This is as average as average gets. An hour before closing, there are no milk shakes, only one kind of bagel, and the staff is desperate for closing time. The food is always middle of the road diner and this is one of the few Latino kitchen staffs that is able to stick to the general flavors of the menu without substituting their own, which is a reflection of good management: the menu however is a reflection of a lack of imagination, but the place makes money with long hours so I doubt there is any incentive to actually improve. Don't expect much from this place and you won't be disappointed. It's a shame the clients eating here are rarely pleasantly surprised. read more

We came here after shopping across the street at the mall. I'd always see this little place on the corner driving by, but have never stopped in to eat it. Well on Saturday, we did just that. I ordered a chicken cheese steak. It was just okay. It was definitely not like a typical cheese steak/burger place that dresses their sandwiches up with everything on it. My chicken cheese steak only had provolone cheese, chicken, lettuce, mayo, and bread---like whattt? I've never been to a sandwich spot where you have to ask for ingredients on your cheese steak separately. Usually, if you aren't at a "build it yourself" type of cheesesteak place like Max's in Philly, they will ask you if you want everything on it (that includes mayo, pickles, hot peppers, onions, etc). I wanted ALL of that and was so disappointed when my bland sandwich came out. My bread was overly toasted and was very flaky. The sandwich was also saturated in mayonnaise, so the entire sandwich literally fell apart as I ate it. The only thing I did add was ketchup, which was not even at each table. There was a big, empty jar of ketchup over in the condiments area that is nowhere near the seating area. I was hungry as heck, so I just ate the darn thing and kept it moving. I've usually just visited Booeymongers for deli sandwiches and the FroYo place adjacent to the restaurant.* Last night, though, I had a craving, and boy did Booeyongers deliver. Seriously, if you're into them, try the turkey burgers. They're huge, fresh, come with delicious potato wedges/home fries and just will not disappoint. So worth it. I got mine to-go and 20 minutes later it still tasted great! The only downside is parking but that's an issue anywhere in Friendship Heights nowadays. *Apparently, this FroYo has the oldest Vanilla/Chocolate machine in DC. You can tell a difference, I swear. The vanilla yogurt tastes SO GOOD and authentic you won't be able to buy FroYo anywhere else and - believe it or not - you won't want to load up on toppings. I will probably hold a funeral when that machine officially breaks down. read more

We decided to watch a movie and had some time to find somewhere to get a bite to eat and when I realized we were across the street from Booeymonger, so I was super excited because I LOVE their breakfast food! This was the first time I've tried the lunch/dinner food... I ordered the Philly Chicken sandwich w/potato wedges and was so happy with it. The food is always good and fits any budget, and the staff are very friendly and courteous. They also allow you to call in advance with your orders if you don't have time to wait around for them to make it since they make to order. Pity I can't do negative numbers. I am a DC Native, and have eaten at the Friendship Heights Booeymonger's since high school/college. True. I get it. EVERYTHING has gone done hill. But how you mess up a tuna wrap is beyond me. Starting from the beginning. Wednesday. I walk in shortly after 1400HRS. NO ONE was in front of me. The two at the counter were yammering away. I make it a point to interrupt because I needed to get back to work...just as I presume they did. Speaking CLEARLY, I said, "A tuna wrap." I particularly specified, "A Spinach wrap." I know because the guy behind the counter heard me because he asked, "What?" Again, I said a spinach warp, meaning I wanted them to use a spinach tortilla...like I ordered for YEARS. I've seen some pretty gross things at some of the neighborhood eateries. The worst was probably at Potbelly's across from Whole Foods, but whatever. Experience has taught me to NEVER take you eyes off who's making YOUR sandwich. I see the guy making the sandwiches takes a whole wheat wrap and places it flat on his workstation. Concerned that this could be MY wrap, AGAIN, I tell the guy working the counter that I ORDERED A SPINACH WRAP. The counter guy says, "Yeah," nonchalantly, "He's working on it." "Idiot," thought I. So I let the sandwich maker fail at his task. The counter guy and the woman, still yammering about something obviously more important than work or serving customers, are totally oblivious to the fact that the wrap and a sandwich are finished. When the counter guy stops chatting/gossiping/whatever, he brings over over the plastic clamshell with the wrap. As he turns and walks, I said, "Hold it! THIS. Is. Not. a. Spinach. Wrap." Again, nonchalantly, and totally without looking, he prissily says, "Yes it is!" Calmly opening the clamshell, and tearing back the foil on one half of the the wrap, I repeated myself and said, "THIS is not a spinach rap." The intonation of the, "THIS," got the attention of the woman. She agreed that this was NOT a spinach wrap, and asks the counter guy exactly I ordered. He has the temerity to snatch the the receipt and read off to her, "Yeah it was spinach. She then tries to to take the wrap back! "We can make you another one," she said, somewhat embarrassed. I said no way. "I, actually, have to work." I told her this was unacceptable. She shoved 2 15% off cards in my hand. I need to find a Booeymonger regional manager to make a complaint. read more

