The food was tasty and the marinara sauce was delicious! The restaurant vibe reminded me of a New York deli, where you walk up, read the menu board, select beverages in a refrigerated case, chip sides, etc., place your order and a server from the kitchen delivers to your table. We tried the spaghetti marinara and antipasto salad, but watched mouth watering pizza pies go by as well as giant, juicy looking Italian beef sandwiches. We also spotted an authentic brick pizza oven which was a pleasant surprise. Bonta is a no frills spot, and has pre-rolled plastic flatware, so don't expect anything fancy, the food was the star here! There was plenty of seating and is located in a strip mall off 21/Milwaukee Avenue, in Lincolnshire with convenient parking. I can't wait to go back and try the pizza!

Alfredo rigatoni with a panko breaded chicken cutlet--it was outstanding! The fried calamari was super good, too!

LISTEN, LISTEN, LISTEN! A group of my girlfriends and I dine in at Bonta every other Friday and let me tell you the week/weeks that pass in between each visit I am craving it; there's a reason they have so many weekly regulars! If you want to visit on Friday or Saturday make sure to make a reservation because it can get busy. My go-to order is rigatoni alfredo with chicken cotoletta on top and a side caesar salad (I'm not a caesar salad freak like some of you but bonta's caesar is so delicious it turns me into a caesar salad freak). I have tried so many things on the menu and all of them hit !!!!!!! Literally can't go wrong. I enjoyed my food so much I felt compelled to write a SECOND review, HELLOOOO??

This is a small hole in the wall Italian restaurant. Went in with tempered expectations and was very pleasantly surprised. Both the service and the food was great. They had us try the wine before serving which is very classic Italian restaurant. They checked on us a good amount. The food was delicious. We got the vodka pasta and the braciola with pasta. The bread was also good with a nice amount of butter. This is a great place to go if you are visiting Lincolnshire for the evening.

The garlic bread + mozzarella was yummy and great to share with the table. The pizzas were all really solid, and they're a great size for one meal. Our waitress was attentive and great and very nice, and the staff was also attentive, keeping our water filled and making sure we had everything we needed. It's not the cutest place ever, and the women's bathroom had a peculiar sign on the inside of the door, but it's homey and clean. I would love to try their pastas, but they were much pricier than the pizzas. Knocking a star, though, because the prices listed on the menu were wrong - they actually charged us $2 more per item, without saying anything about that.

A bit of a Clark Kent, Bontá is nondescript and unassuming in a strip mall. But take off the glasses (aka step inside) and you get traditional Italian flavors and pizzas in a casual atmosphere. Though the parking lot looked empty, inside the restaurant was almost filled and Uber drivers and customers were constantly coming in to pick up orders. After seeing arancini all over my FYP, we split an arancini appetizer that was as big as my fist. It was hot, golden brown and a melty cheesy meat mixture oozed out. Lots of traditional Italian pastas on the menu. I selected the braciole, which I've never had before, which translates to meat rolled over coals. It was flank steak stuffed with garlic and prosciutto and simmered in red sauce for hours. Man, I was surprised at how tender it was -- I could cut it with a fork, and didn't need to chew hardly at all. It came with pasta and a side garden salad. I tried my friend's gnocchi in vodka sauce, the gnocchi was pleasantly chewy and the sauce was rich, creamy and tasty. Service was pleasant but there was a bit of a wait between our dishes; therefore we did not try dessert. Overall, the dishes were well-executed, reasonably priced, and surprisingly good. The dining area is rather small, but we did see several groups of people dining (birthday, multi-generational, friends). I would like to come back for the pizza.

Bonita has a great, friendly staff. They seem to have updated their menu. They have great pizza and now they have pasta dishes and entrees. On salads, they offer three dressings, which seems kind of limited. They offer for house dressing basically a small cup of balsamic vinegar. It's not very creative or good unless you like balsamic vinegar very much. The garden salad could use some tomato and the finely diced red pepper is a bit hard to eat, larger pieces would be easier to eat. I ordered the vodka, sausage, and peas pasta. It had thoroughly coated pasta but not much extra sauce. I'm fine with that but if you are looking for soupy pasta, this isn't your dish. It's barely just enough sauce. The flavor was good including the sausage. When I woke, through, I had extreme thirst so I suspect they use heavy salt. I don't appreciate restaurants that have a heavy salt hand. Sodium isn't good for your health and it's a cheap way to flavor food. The flavor comes at the consumer's expense with elevated thirst and blood pressure. I'll go back for certain but probably will stick to the pizza.

