Upon our arrival we were told the dining room was full and we had the option to wait or to eat outside. We opted to eat outside and the young lady outside (she didn't have a name tag so I don't know her name) told us there were no tables available and we could sit in some chairs on the side until a table became available. She said "as soon as a table becomes available y'all can sit there" so we sat in the chairs and as a table became available we waited as she cleaned it and immediately, before we could sit there, she sat the group that came after us. Which immediately made us question why we were skipped. So we ordered and continued to wait for another table to become available. When the next table became available we proceeded to move toward the table and we were told by the same young lady that she was going to seat someone else there and we couldn't sit there. We were then annoyed with good reason because we had been skipped twice by groups who arrived after us. Meanwhile she was repeatedly vaping which just seems unprofessional. When the next table became available we proceeded again toward the table and waited for it to be cleaned, the young lady saw us by the table and put the cleaning rag back down and sat back down so our table was never cleaned. The bartender yelled at all of our friends when trying to order drinks and carded all of us multiple times. They were just overall not friendly staff at all. We have five kids, and going out to eat is always an adventure. However, this place was fantastic. We went for lunch and the kids loved playing outside. They have a large connect four game, a huge game of Jenga, multiple corn hole boards, and hula hoops -- all in a fenced in area outside. This was perfect for us because the kids were occupied while we waited on the food. And when it came, the food was fantastic. Not just our food, but the kids food too. Normally at restaurantsI feel like the kids food, is subpar. But I actually wanted to try the kids burger, it look as good as an adult burger, although obviously much smaller. The service was also amazing. If you have kids, and you're looking for relaxing experience, I would highly recommend this place for lunch. read more

My rating is this high ONLY because of the grit cakes which I have never had anywhere. Wow! I have to try to make these. The bacon wrapped shrimp that came with them were pitifully small. The hippy dip isn't anything to rave about at all either. We only were here for the Kentucky Derby party and I have to say, the cocktails were very weak - I had plenty! This was the most fun I've ever legally had at a bar! In town for the weekend, me and my buddies got BLACKOUT here and partied until closing time. Reasonably priced drinks? Check Single locals looking for a good time? Check Loud music? Check Beach vibes? Check What else could one possibly ask for? (Except maybe a key bump in the bathroom) What did we do the next night you ask? The exact same thing! This time a little harder..(puked all over some dudes yard on the walk home). The second night, Saturday, they had a DJ who was much better than the band on Friday. When your drunk enough it really doesn't matter! Loud music is all I need to dance. I will be coming back to OBX specifically to go to this bar..if done correctly, you don't even need a place to stay! Play your cards right and you can go home with one of the locals! The others in my group had the Costa Rican Chicken Sliders, Fresh Grilled Tuna sandwich, Peppered Tuna Tacos and burgers. The consensus for all us was " really really really good ". My wife and I was heading up The Beach Road looking for a place to stop for lunch and came across Bonzers and pulled into a small, but almost full parking lot and both said that this place must be good, when we exited our vehicle we were welcomed with the aroma of chargrilled hamburgers. We were excited to get in and order at this point and the biggest testament to the quality of this place is the amount of locals cars in the lot. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful, a great selection of specials and the price could not be beat. Great selection of craft beers with seasonal rotating taps makes this one of my favorite places in OBX and have recommended it to multiple people already and excited to get back there!!! read more

Went in a little early (5:30ish). Got seated right away. Had the mahi mahi tacos. Very good flavor. My wife had the parmesan crusted snapper. She really enjoyed it. This is the perfect spot to grab a casual lunch or dinner. The food was awesome, the service was great, and restaurant itself has a cute, beach shack vibe with a large outdoor space to play cornhole or hang out and drink a beer. We went for dinner and ordered the bonzer shrimp as our appetizer. It was fantastic. The shrimp wrapped in bacon was good, but the grit cake stole the show. It was fried and crispy on the outside and creamy and cheesy on the inside. We both agreed it was the best part of our entire meal. For entrees, we ordered the fish tacos and the land and sea special. The fish tacos were really good, the coleslaw was a nice addition and added some sweetness and texture. The land and sea included a bison burger slider and a shark tip slider; both were good but the garlic fries may have been the best I've ever had. As a whole, though, I thought the tacos and appetizer had a more interesting flavor profile and would order them again over the special. Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our meal and will make this a staple for our frequent beach trips. Highly recommend! read more

A local hangout place. This place is great for entertainment. They have corn holes, a ping pong table, horse shoes, and lots of live bands. All the fun activities are outside, which is great. And just a block from the beach, on the beach road. So you can hang out in your bathing suit while drinking a beer and playing games. A very local spot. read more

I recently had dinner at the Bonzer Shack with my family. We specifically went for their Wednesday night $2 sliders special, but when we got there we were told that ended last week. A prime rib slider with fries was a special for $10 and my mom, dad, and husband ordered this. They said it was good, but not enough. I ordered the lobster mac and cheese. It was obviously frozen and had a weird rancid oil taste. My daughter had the kids popcorn shrimp which was by far the best meal. It was a ton of good sized shrimp and fries. We ordered a chocolate cake with salted caramel icing for dessert. The desserts were advertised as homemade. It may have been homemade, but tasted like it had been frozen along the way. The cake was dry and flavorless and the icing had no flavor either. We did get key lime pie too and that was delicious. This was my first visit and I do not think I will go back. read more

We stopped by on our way for the week today, 7/8/17, and we are sad to say not impressed with food or service. The server was not attentive at all. I ordered a drink from the bar, and I never received it. She only checked on us one time and we asked for some ranch. She yes, and never came back. I got the Sliders of the day which were fried grouper, just a piece of fish and bread very bland. My sister got the fish tacos, no flavor at all. We also order the queso and no different than cheese dip at a Mexican restaurant. When we let the server know I never got my drink and ranch, she laughed and so yeah you didn't. I have been a server for years and have a tendency to not make a deal about things. $45 dollars later for food that was bland and not good, and horrible service. Should have went to our favorite Mama Kwans or Blue MoonCafe. If you come to this place you should have some old bay in your purse. read more