Extensive menu, good place to get a quick sandwich. Their egg salad is chopped really big, which I like but holy cow, did they put a LOT of it on that kaiser roll! This is a good place to get a moderately priced sandwich in DC. I got the Chicken wrap. It came with potato wedges that were old bay seasoned. Other than the food poisoning, everything was good. I ordered a chicken cheese steak and a chocolate chip cookie. The cheese steak was very cheesy to the point where i had to take some of the cheese off because it was just too much. I felt really full for the rest of the day after eating there for lunch, then around 10:00pm it was all down hill. I spent the entire night vomiting up every bit of that cheese steak. Maybe I went on a bad day and they're food is usually good but for me the only good thing that came from this experience was losing 6 pound in one day from the food poisoning. read more

3.5 stars. It baffles me that they are not more restaurants in Friendship Heights with all the highend shopping there. It must be that you could either afford to shop or afford to eat, not both. Well, I can always afford to eat and will always CHOOSE to eat. I don't like national chain restaurants or expensive restaurants that serve crappy food, so that pretty much leaves me Booeymongers for a somewhat healthy grub everytime I'm up in Friendship Heights. I like that they have fresh carved turkey instead of the sodium-laden deli turkey most sandwich places only offer. I like that you can customize your sandwich whichever way you like. I like that they have unique sandwiches that you can't find else where. And I LOVE that a sandwich does not cost you 10 bucks! Most of their sandwiches are in the $6-7 range and will not leave you hungry. Sometimes you just want a decent sandwich and Booeymonger get the job done right. read more

I happened to be in Friendship Heights today so I figured why not pop in here for sandwich. Wrong. I ordered The Georgetowner (it's turkey, with avocado and sprouts on French bread). This was the worst sandwich I have ever had. I got it to go, and when I opened the lid and saw the sandwich I felt really ill. The meat looked *disgusting*. It still had that filmy rind on it that some meats do and was not just one color - it was blotchy and you could see the bloody parts. I took one bite and that was it. I felt so ill I lost my appetite. There was barely any avocado spread on there either. A complete waste of money. I should have returned and maybe asked for my money back but to be honest I just wanted to forget the experience. I am never going back. This was the grossest sandwich I have ever gotten. I usually just came here for my delish everything bagel with hummus topped with a slice of tomato and cucumer. Breakfast is good and some of the sandwiches are really good too but nothing you can't make in your own kitchen. They also serve beer here, not gonna lie... I def. drank while on my lunch break at work lol. But working in high end retail you need a drink with the snobs that shop here. OOOO The Strawberry smoothie are good too, but wayyy too sweet. The little cafe by Neimans is better for smoothies bc they are made with fresh fruit. The potato wedges are good too but nothing great. I'd rather the fries from Chadwicks across the street. They are really slow here... I've waited here for about 20m just for 2 bagels and in the end the guy lost my order. Theres always a wait in morning. read more

When your only choices in a shopping area for a meal are Subway stinky subs and McDonald's this place is an obvious choice for anything near fresh. It seems kitchen staff here changes frequently but don't let that deter you. Some are just better than others! I enjoy their food! I am shocked this place survives here given the high end retail surrounding it. I've never heard of Booeymonger before eating here, so I wanted to try something different and I love delis. However, this is just a huge Sysco foods offering. My sandwich was missing the Russian dressing and the potato wedges were cold. The food is bland, boring, and best if skipped. If you just need to eat without regard to what you are eating, this might suffice. The bathroom was also unclean to the point of not being abe to use it. To its credit, the young man behind the register was friendly and genuine. Otherwise, there is no real reason one should eat here. read more

