I ordered the Mushroom Rosa and the Arugula Bufula. The server proceeded to cut small slices from square pizzas. She put the small slices on a scale. She explained to us that we will pay based on the scale. When we received our pizza slices, the staff cut the slices into smaller slices. I could taste the different ingredients in the pizza. However, I felt the slices were too small. Joseph ordered the pepperoni pizza sloce and a burata pizza slice. He said they tasted pretty good. I liked how Bonci offered vegan options. The restaurant looked clean. The staff worked together well. However, the people sat on top of each other making it tight to sit and eat pizza. read more

Great pizza options with tons of variety. Con is that they cannot custom make pizzas or take of spicy parts because the ingredients have already been put together. The pizza is nice and fluffy, and tastes homemade. The service is really great. Feels almost like true Italian warm welcoming atmosphere with a cute little outdoor seating area. read more

We visited Bonci Pizza on a Wednesday evening for dinner, hoping for a great experience based on all the positive reviews. Unfortunately, our first visit left much to be desired. All of the pizzas on display looked dried out, as if they had been sitting there for a long time. When our order arrived, none of the pizzas were hot; they were merely lukewarm and just as dried out as they appeared initially. We tried the chicken Parmesan pizza, which had very dry chicken, and the pepperoni pizza, which was overly oily. Perhaps we caught them at a bad time, but as a first impression, we were not impressed. Given the abundance of excellent pizza options in Chicago, we don't see a reason to return to Bonci Pizza. read more

I've been to a different Bonci location before and I'd say this experience isn't too different than those. Bonci recently opened Thai location and broadway and seems to be up to speed and par with the other locations. I came in on a Friday for a little late lunch to take to the late. My fiance and I got 4 different slices: mushroom, Buratta, pepperoni and sausage. There was a def difference in quality between with with the pepperoni being a little more subpar for the price. We were served promptly, food was out quickly and by the time we were out the door it was a little crowded with the line forming. IMO, Bonci is fairly good pizza but a little overpriced. That higher price gives you the opportunity to get smaller slices and a variety of flavors the value and pepperoni are the main reason reasons I dropped it to a 4 but I'd still recommend! read more

Newish pizza spot carving their own niche in the neighborhood offering Roman style pizza. I honestly last had this style in Sydney and loved it. The dough typically gets sheeting into a thin long rectangle and slices are trimmed and weighed. It's comes out to about $5 a slice. The dough has a rustic artisan I quality like ciabatta. Service was fast and attentive. It's a lot of people behind the counter and the dining area has a couple of high boys and a few counters. It was chilly today but it looks like they'll utilize the outdoor seating weather permitting. Yeah this place is this week new. It's a chain I haven't personally tried. I thought everything was very tasty and fair portions and pricing. Convenient and quaint location. Definitely worth trying out. read more

Didn't care for the sausage and found it fowl tasting, had to remove it. Overall I found it Too Expensive. 2 slices of sausage and mushroom pizza for $31. Been wanting to try this for a while and finally found myself in the area. There was about 10 options to choose from but the arrabbiata and sausage & mushroom were calling my name. The arrabbiata had a good level of spice but lacked flavor elsewhere. It also was vegan but I couldn't tell. The sausage & mushroom had a flavorful sausage but lacked in quantity of toppings. The third one I got was the potato which was their most popular. Never had something like this but it was my favorite. The potato was good and unsurprisingly paired very well with the cheese. All three pizzas had a nice focaccia like edge which was light and airy but had a more thin inner crust which wasn't nearly as good. They just opened so need to give them some leeway. And I think I'll be back a bunch when they hit their groove. But at the moment the experience is off. First, ordering pizza here is a pain in the ass. They measure the pizza by weight. And need to cut each piece with scissors. Look. I love doing things differently. But this process doesn't work in a small joint with a line out the door. Each piece takes so long to process. Please just sell us pre cut pieces and keep the order process rolling. But the pizza itself is hit or miss. I had a Pepperoni piece and it's fantastic. So was their blueberry and sausage. Love the creative ingredient combos. But the. We had a sausage and mushroom and it was incredibly bland. Like someone forgot to season the meat. The potato pizza is the same story. Bland. I found myself putting salt and hot sauce on pieces at home to make up for the lack of flavor. The dough itself is great. And I'll keep experimenting with coming here. read more

We ordered 6 "slices" of pizza in varying sizes for our vegetarian and meat-eating family. The service was very friendly and knew how much to cut based on our discussion- and it was the right amount - paid for by weight. Worked out well. We were very pleasantly surprised by the potato pesto slice; greasy, savory, garlicky in all the right ways. The lemon ricotta slice was fresh, clean, and well balanced. Wanted to love the vegan mushroom Rosa and the meatball, but they were just "ok" compared to the more unusual combos mentioned above. We took the slices home and reheated with the help of included instructions - super easy. If you're in the neighborhood and want something tasty, it's definitely worth the stop. read more

This place is great, the manager is super friendly. I've been in 4 times now in the 10 days they've opened. Definitely one of the best thing crusts I've had in Chicago. Only negative id say is it's pretty expensive for what you get but also you can tell they use top notch ingredients so it's understandable. I noticed someone complaining about "no where to sit". I'm not sure what you'd expect from a restaurant with seating for around 8-10. This is a takeaway place more European style imo, it's nice they have the seating outside too! Got a takeout slice to share with my wife on our way home, it was fantastic. Flavors were well balanced between the toppings, sauce, and cheese while the crust was crunchy and pillowy soft with a great chew.
