Very cool neighborhood pizza vibe to this place, I could very much see stopping for a quick NY slice during a busy day. The pizza was excellent and came out pretty fast. I think I preferred the hot honey but the prosciutto was still very good. We also ordered the tiramisu from the window at the register which the staff kindly waited to serve until we were ready which was nice. Pizza walk ok. Nothing stood out aside from the noticeable quality ingredients especially the cherry tomatoes & the dough. Pesto was kind of flavorless this leading me to believe it was unnecessary on the pie as is the sausage. It's worth stating that this is far from your typical greasy thin crust pizza. I'm not a pizza aficionado but I assume this napoleon style. Cheese pizza was superior to the pesto one. Doubt I'd return. read more

Finally a legit bolognese! I've tried so many places (including many favorite Italian places in the city) and they never are capable of emulating an Italian bolognese. It takes me back to Italy. This is one of those sneaky good pizza spots. As soon as you walk in the staff greets you extremely friendly. The single slices are pretty big. Tried the buffalo chicken and bacon, really delicious. Debuting about a month ago, Lusha is wood-fired pizza made with care by folks from Firenze. Lusha has all the ingredients to be a 5 star pizza spot, but they fell just a bit short on this first visit. High quality ingredients and a perfectly cooked, chewy crust are the stars of the show. They immediately hold the mantle of best cheese on a pizza in Chicago, real mozzarella reminiscent of the best of the best back home in New York. A true highlight, along with a pretty well-seasoned, perfectly executed dough and crust. What I'd love to see to put them over the top is better seasoning. The pesto was a bit oily and lackluster to be honest, not adding as much flavor and contrast as I would have expected. Quite honestly, all it needs is some extra salt and pepper, long an issue with Chicago pizza, but surprising from pizza makers from Italy. I will definitely be back to try some other styles, and I have a lot of confidence I'll be updating this review to a 5 down the line. This could be the best pizza in Chicago but I will never know. Based on my experience with their ability to serve the customer it is 1 star. The restaurant says they close at 9pm. 2 times I have stopped into this pizzeria and both times they have no regular cheese pizza slices available and they would not be making any more available by the slice for the day. The first time was on a Thursday at about 8:15pm and the second time was a Wednesday at 7:30pm. This was not 5 minutes before closing. It is 100% not possible to be a place that says they sell pizza by the slice and not have a regular cheese slice available in the middle of your business hours. read more

Friendly (family owned?) staff with a variety of pizza (both whole pies and by the slice), pastas, and desserts. We got a whole pie: half cheese and half Lusha, both of which were delicious! All the ingredients had flavor from the cheese to the sauce to the crust. I definitely recommend them and can't wait to come try out more. I was so excited to see a local, family-owned pizza place open in the neighborhood and have been visiting since they've opened. You really can't go wrong with anything on the menu, but the Lusha and Pepperoni pizzas are favorites of mine. The crust is thin and not too crispy, and along with the other ingredients makes for some incredibly tasty pizza. I also love the Nutella dessert pizza calzone packed with a generous portion of Nutella spread and strawberries. They also have tiramisu and cheesecake. Chatting with the family was also wonderful to hear how Lusha got started after they left Florence for Chicago. You can tell a lot of care went in to everything. Stopped by there for a late dinner last night. The family that owns the restaurant moved here from Florence, Italy two years ago and worked a variety of jobs to save up the money to open Lusha. They import a lot of the ingredients from Italy like the sauce which makes the pizza a little pricy but definitely worth it.
