This place is just not very good. I wanted a sundae and was told I couldn't get it with hand dipped ice cream, just soft serve. Then told just chocolate, but they were out of it. Always end up going to Bonkey's when we r in town. Lots of flavors and combinations. They only have a few seating places wish they would a add a few more as they get busy and eating in the car, especially if you have kids can get a bit messy. Interestingly, actual homemade ice cream in Bethany can be hard to come by. The speciality in the area is frozen custard, peddled by places like Kohr's Brothers and Dicky's. A place like Bonkey's is nice to have-homemade ice cream, unique flavors, good prices, and fast service make for a really good experience. My sundae consisted of peanut butter chocolate and Nutella ice cream, hot fudge, whipped cream, crushed peanuts, and a cherry on top. (Full on 3rd trimester food baby) And honestly, while everything all together was really good, the actual ice cream didn't blow me away. The Nutella tasted mostly like chocolate and not Nutella. The peanut butter chocolate also tasted of mostly chocolate and not peanut butter. Hot fudge was excellent though. Whipped cream tasted homemade, and for the sake of this review we'll pretend it was. Peanuts tasted like peanuts. Cherry was red, stemless, and of the marachino variety...mmm Could Bonkey's do a bit better with the ice cream flavors? Sure. Could they charge twice what they charge now for a sundae and get away with it? Probably. Bonkey's isn't perfect, but they do it right. Recommended. read more

Just discovered this place last weekend and we came back this weekend. There really is something for everyone here. Last weekend I had the pineapple upside down cake ice cream, which was one if the best things I've ever tasted. My husband tried the Cookie Monster last weekend (they said it was their best seller), and he had it again last night. The toasted coconut and chocolate peanut butter were also great. We have a new dessert spot at the beach! Pros: great ice cream, exceptional flavor options, friendly service. We love Bonkey's but went there yesterday and the two employees that helped us didn't understand English very well. We ordered a chocolate cone with chocolate sprinkles a pretty easy order.