Great flavorful pasta and garlic bread, Authentic Napoletana style Margherita pizza just like you'd get in Italy. The kind where the crust alone has that delicious, chewy quality that makes it taste so good even on its own. Friendly staff, clean bathrooms, a couple outdoor seating options. Nice early hours, opening at 10:30 am on Saturday. They even have a nice little section where they put a small wine bar area.

I was looking for something different to eat before seeing a show at the Marriot and stumbled upon Bonta. Tucked in the corner of a strip mall it can definitely be missed. I walked in and was greeted and was sat at a table in the back. They have a casual fancy vibe going on. The tables are covered with white paper table cloths to add a little class. My server came and I placed an appetizer for the arancini. I wish I would have placed my main entree too because after I received my appetizer (from a runner) my server didn't come around to check on me for awhile so I could place it. I ordered pesto rigatoni with chicken and I was underwhelmed. The chicken was on the dry side and pesto wasn't as flavorful as I know pesto to be. It comes with a side and bread. I upgraded to Caesar Salad which was delicious. I was on a time crunch so no time to wait for their dessert. I'll be back though to try their pizzas and calzones. Pasta I'll skip.

I have been ordering food from Bonta for years and I didn't realize that I had never written a review. Shame on me for not sharing the greatness that is Bonta. In the past, I have often ordered their wood-fired pizzas for pickup. They have always been tremendous. But this time I actually ate in the restaurant instead of ordering pickup. Our dining experience was very pleasant. Our waitress was very friendly and attentive and the food was good as always. I couldn't resist ordering my go-to pizza, the quattro formaggi which is a white pizza made with mozzarella, parmigiano reggiano, ricotta, and gorgonzola. Yum! My wife ordered the eggplant parmigiana which I had never had before. It was amazing, sooo good. That might be my new go-to dish there. If you are looking for some great Italian food in the Lincolnshire area, you can never go wrong with Bonta!

This is a very nice casual Italian restaurant, that is extremely convenient. In addition to the very well done Italian specialties, they have a great selection of sandwiches that are perfect for a quick lunch treat. I would say the quality of the food could be considered upscale and authentic, at the same time it functions similar to a deli with its casual nature and inconvenience. The service was great and they were extremely friendly.

This grocery/lunch-in Italian cafe/market is a hidden gem! I loved the eggplant parm and the Aracini (Rice ball filled with ground beef, cheese, tomato, and peas). I also had their pistaccio cannoli!!!!! This Italian cafe is truly authentic and their lunch specials are a steal. There isn't much seating so try to go early for lunch or take to go! I will be back with the work crew :-) read more

I came here today with some coworkers for lunch because they all had great things to say. I must say... I agree!!! First off, everyone here is super friendly. It's a sandwich shop, wine shop and pizza. It's authentic Italian and the sandwiches are amazing!! I got the buffalo chicken sandwich and I wasn't disappointed. It was spicy but not horribly. I also got some of their almond cookies which were so good I bought 4 to go!! Pricing is fair for the area and the sandwiches have great ingredients... Not like a "subway" or other quick sandwich place but they are almost just as quick!!! They have some wine & prosecco for sale as well. Of course I had to buy a couple. And they were reasonably priced. Oh and if you didn't want to stay and eat you could do delivery or pickup... Great for the offices in the area. If you haven't visited this little gem for lunch, you must!!! read more

An actual small mom and pop style tucked away Italian Deli in Vernon Hills! Fresh hot and cold food at very reasonable prices. The specials are great...all tempting you with large photos above the counter. Ask about the daily special and don't forget the Italian coffee and pastry or cookies afterward. Very authentic Italian deli--I had a sandwich with ....I believe it was proscuito and arugula and I dream about it. Really nice people who treat you like fam. read more

My girlfriend took me here for my birthday and the Italian food is homemade second to none. The gentleman who owns the place is very accommodating and makes you feel like you're part of his family. The food is amazing and the ambience is very relaxing. The only thing I would say they would need to improve on is there a selection of wine otherwise it's a great place to go to for a delicious meal. read more

This place is deceiving - tucked away in a small strip center, you might choose to overlook it...but that would be a mistake. Bonta serves up fresh and tasty food at really reasonable prices. This is a friendly and casual spot that is consistent in its delivery each time you visit. read more

When walking by it looks like a very small shop with mediocre food; However it is the opposite of that. This restaurant serves hot fresh Italian food. It's a mom and pop shop owned by an Italian. I have been there at-least 10 times by now and not once have they disappointed me or my family. We usually go for the veggie + cheese lasagna which is our favorite. One lasagna feeds two people. Unlike other Italian restaurants this one isn't too oily, it has fresh taste which is something hard to find. The pizza there is also amazing. Overall i would highly recommend to order food from there once. read more