First of all. They advertise that they use Perdue Turkey, and this is a positive, because??? I guess if you like supporting a company that pollutes the Bay, feeds its poultry arsenic, and pays the small town farmers minimum wages (which had to enter into agreements with the company because they were pricing them out of the market) , then by all means, get the turkey at Booeymongers. Second, I asked for plain cheese, lettuce, tomato, hots, and Italian dressing sandwich (an Italian sub with no meat, which was impossible for them to comprehend). I got 3 slices of cheese, a few slices of tomatoes and a whole leaf of lettuce, usually places add more cheese and veggies to make up for not having meat, they just took off the meat and that's it. AND they forgot the hots and dressing. Overall, would not go back. The service was bad and the place itself was not very appealing. read more

Booey's is one of those places that I don't particularly think of that highly myself, but anytime friends and I are like "let's go somewhere for lunch," I always end up here. I guess it may be because they really do have a ton of variety, and they have good, heated sandwiches with quality toppings and good meat. They have a great selection of sandwiches - the Patty Hearst is delicious, as is the Ace, the Manhattan, the Reuben, the Natural, and the Chicken Rico. I've never bothered with their cold subs because really, who wants a cold sandwich when you can get a tasty warm one. They have a great soup and sandwich deal that generally includes a full sammich and a bowl of soup or chili for $7.25 - that's a great deal. Plenty of drink options, a boatload of sides (the sesame noodles and cold pasta salad are both delicious and cheap) make Booey a place where anyone and everyone can find something they like. So all this praise and you might ask why did I only rate it 3-stars? The answer is that I just don't know....I would take Jetties or Quizno's over Booey's for some reason, and I guess I'm just not generally "wow'd" when I go there - it's a good, solid, sandwich place, but nothing superior like that of Jettie's. I work in the area in the summer, and came here everyday for breakfast I got their strawberry parfait and home fries.... I loved it so much . Just came back recently to get the strawberry parfait and they completely changed it. It doesn't taste nearly as good because they added all kinds of fruit in it which doesn't do it any justice and defeats from the idea of a strawberry parfait .Whereas before it was the strawberry yogurt,strawberries, and layers of granola throughout. P.F. Chang's bar was packed, so I ended up here. It's easier on your wallet and has faster service than most of its Friendship Heights neighbors. The food--sandwiches, burgers, and yogurt--is better than what you'd find at your average deli in D.C. The staff members were polite, and it's open until 1 AM on Saturdays. Yikes. In general, this place should be avoided. Above all, never order delivery from Booeymonger. They will tell you a delivery time which will not correspond to the actual delivery time. The only complaint I have about the place is the door - in the winter, cold air blows in and freezes anyone sitting near there whenever it opens. I love Booeymonger 's little extras-- 1.) It's open really late, 2.) They have fountain Diet Dr. Pepper, 3.) There are plenty of healthy options. Booeymonger is basically a sandwich place. There is no table service. You place your order and then pay. You're called up by number. There are about 25 different sandwiches, ranging from more basic clubs to rather exotic offerings. They are pretty nice about letting you add, subtract and change things around, although they charge you. You can make a sandwich from scratch, but buying the bread, cheese, meat, veggies and condiments a la carte makes for a very expensive sandwich. I would suggest ordering one of theirs and substituting if you want. Booeymonger also offers soups, salads, bagels and baked good. Breakfast exists there, too, but only until 10 a.m. (and I've never been there that early). The chef's salad is really good (it has roast beef, eggs and cheese, along with veggies), although a few times I've ordered it at the end of the day and the greens were rusty. They also have shrimp salad, chicken salad, pasta salad, bean salad and fruit salad. The latter is my favorite. For about $8 you can get a huge plate of fruit (melon, strawberries and grapes) with cottage cheese. The soup rotates daily. I've had a variety of them and they are pretty good. Booeymonger is a good place to go for lunch or a cheap dinner. It's basic, clean (except for the bathrooms-- ick!!) and uncrowded. The staff is nice. read more

Today I popped in for lunch. This was my 2nd visit within 7 months. Since I wasn't impressed the 1st time, I thought I'd try it once again at a different time/day/etc. Yep, I'm not impressed. The hot sandwiches have been overcooked and I like my meats well-done, but not dried out and tough which is exactly how I received my gyro today. The potato wedges were dry.
