I absolutely love this restaurant! They're BBQ sauce is great and everything is always hot and fast. Its very smokey BBQ which I love. You can tell that the brisket has been smoking for hours its super juicy and tender. The prices are great too! Two people can get more than a full meal for $15! The ribs are fantastic. The brisket is below average and the pork (while good) has way too much sauce for my taste, but the ribs are as good as you'll find anywhere. I never get ribs when I go to BBQ joints because I much prefer pork and brisket, but I almost never get anything but ribs when I'm at Bone Daddy's. read more

I now know why they have not won anything in the last couple times they went out as the food has gone down hill by leaps and bounds. I went to Bone Daddy's for my fathers birthday earlier this month and it was just not good. I got pulled pork, brisket and ribs the only thing that was slightly good was the ribs and the corn muffin. the brisket was way to fatty, the pulled pork was slimy feeling. My mother had the chicken and it was not even cooked all the way through had pink in the middle which is nasty. The beans were ick, also the staff that was there were sour faced and rude, yelling things through the resturant that no guest wants to hear being yelled as they are siting there trying to eat. So no more going there, no thanks. read more

Decent BBQ. Ribs quality varies. Satisfied most of the time. Fish fry on friday, though I didn't like the crust of the fish.

Went here over mother's day weekend while in town. I would have to say it was some of the best Q I have had in a long time. What made it even better was that my wife was able to get stuff to eat as she needs to be gluten free. Just had to go with no sauce. Would definitely go back next time we are in the area. Hard to review the food when they don't keep their posted hours. The last two Saturday evenings they have been closed, despite supposedly being open until 9 p.m. The first week, there was a printed sign on the door saying they were closed because their furnace wasn't working (it wasn't all that cold that day). The second time, they were closed several hours before the 9 p.m. closing time, but there was no sign indicating a reason. read more

My wife and I ate at your establishment a couple weeks ago. I had been to your old location a couple times, this was my wife's first visit. I like the new simple decor and tables. As usual I ordered the Dynamite with fries. My wife had the sampler platter. First off please know that I spent 25 years in commercial foodservices running everything from Colleges to Assisted Living. Also I have an electric smoker in my garage which allows me to smoke year round. As usual the fries were fantastic - the sandwich, which you have to eat with a knife and fork, tasted great, however the meat was on the tough side. As for my wife's platter - The ribs and chicken were good, not the best ever but more than adequate, the brisket on the other hand was tough and lacked the customary flavor profile, brisket should be able to stand on its on without the addition of any sauce or other seasonings, yours failed miserably. Worse yet were the side dishes, the coleslaw was flavorless, the cornbread muffin was dry and the baked beans had major issues. The beans had a chemical aftertaste to them, like kerosene - I saw another post on Yelp that said that they tasted like lighter fluid - this should not be new news to you but yet they still taste the way they do. I have been known to smoke beans for parties and community events, mine have never had a chemical flavor. This does not meet my expectation for "Award Winning" read more

OMG, food was fabulous! We took a friend from TX, who had a hankerin for some good old BBQ, he thought it was really good. In today because they had the tri-tip going this week, and occasional special they prepare. The Tri-Tip was amazingly tasty and the sides that came with it were excellent- potato, beans and roll. The service was quick and excellent, as always, but the Beef and sauce was the star. Wonderful meal !! read more

The food they prepare for competitions must be WAY better than what they serve in the restaurant. The ribs are actually pretty good, but the pulled pork? Forget it! As a native Southerner, I know BBQ. They do not know how to make pulled pork. And good luck finding them open! Not very good! Ordered brisket plate based on another review. The brisket is coated in a sauce and reheated on a grill. If the meat is good you shouldn't slather it in sauce! Good six portion but tasted institutional. Beans were right out of a can. Cole slaw was as good as grocery store deli, not bad. Ordered catering and for Saturday and was called on Friday at 3:30 and told I needed to pick it up by 5:00 on Friday since they wouldn't be there on Saturday. Stated hours are 11-9 Tuesday to Saturday. I expected the meat to be in a disposable metal pan that could be heated in the oven. Nope. Styrofoam. So then I had to buy a pan to heat it at the party. I will not deny that the food in Bone Daddy's is good BBQ, especially for Mid-Michigan. However, I will NEVER go back to them for catering. They were nothing but a hassle, changing prices at the drop of a hat, adding fees after an initial agreement had been struck, and it was almost impossible to get ahold of them. Our contact at the restaurant was very rude, constantly gave us miss-information, and on the day of the event, they were unprepared and ended up shorting us for food, that we had already paid for (no refund was ever received for the missing food). Food is great, but 3 out of 5 times I have been here they were closed. I went on days that their 'hours' say they are open, but they were closed. Weekdays too, not weekends where you would expect them to be closed if they were out doing a competition. No notes on the door, no signs, nothing. I drove 30 minutes 2 of the 3 times to get there only to find out I wasted yet another lunch hour on this place. Sorry, but no more. Food is good but not worth it. Good pulled pork, chicken, slaw, beans and corn bread. The buns are just cheap white hamburger buns, which I will skip next time. I had the ribs, but won't get them again (no flavor and not tender). I still need to try the brisket and sausage, which I hear are good. read more

I lived in Texas for a couple of years and fell in love with bbq brisket and so when I returned to Michigan I added a smoker to my cooking equipment. I smoke brisket several times a year and have good success. I have over 20 years experience in food service industry and have owned a bakery and deli. I had heard that Bone Daddy's had good BBQ and was excited to try some. Read numerous 4 to 5 star reviews and so I was extremely disappointed with my experience. Dined at BD's on a Tuesday at 5:30 and was only customer until about 6:00. I ordered the thick sliced brisket plate. The portion was very generous as were the sides (beans and blue cheese slaw). The texture of the meat was a little too firm (not tough but not tender). I have never seen such large slices of brisket (thickness 7/16", width 2 1/2 to 31/2", length 6 to 8"). I usually smoke briskets between 4 and 6 # but have smoked them as large as 16#. So I understand the importance of correctly smoking and slow low long moist heat and finally slicing brisket to avoid toughness. The flavor was even more disappointing. The only thing that I can think of with similar odor is burning wet Elm not a pleasant taste and somewhat bitter. The beans had a similar unpleasant Elm smoke flavor. The Blue Cheese slaw was also disappointing and was bland. On the positive side the counter service was very friendly and the facility was clean and offered comfortable seating. Pricing for quantity was generous. Cornbread with Jalepenos muffin was just okay. With all the good reviews I will chalk this up as a beIng served food leftover from the weekend (that's what it reminded me of - stale cooler dried leftovers). I will give them one more try. I am looking for a good hot/spivey smoked sausage. I will also try to visit on a weekend rather than on a Tuesday in the middle of the winter (they are closed on Monday which leads me to believe I was served leftovers from the weekend. Also more likely to have owner and most experienced staff on premises. I've eaten great brisket in Texas, Florida, St Louis, Kansas City, Memphis and a few small joints in around the U.S. Having owned my own restaurant I hope BD's corrects whatever happened during my visit. I like to see small independents succeed and develop a positive reputation! read more