Family restaurant settled deep inside the local plaza with dated and uninviting decor. The selection consists of Italian fare of oven made pizza, sandwiches, deserts, and wine from various regions of Italy. The thin crust pizza was very good. While the sandwich menu is large, only one type of bread is offered, making customization limited to the ingredients only. The veggie sandwich was pleasant, but not something to come back for. The desert was most dissatisfying - the hand-made cannoli was bland, and shell tough instead of light and crunchy, the americano was undrinkable due to the over roasted beans, resulting in the brew of harsh bitterness. Several times wanted to visit to get a pizza, however, the setting and the uninviting atmosphere made me turn to other choices. read more

Went for lunch and have gone back for lunch and dinner. They do close a bit early but the brick oven pizza is simple and delicious. Real Italian style. The deli sandwiches are huge and meaty. The ingredients are fresh and the service is friendly. Expect to wait if you go during the lunch rush. If I lived closer I'd eat there more often. My husbands review: That place is legit. Bonta has THE BEST wood fired pizza we have found outside of Italy. (Even some we have tried in Italy don't compare!) The owners are so friendly and all thru covid they have been our go-to pizza. They created a safe, clean environment that I always felt safe in. My husband loves their calzones. My favorite is the Bonta d'terra -- a perfect combination of prosciutto, EVOO, arugula and cheese. And the grilled calamari appetizer is not to be missed either. If we happen to have have room, the tiramisu is divine also!! Love it! read more

This is the type of place that makes me so happy. The food is fresh, flavorful and authentic. This is not a watered down version of an Italian restaurant or one so fancy you only go once a year. The portions were just the right size and they made sure you were well taken care of during the meal. We had the cream of chicken lemon soup which was so good and the stuffed peppers and spaghetti and meatballs. Everything was amazing. Then we watched every other dish come out and planned our return trip. The calzone and pizza looked like masterpieces and the salads all looked fantastic Just a great little spot read more

Love coming to Bonta for lunch! It is fairly close to my job so I tend to come here every time I am craving good pizza! This place seems like some authentic Italian market/deli type of restaurant since they also sell wines and prepared food to go (such as lasagna, ravioli, or stuffed peppers). It is in the middle of some random old strip mall so I think that doesn't help the restaurant since people can easily miss it. I have only tried their pizzas and the canoli and both have been outstanding!! The ingredients are fresh and there is always a good amount of toppings. The prices might seem kind of high but when you taste how good and fresh everything is you forget about the price.The owners/employees are always very friendly and have a great sense of humor. Def a fan and highly recommend this hidden Italian gem in the Lincolnshire /Vernon Hills area! read more

Tonight I had the Tuesday special, a meatball sandwich. Delicious!! And the price was right. Homemade meatballs and red sauce on top of toasted Italian bread. This is a very casual place. I try to stop in when I'm in the neighborhood. Service is friendly and fast. Couldn't ask for more. read more

I knew I was in the right place when I heard modern Italian pop music playing; and when my waiter called the (obvious) owner "Zio" (uncle). Family-run restaurant; real Italian food. A simple Caesar salad and perfectly grilled calamari (nice char, tender) was a perfect meal! It would be 5 stars, but I was a little surprised at the $2 up-charge for anchovies on my salad (aren't anchovies standard on a Caesar?) My waiter didn't inform me - he just said yes when I asked for them. Ah well ... you can't have it all. But seriously... the food is legit and I would go back. read more

Ordered their pizza for the first time tonight very disappointed. First off I requested it cut in squares and it came in triangles excuse me but I prefer that. The pizza was soggy almost undercooked and cold to temperature. Can't understand why a friend of mine recommended it but I will not be trying it again read more

I am a regular customer. I went in to buy mushroom soup. I spent 20.00 on it. I gave one to my friend. It was way too salty and was NOT edible. Everyone who ate it agreed. I called the owner and she said that's how it's supposed to taste. She had no other complaints. It was horrible and I cannot believe she didn't take my word. No one liked it. I bought a quart and a half and I have to throw it and my 20.00 down the drain. Nice customer service!!! She lost my entire family by not making it right and making me feel foolish. I hope it was worth it!!! read more

I have NO negative words, thoughts, etc about Bonta. Fantastic dishes, good prices, low-key ambiance. It's the Italian food without the over the top fancy look. Every. Single. Dish. Was delish!!! The tomato-bisque soup, chicken-tortilla soup, cheese lasagna, Pepperoni/cheese Calzone, and the Quattro Formaggi Pizza were the items ordered and none of us had a single complaint. read more

I was really let down this past Valentine's Day and this was partly why. I made reservations three days before and when I get there they say they can't find it. They were able to seat us but in a corner surrounded by two windows, which made my date and I cold. The arancini was decent, the minestrone was incredibly salty, as well as the entrees. I know it wasn't just me who thought so, as another customer complained about the salt as well. The portion sizes were big, which was a good thing. The restaurant itself looks like a mix between a cafe, wine shop and makeshift restaurant. Not very romantic. All in all, I won't be going back. Not a great experience. read more

For example, if you look at the pictures of the food quite bluntly it just looks like they slapped food onto a plate. There's really no thought that's been put into the presentation. There's really been no thought also to just the pure amounts of cheese and sauce that are also creating a swimming pool on the plate. We ordered the grilled octopus for appetizer and even that was swimming in olive oil and balsamic vinaigrette and too much of everything I think the food is OK but nothing fantastic. Considering the overly saturated Chicagoland market of Italian restaurants I wouldn't necessarily say this was at the top of my list.

I visited this restaurant to celebrate my dad's birthday with my 1.5-year-old daughter, but the experience left a lot to be desired. The problems started with the food order - it arrived slowly and not all at once. Even worse, my daughter only received half of what we ordered. When I tried to address this issue with the staff, one of the employees made an assumption that I hadn't ordered the missing food, which was frustrating. To make matters worse, my daughter threw some food on the floor, and the response from the staff was far from pleasant. They commented on the mess and suggested that parents should clean up after their kids. Overall, the service was terrible, the food was subpar, and the rudeness of the staff was on another level. Ive gone to this place a few times before and nearly every time I felt unwelcomed. Im not sure who the owner is there but there just this guy that seems very unfriendly to me. Im not sure if its his tone or the way he looks at a person, like as if "why are you here" but it just felt odd. in terms of food in the past ive stopped for some croissants and a cup of coffee when I was headed in that direction. the croissants are always good and my latte was good but recently I stopped in for a bite and a sip and noticed that my latte sorta tasted off. I LOVE Bonta's food! So when I saw I could order online, I was so excited! I was able to order my dinner and go straight from work to pick it up. I had their cream of mushroom soup which is AMAZING, their pasta salad-- super fresh and satisfying, and an Italian soda! To top it off, I got one of their home made cannoli- total decadence! It was the perfect place to celebrate our anniversary. Our server, Nathan, was exceptional. He was attentive, friendly, knowledgeable, and made sure we had everything we needed throughout the evening. The manager also stopped by to check on us, which really showed how much they care about their guests. I've dined at much more expensive restaurants before, and I've honestly never experienced this level of hospitality. The food was incredible 10/10! Everything tasted fresh, flavorful, and perfectly prepared. The portions were generous, and I couldn't even finish my meal because there was so much delicious food. Overall, this was one of the best dining experiences I've ever had. From the outstanding service to the beautiful ambiance and amazing food, everything exceeded our expectations. Thank you to Nathan and the entire team for making our anniversary so memorable. We will definitely be back and highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for an exceptional dining experience!

It turns out, Nico is GREAT! Many of our favorites from Viaggio remain on the menu; the crusty bread, the Caesar salad, the gnocchi, the chicken Parmesan, all were top-notch. Terrific seafood dishes remain, too, although we didn't try them during this visit. And some new items that will be fun to try have been added, such as pizza. As always, the service was friendly and efficient. And best of all, the spumoni bombe is still on the menu! (It's our favorite and SO delicious.). I was very frustrated, when the polite girl behind the register said she would put the order in now, as there's no order in the system. "It happens sometimes". The challenge I have is it's 5:45 in the evening and now I have to sit in the car for 30 additional minutes to wait for an order that I already ordered. A gentleman came from the back in the kitchen who appeared to be the manager on staff, to the front of the store and offered to pay for the entire dinner for free. He recognized that I'm a regular customer. He did what what you're supposed to do for customer service purposes in these types of situations,, but unfortunately, in today's business climate this is not as common as it should be. I went from being very upset, to being shocked and very happy. Bottom line is Nino's cares about their customers, and I wanted everyone to know about this very respectful offer of kindness and excellent customer service turning Lemons into Lemonade !!!

As we were eating we needed napkins and some silverware but had to run to the bar to get someone to bring some over.
